Is it only me, or someone else is having issue with running Google assistant?
Tried reset voice commands, clear data for Google app, reinstal Google assistant, I followed help on Google site, nothing is working.
When I run assistant from app it is working, but no reaction on command "ok Google"

Working just fine here on 10.04
Try to go in assistants app battery optimization settings and change it to don't optimize. I'm thinking it's the one plus software trying to optimize battery, so assistant is not running in the background and picking up the ok Google
Done this also and it didn't help
Same issue here. 10.0.4. "Tried Everything" No solution. Works once after reboot. Then nothing. Works with the app. The rest of the time, not responding with voice command ok google.
Have given up on it since 2-3 Android generations, I hardly even use the google assistant

I couldn't even configure Android Assistant. I had to go to the Google app in the PlayStore, uninstall updates and only then was I able to enable the assistant. After the Google app auto-updated, the assistant settings remained enabled. You may have to uninstall the updates as well.

Matter of point being, the google assistant integration iteself has issues , if you could make it work thats great but it would most likely be temporary
Happened to me also. Installing beta app helped me. Make sure battery saver is turned off.
You need to configure google assistant for that. Long press the home button and once the assistant pops up, swipe up to configure the settings and let the assistant recognize your voice. Worked for me.
I've tried a lot of recommendations in here and still can't get "Ok Google" or "Hey Google" to work. It works only when I manually open the assistant from de bottom corner up but it doesn't work with screen off or outside the assistant activated bar.

Try to disabling installed apps. After disabling every app try to say "ok Google".
Hope You will find app which is causing problems
Do you have an app installed which simulates a led notification? Like NotifyBuddy, LEDBlinker etc Uninstall that one and try again.

Still get the "google assistant unavailable" every so often when I try engage. So very frustrating. Anyone else have any advice on how to get it working reliably?

I noticed the same OK Google issue with Notify Buddy installed, I just uninstalled it and OK Google now works again. Maybe there's a setting in Notify Buddy that can help use it without interfering with the Assistant function?

I really like the Moto X is the "always listening" feature.
I finally figured out how to implement such a feature on the Note 3, and thought I share.
Basically, while the screen is off, say "Hi, Galaxy". S-Voice will activate. S-Voice sucks. So, ask S-Voice to kindly "Open Google Search".
Once Google Search/Now is opened, you can use it fully. Just say "Okay, Google" before every command.
If you haven't done it already, you'll need to update to the latest Google Search/Now to be able to issue continuous "Okay, Google" commands.
Side note: there's Open Mic+ app (awesome app). However, it doesn't have always listening while screen is off yet. So, use S-Voice to wake up the phone from screen off.
Still trying to figure out a way to automatically jump straight into Google Now upon "Hi, Galaxy" command. Any idea?
If you use Tasker this is a very simple profile to implement. Just make a profile for whenever "s-voice" opens to auto open "voice search".
There is a small delay in between, but it's much more streamlined than saying "hi Galaxy" and then "Ok Google" after.
I'm fairly sure there are other automation apps out there that can do the same thing, maybe even free, but I use Tasker myself.
Hope that helps
Lol. Is there a way to do hi galaxy, ok google, how about you Jarvis?

Thanks this works quite well for me in particular in my car as s voice doesn't work well with my cars Bluetooth however google voice search does. So I have Tasker enable it when I'm connected to my cars Bluetooth. But I still prefer s voice when I'm not in my car so I have Tasker set up to go back to svoice when my phone disconnects from my car. Tasker is awesome.

I would like to resurrect this old thread and see if there has been any further development on this. I would like to have my phone automatically open google voice search with the "Hi Galaxy" command and I have tried some of these apps (not Tasker yet) but they have not worked consistently. Sometimes they work and sometimes not. And also sometimes I get a wakelock that drains my battery and if I greenify or disable wakelock for that app it doesn't work.
There has to be a way for a Dev to make it work like stock. Any ideas out there?
Should be an easy way with a rooted phone.

This worked but like you sometimes it was hit or miss. I haven't tried it in a few weeks though.
Anyone else have this problem?
Basically when using Google Now Voice Commands it keeps searching and then says "Offline".
I find this strange because it is still connected to my phone and I still receive notifications such as text messages.
Anyone know what the cause of this issue is?
Thanks!

My solution was to kill the process by doing to Recent Apps screen and swiping it away. I then tried "OK Google" again on the phone to see if it works. Generally, it comes back working and then the Moto 360 responds to my voice query.

I believe I figured this out. In Google now settings there is a allow search from lock screen option. This seems to be the hangup when the watch is on and phone is off
i have the same problem too, please help me i'm going crazy
help me please i have the same problem, and i notice when i try to respond one message with voice, it shows "google now not available" or something like that, please help me!!
Having lots of difficulties with "OK Google" on this watch. Bluetooth stays connected fine and so does wifi because i'm getting all my notifications instantly and it doesnt say that im disconnected. When I say OK Google the prompt comes up to speak...but only like 4 of the 30 times I tried did it actually work and not show the cloud symbol. I restarted the watch a couple times and the same thing happens, i've also done a factory reset since purchasing the watch 4 days ago. Thoughts? Thanks.

