Hey guys can someone help understand this error. I've taken a screen shot of it
It seems that this error is causing my Samsung members to be in French.
Another issue is software version showing XEF/XEF/VAU. Which is linked to the whole French language thing.
I've tried flashing using the original Vodafone firmware but doesn't seem to overwrite the current XEF revision
a bit more detail would help; you have what model with what firmware and trying to install what firmware?
Hi sorry for the lack of info
So originally I had purchased a note 10 plus sm-n975f model from Vodafone Australia. During the course of flashing using Odin it seems I may have flashed a BTU firmware which has made the default language French. I have since tried to flash original Vodafone Au firmware using home CSC and CSC however this error pops up. It seems it won't over write the CSC

If worst comes to worst...or just for ease, look into the app SamKey. Will allow you to change your csc without root.

It is part of the Vodafone firmware . You would have to flash unbranded firmware to remove the app . Is the phone network locked ?
If its doing no harm you can leave it there and just ignore it
The phone has no Simlock :
1 x Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ Plus 5G SM-N976B 256GB Aura Glow without Simlock New OVP
Will i get all regular Updates from Samsung (like Android 10) or do i get the updates from Vodafone ?
I´m confused.
Thanks
In Germany there are a couple of branded Firmwares out which are provider based.
You own a vodafone Note10+ which means you get OTA (Over the Air) Updates from a Samsung based by the provider overworked Firmware (normaly monthly).
You have the possibillity to remove the app via ADB or you can unbrand it with a open UK Firmware Countrycode BTU (no provider stuff on it).
Your current countrycode should be VD2 (Vodafone Germany).
If you are able to read german there is one big forum in Germany for android devices, take a look at android-hilfe.
if there is no simlock on the device, its also not against a law to 'rebrand' it with an other firmware.
Before starting this take a closer look here or in other forums to inform you about flashing an Samsung Firmware with a tool called odin (for Windows).
you can download the newest firmwares on sites like sammobile.com.
But don't do it hastily until you've read your way into the matter!
This is my Firmware. Could I flash DBT or DTM without problems ?
The unbranded Firmware for Germany is DTM ?
1. Don,'t know if this will work without any problems, if you can read and understand German take a look on the Android Hilfe forum there is a thread discribing unbranding.
https://www.android-hilfe.de/forum/...anding-auch-beim-note-10-moeglich.929549.html
2. Open Germany is DBT (which stands for debitel, now mobilcom debitel).
DTM is Deutsche Telekom which is also branded
On the other side, all this to only get rid of one app...
Have you tried to deactivate the app under settings - apps - three-point-menu (upper right corner) - show system apps.
Then Navigate to the app and tap on deactivate in app settings
since a couple of years branding (in Germany) is shrinked to one or two provider apps.
Also OTA Updates are nearly as fast as for the Open Germany DBT.
My last action in rebranding was on an Galaxy S7 so I can not say if debranding the Note10+ from VD2 to DBT works with out problems and afterwards fully access to OTA Updates.

Hello,
thanks for all this information.
I did get a Update for the phone already. It was the Securitypatch 1. November 2019.
I have a Deutsche Telekom Sim in the phone. It works without problems .
So i will get Android 10 sometime OTA with my Telekom Sim too ?
It´s not possible to stop and deactivate this App.
Thanks again for your help.
Sure you will get Android 10 also with this card, as soon it was released here in Germany for VD2

Hello,
i looked at Androidhilfe.de and followed the instructions at the thread https://www.android-hilfe.de/forum/...anding-auch-beim-note-10-moeglich.929549.html.
I used SamFirm to find a BTU Firmware (2019-10-30). I flashed it with Odin (normal CSC )
and got a clean phone.
Now my note 10 + 5g is debranded. No more Vodafone App. I´m on XEF/XEF/VOD now.
Today there was again a newer Verson of BTU Firmware (2019-11-13)
I flashed that with Odin3 3.13.3 using homeCSC .
My phone got updatet with no dataloss.
So my problem is solved
Thanks again for helping.:good:
Had a similar problem with my DTM (Telekom) branded Note10+.
Just flash the newest DBT FW with the home csc and you'll get the unbranded version without vodafone apps.
Also you'll get updates much faster.

