This is an odd issue I've been having with my Note 10 plus.
Used the 3d scanner before the September patch and it worked fine, but I don't remember using the app since the patch. Now when I try to launch the app, it loads for about 5 seconds, and then crashes. I get a message on the bottom of the screen that says "Couldn't open 3d scanner. Try again."
I've tried so far:
Clearing cache and wiping data for app
Rebooting phone
Uninstalling and reinstalling app
Clearing phones memory, cache with device care app
Googling (no specific results)
Other than wiping my phone or clearing my phones cache from recovery mode, I'm at a loss. I can't justify the hours lost resetting my phone (500+ apps) and don't remember the risks of wiping phone cache
There is no or negligible risk of wiping cache
OK, try wiping the cache. If that doesn't work, backup all data and try a factory reset.
If that doesn't work there may be a problem with the 3D camera on the back which will be a warranty repair. As Samsung wipes the phone as soon as they get it, privacy issues, you would still need to backup before you do that anyway...
You could also try the test mode you access by the keypad but I'm buggered as to what the code is, someone else may be able to tell you...
Good luck...

So I just got this phone brand new in the box from insurance company and the camera started off working and now all it does is stay on a black screen when loading into the app. It doesn't load at all. This is making me and really don't want to send to get a nnew phone again

Pull the battery.
Or try a factory reset.
Settings>SD & phone storage>Factory data reset
Try clearing the cache in the camera app and if that doesn't work then do a factory reset. Sometimes certain programs can mess up the stock camera so clearing the cache could resolve this. I had this occur before when fring was installed and I would have to task kill and restart few times to get the camera to work. Uninstalled fring and stock camera booted up fine again. Good luck.
I rooted my r800x almost 2 months ago. Used Doomlords one-click zerg rush. Still have locked bootloader. Anyways, things were just fine for awhile. Even used rom toolbox to change the theme and some notification icons. Other than that my rom is stock. Well randomly whenever I go to the market if would say "device not compatible with this app." Only thing that seemed to fix it was restoring a nandroid backup. That was 2 weeks ago. Now it's doing it again and I haven't made any changes to my system since. Not sure why its doing it again. Even says it on apps that I already had and have been using for ages so i know they are compatible.
Any ideas what's going on or how to fix it?
No one has any ideas? Has this happened before? I can't figure out how to fix it now, shy of factory resetting and re-rooting.
Did you change your screen's density?
I changed it to 230 from 240. So i just tried changing it back to 240 and rebooting upon prompt, still issues. Did another reboot just to see, still issues. Could it be something else I changed? Did a theme change so lockscreen, notifications, volume, etc are blue. Also changed system font and boot animation. I think that's it. Oh wifi scan interval.
When you change screen density, a reboot won't be enough. You need to go into settings, specifically the manage applications section. Select Market, force stop it, then clear data. Load up your market again, and you should be fine.
I tried the force closing and data clearing twice and no luck. Made sure the density is at 240 which is what it normally was. Even changed the system font back to stock. I wish I knew why it's doing this and not resolving itself. Frustrating.
Have you cleared the dalvik cache as well?

Ok well I did the market force close again and wiped data, turned off device for a half hour, turned it on and left it in standby with screen off for a half hour, then opened market and now its fine. Very weird. Should I wipe the dalvik cache anyways?

Nope, (when I change the screen density, I have to force stop market/clear market data, reboot into recovery/clear dalvik cache/reboot before market works again (it's a pain in the butt, so I normally don't do it))
If it works, it's good.

Sometime after upgrading to 4.1.1 my Galaxy Nexus began to have trouble viewing Youtube. At first I blamed the network, but trying to view a video in the gallery has begun to produce the same result, causing the app to hang and crash, as well as causing Face Unlock to stop working, requiring a restart. Clearing the app's Data and Cache have no effect. This was only a minor inconvenience until I installed 4.1.2; Since the update having a Youtube or Gallery video fail causes the Clock app to stop working when my alarm is supposed to be triggered in the morning. Google Play Music still works fine.
The problem occurs at totally random intervals after startup, usually after a full day of being turned on, and I'm not entirely sure if it was initially caused by the JB update. I have enabled "Show all ANRs" in the developers options to no avail. When upgrading to 4.1.2 the OTA failed, as did trying to install the OTA files through CWM. I was forced to re-flash the device without wiping. I have a GSM Nexus running Stock 4.1.2 takju JB, rooted and unlocked with Clockwork Mod Touch custom recovery. I've tried searching the internet for people in the same situation as me, and although I've found several similar, I haven't been able to find the same problem, or a way to fix it. I have already tried using Fix Permissions in CWM, closing and uninstalling other unrelated apps, and Clearing the Data and Cache for all the affected apps.
Any help you could offer would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance.

wipe data/factory reset
I realize that will almost definitely fix the problem, but I'm wondering if anyone has an idea of what could be done short of wiping or re-flashing the device. I'd like to keep a factory reset as a last resort, but thanks for the quick reply.

