Hello everyone, i have updated my mi a2 lite to android 10 from Android 9 a few days ago, and have noticed that apps no longer have acces to the microphone despite having the permission to do so.
I have restarted the phone and that fixes the problem for a few hours and then it comes back.
Has anyone experienced the same bug ?
And does anyone know of a permanent fix for this ?
Thanks
I tried a recorder app and it work right after update to 10. Also had call today, mic works.
I'm sorry for my english...
I don't know if it's a permission issue. But I often have problems with the microphone. Voice recordings of whatsapp; Video recordings; Google Assistant and others. It temporarily resolves by restarting the Smartphone. I'm not the only one who has a problem. In the Italian facebook group Mi A2 lite support it seems that everyone has the problem. Indeed, according to our survey, it is the most annoying bug of Android 10 on the Mi A2 lite
Also, when it works, the recording volume is still low

I tried it after the first release of Android 10. And the problem was not solved.
After I forced the update to the second version of Android 10 but I have not yet reset again.
I'll let you know if other people have done it

Possible fix
Hello everyone, after looking on forums it seems the problem has been reported on many devices from several manufacturers running Android 10. One possible fix is to go to google play services and deny it access to the microphone which seems to resolve the problem. So i have done just that yesterday and so far the microphone seems to work properly for now

Unfortunately it didn't work for me. It's simple verified. The problem usually occurs after a whatsapp video call.

Yes i just realized that my just now, after a video call it happened again, this is so annoying to have to restart the phone after every video call.
Tonight I will try to restore to factory data. There is too much discrepancy between what different people say. If this does not work, we will have to wait and hope for a future corrective update.
Same problem.
Some people have told me that after recovery they have not resolved so I avoided. But perhaps we have found a temporary solution pending a corrective update. Try to disable "Hey Google" from the Google application settings. It seems to work

I don't know is it the same problem as in the first post but my situation it seems the same. I have Redmi 7A with MIUI Global 11.0.7.0 and some time ago mic on earphones (connected via 3.5 jack) stopped work. Phone, Skype etc don't use any mic when I call with earphones+mic connected to phone. I tried a lot of programs to control mic and Lesser AudioSwitch helped but only for 1 day, after that the problem with mic magicly appeared again and nothing can help. I sent request to MI support.

Thank you, this has worked for me !!!
I've reported this on the 12th of March after receiving that buggy Android 10 partial release. They made me send them some debug logs and so I did, they said they would fix it and now they recommend me disabling a feature I actually use! Why don't they fix it instead of making me disable necessary features?! :crying:

I have some screen glitches and it is pretty annoying...
I notice it especially when in the browser and when the menu of the browser comes on the screen... Is this a hardware or a software problem?
Saw it on the home screen too sometimes when i want to scroll the homescreens the status bar glitches while scrolling...
Anyone noticed this?
Also when entering system task manager I always only have like 200mb free space? When i choose end all, i have like 300. So there is almost always 3/4 in use? Is this normal?
Other question:
I was trying teeter earlier, and It isn't as smooth as on other devices. The ball doesn't run smooth on the screen, it stutters especially when you tilt the phone and the ball should go fast... Anyone notice this too?
Other questions and concerns can be placed here.
I will also try to make a movie of the screen glitches...
Thanks for the answers!
Edit: So someone else posted pictures of the problem in dropdown menu in the browser, it is exactly the same as mine.
Glitch pics
And a video also from the same user:
Glitch movie
And from another user who captured the status bar glitch(that i also have):
Status bar glitch
please describe your glitches and bad teeter is it only on low battery only?

No my battery is 55% now, I played it again, and when also when trying to move the ball slowly, sometimes the balls makes a little 'jump' instead of rolling smooth...
And the glitches is, that the there are horizontal lines of the things on the screen, i don't know what could cause it?? Is it hard or software... Will try to make a little clip of it tommorow when it happens again.

I only have my phone for a day but I definitely encountered those screen glitches, i think 3 times since. It usually happened on top of the screen. I think it's only software bug(let's hope).
I did test one in three store and found it was lagging. Scrolling through different screens s sluggish very surprising and poor. The phone also froze hopefully it was software issue!!!
Anybody noticed a small blue patch on the screen? A few cases are reported in Singapore.
It can only be seen if the screen has a black background. Try using the camera app and cover the lens with your hands.
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
most reviewers except two reported no glitches, faulty units?
Same problems as the OP here.
All software bugs I would say, there are plenty of small software bugs/glitches I have found so far.
I think they'll release an update soon, well.. they should.
Remember many reviews were based on later firmware than is (currently) publicly available. If reviewers saw bugs in earlier firmware, then saw it fixed in final firmware, it would be unlikely that they'd mention the bugs. They wouldn't have been expecting units to reach retail before the updates (and their reviews) were available...

i think a lot of apps need to update for ICS and tegra 3. i don't even know what teeter is. but yeah maybe HTC has some updating to do, too.
i posted this in the other thread but got no response
reviewers who faced this related it to applied pressure on screen, when the affected area is pushed the screen might move a bit or flex and the glitch appear, can you test?
owners with the glitches should immediately contact HTC the more you complain the sooner you get a solution
we have one feedback so far

Dear Stefano Ferri,
Thank you for contacting HTC.
Dear Mr. Stefano, regarding your enquiry, kindly try the following steps:
Please try to: enter the safe mode on your phone and check if you still have the same issue . You can enter safe mode by:
Safe mode:
Press power key to switch off the device
1. Press " power key " for power on device
2. Wait until "HTC logo" appears on screen
3. Press and hold " Volume down key " until entering OS
4. " Safe Mode " text will appears on the lower left of screen Safe mode will disable all 3rd party apps and only preinstalled apps will work, this is done because some of 3rd party apps can interfere with your phone functionality.
5. If the device is working properly in "safe mode" please try to remove the 3 party applications, or remove the latest 3rd parties that you installed..
If this doesn't resolve your issue then you need to factory data reset your phone. You can do that by:
Warning: Resetting your phone will erase your phone completely. Remember to back up your phone information and settings.
Please press MENU on the Home screen, then tap Settings > Phone storage > Factory data reset > Reset phone.
NOTE: Resetting your handset to factory or manufacturer's default setting will delete all the data stored on your phone memory, please back up your files first.
If these steps don't resolve your issue, please, immediately take back your new device to the retailer where you bought it and ask for the replacement/new device.
If you have any other inquiries, don’t hesitate to contact us again.

