there is no T-Mobile version of the Xperia Z5 Premium

I have the Z5 Premium Dual. From all the tech specs I read, it's the only one that has the AWS bands on both the LTE and 3G/3.5G (Umts) frequency. If you don't care about the Umts band then you can get any Z5 Premium variant. The model I specifically have is E6883.

Ohh okay thanks ! I'll probably get the other model , how do you like z5 premium? Is the back and front camera good ,and also the battery life ? I am debating if I should get a 6s plus since I like iphones front cameras (I snap chat alot) or a z5premium or even maybe a 6p...
I heard the z6 line will be out soon so not sure if I should wait

The back camera is great and the front camera is fine. I rarely use the front camera on any of my phones. Battery life is okay. I get about 3-5 hours out of it. Keep in mind I normally have the brightness up pretty high (75 %- 80%) and I am a super heavy user. I am constantly steaming music/videos, and I tether it to my surface pro 4 pretty much all day since my job does not provide wifi access to us. So you figure 8 - 10 hours of tethering and constantly streaming 3 - 5 hours is not bad. For a light to moderate user, I can definitely see it lasting a whole day without needing to charge.

I am e6853 on tmobile signal not as good as nexus 6p the one I use before z5p

Thanks for all the info guys, i ended up getting a 6s+ for now till the z6 plus/ultra releases.

[Q] Should I import a Nitro HD to the UK?

In truth, not decided 100% on my next phone. But I like the look of this one.
The phone I want does not really exist (there is always something newer, better, and when thats there, I want something else). Ideally now I want a Galaxy with a keyboard. Most keyboard phones are not high spec - Samsung Captivate Glide is close, as is the Droid 4, so am looking at something like this and give up on a keyboard.
Picking a phone is subjective and a personal choice. I dont care about ICS much, I care more about having a MicroSD. I care about removing bloat, and upgrading outside of LG software updates (or any carrier)
Q1) Where to get it from - cell2get.com? Needs to be unlocked for the UK.
Q2) Will there be any dev on this phone?
My impression is, LG have good hardware, poor rep and not good software/too much bloat. A lot of phones have that, some are worse than others. I don't expect LG to fix it. XDA-developers is a power house and make phones usable. If I had the skills/experience/time, I would do it myself but I bow out to others.
i also think the look is underrated on this guy... but a main selling point in the US is that it's pretty much the highest spec ATT phone w/ LTE, so without that overseas, it wouldn't be worth the price.

LTE is on trial here in London, but not out for everyone until 2012, so its quite a bit of time.
There is the Galaxy Nexus, but there is not much mobile choice over here, not with 720p screen.

is it the same LTE frequency?? If so then i'd say go for it. The only LTE phone w/ 720p.. those were the exact same features i went after..
Dev wise, it all depends if the bootloader is locked or not (i have no clue)

Probably not the same band for LTE. O2 is trying 2600 in a few spots. There is talk of 800 when the its free. LTE 700 is what the phone is set at so I doubt it will work.

[Q] [Vote] Should I buy the US or international Note 2?

So I listed my Note 2 i717 on craiglist and someone offered me 600$ for it. I'm considering selling it and buying an international note 2. However I'd lose my LTE capability and it's not easy to blow 700 on a new toy. Or should I wait for the US note 2 and get it on contract for the rumored 199? That would give me LTE but degrade my battery life. You guys know the differences obviously. If I wait though and try to sell my note I'm not sure I'd be able to get the same kind of money as I can now. What do you guys think I should do?
someone offered you $600 for your 1st gen at&t note??? take it and don't look back.
i would assume that samsung would give you the ability to turn off 4G.

Yea if someone wants to buy your N1 for what an N2 cost go for it!
could allways just hold on to the money for awile and see if the LTE is coming soon.
what are you doing on your phone.. really need LTE?
Well the thing is the buyer is from over an hour away and as much as I would love to go sell it to him the price of gas and tolls would have to be taken into consideration. I don't use LTE since it's not even in my town yet and I'd prefer to have the better battery life so that's why I'm leaning more towards the international note.
Sounds like a scam to me.
You can get a brand new Note 1 for $500 + tax at neweggs. Unlocked.

It's kinda your call bro. But I'm pretty sure if you don't have lte in your area it won't drain the battery any faster. You can even turn lte off to make sure it doesn't even try to scan for it. As far as craigslist I'd be careful and meet them somewhere decently public to avoid getting robbed or something it sounds almost like a too good to be true deal even with all your extras. So tell them to meet you some place relatively public then gauge how they respond and act accordingly.

