Hey all, I can see stuff in the marketplace but can't download anything right now.
Not even the updates for apps I already have.
Anyone else having this problem?

Not here. In fact, the market is working better than it ever has since WP7 launched. I suspect it might have been down for maintenance. Currently I can browse without any loading times. The app icons appear instantly and there, so far, has been no lag in loading from one scroll section to the next. Freezing no longer exists and the whole WP7 experience is pleasant, to say the least. And I'm even using AT&T data to browse the market rather than WiFi.
I'm thoroughly impressed with WP7 now.
The hardware and design of this phone are top notch - most features work really well except anything in regards to multi-tasking. I am very disappointed that its missing basic functionality I thought should be pretty standard these days especially on a flagship device. Case in point - Usa today app, its always been really nice while traveling since I can sync it before flying and read all the articles while in-flight on my iPhone during airplane mode, with the One X any open browser page or related app becomes a useless blank page when airplane mode is switched on. Heck even the picture I had open in the gallery section closed and took me back to the main gallery (picture) folder and of course this does not need an internet connection.
It looks like Sense 4.0 has eliminated multi-tasking, as much as I like the device otherwise I just cant give up so much basic functionality that I have been enjoying for years on other phones... Will probably have to return and go back to my iphone 4 for now.. Bummer -
It does not appear that HTC recognizes this short-coming as a problem and considers this normal functionality so I cant just wait for an update/fix...
Anyone else feel this way ?

multitasking is a bit of a joke on this phone. I hope HTC addresses this in a future update.
sent from my HTC One X
Since Sense + OS alone consume most of the ram (> 80%) on the device, I suppose integrated Android task killer is configured in some paranoid mode and is killing backgroups apps like crazy.
If this bothers you, I would install one of senseless ROMs on your HD2 and be happy Possibly there is also a way to make task killer more civilized in custom Sense ROMs.
Sadly, Sense 4.0 is quit bloated and One-X should have at least 1.5GB of RAM to begin with.
Yup, I agree, multitasking is really bad... All my dolphin browser pages reload if I click the home button and try to go back.
Sent from my HTC One X on Leedroid's ROM v5.1.0.
It will addressed with uopdates after all you bought a quad cote for multi tasking, some of xda chefs are communicating with HTC dev and we reported the very aggressive memfree values, also if you are rooted you can control them with supercharger script

When I change the wireless state on my i9100 the same thing happens so it's Android, not HTC or the One X. Even if the USA Today home page was retained clicking on any of the stories would result in an error because there's no wireless connection available. Get an app like Pocket that allows you to save articles from across the web for offline reading. The CNN app also gives you the option to save stories offline.
The multitasking on this phone sucks period. There is not justification. I should not be here looking for an answer. XDA devs should be enhancing the phone not trying to fix basic functionality. I hope HTC solves this problem before my trail period.

Do any of you understand how multitasking in Android even works? Even if a task is killed by the OS, apps developed that follow the published standard will re-launch in their last state in less than a second. And the better XDA devs should know that. So while HTC's memory management may be aggressive, there's more to it if individual apps aren't behaving correctly.

Its called a forum, in which I can and will reach out to others to get feedback on what I consider a situation with a very flawed segment of Sense which is making me contemplate returning an otherwise very nice device.
Look Apple has been doing this puesdo multi-tasking, app-pausing just fine since 4.0 what the heck is HTC thinking ? Browser tabs store just fine for days WITHOUT an internet connection. I geuss I am just expecting too much.
Sorry to interupt move along nothing to see here - lol
If you really want to pile-on, head over here. The XL'rs are far more up in arms than the X'rs.