I've not had it work once yet. The mic works as if I manually launch it everything seems fine.
I've tried restarts, factory resets & all the above. I'm pretty close to returning in all honesty as the voice launch is a huge deal for me!
I use my Huawei Watch with a OnePlus One on stock COS12.1 and have the same problem.
A lot of times when I use the watch to say "Okay Google" it will tell me it's disconnected. The only work-around I found was to quickly wake up the phone and it would start working right away. It seems like the internet pauses if my phone has been idle too long. I receive notifications in real time so I don't know what's really causing it.
I had the same problem with the huawei and a dutch HTC one M8.
The problem was gone after changing "Google voice typing primary language" from dutch in english.
And teach Google the sound of my voice in "OK Google" detection =>> From any screen.
Try turning off the restricted data for google app and google play services under Data Usage in settings.

Dang, I was wondering about that. Sorry!
Hi,
My home button long press stopped working, I don't know why. Google Now doesn't show up when I long press, it used to...
I went to Settings » Apps » Configure Apps » Default Apps » Assist & voice input > Assist app and it's set to "Google app", so everything is configured properly.
The home button itself is working. When I press it, it goes to the home screen. And it«s also working for fingerprint unlocking. The only thing not working is long press to open Google Now.
I'm on a completely stock ROM, I only have Root + Xposed. I've already tried to disable Xposed and reboot to see if any modules were preventing the long press, but nope. The problem persists without Xposed.
What could it possibly be? Any thoughts?

Does the Google app work on its own? Did you install something like Greenify or Titanium Backup and freeze the Google app?
Yes, it works on its own. I have greenify, but I haven't freezed anything related to the Google app (just Google+). Everything else hibernated are non-Google apps.
I just disabled Greenify app, rebooted and the long press still does nothing. I guess the problem is not Greenify...

I have the same problem on huawei p8. It was working well then abruptly stopped.. i've followed all advice but nothing has resolved it.. If i turn off the reading text on screen and screenshot toggles in the assist options, google on tap loads but it's just the google now screen.. nothing about what is on screen. the reading text on screen was awesome especially for translations.. i hope someone can help us resolve this.

Has anyone obtained success using "Ok Google" with screen off to activate Google Assistant?
I wonder if that even works. I've tried myself on Lineage OS and stock... no positive result so far.
I checked trusted voice, and a bunch of tricks to get it to work... still no good.
If that worked for me, the assistant would be WAY more useful.

It doesn't launch the Google Assistant though, it only brings Google Search.
It's a bug on Google's part. It used to work good but Google messed up.
Yup, that's what I thought. Google app may be to blame, since the feature is supported by the device itself. Perhaps trying the most recent beta would bring some light to this...
Thanks for both answers!
i would think it's the Moto app's fault. i've never had any issues with other devices. Try disabling the Moto app?

It can be done and isn't the problem of google.
First open google assistant by long pressing home button then click on 3 dots and scroll down and click "Ok Google detection" option then click or enable "Say ok google at any time".
The problem is that the "Say OK Google any time" setting doesn't stay on. Once i exit the Assistant settings it gets disabled.
And yes, all settings are correct, the only language is US English and so on. Tried freezing the Moto Voice app in TB, no luck.
The problem is within the Assistant app, saw a lot of threads for a lot of devices with this issue.
I am running the beta version for Play Services and Google apps.

You can try wipe cache partition to solve this
Ok, i left the beta programs, i'm back on the stock apps.
The setting now stays on, but "OK Google" doesn't work when screen is off.
If i press the power button then say "OK Google" it works, it unlock the phone and everything.
Wiping cache / clearing all data for the Google app didn't help.

First you said that it doesn't work then you said it works? can you explain what's the problem now?
And
I was not talking about clearing cache of google app. Wipe cache partition is different that is done in recovery mode.
Steps for cache partition:
https://motorola-global-portal.cust.../113289/~/clear-cache-partition---moto-z-play
I wiped the cache partition, and in addition, i cleared the cache of the google app.
It's still not working when the phone is locked / screen off, but, If i press the power button (without unlocking the phone) just to turn the screen on, and then i say Ok Google, it works.
Is it clear now?
The only difference between the beta and the stock app, is that in the stock app the "Say OK Google at any time" setting stays on.

Okay so same here. I can use google assistant normally eg "ok google" and it'll work if its charging or if the screens on. Standard google stuff. Except the moto keyword still triggers google voice search. Best I can come up with is the two haven't updated to work with each other yet.

Pretty much it, I believe. Motorola and Google need to have a beer at some point to settle this issue. It really makes no sense at all to ignore this, considering that Moto Voice works under screen off. Perhaps some minor tweak on Moto Voice itself to launch Google Assistant instead of Google Now will suffice...
Has anyone had a solve for this issue? I have tried all combination of settings from using Moto Assist detect, to trying to only use Google App's and nothing works to launch Assistant.
