They announced it a month back and not two months back. Devs are also humans. Wait for some time and see for yourself.

sry i thought i had been two month.
i'm not urging them to do anything, i am just asking if there was any news on the next update.
but i know that nowadays it is the common response to say that we should leave them work as fast (or as slow) as they want, but that doesn't mean that i cannot ask.
if they didn't want me to urge them, then they shouldn't have made an eta ...
i'm not just saying that because your response was uncalled for, i am just saying that this new trend of "the devs are humans too" or "it will be done when it will be done" is stupid. why should the devs from a company who's job is to make software should get as much time as they need? i am working too an when i get a deadline, i have to respect it.
btw i'm not talking about the devs who are developing as a hobby here in the forums. i'm talking about the companies where developers are employees ....

of course they do, if you don't believe that updates and keeping your promises are important for the name of the company you are mistaken : i bought the oneplus 1 and 3 and made all my friends and family switch to oneplus too. if tomorrow we all stop buying because of there service and people around the world feel the same way, then the company will go down.
now just to reiterate, at the beginning, i just wanted to know if there was a eta or news on the update. if you had just responded "no there is none" the subject would have been closed. but you had to bring your opinion and start an argument just so you could say your bit. now i'll wait for the update

People should understand, it's not owing, it's their job to work. They're not working for me, they're working for the payment they get, it's their job. And if an eta was given, then they should obey it. It's been said that they'll pause beta program for one month, so probably they'll release one/two weeks after this "one month". It's my opinion, but of course I wish they release it sooner.

Damn 'bro'. Check your privilege.
OnePlus has a fairly good track record of being shaky on their word. I do feel like the 3 and 3T are going to soon lose support because of the announcement of a new phone slated for release a month and a half from now. Which is disappointing but with how soon they churned the 3T out to make more money, I'm not surprised.
I don't consider it "getting an update" unless I'm on the latest Security Patch. That's the only update I really care about, fixing bugs and adding features is cool and all, but lets be current at least. Here I am on Open 11 with a December 1st security patch and March (three months later) is coming up in just a few days. Even the Mainline Build that has a more recent build than the Community Build is on the Dec 1st patch. It's frankly pathetic.

Buy a pixel if you want to be on latest patch. No company updates their phones as frequently as oneplus and still people are always whining and it still has the best dev support after nexus and pixels. And did they gaurantee you regular updates or security patches when theu sold you the phone? No they didnt so hang on and wait for a while before jumping the gun. And no company updates their older phones frequently when they have a flagship out in the market. Even google abandons nexus after a couple of years. So if regular security patches are your thing shell out that extra money for an expensive phone or flash a custom rom.

OnePlus don't update their phones faster then anyone... My S7 edge is on Feb patch and gets patches every month. Blackberry always push the security patch every month without fail, It's not about spending money on an "Expensive phone" To get security.. Should come as standard no matter the price too many people are defending OP on updates they only support 3 phones right now OPT which is pretty much abandonded.. OP3/T pretty much identical updates shouldn't be a problem especially when many bugs are been reported and ignored..

I do agree with the security patches but no oem cares about it atleast expect for its flagships and yes oneplus has been slow with the patches but whining about it constantly doesnt make any difference either. The only thing to push secutiry patches on time to every device is if maybe google took control of it all together and pushed them directly. But they arent bothered about it either.

Android Froyo delayed till September
July 3rd, 2010
Froyo Android 2.2
As Android Froyo has hit some roadblocks, HTC Desire, HTC Legend and HTC Wildfire seem to be the first ones to get affected.
As per initial plans, the Froyo was to be launched on the Nexus One and then on the HTC Desire after a week. However, Froyo does not seem to hit the handsets anytime before September as Google and HTC continue to keep the issues under wraps.
It is not just the HTC handsets that will be affected by the delay because most other Android Smartphones are also awaiting the Froyo. The recently launched Samsung i900 Galaxy S and the Dell Mini 5 (Streak) are few such handsets which will have a significant impact.
HTC has been in the forefront of manufacturing stunning handsets on the Android platform and as we all know they made the Nexus One for Google too. HTC Desire is the basis for the Google Nexus One and hence the striking similarity between the two handsets is inevitable.
Google on the other hand will be under pressure to get the Android Froyo out thanks to the launch of the iPhone 4. Inspite of multiple issues in the iPhone 4, it is still a stiff competitor for the Android 2.1 Eclair.
Do you have a source for this?
Is still Q3 as mentioned before
i call BS given that the only site which google searching the first paragraph is some crappy little mobile phone site
Nothing on google indeed. Any decent source would be on there in a minute.

