Beeping alarm out of nowhere on A50 - Samsung Galaxy A50 Questions & Answers

Hi everybody.
First of all, sorry if this isn't the right place to post this. Second, english is not my first language, so sorry if there are some mistakes.
I've had my A50 almost a year now, and this is the first time this has happened. Today, at around 6 am, while the phone was charging, power was on but the phone was inactive (i was sleeping), a loud beeping noise like an old alarm started. Of course i tried to check the phone, but it wasn't responding. After about 15 seconds, the sound stopped and the phone started working.
First thing i checked was notifications, but there wasn't anything related.
The sound wasn't like any alarm sound on the phone.
I haven't found anything on the internet so far and my only guess is that it was some kind of hardware alarm, since it was charging while it happened and nothing showed up on the software.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance

Thanks for the reply, but, like i said, it wasn't the alarm on the phone. It was a beeping sound, not included in the sounds for the actual alarm clock. Also, the phone was on. There wasn't any alarm set on the phone.

Stroke of Midnight: Beep

My WM6 Dash started doing a single beep at the stroke of midnight, every night. It also started making the same beep at bootup. Not a big deal, but would prefer it didn't do that (it didn't before). Not exactly sure when it started, about a month or so ago. Anyone else run into this, or figure out how to shut it off?
By chance do you have WIFI on?
...no... and -- it doesn't remain on during a bootup, so wouldn't be related to that beep on startup...

Maybe your phone thinks it's a grandfather clock.

LOL, I don't have an answer to the original question but that just made me laugh out loud
Beeping
I do hear a beep, i think when the wifi shuts off. cannot figure out how to turn it off.
It annoys the living crap out of me.
basicly everytime i use the phone or hit a button and the wifi radio is turned on. after screen shuts off it beeps about 10 seconds later.
anyone else ?
wm6 of course.
Completely different, and unrelated to the topic...

Startup/Shutdown sounds

Hi all, I got my Desire from T-Mobile UK a few days ago and when I first got it it used to make a noise while starting up and shutting down (Admittedly the shutdown sound was getting interrupted by the device switching off halfway through the sound being played lol).
Anyway I have been playing with it a bit and reset back to factory settings a few times (just been experimenting to find out how I'd like to personalise it best for me) and now I have noticed that these sounds are no longer playing even after a fresh factory reset. Anyone know why?
Sorry folks, ignore that. I just shut down and got the sound (with it's usual interruption). I didn't get a sound after the reset though and still am not getting a startup sound.
Maybe there never was one and I'm imagining things? Must be going senile in my old age lol
Does anyone know if it's possible to delay the shutdown a bit so that the sound plays completely before the device switches off? I'm new to Android!
Did you enable the SD Card notifications? I have a feeling it's the notification of the SD Card getting unmounted but the phone turning off cuts it off before it finishes?
Can you turn the startup sound off? It's annoying.
No but you can put it on silent before you turn off and it won't make a noise when you next turn it on?

If you are referring "off" as phone is shutdown, it means that the alarm clock will not work. This is simply because the OS is not loaded and there is no power to the phone. This is same as your laptop or an computer where you shutdown it and try to run an scheduled task.
Hope this helps.
It's just one of the many 'steps down' from regular Sony Ericsson phones (the ones without Android). I've found quite a few actually. It'd be nice if Sony Ericsson could re-add these things to Android:
FM Radio Alarm
Custom Calendar reminders (not only the pre-set amounts of time)
Alarm while the phone is off
It's all little things, but they're all things I loved my Sony Ericsson Elm and G705 for that simply aren't there anymore. And that's a shame!

If I'm not wrong, it's Android OS and not SE. Once the phone is off, the OS is unloaded from the memory completely. Just think your phone like your computer .
I still want my phone to be a phone
okay so my phone is a computer and not a phone any more witch angers me just a bit , some of my old sony ericssons had features that that some developers are charging for with there apps in the market like recording calls and I don't think having the alarm go off when the phone is off is asking for much
and a physical hang up button would be nice too I think touch screens are a bit of a fad right now that will wear off eventually even though they are quite useful all's I'm saying is we shouldn't forget how to walk just cause we have learnt how to fly otherwise we might crash and if I'm late for work cause my phone didn't go off you can mark that down as an EPIC fail in the not so smart so call smart phone category though I may be speaking to soon there might be an app for this .

I think you should first define what you mean by Phone Is Off.
If you mean the phone can only be put on by the holding the power button...I don't think this is possible at all (and never was).
If you mean the phone can be put on by any button and only the screen is off that's different story.....that should be possible since the phone is not OFF. It's similar to having screensaver on your computer.

your a crack head when i say the phone is off that means shut down turned off by the power button the phone is either off or on it's not hard to figure out !
I actually agree with him

I actually agree with him, I wondered what you meant by "off" because what really seems idiotic to me is the idea that the phone should perform any action whatsoever when the OS isn't even loaded on memory. Now if you had your phone on sleep mode and the alarm didn't set off, I can see how that constitutes a problem.

I'm sure everybody can differentiate between "Screen off" and "Phone off".
I don't know about you but it was pretty straight forward for me.

