Hi all.
im guessing from what im finding here my wifes phone is hardbricked. she was just texting a friend when it just froze. it would not reboot or anything. i did a force reboot and all i get is a black screen. not even a charge LED.
when i plug it into the computer i get hs-usb qdloader 9008.
both of our phones are stock.
what do i need to get the phone back.
its a S8+ from verizon.
SM-G955U
REV1.0
what do i need to get the firmware back on it, just want to keep it stock
of course i would like to have everything let alone, but im guessing no luck in that with this problem
thanks for any pointers
UPDATE.
so at this point i dont know whats going on. at first the phone was not doing anything, but now i can get into the bootloader menu. i have tryed most the options other then factory wipe since i need to save whats on the phone.
so my question.
if i can get in the download mode or whatever and reload the BL. will it wipe any saved data on the phone.. or is there something else that also might need to be reloaded
and im going to try and wipe the cache if i can get into the menu
i have not messed with loading software on this, so any help would be loved

I think I bricked the poor thing. I tried to flash my rooted EVO back to factory, and it stopped half way. And I tried again because it was stuck at a HTC logo on the screen, which it completed 100%.
Now when I boot up, it goes straight to Fastboot, I can't get anywhere, I go to the Bootloader, and click recovery, it shows me the red triangle. Now trying to factory reset and get something back up and running.
Can anyone tell me if there is a way to fix this?
It sounds like you're plugged in and your phone sees your device. Can you run a ruu on your PC in a way that will install it?
Sorry, a bit over my head, but I really doubt you're bricked (I know you're not bricked), if your PC can still see your phone. Someone sager than I will be able to help.

I've done my fair share of searching and I couldn't come up with much so I strongly believe I have a unique problem. I hope someone can point me in the right direction
Im have a rooted GS3 747 running Paranoid Android. A couple days ago the phone wouldn't charge. I tried different cables and batteries and after some testing with other GS3's I realized that my phone's charging port was broken. As a result I couldn't even connect my phone to the computer to unroot it with odin. I want to unroot so I can send in the phone for repair under warranty. So I downloaded mobile odin pro and proceeded to unroot my phone. I copied the original rogers rom to the external sd, followed the instructions and started the process. Everything looked like it was going fine until I got stuck on the samsung screen. Did some more research and learned that I had to do a factory data restart by booting into recovery mode. Did that. By now I'm feeling pretty good about all this. I followed the instructions all the way and I'm thinking that I'm gonna get a stock phone shortly. Wrong! The phone was still stuck on the samsung screen.
Now since I cant connect my phone to the PC cuz the charging port is broken I dont know what to do. I would have just flashed Clockwork Mod like I did when I first rooted and started all over but I cant.
If no one has a solution then Im just thinking of sending it in as is. Maybe they wont be able to see that the phone is rooted since they wont be able to connect it their PC without swapping out the motherboard to fix the problem.
I should add that I went to a repair store to try and fix it and they told me that the only way would be swap out your mobo.

You will want to be sure that your flash counter says 0. This can be found by entering download mode (vol down, home, power) and you will see "custom binary count". that is how they will tell that you have rooted. Have you entered recovery and done a factory reset to get past the boot screen? If you can full wipe/ factory reset and get back into Android, I recommend you use "triangle away" app to clear your flash counter.

I entered download mode and dont see flash counter anywhere. I got the warning screen were you have the option to restart or download.
Ya I entered recovery and did a factory reset but nothing. Really cant do anything with charging port broken.
I sent it in anyways for repairs. Hopefully they just replace it
I'm having the same problem with my Gs3 with CM10 4.2.2 running. Thought this would help.

So I wanted to install a new custom ROM and I all ready had one. It wasn't the first time. So, like usual I download the files needed and put them on my phone, boot into recovery and flash them ( but I didn't factory reset or anything because with the ROM I had I didn't need to for it to work I could just fix the not responding errors) Then i go to reboot and I wait. Nothing, nothing at all. Now I try to remove the battery and try again and now none of my buttons do ANYTHING the only sign of life there is, is when I remove the battery and plug my phone to a usb cable and attempt to charge it, all that happens is a red LED comes up. It's probably due to one of the things i installed on my phone that flashes a red LED when battery is low. Please help me with this. My last resort is to give my phone to rogers for them to fix it because I still have a warranty.
Specs: S3 i1747M Rogers
I had aokp jellybean 4.3 as my ROM
I do have a nandroid but its on my phone's sd card
Thank you for your time and I hope we get this to work.
Can you get into recovery mode or download mode?

