I almost buy this til I read that it doesn't support AT&T LTE. Whew.

I'm on T-Mo, and it does not include LTE band 4 or 12, just 2/3G HSPA+ band 2, which is close to my LTE bandwidth at home (12-20Mb/s.) I don't think this phone is a good USA alternative because 2/3G can be spotty, well, that's my experience on T-Mo anyway when travelling around Seattle.

Thanks for info. Good thing I didn't buy it. Still looking for other phone that has LTE, 6.0" display or high and MIUI 8. I am on Huawei Mate 8. I get bored with it. I want something new.

I picked up a Lenovo Phab 2 Pro yesterdy (Lowes.com). Just getting it set-up and used to it. Bit of a learning curb with permissions, of which I have not encountered, but a few googles has helped me through my questions.
Huawei Mate 9 looks pretty nice, but it may or may not be released in the US, otherwise you're stuck with HSPA (2/3G) speeds. For a big phone (6"+) the Phab 2 Pro seems pretty nice. It's a tango device, but I don't care about tango, although I may play with it when I get board. It has all ATT & T-Mo bands. My speedtest verifies LTE, although the 4G indicator doesn't display LTE, it is non-the-less.

The Mi Max was the first phone in 5-6 years I hadn't rooted. I was happy with the large screen, although I was thinking a 2k display would be nice, something the Phab 2 Pro has. I might root the Phab 2 Pro, assuming it becomes available. My 3 biggest wants in a phone at present: 1) 6 inch or above display (P2P is 6.4"; 2) 2k display (P2P is 2k); and 3) a descent camera. The Phab 2 Pro has a demonstratively better camera than the Mi Max, which maybe isn't saying much (Mi Max camera is pretty bad for other than complete stills), so I am living large, as it were, at the present time.

I will be coming from a Note 3 which was perfect until the Kitkat update. I now have horrible signal and am sick of it. I live in a rural area and want to make sure the Note 4 does not have the same issues before I spend another $700 on a phone (I have unlimited data). Thanks!

every phone is different since most of them have different CPU and antenna. it's too soon to tell though as most folks haven't even received their pre orders yet.
I have this question as well. I'll be coming from an S3, and it has terrible signal strength. It's the one thing that I've always hated about the S3. I'll be interested to see everyone's results.
My N3 had terrible reception, I moved to LG G3 which was much better. I switched to new N4 yesterday and this phone outperforms both on signal strength. I don't drop data or voice anywhere I used to with the previous 2 phones.

It is still early but initial impressions seem to be positive. I am fond of Motorola for their excellent radios. Coming from a moto x, I don't see any difference in signal. And comparing from my previous note 3, it seems to have improved in my area.
Worse case is that if it doesn't work well in your area, you should be able to return the phone and get something else without incurring a restocking fee. I was hesitant since I wanted to wait for the droid turbo but since playing with the note 4, I'm keeping it. Good luck.
Im having a few signal issues i only get 1 bar some places but it doesnt seem to affect call quality

I had a note 3 that held a LTE signal at 2 bars very well at my house until the 4.4.4 update, after that update it would be one 3g most of the time.
I got my note 4 yesterday and had it all day and it never once dropped to 3g, It held the LTE signal very well.
The note 4 is definitely better than the note 3 as far as signal quality.
I can verify this because I just bought a note 4 coming from a note 3. I was unable to get service in my house where I lived as well as many other places I should have. I bought the note 4 yesterday and all my service issues have been fixed. So yes the signal is much better.

using note 4 today and best service i have had to date. phone has great dbm and first speedtest pulled 47 mbps download!!!
My Verizon N4 so far has slightly better signal than my LG G3, which had good service to begin with. No complaints so far with signal strength / net speed. So far my only complaint is the message + lag when taking a photo indoors. Reminds me of the annoying image stabilization option on the S5 that slowed the camera way down