And to add to it....no !
O yes, some phones had the alarm feature in the past, I remember from a nokia I once had. It sure was nice when having an empty battery or just switching off for the night.
But since I switched to WM and android later no phone could do this anymore. But he, who shuts down his phone ever nowadays
Sent from my Arc
This is about an alarm that can not survive when the phone is switched off
I am also looking for a decent breakfast about once an alarm to be alive when we turn off the phone.
because this is the first android phone and my favorite.
computer and to my knowledge only if we turn off the alarm can live as long as the power cord is not detachable and certainly with the alarm on through bios
I hope there is a way to alarm my life for android
Im totally with Torres77an. I've had 20 years of phone alarms that work when my phone is off. And by off I mean off! Lol
Now we can't get that feature? I don't care if I can put it in airplane mode all night. I prefer it off! Im actually using a 4 year old phone that has this feature... But trying to upgrade? Im picky and this is a feature that I want! Im not the only one. You'd think with all the technology around now that the manufacturers could sort it out! We had it in the 90's we had it up until a couple of years ago.

[Q] Lollipop may have broken my alarm

I've been noticing that my alarm doesn't continue ringing in the morning anymore. The sound clip (stock sounds) go off for about 1-2 seconds, and then shut off. This only started to happen after Lollipop on my stock G2. The only thing that I've done to it is rooted it, but haven't messed with anything otherwise.
I have to now place five or six alarms at varying times to make sure that at least one of them goes off completely.

M8S Problems

Hi guys
I got an HTC M8s less than 2 months now and it has so many issues it's driving me insane at this stage....
It's on stock ROM unrooted with all the latest updates.
First issue that came up was not recognising the headphones after i plugged them in, that eventually went away after lots of searching and fiddling with settings etc.
Then it started going into Car mode while it was resting on the table, no input on my end no triggers set for it, hell i don't even own a car to use this function....
I disabled HTC car and that stopped.
The included micro usb cable somehow went bad, tried it on other devices, it will not charge....
Now i'm having some weird charging behaviour, it drops out of charging and resumes or sometimes it just stops charging (that doesn't happen when the phone is charging while being switched off, so i'm guessing it's not a hardware issue)
Another massive problem is that all incoming/outgoing calls go to the speaker which almost burst my ear drum first time that happened.
I have looked in every single forum out there and have tried all possible solutions, ranging from disabling google Chrome to trying every available speaker management/toggle related program on the play store but nothing seems to be working.
Some times if i plug in the headphones, make a call and then unplug them, then it works as it should for a little while. But later on it reverts to the previous mentioned behaviour.
One thing i have noticed, before it routes calls to the speaker, the screen will light up, no notifications come up and then all calls go to the speaker.
I used Wakelock to try and find out which program triggers the screen wake in order to remove it and maybe solve this issue but nothing came up.
Any input would be greatly appreciated as i am at the end of my rope with this device....
I still have my HTC DHD A9191 and i never had any issues with that phone, i'm very dissappointed with HTC :/
Thanks in advance
Yanni
Less then 2 months......return it ! Not even sure what you want to achieve here besides messing up warranty ?
I am using Spign slim armor case on m8s and after using it my power button isn't working.
and I have a Motion Launch problem when phone is on my pocket it opens camera, calls someone because of the sensor.Any fix about that?

ok man
look i have htc one m8 + one m7+one max
the one m7 had the same problem of u
i will give to you one solution for try
i try it on the one m7 and its work
but on one max not work
on m8 not test yet
try this:
1. Turn phone OFF
2. Let charge for AT LEAST 10mins even if it doesn't look like it's charging.
3. Press and hold POWER + VOL UP + VOL DOWN for AT LEAST 2mins. Anything less will not reset the charge mode.
4. After 2mins release the buttons and the phone should boot as normal
if it not charge at the first time then try it again andd u will be OK
Hi Hazem
Thanks for the input, i'll give this a go when i get back home and let you know if it works out.
Should i try this when the phone is at 4-5% ? And then let it charge all the way ?
I'm experiencing these same issues as well after rooting my M8. Hopefully someone here knows what the issue is.
Well for me all issues remain unresolved.
My guess so far for the culprit seems to be the magnetic sensor, either badly programmed or a factory defect.

u must charge ur phone
turn off the phone
let him charge to full about 3 hours
and try the method
it will work
i test it on 2 one m7 phones
let me know if that work
thx
Sorry Hazeem I understand that English isn't your first language, and you are trying to help but you are not making much sence....
You are basically telling me to charge my phone, then switch it off and charge it again even though it's already charged for another 3 hours....
Ok an update !
HTC Released a service pack along with an update for the car application, after installing these and a couple of reboots the charging problems stopped and the phone doesn't seem to be waking up without any reason, as it did before.
The calls getting routed to the speaker still remain but thanks to an app called Auto Speaker, I've managed to work around this issue. Before the updates this application had no effect, but now it works as it should by turning off the speaker when the proximity sensor is blocked.
I hope I am not celebrating too soon on this and I'll keep this post updated if anything else, related to these issues, happens.
Update 2
So far so good and with another unexpected benefit, I removed my phone from the charger Saturday morning around 11 and as of now Monday 7:30 it's at 27% !