It still has the LTE chip in it so of course it's going to use more battery then the international version. I wish I had the option on my phone to disable LTE but it doesn't work. The toggle is there for 2g networks only but it doesn't do anything. I know it sounds too good to be true but the guy just text me again about 20 minutes ago asking if I got it unlocked yet. I always meet in a public place, I'm not stupid and I bring 3 guys with me just in case. You never know.

Of course it does. Compare the battery life on the international s3 to the AT&T one. Look at the professional video reviews of the note 2 from big companies. They all mention how once it gets LTE and comes to the states they aren't sure how much of the battery life will be degraded but it will be some amount.

Not arguing with your statement, even though I would have something to say about it, comparing the "international s3 to the AT&T one" is apples to oranges when referring to one chip being different when it's a completely different soc.

My interpretation of those reviews is that using LTE will decrease battery life. Disabling LTE will bring it right back to what international models are seeing. I think this is what the other forum member was referring to.

Really? I'm on a Verizon s3 with a cm10 rom and it's in settings- more - mobile networks - network mode. Or you can just toggle it off with a 3rd party app. Or you can type in the dial pad to get to the service menu (I forget the number). Or download the app "phone info" from the market. Turning off LTE is the same as your WiFi, Bluetooth, or NFC it can be turned off to save power.

Yep, more than likely AT&T will not allow you the choice to disable LTE. If you are connected to LTE, your battery life will suffer.
If you don't mind losing LTE speeds then go for it. Also, you never know if the US version is going to have a locked bootloader or what other stupid things US carriers do to their devices. Also, dev support is already great on the N7100. You'll get updates a ton faster. I received my device on Monday and couldn't be happier. All I can say is I'm glad I didn't wait for AT&T release theirs.

See, I agree with you totally when it comes to the community dev support. Personally, I haven't yet been spoiled by LTE, so I suppose ignorance is bliss so far. However, this does bring up a point that I have been trying to shout from the rooftops in this forum, and not many people seem to understand what I'm shouting, so here goes again:
The international LTE Note 2 (N7105) does NOT have LTE radios compatible with AT&T's service frequencies.
The AT&T Note 2, supposedly, will be exactly identical to the international N7105 from a hardware standpoint, with the exception of the LTE radio.
Theory:
Considering the vast similarities between the N7105 and the AT&T Note 2, firmware between the two devices should be compatible. Thus, it should be possible to flash the N7105 firmware onto the AT&T Note 2, and then, for LTE functionality, separately flash the modem.bin driver from the AT&T firmware.
This is what people did with the T-Mobile OG Galaxy Tab in order to get Phone calling and 3G functionality.
Perhaps this is the best of all worlds? A pseudo-international Note 2, running unlocked international firmware, while also having the hardware and driver functionality of North American domestic LTE!