This shouldn't be a concern on a different device, as Android isn't like Windows (in that a specific version is compatible on all PCs). The firmware (OS) on your device is tailor made for that device, and because of this, the concern you have about signal quality on the Note 4 vs the Note 3 isn't valid (not that it's not a valid concern, but that it doesn't apply). This is why you can't flash firmware from one model to a different model, and the only way for you to garnish an answer is by either speaking to someone in your area that has a Note 4 on VZW or buy a Note 4. I'm not sure if the Note 3 had the ability, but from the Note 4 settings it appears that you make Google Voice your default phone service... not just for dialing, but for receiving as well. I can't verify this, as I haven't tried it out yet, however it would help in your situation. As far as signal goes, I've had no issues with my Note 4 since buying it.
Something to consider... the Nexus 6 comes out next month and one of the unique features it has, over that of the bootloader being unlocked, is that is is the first smartphone with a hot swappable SIM... meaning you can buy it on Verizon and switch at random with other U.S. CDMA and GSM carriers by simply swapping SIMs. The only two differences between the Note 4 and the NX6 is the NX6 has a 13MP camera vs that of the 16MP on the Note 4 and it doesn't come with a S Pen (it also doesn't have the novelty features like a heartbeat monitor or UV exposure reader)... hardware is all the same, quad core 2.7Ghz processor, 3GB of RAM, rapid charge, etc. I'm assuming you have Verizon here, but you know you don't have to pay full retail upfront right? Because manufacturer's and carriers can't test for every variable, occasionally a firmware update will cause an issue with signal viability... have you informed Verizon of the issue, as well as made Samsung aware?
Something else to keep in mind... Android 5.0 [Lollipop] will be released to the Note 4 within a few months, and if you prefer a rooted device, then I would caution against buying anything other than the NX6, as it is highly improbable rooting will be possible on bootloader locked devices running Android 5... is it impossible, no; highly improbable, yes. Checkout ChainFire's Google+ post from 10/18 or 10/19 for an indepth explanation as to why.
This phone gets FANTASTIC reception! Better then iPhone 5 which dropped 4g all the time and better then even my Galaxy S5. MUCH better then the Note 3 which has about the same Signal issues as the iphone 6......
I have a iPhone 6plus and note 4 and my note isn't getting more then two bars when my iPhone is getting 4...could my phone be faulty?

Thanks guys for the feedback. I understand that signal problems with one phone are unrelated to signal issues with another phone. I was just giving my background that I don't want to go down the road I have with the N3.
Asking about signal issues with the National is a valid question.

I am likely moving to AT&T from T-Mobile. Don't get me wrong, I am a very satisfied T-Mobile customer, but they have oversold their network in my neighborhood. Testing AT&T on a Nexus 6, I an getting 10X the speed, close to 40Mbps down when I may be only 2 or 3 with T-Mobile. So, here is my question: Should I replace my T-Mobile N910T with a N910A? I have read the N910T thread and I am not asking how wonderful the T-Mobile version is. I know. I don't root devices and I am stock on my Note 4. I don't care about unlocked bootloaders. Not important to me. I also understand less bloatware.
But when I test the Nexus 6, I get faster speeds, closer to 50Mbps. I am using Band 29 on the Nexus, Band 4 on my Note. I understand that the N910A supports Band 29. My area is congested. Will I regret in a year or 2 not having Band 29?

I am using ATT note 4 and is in perfect condition. I have been looking to trade for tmobile version because i want to root my device. Let me know if you want to trade. I will include 2 cases and 64gb sdcard.
I'd also like to offer my Note 4 N910A if the above trades don't work out. Great condition, screen is flawless. White version, 64GB SD. I'll include both the factory and S-View flip case, OEM charger, and a sports armband. My reason is the same as the above poster: I've been dying to root it and doesn't look like it's gonna happen for the N910A anytime soon. If I can use a N910T instead on AT&T, I'd prefer that any day.

there is no T-Mobile version of the Xperia Z5 Premium
I have the Z5 Premium Dual. From all the tech specs I read, it's the only one that has the AWS bands on both the LTE and 3G/3.5G (Umts) frequency. If you don't care about the Umts band then you can get any Z5 Premium variant. The model I specifically have is E6883.

