What can I say! bring it on!
That's brilliant news! Can't bloody wait!
Brilliant, lets hope his word is good for it !!
Thanks for the info.
Sent them the email cos I couldn't watch Vixen Videos on The Daily Star
I still wouldn't be too suprised if it doesn't come out at that time.
By now it's getting kind of a fail on Google's side that they teased us with Froyo mid may and still haven't officially released it even on the N1. I'm afraid Apple's iOS 4 will beat Froyo to the market. After iOS4 mass market will not care much for Android at least for another half year.
We have to keep our hopes high though, so hopefully in 2 weeks we'll be running Froyo.
IF, and I say if, that's true then fair play HTC!!

I agree. I think if you don't release the update within a few weeks of announcing it publicly, it reflects very badly on your planning/preparation. And as much as I hate Apple, I think they are pretty good at these things, while Google clearly has a long way to go. If they do screw up with Froyo, Android's dreams of catching up with iPhone in terms of market share would remain dreams for a long long time.
Ah, so it begins. The rumour of the 23rd of June is now being pushed back by another two weeks before we even get to the 23rd.
Can we stop this? In just under two weeks someone will receive another email pushing it back another few weeks, and again, and again and so on.
Until HTC say "It'll be out on this date" this emailing customer service nonsense should just stop.

It says 'within the next two weeks'. ;-)
Chill dude.
Last time i checked the 23rd was in the next 2 weeks. OTA updates are rarely on the same date for everyone for a number of reasons, so an exact date may not be possible.
Well, see you all in three weeks for the customary self induced *****fest. People need to stop attention seeking.

I emailed customer service because I wanted to know if they had a fix for embedded flash not working, not to find out if there was an update coming, just thought I'd share the reply.
within the next 2 weeks includes the 23rd as far as my calender goes btw and they'd be stupid to update all desires on the same day - the network stress would be ridiculous!

Dear <me>, Thank you for contacting us. In regards to your query, I am afraid but that is not an official statment from HTC. Please find below the official statment about the update to 2.2 Froyo: "We are considering a Froyo(2.2) upgrade for some models of our phones, but we are still analyzing the impact this will have on the user experience. We will announce a full list of phones and dates once we are closer to launching the upgrades." I trust that this resolves your query, please do not hesitate to contact us again if required. Thank you for contacting HTC. Kind regards, <dude at htc>. HTC

Not over the air. How many desires have seen sold? Have a guess and multiply it by the 150MB or so of the update and see why not everyone will get it on the same day..
Personally im waiting for cooked Froyo Desire ROMs. Im sure the stock one will be nice, but i want FULL A2SD.
Some of you guys need to get a life! Continue with your life without *****ing around and when the update eventually comes, you'll see it. Those people at the helpdesk in HTC HQ are just people like you and me trying to do their job. They're told what to and (and more specific) what NOT to say.
So hold your horses, quit *****ing and bothering them, they're no gods, they're just lads trying to earn their beer.
Once the update is READY, you'll all see it flashing on your screen.
Thank you.

is there no way to just host it online and have it downloaded over regular internet?
i'm imagining it being like flashing the firmware of a dvdwriter or something.
would make it faster by a long shot and not impact the 3g network
This reply does kind of fit in the other leaks about froyo on the Desire. Namely end of June.
Off course until we actually have it on our phones it remains a question whether or not they can deliver in a timely fashion (unlike other htc android handhelds)
But the regular slips of htc support seem promising

nooooooooooooooooooooo.......
i was really waiting for this D:
As long as it's in first quarter I'm happy...
Sad news indeed. But at least it's still coming and as long as there are no major hiccups I'd rather wait for a quality update.
But I have a feeling this last minute change could severely screw up Microsoft's plans for MWC. I was expecting MS to tout how the first update was being pushed out to WP7 owners across the world at that moment and then would proceed to tease the next OS update. Now if they show off the second OS update without even releasing the first OS update, they'll look like a laughing stock and be criticized for being too slow.
This is not good news at all. But at least MWC is almost guaranteeing new hardware so it's not a complete loss.
LOL
Are these the same multiple sources everywhere on the web who were reporting Feb. 7. Tomorrow this will be all over the web & stated as fact just because someone heard it from someone else, who heard it from the janitor who works at a major carrier .
If you keep guessing long enough you are bound to be right, or close to it eventually so who knows it could happen.
Whenever it happens really doesn't matter anymore because MS has failed IMO. There is very little talk about WP7, except the Nokia stuff & how long it's taking MS to get this update out. The Nokia stuff is a big deal only if you believe Nokia can shift a big part of their market share to WP7, & I doubt they can.