My Xperia ZL review

I was fortunate enough to get my hands on a final release Black Sony Xperia ZL from a very reliable source. This phone is expected to be released around the middle to end of March. This is the unlocked C6506 model of the ZL which comes with UMTS HSPA+ 850 (Band V), 900 (Band VIII), 1700 (Band IV), 1900 (Band II), 2100 (Band I) GSM GPRS/EDGE 850, 900, 1800, 1900 LTE Band I, Band II, Band IV, Band V and Band XVII. For those of you who are not sure what that means this is a penta band phone that will work with Tmobile and AT&T HSPA + network as well as AT&T's LTE and Tmobile's soon to be released LTE network. I am currently using it on Tmobile but i have also tested it with AT&T.
This phone has the exact same specs as the Xperia Z minus the dust and waterproofing. However what you lose in extra protection gains you a very compact phone. It is actually smaller than the Galaxy S III as far as length and width are concerned, it is slightly thicker but not by much. The back casing is made of a poly plastic with a durable textured back that actually gives you a better grip over a 5" screen that was made to be used one handed.
The screen is bright and crisp and the viewing angles are great if your one of those people that look at your phone dead on (Why people want a phone that can be seen by the person sitting next to you is beyond me). I will take some pics comparing it with the Galaxy S III as well as the Xperia TX. But the screen is amazing and watching the walking dead on it has been a joy.
Battery life has been pretty decent. Im averaging about 13-14 hours of light to moderate use and 6-8 hours of heavy use witch include browsing the net, youtube, facebooking and watching movies. Mind you i have done all this without using stamina mode. i wanted to see what my results where without it so that i then have something to compare it against. i will report back.
The Ui is pretty slick it has some neat animations but its not heavily tweaked like sense 4.0 or cartoony like Touch Wiz. there is nothing about this phone that has lag or stutter in anyway. It is FAST, and ive attempted to bog it down opening and closing apps as well as switching between apps with not so much as a problem. Another nice touch which had me thrilled was that i was able to download all of my old Nvidia Tegra games that i purchased back when i was using the G2X (im really enjoying gaming on this phone GTA3 and Vice city play great as well as 9MM, Order and Chaos, The Dark Knight, Spiderman, Backstab, Max Payne, Dead Trigger, Dead Space, Vector and Angry Birds). Music sounds excellent provided you have decent headphones and the speaker on this thing is pretty loud.loud enough to allow me to have conversations on speaker while driving around town.
Things im not crazy about...Im not digging the fact that the background has switched from black to white in the stock messaging app as well as contacts but thats just personal taste. Also the lock screen requires you to do a full swipe up and down with this neat little window blind effect but its annoying at times because it really does require you to go from top to bottom and vice versa for it to unlock the screen. The camera takes great shots but i feel that the burst shot should really have its own button rather than me having to go looking for it in the menu or perhaps do like HTC has and register that fact that i haven't taken my finger off the shutter. Especially considering it that theres unused space in the left hand menu options that would make for a good place to put a burst shot button. The notification area has the easy access settings buttons vibration, blue-tooth, wi-fi, data connections and settings, but they are not customizable at all and that reallys drags away from their purpose in my opinion as it should be up to the user to set. the placement of the front facing camera while interesting does mean that if your a right handed user you may be holding it with your left hand or looking at the person your chating with sideways because your palm may get in the way.
None of this is deal breaking just my personal take. If any one has questions or request ill try to accommodate so ask away.
Thanks for the review! Looking forward to when this will be available on the Sony online store. Can't wait!

Yes both HSPA+ and LTE on both At&t and Tmobile. That's why i believe that Sony will only release the ZL in Canada and the US. The Z will not support the full spectrum of bands like the ZL will. Its a bit disheartening as the Xperia Z is beautiful, but it will only play nice with HSPA+. I had a friend who almost cried over the Z but after he saw how compact the ZL is he seeing that its the better choice for him.
HSPA?
Running AT&T Straight Talk on a N4. The ZL C6502 has the 850/1900 frequencies to run 3G. Will this be the same HSPA 3G that I'm getting now?

your partially right the Z thats on negri will not play nice with HSPA because its missing the 1900 but there is a model according to the white papers of the Xperia Z the C6602 that will have full HSPA but not LTE.
It seems to me that the Xperia ZL C6502 has the right frequencies to run faux 4G on AT&T, or as I understand it HSPA. Am I right or wrong? I do know that it will not support LTE like the upcoming C6506 US model.
Thinking about placing an order. I really like how this phone is all display. Just hope development supports this phone.

[Q] Sony Xperia ZL 6506 locked from At&t? Is that possible

Dear all,
I just bought a Sony Xperia ZL 6506 white on ebay. It is new. I think it was a good deal since it was 455 shipping included. the guy states in the ad that the phone is brand new. I have T-mobile, and I am concerned of only one thing: the seller wrote "At&t" under the voice "carrier" and states: "PHONE WORKS WITH AT&T. NOT SURE IF IT IS UNLOCKED TO OTHER GSM NETWORKS." I googled and I think there is no such an Sony Xperia ZL 6506 locked to Att, or am I missing something? Should it work with my Tmobile sim card? Thanks
It is listed here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Sony-Xperia...D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557
You'll be fine - the C6506 is unlocked for any GSM carrier. It is the reason I just purchased one yesterday as well: because it has the 1700mhz T-mobile AWS band (unlike the HTC One Developer Edition that I'm now selling).
It will not be locked to AT&T. Now, the T-mobile version of the Xperia Z is another story and it will be locked to T-mobile, but you'll be fine.
Enjoy your phone! Setting mine up now and I just love it so far.
-Collin-
Awesome I hope so. I bought it because it is pentaband. It has the H+ network also on the 900 Mhz frequenzy!! So I am gonna use it in Italy (im italian working in USA) as well if my studies were corrects. Do you agree? And you are gonna travel to Europe sometimes rite?

