My WM6 Dash started doing a single beep at the stroke of midnight, every night. It also started making the same beep at bootup. Not a big deal, but would prefer it didn't do that (it didn't before). Not exactly sure when it started, about a month or so ago. Anyone else run into this, or figure out how to shut it off?
By chance do you have WIFI on?
...no... and -- it doesn't remain on during a bootup, so wouldn't be related to that beep on startup...

Maybe your phone thinks it's a grandfather clock.

LOL, I don't have an answer to the original question but that just made me laugh out loud
Beeping
I do hear a beep, i think when the wifi shuts off. cannot figure out how to turn it off.
It annoys the living crap out of me.
basicly everytime i use the phone or hit a button and the wifi radio is turned on. after screen shuts off it beeps about 10 seconds later.
anyone else ?
wm6 of course.
Completely different, and unrelated to the topic...

Hi all, I usually have my s621 set to vibrate and ring, just rescently ive noticed it isn't vibrating. I change the profile to vibrate only, and when I get a call or text, the screen lights up, but it still doesn't vibrate. I've only had it for like a month and a half. Any ideas, or ways to test it? Has anyone else had this happen with an htc dash, or any htc device really???
well i did a soft reset and the vibrate function seems to be working now. My s621 will live to see another day

Funny what a soft-reset can do, the IT crowd say it all the time "Turn it off & back on again"

It's true what you say, whenever my phone acts up, I'll soft reset or I just turn it off for a couple of minutes and its back to running great.
my TP2 has stopped turning the screen off automatically. i don't know what triggered the change but the screen doesn't turn of automatically anymore after I use the phone, or if it gets activated in anyway (receiving an SMS, a phone call, ...). i check the settings/system/power and 'Turn off backlight if device is not used for' is selected with the time set to 30 seconds. however thebacklight never turns off. any ideas how to fix this? thanks much!

this happened to me a while ago as well, sadly the only way i was able to fix it was by doing a hard reset. but maybe someone else will know a better way to fix it.

thanks. a hard reset would be a last resort! i have many tweaks and too many apps to give up on easily. any other solutions out there?
I have the same problem but mine also turns on itself! When I turn it off with key it takes appr. 10 seconds and then it turns itself on. This does not happen all the time but when it has started I do not know how to stop it but it stops itself after a while. Soft reset does not help.
Have tried hard reset and then it use to wor a few days then it comes back. Very frustrating as it drains the battery fast.
Hello all,
Since this morning I have a problem with my DHD. When I turn off the screen, it is supposed to stay of until I turn it on again. Since this morning it starts turning itself on over and over again. Everytime I turn off the screen, it switches on in a few seconds. But once it's on it doesn't go off by itself. So I doubt if it is a problem with the on/off switch. What else could it be?
Edit:
This seems not to happen when the phone is connected with an USB cable. Either on my PC or on the regular power charger.

Have you installed anything new at all. Also have you restarted the phone since it began exhibiting this behaviour. Make sure it's a proper restart aswell by turning off fastboot i settings, it's under power settings I believe.
Thanks for your fast reply.
I have not installed anything new since two days ago. And the problem really started this morning. So I guess it is not caused by a program I installed a couple of days ago.
I have indeed restarted my phone. Also turned it off, toke the battery out and waited a couple of minutes (just to make sure it was really really really turned off) but this did not solve the problem.
The thing I find very weird is that it does not happen when the phone is attached to USB...

Maybe USB debugging, or possibly a short on the mini USB connector. What firmware do you have on the phone?
Android 2.3.3
HTC Sense 2.1
I also think it might have something to do with a short in the micro USB connector. Have cleaned when the phone was of. Seems to have solved the problem, but that's only for the past few minutes...

Darn! The problem still isn't gone. It appears to be less frequent than an hour ago, but the screen still turns on every couple of minutes
This is happening to me as well. The phone screen keeps coming on and then going off after a bit. This and randomly going into car mode and whenever I make or receive calls, the phone speaker is switched on automatically.

Indeed! I just noticed that too. I received a call and my speaker was turned on without me turning it on manual..
Update: my phone stopped switching its screen on automatically, but the problem with the speaker still is not gone.
My DHD has started showing both of these symptoms, ie, switching itself on from standby and the speaker phone being activated on incoming calls .. ever since I upgraded to Android 2.3. I'm not sure if this is something to do with 2.3, the DHD or T-Mobile (my provider) .. or a combination of all 3.
And an app called Car Panel keeps launching ..

I have this problem, too.
Before the last update of my DHD the backlight turns on in standby for some milliseconds. I saw only a short flash in standby.
After my update to version 2.3 this happens everey 7 minutes.
And the backlight is on for about 10 seconds, then turns off for the next 7 minutes.

DHD light off on
I had the same problem going to settings/dock and turning off auto launch and then power setting turning off fast boot appears to work so far
Hi all,
I'm having an irritating problem with my phone...I'll describe it fully below in steps:
1. Phone is in sleep mode in the pouch.
2. I can hear it is ringing but I'm not willing to answer.
3. I get the phone out of the pouch to find it still AWAKE....
I thought this may be an incidence of any app running in background or may be it is me who opened it by accident when getting it out of the pouch...
I tried this now, i put the phone infront of me, rang on it, it has been awake now for two hours while the screen time out is set for 30 seconds...
This problem is draining the battery, I could see the battery going down from 85% to 40% during the test
Can anybody help on this ?
Isn't the screen supposed to switch on when the phone rings? Mine does.
I think his problem is that the screen/phone isn't going back to sleep after the call..

Yesssss....that is exactly what I meant !!!!
I downloaded the JB 4.1.1 ROM off of RootWiki and installed it via ClockworkMod. I chose the JellyBelly-6.3 build number and have been having some issues.
The first is that when i receive or make a call, I cannot be heard on the other end unless speaker phone is on. Along the same lines, when i pick up a call, the caller hears a loud static burst which then stops after a second or two.
The second issue im having is that when my phone gets low on battery, it notifies me as usual (you hvae 14% remaining plug in your charger), but then the battery icon appears as if the phone is plugged in for a moment, and then falls back into red and notifies me again. It does this over and over until the phone dies, notifying me once every few seconds, beeping and interrupting anything that i'm trying to do.
Im sorry if this has been posted elsewhere but is anyone else having these issues? Im lost as far as how to fix these issues. Thanks for any help

This sounds like a lot of issues. Honestly the best thing to do might be too full wipe and reinstall the ROM. If the problem persists then try another ROM.

Well.. first it would be wise to report this on rootzwiki.
Second, I'd do what he said and do the wiping process.. it could be ROM issues too.