Dont care.
The way its worded is implying that 2.2 in general isn't ready - which we know it isnt' true
Sounds to me like the quoted source (that is a quote isn't it) is reading a bit much into the 3rd quarter announcement. Mind you, I'd be pleasantly surprised if we see the update before September, but to call it as being delayed is going a bit far.
Also wonder what the source's source twice removed is for the expectation that the Desire was expected to get Froyo only a week after the N1. I mean, talk about speculation. Not even an optimstic developer on the inside would say "nah, we could do it in a week and I'll stake my career, no the whole company's entire reputation on it".

This clearly states that the Nexus one has not received Froyo witch is not true(!)
Why bother spreading nonsense? That no good for anyone. As stated, its quarter three that is the official info from HTC.
My edit: To spread rumours without reviewing your sources is in itself NEGATIVE(!) Good that you edited your post, but to apply scepticism to sources is NATURAL and in itself neutral (read not negative).
Please review your post and apply source criticism before you post posts containing rumours. That will spare us plenty of irritation.

how come that he cant update and you guys talk that the update is released.

That's why these things are called rumours.
The 23 June release nonsense had plenty of 'sources' but they were just rumours as well.
The one thing I know for certain is that HTC won't release it until they feel like releasing it....
And why do some of you guys take this so seriously? It's about an OS on a phone - not life or death.

http://www.neowin.net/news/microsoft-to-officially-support-homebrew-developments-on-windows-phone-7
Microsoft will soon support homebrew developments on their Windows Phone 7 platform following two days of meetings with developers behind the ChevronWP7 unlocking tool.
Late last year following the release of Windows Phone 7, a team of developers uncovered a bug which allowed those with a device running the operating system to install applications on their device without using Microsoft's application store, dubbed the Marketplace.
It made headlines as technology enthusiasts fought over whether the release of the unlocking tool, ChevronWP7, was a good idea to enable freedom on the platform or if it was a bad idea, encouraging jailbreaking and piracy.
However the team behind the software were soon contacted by Microsoft's Brandon Watson, Director of Developer Experience for Windows Phone 7, who took a keen interest in the matter and encouraged the developers to cease offering the tool while discussions about ChevronWP7's future continued between Microsoft and the developers.

Definitely very promising indications. It will be the best of both worlds, a secure and sandboxed marketplace plus freedom to install apps normally without restriction.
If they also give us a file system, in addition to the updates planned for this year, we'll have a decent OS on our hands.

This is great news

Desperate times cause for desperate measures. Some interest is better than none, I guess.
I recommend Microsoft to implement an "Advanced" tab in the Zune software to dev-unlock phones for users, but it should come with agreements, warnings and such to prevent regular users from attempting...
Or, they could add a new tier of developer accounts for free, so users like XDA-devs would be able to unlock their phones.
The problem with the current dev accounts is that even if you sign up and pay, you still have to submit a US taxt form, etc. AND you do not get verified until you submit your first app, which is kind of ridiculous (at least that is how it works for DreakSpark accounts).
I really hope Microsoft follows up on whatever promise they gave ChevronWP7 devs...

Yeah despite this being old, this is a big indication we could see the update between tomorrow and next week. I'm sure Microsoft wants to get the update out before or during MWC so they have something worthwhile to present there.
Also, I'm expecting details of that second update at the MIX 11 developers conference this year. After all, MS introduced WP7 at MWC and then went into more detail when MIX came around.
Perhaps 7th Feb
Ive read that the update will be out on the 7th Feb.
I wouldn't count on Feb. 7 date, it may happen but don't get your hopes up. This rumour reminds me of the MS CES tablet stuff that never really happened. The original blog that reported Feb. 7 didn't provide any proof did they?

Can I ask a possibly dumb question? Why is everyone so pumped for an update?
It's just, I know it'll speed up apps loading, and add copy+paste, etc. But I mean, even without it, wp7 is such a smooth OS, I just don't know what the rush is in hoping for an "OMG UPDATEZZ!!!1!111". It's not like wp7 is broken right now, and only an update will make it useable. And honestly I've only needed to use copy/paste once, and even then it wasn't a big deal...
I suspect everyone will be quite disappointed by the update...

I suspect that none of the features/fixes in the update, by themselves or taken as a whole, will be a "big deal". For many of us, this is a test of Microsofts credibility and support for this OS. The real question is, are they going to become responsive to their user base and make serious attempts to keep current with their competition? Most of us are waiting to see how often they release updates and whether the contents of those updates are valuable to their user base. We won't know that for a few updates I am sure.