I actually just came home from Italy on my honeymoon! I didn't have the phone at that time, but I did have the Nexus 4 and it worked beautifully. Too bad I dropped it on the cement after a few too many beers at the beer garden in Prague
Cheers,

Congrats for ur wedding! I bet u were in my hometown (Venezia, Venexiano means inhabitant of Venice in venetian dialect).
Anyway yeah I wanted to buy the Nexus 4, way cheaper...but I wanted to have the option to use a SD card...
May I ask you way you ditched the Nexus 4 for the Xperia ZL? Was Praga's cement too hard and it could not make it?
Cheers

Well, I was using the Nexus 4 on AT&T in the US at that time, and AT&T's 3G network is fairly slow here. It was time to get a phone with LTE, so I got the HTC One. Now, I switched to T-Mobile and they just turned on the LTE service in my area (San Jose, CA) and I needed the pentaband phone. I didn't want to buy a phone from T-Mobile because I prefer to buy unlocked versions and I really liked the Sony. It's so compact for a 5" screen.
Yes, we went to Venezia. It was so beautiful! One of our fondest memories was traveling out to Burano and Murano islands. True paradise.
Cheers,
-Collin-
Cool my mom was born and raise in Murano. I go often there with my boat.
Anyways...did u really notice a big difference between Tmobile H+ and Tmobile LTE?
thanks
A.
T-Mobile has LTE deployed in Chicago. I'm getting roughly the same speeds as HSPA+ most of the time. The only difference is the latency and some peak speeds. I've seen almost 30Mbps on LTE in some areas. Honestly, I turn my LTE off most of the time because I've been using up my bandwidth way too quickly.

I get about 10-12mbps on HSPA+ and usually 25-30mbps on LTE here in San Jose. 10-12 is just fine for me, but I just got one of the new unlimited plans so I see no real drawback. Uploads are WAY faster though, and that helps with my "auto-upload" feature I use when I snap photos I guess. You know, and pictures of my food being posted on Facebook and whatnot

Dear all,
I just bought a Sony Xperia ZL 6506 white on ebay. Thanks

I just SWITCHED to AT&T and get only HSPA/HSPA+. No LTE service at all. Is there something new subscribers need to do? I've only seen existing AT&T subscribers having success with the ZL.
Suggestions? Thanks

I solved the issue.
First the problem: If you are a new customer bringing an unlocked phone (not AT&T branded), when you register your IMEI, the network will not recognize it as AT&T property and will deny you LTE service.
Solution: Finally, after a week, today I went to the local store, and they put the IMEI of a store phone in and voila, LTE right away. Obviously, this should not be the case, and those who get service right away must be existing AT&T customers with an AT&T phone in their account. This must change otherwise people won't want to switch! HTH

No lte

I almost buy this til I read that it doesn't support AT&T LTE. Whew.

I'm on T-Mo, and it does not include LTE band 4 or 12, just 2/3G HSPA+ band 2, which is close to my LTE bandwidth at home (12-20Mb/s.) I don't think this phone is a good USA alternative because 2/3G can be spotty, well, that's my experience on T-Mo anyway when travelling around Seattle.

Thanks for info. Good thing I didn't buy it. Still looking for other phone that has LTE, 6.0" display or high and MIUI 8. I am on Huawei Mate 8. I get bored with it. I want something new.

I picked up a Lenovo Phab 2 Pro yesterdy (Lowes.com). Just getting it set-up and used to it. Bit of a learning curb with permissions, of which I have not encountered, but a few googles has helped me through my questions.
Huawei Mate 9 looks pretty nice, but it may or may not be released in the US, otherwise you're stuck with HSPA (2/3G) speeds. For a big phone (6"+) the Phab 2 Pro seems pretty nice. It's a tango device, but I don't care about tango, although I may play with it when I get board. It has all ATT & T-Mo bands. My speedtest verifies LTE, although the 4G indicator doesn't display LTE, it is non-the-less.

The Mi Max was the first phone in 5-6 years I hadn't rooted. I was happy with the large screen, although I was thinking a 2k display would be nice, something the Phab 2 Pro has. I might root the Phab 2 Pro, assuming it becomes available. My 3 biggest wants in a phone at present: 1) 6 inch or above display (P2P is 6.4"; 2) 2k display (P2P is 2k); and 3) a descent camera. The Phab 2 Pro has a demonstratively better camera than the Mi Max, which maybe isn't saying much (Mi Max camera is pretty bad for other than complete stills), so I am living large, as it were, at the present time.
