I'm using stock rooted AT&T Jellybean and, every time my wifi loses signal (like when I leave my home for example), a list of available wifi networks pops up. Going to Advanced Wifi Settings and disabling Network Notification has no impact on this, so I'm guessing it's some idiocy put in there by AT&T. Does anyone know how to get rid of this? It's really infuriating because the popup blocks the entire screen every single time I lose wifi signal. Thanks.

Other than flashing a custom ROM, I'm not sure :/
Hello,
I've found out that my wifi calling is being used even though I have it off in the settings of the phone. Although it's off I still can select the options under Connection Preferences: Wifi Perfered, Cellular Networkin Prefered and Never use Cell Network (not sure if that matters or not). I choose the 2nd option and noticed dropped calls around the outer edge of my wifi. But wifi calling is turned off. How do you permanently turn this feature off?
I do use wifi when I'm within my wifi area. But had no idea that wifi calling was still being used when set to off. Do I have to disable wifi all together?
Ok. I've found out that this is known issue doing more a search online. The only fix is to disable wifi altogether. There have been other suggestions but none of them fix it. I've heard that exchanging the sim chip that disables wifi calling might work but haven't heard anything consistent with that fix.
I'm just perplexed by this. This is a great phone yet whenever you enable wifi you enable wifi calling regardless if it's off. I just don't get how something like this would be considered a standard feature when other phones just don't do that by default. If I didn't stumble upon this information I would have never guessed that it was the main cause for my dropped calls.
Thanks about that update it could help others soon.
NP, I have to wonder if this is really a standard none controllable feature on the phone or if the carrier can disable it?. If wifi calling is controllable on the phone and you can turn it on or off jet remain on then I have to wonder what other external force is keeping it on when you turn it off?
Did the maker just simply forget to remove the ability to control wifi calling because turning it off simply doesn't work.
or
Is this something that the carrier did
or
Is this something with the sim chip
Another thing I've found that seems to be related to this. If you try to access your acct while Wifi is enabled it suppose to switch from wifi to 4G but it doesn't (and you can't access your account in tmo. while in wifi. Perhaps different software updates were used but it was seamless back then on a different phone.
This brings up another interesting observation. Once wifi is enabled you can't auto enable your 4g network when it's needed. IE: You can't review your acct for one. Is there a way to make sure that your phone has 4G LTE priority whenever wifi is enabled?
I don't know also how to prioritize the 4G LTE over wifi, good observation.

Update, I was able to use an old version of my account (which was used on an older phone) and was able to confirm that it is programed to disable wifi connection and activate the 4g services while using the my acct app without having to disable wifi manually. A message even popped up to tell you so. And once you exited the my acct app it would restore your wifi connection from 4g. So it is controlled via the program itself.
So it begs the question, why doesn't the newer version not do this? This now looks like 2 separate issues with wifi and wifi calling.
Verify if Wifi Calling is still enabled even though you have it disabled
I just found a way to verify if wifi calling is still enabled even though you have it disabled on the Note 3. Here is what you need to do.
1. Make sure that wifi calling is disabled
2. Make sure that wifi is already enabled and in use
3. Stand right next to your wifi router
4. Make a call
5. Listen to hear any wired sounding ringback (the sound you hear to let you know that a call is actually ringing the recipients phone).
6. If you do notice a wired sounding ringback complete the call and stay on the line for about 30 seconds or so.
7. Disable wifi while on the call.
8. Once disabled did your call drop?
This is what I did in order to verify if wifi calling is still enabled even though I have it disabled on my phone.
I'm not going to say it's happening to every one. Nor would I suggest it's a bad feature for those who need wifi calling. I just don't understand why I'm forced to use wifi calling when I fully capable of using my 4g network.

Can you check and tell if you still have signal (bars) when you are connected to WiFi? Or does it become blank (0 bars)?

Standing right next to the router I have full bars.
no dropcalls for me with steps you have given

That is weird. I tried your steps, I couldn't recreate the problem. Just to make sure, I was talking about the phone network signal, not Wifi signal.
If the bars were becoming 0, there is a fix. But otherwise, it may be a faulty unit. You can try and get it replaced.
BTW, try this and see if it helps: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2698329
Thanks man! Gonna try this
Rahulisola, thanks for the link. I was able to fix the issue by doing a factory reset. Not sure what caused it but now I can disable wifi and the call stays connected. Although I found it odd that wifi calling was forced enabled during the reset while I was setting up the wifi network. Disabling it after the factory reset setup did prove it was really off this time. I also noticed that I'm not seeing "HD Voice" which I know assume is related to wifi calling. As I've seen HD Voice whenever I was within my wifi range during a call.
Also, Lorettaa thanks for looking into this as well. I really don't know what caused the problem but I'm glad it's fixed now . No more of pitched ring backs while making a call. And no more odd echo voices when talking. And most importantly no dropped calls.