Is there a DBT Firmware for the Note 10+ 5G
I didn´t find one yet.
I had to search a bit, but couldn't find an unbranded version for the german market.
Also it could be difficult to get 5G with a different country firmware because it's new, regulations and stuff.
But you could flash at leats the DTM firmware, so you'll get telekom preinstalled apps

Hey everyone,
I realize that posts regarding CSC are a dime a dozen, I've searched through a lot but this stuff is somehow really tough to piece together. I rarely post because I normally find everything I need but here goes.
I bought my note 10+ in Slovakia from Orange. The phone's CSC is ORS/ORS,ORS/ORS, which I think is part of the OGC multi CSC. I'm guessing ORS stands for Orange Slovakia. However, I'm using a Telekom SIM card. I'm still waiting for my android 10 update, but I've noticed that Android 10 has already come out for the Telekom Note 10+. The CSC in that rom is TMS (which I think stands for Telekom Slovakia), which is a part of the ODX multi CSC . In the past I would just flash an update from another country, but from what I gather, this is somehow... riskier? nowadays.
So my question is, could I lose warranty if I were to flash that TMS rom? Or is there a possibility that it would mess something up? I figure that that's the rom that is as close to mine as possible ? but I'm not sure. Any advice would be much appreciated.
Hi, i have same Note10+ buyed from Orange Slovakia. I flashed Multi-CSC FW ROM (ORX) from samfirm, but CSC is set to default AUT. For change CSC you must buy 2 credits from samkey.
Hello Community,
I have always bought factory unlock international versions of Samsung galaxy S phones from Amazon and used it outside the US (in Central America). The last time I flashed a phone was in the Samsung S4 period where a few friends had carrier branded phones, which I helped them unbranded by flashing the TTT (Trinidad and Tobago) firmware, since the PDA and CSC was the same as mine. It never gave me any issues and therefore, I never really messed with CSC before. It was easy and simple!
I recently returned to Samsung ecosystem but this time I bought a S20+ (SM-G985F) carrier branded and locked phone (Claro Guatemala). It's clear that things have gotten way complicated now.
Version: G985FXXU3ATG4 / G985FOWA3ATG4 / G985FXXU3ATG4
CSC: PGU
Thanks to another post, I was instructed to able to flash a different firmware to unbrand it. I was also instructed to change CSC to GTO, so I would not loose VoWIFI and VoLTE. Apparently now just flashing the firmware does not change the CSC, there is another process for that. I performed the change but still lost the options (although my carrier still doesn't support it).
version: G985FXXU3ATG4 / G985FOXM3ATG9 / G985FXXU3ATG4
CSC: GTO
I've been trying to understand how CSC works but I've been reading several contradictions. Some say that if CSCs don't match you might not get OTAs. Other say that that doesn't matter. Why couldn't I just flash the TTT as I've done before? Why did I have to change my CSC to GTO? What if I change my CSC to TPA but use it in Guatemala, would I still get OTA updates? If my device is single sim, why does my CSC GTO/GTO,GTO/PGU as a dual sim?
Who can give me a definite explanation on how to choose a correct CSC firmware? HELP!
I'm going through the same nightmare...

Isn't the SM-G985F a Multi CSC device? Try this, go to "Settings" then "About phone". Write down your IMEI Number. Open dialer and enter *#272*IMEInumber# (In the thread replace IMEInumber with your actual IMEI Number). Press dial, you should see a screen with the list of available CSC codes for your device. Select the CSC that you want and tap the Install option.

I'm also new to the CSC concept, and have been looking into its function. I would recommend checking out these links for a good overview.