No there's litteraly nothing I can do. pressing all the buttons does absolutely nothing. Just stays black and no signs of life
bump. I need help fast with this.
Not sure exactly what you did but I hate to say its sounds hard bricked. Mine was exactly the same, with only the red light coming on for about a minute when cord was plugged in with no battery. I screwed mine up with a file I grabbed without reading properly what it was for and in my haste I installed it. After I rebooted it never came back until I got it back from warranty with a replaced control board. Im guessing they didnt even check the internal memory or they would haven known what a dumbass i was since i voided the warranty doing stuff i had done before that mistake. Glad I had made a nandroid before i pooched it so i didnt lose anything after i got it back.
Yeah after some research I found out I hardbricked it but this isn't the first time and I had a warranty for both( different phones btw )times so I guess I'll just send it out. :c
could just be out of juice, leave it on the charger for around an hour then try and go into download mode.
This is my last ditch effort. Small back story: I somehow wiped EVERYTHING on my G2. EFS partition, ESN, data, SIM info., everything with dialer codes. All of my network information reads "unknown". I tried many methods from here on the forums to get this data back and it turns out I have lost my EFS partition- DNA for the network? I sent it to LG to get it fixed, having done a hard reset and leaving no trace of root. They sent it back without even asking and did no repairs. The note said "board bent". WTF?? How does the user bend the main board, especially when I never opened it? They voided my warranty and ripped off my IMEI/MEID sticker from the back of the phone.
Anyways, I am here with a brick. No network still. Here is what I have done:
1) .tot method to ZVC. Several more times... once to ZV7 where I lost touch capability. Luckily saved my arse with a micro->usb cable and a mouse.
2) attempted to root with ioroot25. Failed because the phone WILL NOT find recovery mode. adb, voldown+pwr then again from power off, and apps are unable to force the phone into recovery mode. I assume it is possible that my recovery mode is deleted?
3) Would have tried all of these "rewrite your efs/imei/etc" things but I can't do any without root. Can't root without recovery, can I?
4) Spent the last two weeks scouring the internet for a fix and going back to my Epic 4G temporarily.
Please help me, has anyone seen this before? Can anyone help me fix it? I am to the point where I would pay to have it fixed. Any experts out there? XDA has yet to let me down... I just need to know if I can fix it or if it is a brick so I can go searching for an old Sprint GS3.
Thanks all,
baublitz
what exactly happens when you tot back to ZVC? even thought the data is borked, can you still use the phone normally? Then proceed with ioroot ? what happens with ioroot when you running it after flashing tot? so if u can tot, that means u have download mode right? Sometimes i have a lot of issues getting into recovery, other times its really easy. Try again to get intro recovery. There really is a timing that needs to be precise. From experience, hold down vol down and power as soon as you see the LG logo, dont have the buttons pressed be4 the logo, only instantly after. good luck.
what's up, any one miss me
so I got another G4 and thought I could fix this buuuuuut I got one issue before I can go forward with a repair for this phone
there is no download mode and no recovery, there is no OS, I tried vol. up plus power etc. and it just sits on LG logo, my PC did not make any noise that is sees the phone, at this point I'm already seeing its already bricked, its been awhile that I messed with a bricked phone (lgg3) but I never messed with a bricked lgg4 before
this phone I just got and it is marked untested so I figured why not lets see what I can do,
I don't mind getting the latest OS and I don't plan to root this phone, just factory reset and go. I did look but anything I seen didn't match what I am facing, I been messing with this thing and looking around ever since I got home so now its time to ask you all. if the phone is a no go from here then that is fine at least I tried to get back in the game here, any help would be great and thank you.
if this comes to a success, I plan to make a phone repair video as I know some/most have missed me, if you don't know who I am, hit me up or look up my username laserwolf452. sorry I haven't been on in forever
(update) managed to find factory reset didn't know had to let go of power and press again but it did not solved the issue, still looking at posts to see if there's anything I'm missing, my vs986 i can hold both power and vol down without letting go of the power button, is there another way to get download mode at least, as for the fact. reset mode, it was just yes no, no other options
(update) dumb moment, so yesterday I tried to work on this phone, long day at work and realized that the USB cord I use was not good, just charging and found that out when I hooked up my vs986 and yes its been a long time that I haven't messed with this phone, so I was right it is bricked I got the qualcomm hs-usb qdloader 9008, there was another one it showed eariler and it was qhsusb_bulk fix
so now I got somewhere. I am trying to find some methods to get this phone at least back to life and factory stock
I did try to go in DL mode but it show the icon but it will not kick over to firmware mode, before more time is put into this phone at this point, is it worth getting it back or is it dead dead,
if its worth it, is anyone willing to help me understand a method that works to fix the phone. I do have hard times understanding how this all works and at this point in my point of view, it feels really really complicated