Glad that it is solved. Usually I always do factory reset 1st and ask anyone with problems to do that too. My bad, I assumed you had already done it. Must be some other thread. Too much work catching up on me
Anyways, enjoy your fixed Note 3
I picked up this phone a few days ago and I just noticed that VOLTE wasn't working like it should. The settings menu shows that I have the option on, but everytime I make a call or receive a call it instantly switches from 4g to 1x, and therefore I don't have simultaneous voice and data. Anyone have this issue too?
I checked my Verizon account to see if that feature is enabled for my line. Advanced calling shows that VOLTE is on for calls and video chat. Turning it on and off doesn't change anything, turning wifi calling on and off doesn't affect it. I've tried rebooting, and no luck. Seems like a software issue?
I noticed this on a call today as well. Subscribing...
Perhaps the person on the other end needs it as well? I've found calls between my girlfriend and I would switch from HD to non-HD and it seemed like it was due to service on her end. Just a thought. Its actually only happened a couple of times to me.

No luck with that one either. I've tried calling other lines on my plans and I got the same results. My S5 did a pretty good job maintaining HD Voice every time I made a call to those lines where LTE coverage was available.
I called CS and they didn't say it was a common problem, but they put in a report pretty immediately for me and should have someone contacting me the next 24-48 hours.
Just a quick update. I didn't do anything, I used my phone as is and it just started switching to HD voice and maintaining LTE while calling. So either they did something on their side, or the phone is just a little buggy.
I have never had that VoLTE icon pop up on my phone but if I look in my recent calls list I do see a Wifi icon on some of the calls.. I assume this is VoLTE??

That's WiFi calling.
I have used WiFi calling and it seems to work alright. Is this the same as VoLTE? If it is not how do you enable VoLTE?
I just found it in settings, it is enabled however I have never seen any kind of an icon that it is working. How do I know if it is or isnt?
Where is the setting for VoLTE in Settings? I am not seeing it anywhere.
EDIT: A google search showed me it should be in call settings, but it is not there. Any help much appreciated.
I recently updated my Verizon Galaxy S9 to the Android Pie release. I had previously been using WiFi calling on my home network, but once I updated to the Pie release it no longer works. In fact, despite lots of interaction with Verizon support, I have been unable to even access the settings to enable WiFi calling. They simply are not there. Are others seeing this? Does WiFi calling work with Android Pie on Verizon?
Thanks,
Craig

I am wondering the same thing. After updating to Pie last night, my S9+ no longer has the WiFI calling feature.
Wi-Fi calling would help out big time since our cell tower strength is very low at my house. I hope this isn't Verizon's way of them forcing people to purchase their mobile extenders.
The Verizon support rep certainly seemed to believe it should have been there. To the point that she declared my phone has a manufacturing defect and shipped out a "new" one. I guess I will see if that one behaves any differently. Like you, I'm on the edge of the coverage and WIFI calling has been helpful for battery life.

Craig - I think I have some good news! To enable WiFi calling, go to your Phone app, then click on the menu on the top right hand corner and choose Settings. "Wi-Fi Calling" is shown on this screen.

Well, how 'bout that. Too bad that the VZW representative didn't know that! It would have saved a bunch of time.
except it doesnt turn on for me on my note 9 it just trys and says unable to at this time . The only way I can get mine on is to turn on airplane mode then turn on wifi , then try to call someone and turn on wifi from there. But after I take it out of Airplane mode I have to do it all over. Spent 1 hour on the phone with Verizon . I own my Construction Company and this is the only phone I have for work . On top of that we are in a dead zone in the middle of Denver Colorado where my Home/Office is. 1k POS phone is only good for a paper weight . I have to call with my google home. This is miserable. Yes, I factory reset and trouble shot for more hours than I can spare.
I know this is the S9 forum. But I just got the update on my Note 8 and my work S8. Both of them are having the same issue. There's a notification about Wi-Fi calling Saying to tap here to confirm or update Emergency Location Information. I tap that it Says loading this may take a few moments, then says it's unable to enable Wi-Fi calling. I go through the phone App and settings and try to enable it there and get the same results. Before PIE i had this enabled already on both phones too.
Saw the same issue on a T-Mobile forum. No resolution there either. https://support.t-mobile.com/thread/149929
I updated to pie on my Verizon note 8 yesterday, ever since I've had the same problem as twiggle ^
I can't get rid of the notification to update emergency location information and I can't turn on wifi calling. Same message as him.
Same in Note 8. Prior update fixed it when prior update broke it.
The only non-extreme way to remove notification is to force stop the system app... after every reboot.
Waiting for a VZW hotfix. Like I did for 6 months prior.
Same thing happened to me after the Pie update. Clearing data and cache allowed me to turn it on with my s8+. When I try to update emergency address, that still fails though.
Hello, I tried searching on XDA and elsewhere but could not find an answer so I hoping to receive help by writing my issue here.
I have bought two POCO F3's 128GB & 256GB on Amazon & Aliexpress respectively.
They both have the same issue when using mobile data (4g) loading websites and doing voice & | video calls like FB messenger there are interruptions like for a second there is no sound or video freezes. It does not happen on wifi or other phones.
I tried resetting APN, selecting proffered network to LTE, rebooting, switching SIM slot, resetting wifi, mobile and bluetooth settings. Updated both phones to MIUI Global 12.5.1 still no luck.
Country Lithuania (EU) carrier TELE2
We really like the phones, but this is pretty annoying as we do a lot of video calls due to quarantine and what not.
Amazon suggested to replace the phone but seeing as two of them having the same issue it will most likely will not help.
Anyone experienced these issues and came up with solution?
From what u described, seems to me is a bandwidth/mobile data speed problem. Looks like is not enough bandwidth for video call to work properly. So, what is ur bandwidth provided by ISP? What mobile data plan had from ur telephony provider? Maybe ur mobile data signal is low in the place where u make the call from. It can be so many reasons for the issue u confront with, other than a problem with phone itself (a hardware/software issue).
you can also try the latest china stable firmware 12.5.4