I've asked the same questions of people that say the way multitasking is implemented is a real hardship but no one's answered. What's the harm? Of "X" hours a day using the phone, what percentage of your time is actually spent active in two (or more) apps simultaneously? And with a powerful processor it shouldn't matter whether a background app is in state or has to be restarted based on the way Android works (see below). I'm not trying to pick a fight I'm trying to understand the depth of the issue.
And since no one's read the article I linked to, here's the cruxt...
Once Android determines that it needs to remove a process, it does this brutally, simply force-killing it. The kernel can then immediately reclaim all resources needed by the process, without relying on that application being well written and responsive to a polite request to exit. Allowing the kernel to immediately reclaim application resources makes it a lot easier to avoid serious out of memory situations.
If a user later returns to an application that's been killed, Android needs a way to re-launch it in the same state as it was last seen, to preserve the "all applications are running all of the time" experience. This is done by keeping track of the parts of the application the user is aware of (the Activities), and re-starting them with information about the last state they were seen in. This last state is generated each time the user leaves that part of the application, not when it is killed, so that the kernel can later freely kill it without depending on the application to respond correctly at that point.
And based on this, the SGS3's handling memory managment just like the One X so there don't appear to be a lot of options for those with special multitasking needs.

Try to install Apex launcher free version and set it as default launcher. Reboot and see is situation get better. If works for you then it is sense problem.
It works like a charm on my X. No any problem for multitask. And it is so smooth.
Of course if you do want sense launcher then have to live with issue. But no harm to try Apex to see at least multitask can wrok or not
BarryH_GEG everything looks nice when you write it down like that but i remember SGS did better multitasking then my new double ram HTC One X, on daily basis it kills everything when i9000 never killed my GG chatting app or music player - both just should be ON all the time i was using them thats only 2 apps to handle
At a co-workers urging I installed Go-launcher today in hopes of a quick fix. yeah nothing, still re-renders everything fricken thing it touches.
Should I stil try Apex ?
Apex so far is best launcher for one X. I used it for 1 month. If it is not work for you I will post another solution which may help.
Apex- ok you might be on to something !
Can still hold app data while in airplane mode...

I dont think this is caused by sense taking up too much resources. Seems to be an ics inherent thing. The sgs3 was just reported to behave the same way.
Oh yes i tried the ipad3 the other day. The display was perfect but what surprises me is it multitasks amazingly well. I can have 5 - 6 apps open including youtube and browser with multiple tabs and it switches between them smoothly without once quiting the browser. Really sad to see android/ ics regressed to this state that ios significantly beat it.
if it is ics problem why I can use mutlitask on my one X?

I keep asking the question "what does it mean?" and everyone keeps replying "it shouldn't be this way." If a doctor says "there’s something wrong with your liver," there's a big difference between hepatitis A and stage 3 cancer. Other than the perceived loss of something you had how does the way that the One X handles multitasking affect what you do every day? And how often is it a problem?
I had a i9100 and in practical use I don't notice a difference. The exception being the browser that stupidly reloads itself every time it restarts but it does that regardless of whether launched from recent apps or directly from the app drawer or a shortcut.
And if this is true it doesn't really matter what a Desire, HD2, or SGS did.

To anyone that knows of a ROM that is 100% functional INCLUDING S PEN!
The ROM I have now doesn't have a working radio so I can't even use my data plan to download anything (sometimes doesn't even wake back up when it goes to sleep). The home internet is constantly blinking in and out, making downloading large files tedious; so if you are positive you know a ROM that has everything functioning (as if it just shipped from the factory!) and de-bloated then please please, do tell!
I'd like this to be a one-shot download kind of thing rather than having to download a mess of things, once I get something that works again then I don't care how many ROMs you suggest.
PS: Are the Note II ROMs naturally huge??? I have seen some as high as 1GB

Have you tried reading through the development section for comments as to what works and what doesn't for each ROM? There are loads that work. And yes, many are quite large.
Android Revolution by Mike1986 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1925402) works flawlessly and is as you described. Near stock but completely debloated and optimized for better battery life and faster. Version 10.0 was just released yesterday with some updates.
If i ever need to use a Samsung ROM, i always use Android Revolution as i know it simply works.
Samsung ROMs are normally around 800 MB to 1 GB, completely normal.