What follows are my findings and my attempt to 'put it all together'.
Samsung Firmware Naming Convention
See [10] and [11]
What is a CSC?
Samsung CSC refers to the Country Specific (Product) Code. This identifies the region and carrier for which the device is configured [1,3].
This includes [7]:
Carrier branding: A CSC may be country or carrier-specific. Samsung releases the same model of a smartphone to Tab with different CSCs. For instance, if you use an unlocked or unbranded Samsung Galaxy phone in the UK, its CSC would be BTU. However, if your device is locked to a network operator, it could be VOD (Vodafone), TMU (T-Mobile), ORA (Orange), XEU (EE & Three), etc.
System Languages: These include the availability of the popular languages used in a geographical area. For example, if you own a Samsung phone in Mexico and flash the firmware meant for India with INS as CSC, you won’t be able to set Spanish, Nahuatl, or Mixtec as your phone’s system language and keyboard.
Localizations: Samsung ships its devices with geo-specific or bloat apps relevant to a country or region. Localization also determines the calendar settings and local festivals.
APN Settings: Access Point Name settings include all configurations to make a mobile device work with the network carriers of a region or country. Without these configurations, you may not be able to enjoy seamless GSM, GPRS, 3G or 4G mobile networks.
Samsung FUS: CSC also contains key info to help Samsung’s Firmware Update Server to connect to the correct update channel and roll out the proper software update to your Galaxy device via OTA.
Deep dive:
Historically, Samsung had one CSC folder on the device [8], located at /system/csc. This folder contained different XML files used to configure the device.
Code:
/system/csc
features.xml
language.xml
others.xml
customer.xml
The supported configuration options for these files have been extensively documented by other users [9].
Presently, there are two flavors of CSC files CSC and HOME_CSC. Flashing CSC performs a factory reset of the device; wiping all third-party apps, data and settings [7]. HOME_CSC is used to reinstall the firmware or updating the system, retaining apps, data, and settings.
Examining the current contents of a HOME_CSC file shows the structure has changed.
Code:
HOME_CSC_OMC_OXM_G985FOXM3ATG9_CL18862671_QB33041563_REV01_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT/
meta-data
cache.img.lz4
optics.img.lz4
prism.img.lz4
The three image files correspond to directories found on the device root (using adb).
Code:
/cache/
backup
backup_stage
lost+found
lsb
magisk
magisk.log
magisk.log.bak
recovery
/optics/
configs
/prism/
HWRDB
app
etc
lost+found
media
priv-app
sipdb
Buried within the optics folder, we find XML files similar to the original design.
Code:
/optics/configs/carriers/single/TPA/conf
cscfeature.xml
cscfeature_network.xml
customer.xml
omc.info
How do I find and interpret my CSC?
You check your CSC by going to Settings > About Phone > Software Information > Service Provider SW Version. According to [1] you should see the following, depending on your phone's SIM capacity.
CSC Format:
AAA/BBB/CCC (Single SIM Models)
AAA/BBB,BBB/CCC (Dual SIM Models)
Click to collapse
Where, according to [5]
AAA is the current CSC
BBB is the recommed CSC for your SIM (if this CSC is inside your current Multi-CSC)
CCC is the factory CSC of your phone and can´t be changed
Click to collapse
Some phone info applications call these the original (CCC), firmware (AAA), and active (BBB) CSCs. For example, my SM-G985F shows
Code:
SAOMC_SM-G980F_OXM_TPA_QQ_0006
...
TPA/TPA,TPA/TPA
Which tells me that the phone was manufactured for Panama, has the Panama firmware and the recommended SIM CSCs are both for Panama. I know this because the list of CSC country codes is well documented [12].
NOTE: I came across multiple sources online that say the SIM CSC will change depending on the SIM card you have inserted. For example, [1] states