Welp, all your credibility flew out the window there.
i sure will postpone n postpone... microsoft style....
How can it not be considered a fail when you start off with positive press & excitement & a few months later it's replaced by data leak questions & when will the first update be released. On top of that as a Samsung Focus owner I can't use a Micro SD card reliably.
All MS had to do is put out a date like March at the beginning & they could have avoided all of it. Even if they said March & ended up delivering it early they would look good, if they delivered in March they would be seen as delivering the update on time.
Easy. You say an ambiguous date like "Early 2011" so it doesn't matter when you release it but early 2011. Things could happen. They haven't announced it, so when they announce it, then you can "*****" at them for being late, until then, Microsoft said all the correct things. No matter what you think about that.

Im guessing with their crystal balls and a touch of hindsight they could have given date, but in the real world things like that dont happen, to my knowledge there has not been an official press statement saying Feb 7th, so tell me, how have thhey missed a target that doesnt exist?
could that date have been an internal milestone date? who knows huh!
MS hasnt failed, but if it does its because of comments like this, missinformation, bad bias reporting and bigotry by people that didnt understand what it is or in some cases havent even used it for a length of time
I never said MS gave any date I just used the Feb. 7 date as a example of one post or site saying something, & it spreading all over the net. Then in the end it turns out to be false, & now it starts again with this March date which may or may not happen.
Still wish it coming out before that...
Is anyone really that excited about Copy and Paste? The only thing worth the update is the faster load times... and that's a pretty minor thing. Granted, copy and paste would be nice, but are people actually upset about this because they don't have copy and paste? Just seems like a lot of hoopla for nothing.
Thats really dissapointing! Will wait for the NoDo update and Mango for sure..
Microsoft said that THEY WILL keep our devices up to date utleast 5 times per year..

Still, saying something as daft as WP7 is a failure is..well, daft.
So you don't mind what the update does as long as you get five of them each year? Better to have it tested properly first, though it is kind of frustrating for them to - hmm - "let us assume" a schedule (with several pointers) and then not stick to it.
thats when HOMEFRONT comes out now my march 8 will be completely awesome

This thread is about the first update to WP7 coming out in March I never said WP7 is a failure, it's too early to know that. MS failed in its handling of the update IMO so now it won't matter when it's released, it will be seen as a failure. There will be other updates & if MS can add features/fixes in a faster manner then they can recover. You just assumed I meant MS failed with WP7 when I meant they failed with this update.
I've been sitting on the sidelines not being vocal, but I think there's something we need to consider...
When we got our wp7 phones we need what features were lacking. If you didn't you should have done some research before you bought the phone. Wp7 is still in its infancy and expect there to be bugs and problems. If you wanted something more concrete should have stick with your iphone or Android. For what we do have everything seems to run pretty smooth.
Im not going to lie, but I curious about the nodo update. But im glad I haven't received it. Because then our phones will be locked and the homebrew segment and actual limited customization will be gone. Until someone of course finds a work around. And someone always does. And honestly, on your old phones how many of you even knew it had a copy.paste feature? Instead of focusing on nodo update which doesn't really do much, except speed up our phones, why no concentrate more on mango! Mango is the update that we all should want! Just my two cents. Btw i use a HTC hd7 on tmobile USA and its done everything i wanted without any problems!
I think people are focusing on Nodo because it's the 1st update and it will give us an idea about how Microsoft will handle the platform.
If they can't even handle a small update with almost nothing in it, this is worrying for the future. If they need 5 months to release such a small update, when will we get Mango? it's nice to make big promises about Mango but I'm starting to believe Thurrott when he says 2012 when you consider Microsoft's pace. I couldn't care less about Nodo, I don't use C&P that much and it doesn't fix the bugs people really care about like Live Tiles and push notifications not working. It only fixes one bug and that's the marketplace one.
And how long until we stop saying "they've just started, give them time"? After 6 months they should be about to deliver their 2nd update and be talking about the next one. Even if it's in 3 months, at least talk about it! They act like they don't give a sh*t and I'm sure soon people will start trading their phones and go back to Android/iOS.
That's true too. But considering this is their first update we can't assume things will be perfect. Now if the next major update rolls out and there's still issues with updating I for would question Microsoft. But I see your point of view. Perhaps Microsoft was releasing this small update to see how their update system would work? Dunno, but don't give up on Microsoft just yet. Trust me, I miss my android G2, but my wp7 phone hasn't let me done yet. And I was just thinking, do we really need multitasking? That could open up a whole new can of worms.
A can of good worms. Especially in the Modding scene.