Hi, ty for reply. That should not be an issue, reception is great and we tried it in multiple locations. Our previous devices Iphone 6s/ Poco F1 worked flawlesly with the same carier.
Here is speed test done on mobile data.
Any other ideas?
Found this thread here and I found a solution. Apparently there's an issue with network interruptions in general, especially on phone calls. This can be avoided by switching on VoLTE and WiFi-Calling. This is what I found out over time.
Here's the fun part though: Through a little bit of research this turned out to be a vodafone-problem. I am just guessing you guys will be either also on vodafone or on the corresponding bandwidth in your country.
It seems to be a bug in the F3, but also something that happens when VoLTE is not activated for your SIM card. The phone will try to use VoLTE and this connection will fail, forcing the connection to reset. It will be back in 10-20 seconds, but this is of course super annoying whenever a stable connection is needed (like phone calls...)
Enter *#*#86583#*#* (86583 = VOLTE on dialpad) on your phone. and it will give you a feedback that the carrier check has been disabled. Note that this doesn't mean that VoLTE has been disabled. Checking the network for the capability is disabled then, which makes the setting visible on the SIM card settings. Same works for VoWifi btw.
Try playing around with those settings and see if the connection drops persist. I have no logical explanation why this is happening because what I am telling you is obviously call-related - and I do realize that what you're describing is about the data connection. For me this was related however and solved my issue.
Possible solutions:
a) try to get your service provider to switch on VoLTE for you (this worked for me). You're going to need to call support for that. They will reset your SIM card in the process. Reboot your phone and be done with it.
b) If a) is not possible, deactivate VoLTE in the menu that you activated with the code above. If you're lucky, this will stop the phone from trying to get this type of connection working, even though it's not available. This is broken exception-handling on the phone's side and Xiaomi promised to fix it. They are aware of the bug (since Aug 20th btw) and promised to push a fix into the next MIUI release
c) play with the settings and try to get the phone to not use alternative protocols, just 3G and 4G, also deactivate Wifi-Calling.
Hope this information will help somebody. If all goes well, Xiaomi will fix it and this will behavior will be gone in the next release.
same issue for me with 12.5.7
data interruptions all the time and full signal loss
very disappointed with this device from the day i got it.
O thought I'm the only one facing this problem.
It's so annoying to get an interrupted connection in the middle of the game.
not only game, and calls, i have too much trouble to get throught a call.
Hello all,
i was also affected by a similar issue.
In my case the symptoms were:
On mobile data/5G some apps would be accessing the internet but others wont..
I was able to overcome this by resetting the access point settings and then applying the ones found here:
Cytamobile-Vodafone Cyprus APN Settings for Xiaomi Poco F3 GT - APN Settings
apn.how
I hope it helps...
My fix for this occasional issue is to set the phone to '3g' only in network settings, then flick it back to '5g'. It seems to be area specific for me. Very bizarre.

It looks like we still have this problem, my F3 modem is crashing every few hours especially when it switches bands, very annoying.

It really is! We need a bug bounty for this
Hey I ran into the same problem in Hungary Vodafone Poco F3, 14.07 MIUI
4g net is working flawlessly but
Network connection is lost when start dialing
Nobody can reach me on phone
Enter *#*#86583#*#* (86583 = VOLTE on dialpad)
VoLTE select option turn on/off
Enter *#*#869434#*#*
VoWiFi select option turn on/off
I tried to switch on/off both but no solution just yet
sby has answer for this?
Where should I post this problem to be solved?
I also have this problem and I am from Iran. My mobile ROM is the global version. It seems that this problem is caused by the Poco F3 mobile hardware itself. If anyone finds a solution, please let me know, thanks.