The real signal that the update is coming soon is when the Zune and Mac clients are updated to make backups. That's what I'm most looking forward to. Up until now there's no way to back up text messages, files, or app data and I have a lot of stuff on my phone I'd like to protect.
I use the Samsung Focus. I've never had any Market place issues with freeze ups, Ive certainly never had a random hard reset. I've only wished hard, around 4 times since 11/8/10 that I could copy and paste. I also haven't been able to view 90% of the embedded videos on the web sites Ive visited (Flash?). I want an update.. like 3 weeks ago like the big boys at MS said I would. I want to have enough faith in MS that come next upgrade I feel excited to update my hardware not my OS.

Nothing wrong with the country, but I've seen several references to how outsourcing to low-cost countries really doesn't lower the development cost...Here in Norway, it seems most of the outsourced projects gets scrapped because they never finish. Might be because it's hard to delegate to people almost on the other side of the world, might be differences in cultures etc etc.
I don't put too much trust in outsourcing at all...unless the management actually spend time with the team.
First CTIA announcement was delayed, then later an announcement without carriers or release dates. Two weeks later and till no US carrier release information. Seems odd considering the other recent "super phone" announcements came with carrier information, release dates, and pricing. Also the usual parties have not received production review units which I'd expect by now.
Even announcing puts the brakes on product purchases of competing models. Look how many people withheld purchases of smart phones the entire quarter prior to an expected iPhone release. Why announce and hold if reducing product competition was the goal?
The only thing I can think of is to steal some of Apple's iOS 5 thunder. Show that Google's Android 4.0 is moving forward too even if it's not really ready.
What do you think?

The only thing I can think of is to steal some of Apple's iOS 5 thunder. Show that Google's Android 4.0 is moving forward too even if it's not really ready.
What do you think?

Well, Verizon did say we're getting the Galaxy Nexus "later this year"... But that's about the only US release information to date.
US carriers just released the old galaxy S II. They want to actually sell some and not have everyone wait 45 days for the newer / better device.
I think its slightly unnerving that theres quite a bit of silence from Google when they've already announced a date for Europe.
I think its because they're trying to work with carriers this time. Whereas with the Nexus S they clearly didn't try that hard. Part of that is pretty much requiring that they get VZW (thats why they made the LTE version), and the other part is trying to push it to more carriers too.
We'll see. I'm not "worried" about it, just curious.
If by next week we still don't have the LTE version labels released by the FCC, then something is curious.

If that is the reason then why announce in the first place. By announcing they are in fact causing a lot of people to wait and not buy the Galaxy S2, myself included.

Normal people don't do this. Only nerds do. You're way off base if you think any normal person knows what a "Nexus" phone is, or cares enough to hold off buying a new phone when they're ready to make a purchase.

You're not alone mate. Here in Europe we have a date but what does it mean? Is it just for the 16 GB version? If yes when does the 32GB arrive? Not a single shop here has a confirmed date when it is in store so we're in the same situation. We can just wait and search the web for infos.

Indeed. I'm constantly looking for information about the 32 GB version as I really need the space and I find it frustrating that there is no information about it. I even asked Samsung Sweden about it and they have yet to reply. They did reply to my other questions I asked them earlier about the GN but not this.
It's pathetic. Google and Samsung screwed up a chance to take the spotlight from 4s.
Carriers ***** slapped both if them and they complied.
Nothing short of bad management to have ZERO information or street dates this far after announcement. The *few weeks* bull**** stopped being believable after gingerbread.
Agreed. I'm not going to reopen any old wounds, because they might be egocentric as another member or two posted, but this is not how you do it.
I just keep looking at that original Nexus One launch and hang my head. If those people involved could only see to now? Dear god they'd be ashamed, I would think.
The more frustrating thing is Google really is so big, the only other people that can bull them into releasing info are more corrupt and more interest centric than Google itself. The actual people that will use the device day in and out, I feel there is no one to speak for our interests.
It would be nice if we could twitter Rubin himself: A number of users, with a simple message: You should be ashamed of the GN launch. #Nexus Fail

I wouldn't be so harsh but I ordered my device and so I would like to know where it is and when I can receive it.
The only thing which probably was a bit fail is the fact that they showed it to early.