Same here. I'm really starting to get worried that it'll be like everyone feared.
Oh well, I really thought they would up their game with this.
Still a great phone, just now I know it won't be supported.
I'm still not quite sure what carriers have to do with updating the phone. The update comes through Zune. C&P can't screw up a network, neither can the marketplace not crashing all the time.
In other words, this update fiasco is purely MS's fault.
Be it that they didn't make a better deal with carriers, they underestimated logistics, they haven't been forthright with customers, it is the fault of MS.
On the other hand. If you bought the phone because some said someone at MS said an update was coming out soon that would add C&P, I can see how you'd be pissed off, but you'd still be silly for buying a phone based on a rumor as opposed to its merits, which are plentiful.
My problem with this whole thing is:
1/. If MS was gonna stay mum and not update us on the delays, they should've STFU all the way until they announced a concrete date for the update.
2/. If MS was gonna talk about updates, they should've kept us posted all the way instead of tidbits here and there.
The way their going about it making it so some can't even recommend WP7 because of this update fiasco. I mean, since when couldn't MS send out bug fixes? I get one almost every week for my PC and that OS is way more complicated than a phone OS.
That's so true. They shouldn't make promises they can't keep. And if they say something and it dont go right atleast keep us in the loop. I also agree its hard to reccomend a phone where the support from Microsoft seems to be very spotty. So my question is, is it still too early to tell the future of wp7? I guess now I can understand why some people are asking about trying to dual boot on our phones. So is it the carriers fault, Microsoft fault, or the OEMs hardware fault we're not getting updates? And since we have to update through Zune, what do the carriers have anything to do with the updates?
I think what is forgotten here is that XDA is a geek forum. Most people do not have a clue about copy and paste. They want to hear music surf the web and take pictures. We easily forget that we are not normal consumers.

Normal customers want their push notifications to work properly, that should have been fixed within a month and Microsoft haven't even talked about it.

Hear, hear! Allowing a maximum of 15 apps with notifications was a huge oversight on their part, and afaik there are still no plans to fix this.
As for the marketplace bugs, from what I can tell not even all of those are fixed in the No[Can]Do upgrade. Probably because this particular update has been sitting on the MS servers since January waiting for an actual release.

The messed up part is that this is an advantage.
While they were ironing out whatever back-alley deals they had to iron out with the carriers, they could've been taking notes on what actual people in the know on forums like these had to ***** about.
They could've then slipped a few of the fixes, swapped a few 1s with 0s in the code, tweaked it around just a bit to make the OS even better.
Instead, we're going to get the update verbatim, the geek world is going to laugh and MS is gonna wonder where it all went wrong for the umpteenth time.
Probably just a reiteration of what others have said, but nonetheless my opinion. Microsoft first said that the NoDo update would be coming early next year so most people assumed January, than they said late February (I think they did), then it was early March, and now its late March. This update merely adds copy + paste (along with a few bugfixes, one of which ISN'T for the camera) and that is a very basic feature! Apple just released iOS 4.3 (which updated the Safari javascript engine and some other stuff) AHEAD of schedule by 2 days and Microsoft keeps pushing back a minor update by weeks.
I'm pissed because I want WP7 to succeed. I used the device and I loved the device, but it's not nearly as good as its competitors as a whole. If Microsoft doesn't figure out what their doing WP7 will fail.
The general rule is you NEVER buy a phone based on what is "coming". You always buy based on what is in the phone when you bought it. I went through the same crap with blackberry, promising an os update to the storm 2 series. When OS6 came out they were like nope, not supporting that handset. Go buy a the touch.
I'm very satisfied with the Samsung Focus I have now, any future updates is just icing on the cake. You'll be sorely disappointed if you buy things based on promises
Sorry I will have to reiterate my post 'normal consumers' want to play music, surf the web play youtube and games most will not use copy and paste that is just a fact. I work in a theater with a varied range of people most do not even know they have copy and paste capabilities.

sry i thought i had been two month.
i'm not urging them to do anything, i am just asking if there was any news on the next update.
but i know that nowadays it is the common response to say that we should leave them work as fast (or as slow) as they want, but that doesn't mean that i cannot ask.
if they didn't want me to urge them, then they shouldn't have made an eta ...
i'm not just saying that because your response was uncalled for, i am just saying that this new trend of "the devs are humans too" or "it will be done when it will be done" is stupid. why should the devs from a company who's job is to make software should get as much time as they need? i am working too an when i get a deadline, i have to respect it.
btw i'm not talking about the devs who are developing as a hobby here in the forums. i'm talking about the companies where developers are employees ....