The back camera is great and the front camera is fine. I rarely use the front camera on any of my phones. Battery life is okay. I get about 3-5 hours out of it. Keep in mind I normally have the brightness up pretty high (75 %- 80%) and I am a super heavy user. I am constantly steaming music/videos, and I tether it to my surface pro 4 pretty much all day since my job does not provide wifi access to us. So you figure 8 - 10 hours of tethering and constantly streaming 3 - 5 hours is not bad. For a light to moderate user, I can definitely see it lasting a whole day without needing to charge.
I am e6853 on tmobile signal not as good as nexus 6p the one I use before z5p
Thanks for all the info guys, i ended up getting a 6s+ for now till the z6 plus/ultra releases.
Hi guys. I've been a member of XDA for some time through many phones rooting, ROMing, etc., and customizing many phones. But I haven't done anything for awhile, still rocking the Note 4, and am by far no expert. I am really looking to get my hands on the Xiaomi Mi Max 4GB 128GB dark grey version. I've never bought a phone that wasn't compatible or made for my carrier, so I need some help.
1. Does anyone know if they will get these back in stock, or am I stuck purchasing a gold one?
2. I am on Verizon. From my understanding, it will work except LTE. Do you still get 4G but not LTE? Is it a huge deal really? Can you still stream on Netflix etc, without a huge lag? I've read from some users online it wasn't a huge difference.
3. Which version do I look for, International?
4. Would it work better on AT&T? Because I am willing to switch for the phone I want. If it's the same as Verizon, no LTE, then I'll just stay with Verizon.
Thanks for any help guys. I really want this phone. I was disappointed the Note 7 is still so small. The Note 4 easily fits in my pockets, so I can't see why they won't go bigger with all the use of media and internet these days. I know some people wear skinny jeans and already have an issue with the size, but that's why they have other options like the S7.
Also looking into the Asus Zenfone 3 Ultra. Will that work any better on a US network?
I'll pay you $1,000,000 if you can get Verizon to activate this phone on their network. They would never let you use any of these phones on their network.

They block it from accessing their network. They limit what's allowed to run on their network. I even tried my friends Verizon sim in my Mediapad X2 and Mate 8 and nope, if it's not in their whitelist it won't work. That's one of the main reasons I left Verizon a while back.
Ok, few important things to share with you.
Consider the 32gb, 3 gig ram version because it has the most development, global ROM, and possibly lower cost. I'm seduced by bigger specs models but frustrated to no end by lack of global ROM, I've got the 64 gig.
Secondly I ditched Verizon for this very reason. Lack of open network and hassles getting devices to work.
Thirdly, look at network coverage in your area, pick the better of AT&T or T-Mobile. I've gone with T-Mobile and not looked back. Speeds are good enough at H+.
Finally, Lenovo Phab Tango device with US LTE bands is about to hit the market, so research that also. ?

THANK YOU so much!!! That was awesome information. Lenovo Phab 2 Pro, seems to be the only fairly current phone over 6.3" fully compatible in the US right? I've had so many cell phones over the last 15+ years, more than 15. I've never cracked a screen. But with having such a larger screen, it concerns me a little I have not seen anything about it being Gorilla glass. Other than that I'm sold. Not that there are many choices in that size compatible in the US, but it has pretty good specs overall. I only wish for a little bigger battery and Gorilla glass. But you sold me sir. I'll be waiting for this. Guess I'll be switching to AT&T soon. Thanks!
I have the data and sms/mms working on Verizon currently. Did all the troubleshooting with them and on my own. Not your typical customer, 32 years in technology network engineering. Been fighting with them to have it added to their system. Finally someone submitted the form for me waiting to see. As for now I have my Verizon number forwarded to my Google Voice.
So I'm getting really close on ordering one of these phone... but I got a few questions before I pulled the trigger.
1- Will this phone work on t-mobile bands in USA? (LTE)
2- Does the 4Gb Ram/128Gb comes just in one color? (gold)
3- How is the sound throughout headphones? (I listen to a lots of music on my current phone/note 4, have a few decents pair or headphones)

This device does not support LTE in USA.
I would ask you not to look at the model bigger than 32 gig. Because the 32 gig model has all sorts of support for international ROMs. It has International firmware. But the bigger models are behind in development and they do not have that support.
Finally I would also recommend buying off of Swappa.