Hi,
My home button long press stopped working, I don't know why. Google Now doesn't show up when I long press, it used to...
I went to Settings » Apps » Configure Apps » Default Apps » Assist & voice input > Assist app and it's set to "Google app", so everything is configured properly.
The home button itself is working. When I press it, it goes to the home screen. And it«s also working for fingerprint unlocking. The only thing not working is long press to open Google Now.
I'm on a completely stock ROM, I only have Root + Xposed. I've already tried to disable Xposed and reboot to see if any modules were preventing the long press, but nope. The problem persists without Xposed.
What could it possibly be? Any thoughts?

Does the Google app work on its own? Did you install something like Greenify or Titanium Backup and freeze the Google app?
Yes, it works on its own. I have greenify, but I haven't freezed anything related to the Google app (just Google+). Everything else hibernated are non-Google apps.
I just disabled Greenify app, rebooted and the long press still does nothing. I guess the problem is not Greenify...

Just retested and my phone immediately started ringing. This time I used the Do Not Disturb function to silence the phone. (Verified that setting worked by calling the phone and no vibration or ring.) But the phone immediately rang on command via Android Device Manager / find my phone.
Also - probably not relevant but I upgraded to September security release this morning as well. My first test was on the initial Pie (August) release. DND test was on September release.
Many thanks for the effort and detailed response. Glad to hear it's just me, and probably a glitch that the September release hopefully captures.
I installed the Google Phone app from the play store. I set it as default phone app. I enabled all permissions including draw over other apps. I checked the notification settings and the priority is Urgent. All that being said, my screen does not turn on for incoming calls. I have to use fingerprint unlock to get my screen on and then I can swipe to answer the call. What setting am I missing to get my screen to turn on?

My LG8 is enroute, seems to work fine on the LG g6 i have it on.. will test next week on the G8
Dialer app working fine on the G6, my G8 came today, tested it there before I had to send it back. A replacement is coming in a few days.
I confirm the Google Phone app and also Orange Phone app do not wake up the screen . Simpler dialer app on the other side does...
My google phone app wakes the screen up without any issue G8 T-Mobile version
Maybe it's some kind of PERMISSIONS issue?
Same permissions for different apps..one does wakes up the screen, Google phone does not....
Back to default dialer for now
Google dialer waking screen here on a AT&T LG G8. I did have to "clear defaults" in the OEM dialer app (which is really contacts).
Just got the phone a few days ago and thanks to this thread for making me realize I could install the google dialer from the store. I experienced the same issue and then after a little digging it seems to work for me now after I turned off adaptive battery under Settings > General >Battery > Adaptive Battery. Because its installed from the play store it was considered a regular app as opposed to system and would get background restricted (in my case anyway). Also make sure background process is not restricted.
Still having issues
Guys, can you help me with this same issue? I have a factory unlocked G8 and tried everything mentioned so far in this thread. I can't get the Google Dialer to wake the screen, no matter what I do. Any other suggestions on what to try?

Working just fine here on 10.04
Try to go in assistants app battery optimization settings and change it to don't optimize. I'm thinking it's the one plus software trying to optimize battery, so assistant is not running in the background and picking up the ok Google
Done this also and it didn't help
Same issue here. 10.0.4. "Tried Everything" No solution. Works once after reboot. Then nothing. Works with the app. The rest of the time, not responding with voice command ok google.

I couldn't even configure Android Assistant. I had to go to the Google app in the PlayStore, uninstall updates and only then was I able to enable the assistant. After the Google app auto-updated, the assistant settings remained enabled. You may have to uninstall the updates as well.

Matter of point being, the google assistant integration iteself has issues , if you could make it work thats great but it would most likely be temporary
Happened to me also. Installing beta app helped me. Make sure battery saver is turned off.
You need to configure google assistant for that. Long press the home button and once the assistant pops up, swipe up to configure the settings and let the assistant recognize your voice. Worked for me.
I've tried a lot of recommendations in here and still can't get "Ok Google" or "Hey Google" to work. It works only when I manually open the assistant from de bottom corner up but it doesn't work with screen off or outside the assistant activated bar.
Google home > Assistant > at the end of this screen, select your phone > activate "Voice Match"

It's on, retrained voice and it still doesn't work.
Try to disabling installed apps. After disabling every app try to say "ok Google".
Hope You will find app which is causing problems
Do you have an app installed which simulates a led notification? Like NotifyBuddy, LEDBlinker etc Uninstall that one and try again.

This was it, I had the "Shake Light" too shake the screen and turn on the flashlight, uninstalled it and the "Ok google" worked again. Thank you very much!

I literally don't have any apps installed other than google apps and XDA.
Still get the "google assistant unavailable" every so often when I try engage. So very frustrating. Anyone else have any advice on how to get it working reliably?

I noticed the same OK Google issue with Notify Buddy installed, I just uninstalled it and OK Google now works again. Maybe there's a setting in Notify Buddy that can help use it without interfering with the Assistant function?