Don't forget it was meant to be announced a week or two before it actually was, so that would have been even earlier.
So far all we have had is either conflicting information, or none at all. Samsung confirmed yesterday that release in the UK would be on the 17th, and literally a matter of hours later retailers are saying this has now been pushed back to w/c 21st
They have lost quite a bit of momentum with the delays and confusion imo. My attitude has gone from "wow, I need this phone now" to "do I really need a new phone?".
I will probably still buy it though
I bet they're still wringing out bugs/issues.
The conspiracy theorist in me says there are patent issues to work out.
My guess is they will never disclose why the launch has been delayed. But I do agree, it's likely lawyers, not engineers involved in the delay.
I like to feel special. If less people have it, it makes me more special.
I had a Samsung Wave in the U-S-of-A. I felt special. Until I started hating it for being so special (Samsung store didn't work in the US).

you honestly think that the Galaxy Nexus would be able to take the spotlight from the iPhone 4S?

There's probably a lot of numbers talk going on between Google and the carriers in the USA atm.
Don't know, might be Samsung not Google. Maybe one reason they bought Motorola I bet the next Nexus will be Motorola's

The title explains everything..personally, i hoped to see something better than some apps updates and a game playable in chrome. Even if someone says that google is working on a great, big update, a minor update to increase performance, battery and some bug fixes (like system ui memory leak?) would have been very appreciated by me.
(P.S. Worthless to say that the "fused location" update doesn't bring any noticeable battery saving and also that to get rid off memory leak i have to install a custom rom)
Yeah. I was kinda expecting them to talk about 4.3 and then give us a date when to expect it.
I dont think anyone is happy about it (we all love new features)
but i understand why they did what they did.
Google I/O is a DEVELOPER conference. so they did a bunch of stuff for DEVELOPERS so they would be able to make better applications.
and 4.3 is rumored to come June 10th...hopefully that will help you out a little bit with your problems.
i like multiple threads about i/o
Id say google nailed it with this io. This wasnt just for developers. They pushed updates to the whole android eco system. Yes they could've just released a new android version and some neat features to go with it. But that wouldnt move the ecosystem forward. This way the whole android family from 2.2 is affected. And ofcourse the developers knew their being heard , which is in every way VERY VERY good for us users.

Everything suggests, that a 4.3 release is close by, but it was probably supposed to be at I/O but got delayed. In my opinion they actually made up for it by pushing all the play features, which may not seem like an upgrade to the user, but which greatly increases general userexperience in a subtle way.
I agree with ferozfero. What they did unveil at I/O may not be what everyone wanted but looking at the big picture, it paves the way for some good stuff down the road. Google has a lot of other services that arent directly related to Android, which all got major updates. Complaining that we didnt get one little update to Android is pretty ungrateful. 4.3 doesnt need a big event to be released so we should all just be patient and see if the june rumor is true.
On a side note, Android will be celebrating its 5th birthday this september. I find that to be a good time to release version 5.0 if any.
Wrong thread. Thanks for failing Tapatalk. :banghead:
Actually i'm not complaining and i can sleep as every night even if my android version is still 4.2.2, but 2013 i/o was just out of my expectations and i wanted to share with everyone my thought. Another guy created a thread about google i/o, but he was simply disappointed about a "stock-android galaxy s4" instead of a nexus 5 or what ever it could be. This thread deals with android update and i/o no one spoke about it during the conference. I'm sorry if you think that i'm ungrateful, but developers at google are paid for their jobs and i deserve to expect always the top from a such rich and great brand like google.

Yes you can expect top stuff. But you should know that google has not disappointed anyone here. Actually they wer taking a step back for the good of the company and us. Yes they couldv just released a new version and everyone would be like yeeeee we got a new android version with cool features everyone but nexus users wont see for a year. But instead they released a slew of that will be available right then and would affect ALL end users much sooner tha a new android version. This us not to say theyr not gonna release one very soon. That way we would get all these awesome features and also a new android update. Everyone's happy.

I'm just excited for gcm (google cloud messaging).
Api sync notifications is going to be epic. I have two phones work and personal along with a tablet and to be able to sign in, delete notifications, etc from one device to all the others is going to be so nice.
I was satisfied with the io

Sorry if you thought I was soloing you out. I wasn't. I was talking about people who complain in general. A lot of people EXPECTED certain things at Google I/O and all I can say is I blame the rumors. Thats what rumors do to people.

I respect your point of view because, actually, you're right. I think the same (that an update will be released soon)...my real disappointment was because they didn't talk about it.

Never mind Actually i'm really ANGRY because i thought that they would have released a major update and i reflashed factory 4.2.2 image and relocked the bootloader some days before the i/o, to get ready for the update! (LOL,just joking)
People are acting like if the OTAs come out on the day of I/O...I guess it helps to be prepared.