Not entirely sure if this is the same but my camera, gallery, music and a few others wouldn't work, giving a no storage error. I flashed a different kernel and now all is good, maybe worth a try before a full reset!

I've heard of a few problems like that, but my phone gives me no error dialogs at all, it just stops working. All the apps are fine until I try to view a video. Sometimes it works, other times it doesn't, but if the video does fail and I have to mash home to to get out of the app then anything media related stops working with the exception of Play Music. Sometimes I don't even get an ANR.
I might try to flash a new kernel. Could you tell me which on you used?

Have you tried reflashing the gapps?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus
I haven't tried Reflashing Gapps yet. I've attached a logcat file from when Youtube, Gallery and Camera stopped working. Only Face Unlock displayed an ANR. I haven't been able to pinpoint exactly when the services stop working, but it doesn't seem to be when I do something specific to the phone.
Backing up, reflashing the phone and the restoring all my apps and data fixed the problem. Thank you all for the sugestions.

Hi, thanks for trying to help, please, anything would make me happy. I'm really desperate for a response.
I'm at the end of my rope. I don't know what else to do, I kind of really need the back camera on my phone and I can't afford to buy a new one.
I'm running an ATT GS3 with Liquid Smooth 4.2.2, correct GAPPS and everything. This incident happened under another ROM, Illusion.
My camera started to slow down and my viewfinder would drop to ~10 FPS when taking a picture. Thought it was weird, didn't think much of it. Couple days later, I can't access it at all. I'll try accessing it through different ways like different camera apps and Snapchat, but it either closes or shows a black screen. My front camera still works, however.
I cleared dalvik, wiped everything down, and rebooted. Nothing. When I open the camera, the functions boot up and I can swipe to show options for a split second, then it's black and I get the message "Unfortunatly, Gallery has stopped.". Then I flashed back to my first Stock Touchwiz backup. Same thing. I tried a different ROM, Liquid Smooth. Same deal.
Otherwise, I've tried clearing the cache, data, force closing, disabling of the gallery app. I've removed the SD card and tried deleting everything displayed in Gallery. Nada. Still get this error.
I've tried researching this and I haven't had any sucess. Please, PLEASE help me. I'm pulling my hair out at this, I don't know how else to beg over the internet. ANYTHING

flash a new completely different stock rom not your back-up, wipe everything again before flashing, after you are done reboot and see if that helps
if it does not go back to samsung stock firmware (use odin) and remember to factory reset the phone before you do it
and am 99% sure that everything is fixed and everything goes back in-order when you go back to stock firmware.........hope that helps
Hi gang. So, the other day, I'm using Pro HDR on my front camera, and it was taking some pretty odd looking pictures. When I go back to the stock camera app, and click onto the front camera, it freezes. Restart tablet, same deal. Force stopped the camera app and cleared its data, same deal. I feel like this is a software thing caused by Pro HDR, and I'm wondering if a factory reset would solve this, but I've got too much crap set up for work to want to do that. Is there a way to reset, but back up all my logins and apps and all?
For reference, this is an absolutely pristine, unrooted, totally stock N7 FHD running KitKat.
Any ideas appreciated!
Even if nobody knows why the camera failed, can someone suggest a way I might backup my apps so I don't have to reconfigure everything when I try a factory reset? Preferably without rooting? I need to be careful about security with some of my data, so I prefer not to root.

I believe any app backup apps require root. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Helium, maybe?
Thanks to you both for the replies. The good news is that this problem has cleared itself up. I found some similar issues discussed on another forum, and some people have cleared thus up by 1) force quitting the camera app, 2) clearing its data, 3) rebooting the tablet. I'd tried all those things, but not specifically in that order. For laughs, I tried it like that and the front camera is back.
Hopefully Google is working on this, because others have reported the exact same issue.