~While stock is wicked fast and no doubt stable, too many apps run in the background. I did a memorydump once and at any given time (after its sat idle for about 2min) there are usually 40-50 or more apps running in the background.
~Want to be able to continue using Google Wallet (started using it on my Nexus 7 and instantly fell in love). This Isis crap that the carriers are forcing us to use seems like the works of a halfwitt jacked up on drugs and their rollout methods are awful.
~Apparently the stock ROM with all the bloat/branding sucks up the onboard memory like it's going out of style. I don't even use most (if any) the carrier junk but I can't delete them. Thats where de-bloated and slimmed-down-to-essentials ROMs come in for me
~Ability to fully customize how I want MY phone to look and react rather than be just another carbon copy with the rest of the crowd. You wouldn't believe how many people, that have gotten a good look at my old SII w/ SBean AOKP, oooh & ahh over some visual features I could do that they couldn't, especially with battery readouts rather than guessing what percentage you're at with that vague battery bar.
That's just scratching the surface but come-ooooon! This is XDA, what are the majority of us here for anyway?
The Revolutions ROM mentioned above sounds promising and the fellow said all the stock things worked, including the phone's signature ability, the Wacom digitizer and S Pen. Without that working, thats like selling me a factory fresh Porsche but minus all the bits that make it go

I hear you. I was into custom ROM's for many devices, but I found the problems with incompatibilities to be too much of a hassle to use on "daily driver" devices - especially my phone, which I use for business.
Now, I use Titanium to freeze bloatware and system apps that I don't want running. I use the Xposed framework mod to get unlimited multiwindow apps on my Note2 as well as add other features like per-app settings (dpi, full screen, resolution, etc.). I use a Nova Launcher instead of touchwiz, and several other tweaks on my stock firmware.
I found this to be the best option for ME, because the stability on my phone is perfect, battery life is great and I know that all apps will work properly.
Good luck on your quest to find the best rom - you'll likely have to try a bunch before settling down

They're not, the T-Mobile Note II has a dedicated forum at http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1877
GSM Arena says : The device will have a model number SGH-T889 and will reportedly pack the same specs as the international Galaxy Note II (except for the LTE connectivity, of course). Feel free to check out our preview of the Note II for more details on the device.
The most common problem after crossflashing is losing signal. You have to flash a compatible ROM now, maybe even restore your efs partition.

Root is required of you want to get the most out of your device. If you want to "freeze" apps on an unrooted device, go to your application manager in your device settings, click on the system app you want to "freeze" and select disable. If you don't see the disable button, then click Uninstall updates first. Use this with caution as freezing or disabling important apps may cause problems.
Xposed requires root, but it doesn't mess up your system like some hardwire mods which replace system files can do.

Hi to all,
I've noticed a performance decrease in my GT-P5210 and I'd like to understand whether it is something that happens only to me or other owners too have noticed it.
The tablet lags especially when opening apps like YouTube and Chrome and it takes a lot of time before the keyboard appears for writing something in the google search bar. It happens with the ROM LineageOS 14.1 but also with the stock ROM 4.2.2 of Restl3ss.
As last attempt, I've installed the stock ROM with Odin, then got root permission and then debloated further I've stopped any apps' update but it still lags.
Is it possible that the tablet is damaged? What do you suggest to do?
Thanks for your attention and best regards,
Giuseppe
I think every user od Tab 3 face this problem. Its caused by apps like FB or YT that require more and more RAM and processor power. Thats absolutley normal :/

I'm facing the exact same problem with my wife's Tab3. Opening YouTube takes almost hours and even updating Google calendar entries gives me enough time to have a coffee before it's finished.
I thought of flashing another Rom, other than that stock one.
Would you suggest uninstalling Facebook and disabling YouTube and Gmail for example, before I try a custom Rom? Or would the effect too small to even notice something. What's your opinion, if I might ask?