When you switch to a SIM card from a different country, your device will attempt to modify the SIM CSC. If the operation is successful, you’ll receive a popup asking to align the new information with the active CSC. This will effectively modify the configuration region, but the process requires a factory reset.
Click to collapse
But this may not be true. I am in the USA using a local provider and was never prompted as described.
What does each CSC do?
So we have the three different CSCs, each of which could be responsible for configuring different parts of the phone.
Firmware
SIM
Original (factory)
I would think that the original CSC is only there to identify the original factory firmware, and is not configuring anything on the phone. The firmware CSC should tell me the current firmware loaded and the SIM CSC does ???
I will continue to look into this over the next few days. If anyone can contribute more information it would be very helpful.
Hi Everyone,
I'm from Australia and recently bought a SM-G781B off eBay...
Turns out it was a UAE variant and Samsung Pay is all messed up.
I've flashed the phone a few times now using ODIN, trying to get the right CSC correct for Australia (G781BXXU2CUB5) for either of the following CSC's;
XSA (Generic Australia), OPS (Optus), VAU (Vodafone), or TEL (Telstra).
The issue I have is all the Stock Firmware's I've download and flashed keeps registering my CSC as XME (Malaysia)...
Phone INFO app doesn't even detect any other CSC's in the package
I've tried downloading the correct Firmware packs from the following and none gives me the correct CSC for Australia;
https://samfrew.com/
https://www.sammobile.com/
https://samfw.com/
App: Frija Firmware
Does anyone know why this is happening, or can upload/direct me to correct firmware either XSA, OPS (Optus), VAU (Vodafone), or TEL (Telstra)?
I'm totally at a loss now...
Any help would be much appreciated, thanks heaps in advance.
from what I've read recently Samsung has stopped people being able to switch as of android 11.
maybe... I stress MAYBE according to your countryman Hugh Jefferys, if there's a lower version of firmware on the same binary number you might be able to downgrade and then that might mean you can switch CSC.
this is someone who's never even tried changing CSC telling you this so your own research is obviously the only thing to put some faith in.
good luck
XSG (UAE) firmware is part of the OJM multi CSC, whereas XSA/OPS/TEL are part of the OLM multi CSC. This means that it is not possible to simply flash XSA in Odin as the multi CSCs are different, you would first have to use the combination ROM to change from OJM to OLM and then you would be able to flash any OLM CSC firmware, whether that be Australia, Singapore, Malaysia, or Thailand. I'm an Aussie myself, I got my phone from JB Hi Fi but switched it to Thailand CSC since XSA updates are horrendously slow (Samsung Pay does still work on Thailand CSC as does VoLTE/VoWiFi). For your case though, I'm afraid you are out of luck in terms of changing the multi CSC with the combination ROM, if you are on One UI 3.1 then the bootloader version is U2 whereas the combination ROM bootloader version is U1, so you would not be able to flash it anyway. Also, I tried to flash the combination ROM while my bootloader was still on U1 because I wanted to change from OLM to OXM (Romania CSC) for fastest updates, but Odin was not allowing the flash first because of "please get the approval to flash factory images (pit)" which I fixed, then "please get the approval to flash factory images (abl)" at which point I gave up. So as I said before, sorry but I don't think there's a lot you can do Unless a U2 bootloader version combination ROM is leaked which may or may not happen and you can get around the Odin not allowing you to flash it issues, the phone will unfortunately be stuck on UAE firmware (unless there are other countries part of OJM which you could switch to for faster updates).
Hopefully this helps you.
I have the same model! I changed my CSC but for some reason chat features in messaging app doesn't work now..other than that, all's good..