of course they do, if you don't believe that updates and keeping your promises are important for the name of the company you are mistaken : i bought the oneplus 1 and 3 and made all my friends and family switch to oneplus too. if tomorrow we all stop buying because of there service and people around the world feel the same way, then the company will go down.
now just to reiterate, at the beginning, i just wanted to know if there was a eta or news on the update. if you had just responded "no there is none" the subject would have been closed. but you had to bring your opinion and start an argument just so you could say your bit. now i'll wait for the update

People should understand, it's not owing, it's their job to work. They're not working for me, they're working for the payment they get, it's their job. And if an eta was given, then they should obey it. It's been said that they'll pause beta program for one month, so probably they'll release one/two weeks after this "one month". It's my opinion, but of course I wish they release it sooner.

Damn 'bro'. Check your privilege.
OnePlus has a fairly good track record of being shaky on their word. I do feel like the 3 and 3T are going to soon lose support because of the announcement of a new phone slated for release a month and a half from now. Which is disappointing but with how soon they churned the 3T out to make more money, I'm not surprised.
I don't consider it "getting an update" unless I'm on the latest Security Patch. That's the only update I really care about, fixing bugs and adding features is cool and all, but lets be current at least. Here I am on Open 11 with a December 1st security patch and March (three months later) is coming up in just a few days. Even the Mainline Build that has a more recent build than the Community Build is on the Dec 1st patch. It's frankly pathetic.

No company updates their phones as frequently as oneplus and still people are always whining and it still has the best dev support after nexus and pixels. And did they gaurantee you regular updates or security patches when theu sold you the phone? No they didnt so hang on and wait for a while before jumping the gun. And no company updates their older phones frequently when they have a flagship out in the market. Even google abandons nexus after a couple of years. So if regular security patches are your thing shell out that extra money for an expensive phone or flash a custom rom.

OnePlus don't update their phones faster then anyone... My S7 edge is on Feb patch and gets patches every month. Blackberry always push the security patch every month without fail, It's not about spending money on an "Expensive phone" To get security.. Should come as standard no matter the price too many people are defending OP on updates they only support 3 phones right now OPT which is pretty much abandonded.. OP3/T pretty much identical updates shouldn't be a problem especially when many bugs are been reported and ignored..

Come back and talk about prompt updates on your s7 once s8 is out. Many things should come standard but they don't, thats life. You dont get everything. And yes blackberry sells their phones with security as a highlight so its natural they're updating it regularly.

Since you put it like that what version of Android is One plus 2 using? What security patch?........ Security has been pushed by Google Since Stage fright discovery it's not an OEM Feature or selling point period.. BlackBerry is committed to releasing patches every month while OnePlus is not..

I do agree with the security patches but no oem cares about it atleast expect for its flagships and yes oneplus has been slow with the patches but whining about it constantly doesnt make any difference either. The only thing to push secutiry patches on time to every device is if maybe google took control of it all together and pushed them directly. But they arent bothered about it either.

Heya guys and gals.
Just wondering if anyone has any news from the folks at RAZER as to when we'll be seeing that Oreo Update. It was supposed to be out within Q1 2018 which suggests by the end of the month (March) but no release news as yet...???????
Just chatted with them on support, the rep still says first quarter. Then they said there's still 3 weeks left so it will be out "very soon"..
That thread title made me excited for a second
Especially after seeing the changelog for the Razer theme app saying 'support for android O"
I was contacted by Razer late last week based on some issues i was having regarding the Netflix app still crashing my phone at a very high % and they where talking about waiting for the next big update. They didnt give the impression we would be waiting long but then also didnt give a timescale.
Already talk that we would be getting Android O 8.1 as a version and some talk about Android P as my understanding is theres some fetaures in P that will make it easier for non Google branded phones to update easier. So hopefully the phone gets quicker system updates and my majour concern is that it gets quicker secuirty updates.
Also as mentioned above by Roxas the Offical Razer Theme App got a recent update to support Android O
Yes. I also have seen evidence that android 8.1 is the actual update not 8.0 so win win for us ?
I'd prefer P but can't be too fussy as it's still in development
P just had it's first beta release afaik. Correct me if I'm wrong. Won't come out until fall this year.
Yeah your right P is still way in beta I just want it on the phone when it does come out. I hope it doesn't stop at Oreo