Has anyone else seen noticeable Lag after updating to Android 10 in the galaxy s10 or Note10+.
Using the samsung launcher, there is lag when scrolling through the app drawer and multitasking.
I have tried,*
cleaning my dalvik cache
Removing my SD card
Updating all apps for android 10
And performing the built in device care optimization*
I think a performance update is needed to take care of this.
The multitasking lag becomes worse during the day until phone is restarted.*
Update 31012020: I finally decided to factory reset my phone. This did not work. I use nova launcher and uninstalled it as well. Lag still remains.
I have found that the lag only appears after about 20+ apps are in the recent apps menu. However this issue did not happen in Android 9. What is also interesting my moms s10 exhibits the same behaviour.
Further I have gone into developer options and when I set Animator level from 1x to 0x, the lag is gone. This is the only solution. However the downside to this is that instead of animations of loading wheels or progress bars, there is just a static circular arrow. I hope Samsunf fixes this issue.
Have had zero lag since updating to android 10. Never had any lag on pie either. Maybe its just an issue with your phone
I had alot of lag, everything lagged actually. The latest TMobile update fixed it for me.
I have had lag. Just opening simple apps like what's app and trying to start typing.
I have the very same issue on my Exynos Note 10. After the Android 10 update, app launcher and app switcher lag like it's 2006.
Lag in Note 10 +
Hi, just updated to 10 and it's really poor. Lag everywhere. Mostly between apps pages. But mostly everywhere. I'm in NZ with Spark Network. Personally feel this has to be fixed with an update.

Had exactly the same issue on my note 10+ (exynos).. after complaining about the issue I saw a post that mentioned that some apps with the permission to display on top was the culprit. In my case, after disabling this permission of dashlane it fixed the problem. Are you using dashlane?

Hey,
I am using lastpass, which does require the appear on top permission.
Solution:
update 04022020. I finally got rid of the lag. I installed the Samsung Goodlock app from the Galaxy app store and installed the task changer plugin. I then set my task manager to be displayed as a grid. but you can change it to any style.
the Goodlock app and plugin are designed by Samsung. this leads me to believe there is something wrong with the stock animation in the app switcher.
Good fix for task switcher, but it doesn't solve the app pages speed issue. Samsung need to release a fix

Solved it ! for me, it's definitely 3rd party apps that run in the background. Check your permissions and what has accesses to your phone. For me a block site app that has accessablility access was the culprit.
Spamsung, up to his old tricks, got a nope10 rooted up and have been good, except for all the other spammy DOWNGRADES( samFAIL needs somthing to fkeep you coming back for a new fix) what a twisted guy!
As the sob story goes, if anyone cares to hear the drama from spammy's momma lol
Been on Android 9 and staying, unless spammy forces his spam on me?
So can't search for this problem with Android 9 because everything shows up as note 10 upgrade Android 10, of course when trying to -Android10 it also takes away anything for nope10 results ? so for the past couple hours feels like I am back using my old HTC 4g( that's what I all an upgrade!!) I didn't do anything new just reset the phone because battery ran out, so much lag now ?
Treid changing animation from 1x to none
did not work
Update :
So this happened for a couple days and without any making changes, now today without making any changes everything is back to normal. So my guess is that because of the virus spammy let's the powers that be get inside your phone and spied on creating all this lag, it actually took me initially 7 minutes to type the first part of this message because the lag was so bad.
This is spamsung at his best!
#spamsung for the inside scoop?
I used to have this issue on a nope 8, and I noticed whenever it happened when I had more than say 30+forefox pages open, but now it's happening in the note 10+ saying that ram is using 7.5gb lol
And when in i used a task manager it would show - 1million kb boost to stop apps running and forefox had all that negitve - 1million + kb's on it but now it's showing Firefox with only 189mb but the boost is still at 1m+ lol
I don't know what anybody's talking about with lag this thing's a beast! Try beast mode kernel too little bit of battery loss but **** it who cares it's so damn snappy I can't see straight when I'm playing with my phone
Odd, odd, I have never, ever experienced anything of the sort in any of my samsung devices, since the S3, I currently own a note 10+ running android 10, it behaves exactly as day one, so, the cause must be something not related to official firmwares issued by samsung
Which apps are lagging?
Could scope storage be the culprit?
I'm still on Pie and it remains very fast and rock solid stable phone.
There's a lot I don't like about 10 and 11.
Funny Google is preaching security with their OS "improvements" when Goggle is one of the worst data miners there is.