Sound is awesome, especially if you install something like poweramp...
It supports High Res audio, like Sony devices.
Called snapdragon 24 bit pcm, which is 192khz/24bit.
If you want more it also supports USB Dac.
128gb is only one color, but.. Battery door is not expensive, all u need is to wait for fingerprint sensor replacement with a desired color.
I don't live in US,but what I've heard that it has problems with LTE.
There is a website, I don't remember the name, but it can check is a phone supports lte network for specific operator.
Not working on USA T Mobile LTE is a bummer...

My take on those questions:
1. The Max doesn't have support for T-Mobile LTE and the band 12/E911 situation makes it essentially impossible to get them on any imported device.
Your best bet for 'device liberty' is either to get a MiFi from T-Mobile or tether the Max to a band 12 device. The issue has been discussed at length over at the Xperia Z Ultra forums and my own take is that it is better to find workarounds rather than accept the seriously restricted device selection available, especially if band 12 is a requirement.
The only devices that can get band 12 is those which are 'certified' by said carrier as being E911 capable and it means VoLTE support - or more exactly 'T-Mobile VoLTE support' meaning that the carrier supplies code to the OEM for compatibility. Since band 12 is a VoLTE band with no GSM fallback for calls, devices without T-Mobile VoLTE aren't allowed to connect. Even if the radio supports band 12 as a pure LTE standard, it won't be able to connect unless the device are 'certified' by this carrier as being E911 complaint.
Ergo: 99.99% of the smartphones are out of the question if T-Mobile band 12 is sought. To me, such a restriction is downright unacceptable and I would get a device anyway and then use Google Voice for voice and text paired with a T-Mobile MiFi or tether to a branded phone in order to combine 'T-Mobile LTE' with 'free choice'.
2. The 4/128GB configuration is only available in gold for the time being.
3. I think the audio quality is very good - I am happy with the way it sounds through the Grado SR225 I am using at this time. Further enhancements can be obtained through V4A. Sony Music (PexoMod) works well with the Max and I think the overall quality is really good.
I can recommend the Max and simply solve the T-Mobile issue with a MiFi or tethered device (your Note 4 could be used as a T-M modem for example).
Yet another solution is to go for the AT&T/Cricket route. The Max isn't going to get LTE but HSPA+ with them with full support (the radio is quadband and works with them).
There is development going on for LTE unlocking but the reports are conflicting whether it works or not. It won't solve the band 12 issue anyway, though.
Thanks for the info... I'll probably stick with a carrier phone, was looking for a big screen phone... i guess gonna keep carrying my phone and 8 inch tablet.

I would recommend you to get a MiFi or something from T-Mobile (or use the tether method) unless you are content with the small selection of the carrier. To me, I rather do the MiFi or tether than accept a carrier branded device (freedom of choice is 1000 times more important to me and I don't like to buy devices from a carrier).
It is highly improbable that T-Mobile band 12 will work on a lot of devices due to the whole 'certification' process involved.
My personal take is that I give those carriers the middle finger with their attempts of restriction, switch my talk/text to Google Voice and then use the MiFi/tether method as a way of getting whatever I want, without being restricted to what the carrier want me to use. The whole idea of having a carrier using proprietary VoLTE code and special frequency bands requiring 'certification' doesn't go along well with me and that is why I rather carry an extra device (MiFi/tether phone) with me if need be. I used T-Mobile before but this whole band 12 thing has made me very much opposed to the carrier since it imposes a restriction similar to VZW (almost).
I will probably use Cricket on my Max. If I ever need something like T-Mobile or VZW coverage - I will 100% surely do the MiFi/tethering rather than give up my 'freedom of device'.
Your best bet for T-Mobile (i.e. integrated LTE radio with band 12) could be the 'Huawei Pixel 7' which is heavily rumored at this point as a successor to the Nexus 7. Another option is the Lenovo Phab 2 Pro but it is delayed.