Your software version is was originally XSA, so you wouldn’t have any issues flashing it with XSA and defaulting to XSA instead of another region. The CSC will automatically default back to XSA.
Mine unfortunately defaults to Malaysia XME when flashed with XSA firmware.

From what I’ve tested, I have no issues with flashing from XSG OJM Multi to XSA OLM Multi. You can do this provided the FIrmware security number is the same as your current revision. You can’t however flash to a lower security value. See image attached.
The current firmware security value at the moment is “2” running One UI 3.1, Android 11. We can’t downgrade to any security firmware version “1” types with Android 10. If we could, then you can use multiple methods to manually change the CSC .i.e through Google Dialer or IMEI trick.
All the Firmwares at the moment are still Muti regional, unfortunately there doesn’t seem to be a way to change the CSC manually even though they are Multi regional.
All XSA firmwares I’ve downloaded and flashed will keep defaulting to XME as that’s the default unless my original CSC was XSA to begin with for it to detect.
I think the only option at the moment is to use SAMKEY, unless someone comes with with a new Android 11 method...
The other option is to root the phone and ADB to change the CSC, however this would trigger and break KNOX securities.
I did check Samkeys update log and they state it’s supported now, this method wouldn’t trigger KNOX;
VERSION 3.63.9 (PLANET EARTH'S FIRST)
- Added support for G780F (Galaxy S20 FE) ALL BIT
- Added support for G781B (Galaxy S20 FE 5G) ALL BIT
- Fixed FAIL(16) on Slow PC's
- Fixed FAIL(20) on G780F
They’re actually up to VERSION 3.71.9 now.
Might be worth a try.

I can confirm SamKEY works on One UI 3.1, unfortunately it is paid but it does work. You can get an account for cheap from eBay with 1 credit on it which is all you need to do the CSC change. Using it I was able to change from XSA to THL (with no data wipe at all which really surprised me).

Trust me you wouldn't want XSA firmware anyway, the updates are terribly slow for it for the S20 FE 5G (not sure about 4G), it tends to get security patches a month after they should've came out, for example it got the March security patch in April which is pretty awful imo. I think it's the slowest CSC in general for the G781B, if you're on OLM multi CSC you're much better off switching to THL where the updates are a lot faster.

That's interesting, I didn't think it was possible to change between multi CSCs like this without the combination ROM (how you were able to switch from OJM to OLM). If you try to switch to an OXM multi CSC such as DBT or ROM from OLM multi CSC, what happens? Does it work? I'll be honest I never tried it myself but didn't have the motivation to try it anyway as I heard it wouldn't work.

Hi There,
Yes, im sure it works provided the security firmware version is the same as I mentioned above.
I also changed to BTU to test.
I can't test for you any longer as I've returned the device for a refund. Will go buy an AUS XSA Variant.
Attached are the images of my original and changed firmware for your reference.

That's very interesting, when you get the XSA variant can you try and see if you are able to flash a CSC such as ROM or DBT on the phone successfully using Odin? I would love to know if it was possible for this to work or not, I'm on THL myself after changing from XSA and did not think it was possible to switch to a different multi CSC (from OLM to OXM).

I can confirm SamKEY works on One UI 3.1, unfortunately it is paid but it does work. You can get an account for cheap from eBay with 1 credit on it which is all you need to do the CSC change. Using it I was able to change from XSA to THL (with no data wipe at all which really surprised me).

Wish I tried it before returning the device. The Australian stock only has 6GB RAM and no dual-sim....

Yeah that's true no 8GB variant sold here as far as I know not even on the Samsung website and we don't even get eSIM support either
Is there an update/workaround on this issue?
are there any methods that work without samKey?
Noticed that the dialer app that was once able to record calls, is now recording only me talking, since the latest OTA updates on the stock firmware (updated to oneUI 3.1 and Android 11).
I'm also on XSG (OJM) firmware and want to change CSC to enable call recording on galaxy S20 FE 5G (model G781B).
Would love to know how can it be done.
*my software info is attached in the screenshot
thanks!

I'm sure by now you've already sorted this, but this is for future people with a need to change CSC
The SamFW FRP Tool can tell you which CSCs are available on your phone already, and can automatically have the CarrierPreConfig service trigger a CSC update. Only need to enable USB Debugging. No root, no reinstall.
But if your phone doesn't have the CSC you need already, download Frija, or another firmware download tool, you'll be able to download and install an OXM Multi CSC firmware (such as XSA, OPS, TEL or VAU), and install it via ODIN tool.
Be sure to select HOME_CSC to keep your data, and backup first.
