Hey guys I just got my HTC One and I have read forums and articles where they say that the HTC One doesnt have any lag. Well idk if I got a defective phone or something but my One has definite lag sometimes especially on the launcher. Does anyone else experience this or is my phone F'd up?

Now and even when I was on the stock rom, the day it launched, I never got any lag. It might be caused by an app you have running in the background. I wouldnt be surprised if some of the verizon/htc bloatware is causing the lag.

How would I check this? Idk since the day I got it I've had some pretty bad lag. Which surprised me since everyone was saying that the HTC one was totally lag free

Lag is perception with recent phones. If you think you see something you'd brain believes it... Or you have a defective unit.

Go to Settings > Apps and slide the screen over to "Running" in there you can see what is currently being used by your phone. It will also show you how much RAM is currently being used.
It might also help uninstalling some of the apps you do not use, like facebook, g+ or whatever else is something not in use. Once we get the write privileges fixed you will be able to remove things like HTC Car and other apps that are installed to the system partition but not actually required for the phone to function.

I meant totally disable it by tapping "Disable" but it's one of those apps where the disable button is greyed out. I hate those apps

I'd definitely exchange it. Are you using the car app? If not, it shouldn't be doing anything. And every review says this phone has no lag. The only time i see lag on my note 2 is when play store is updating crap in the background. Always slows things down.

Well actually I tried something and I went back to using a task killer and it seems to be doing the trick. Got rid of the lag and the car app no longer shows up on the running apps. Idk works for now, hopefully we can get this phone unlocked so I can start getting this thing to it's full potential

I just noticed today that the camera has become very slow (1 second or more) for saving pictures. Did not see that before and I've tried both internal storage and SD card for saving, with the same result.
I've factory restored my phone and it went back to normal until all my apps were installed / updated.
Is anyone experiencing the same?
Sent from my LG-H811 using Tapatalk
Update: when not on wifi things are normal. I suspect either Google Photos or my WD automatic backup. Will try to uninstall both and report back when I'm on my wifi again.

Try disabling HDR mode in Camera settings.
Sent from my LG-H815 using Tapatalk
HDR isn't at fault here. I tried with and without it as well. Also I'm not in manual mode with RAW saving. I'm quite sure it's related to the wifi backup processes but I'll try to confirm that later.

How or where are you experiencing this lag? Is it taking time to display the preview on the camera screen? Are you switching to Google Photos or the Gallery app and not finding it?
Let us know your findings. I encounter this as well. No idea what to look at. Thanks

Must be an app causing the issues.

I thought that when I took a picture the other day... I noticed someone said about disabling google photos... and that it doesn't happen when not on wifi.
I'm running google photos too, and also by default it only backs up over wifi.... things are beginning to add up now.
I might disable the google photos auto backup and see if there is any difference...

Only when on wifi. It's taking time to display the preview in the camera screen and during that time the shutter button is unavailable. The picture gets recorded, it's just taking an aweful lot of time.

I'm definitely suspecting Google Photos, but I read that even after uninstalling it the pictures keep getting backed up so there must be another process that does it. I haven't had the time to do more tests yet but as soon as I have I'll report back.

I too have google photos, but disabled the backup. Still have the issue sometimes. A reboot will fix it until next occurence.

Was having similar issue as the OP on VS986 after changing DPI. Reverted back as it was in a boot loop of sorts. Booted into stock recovery and did a cache wipe and now it's back to normal. Not sure if this will work your you, but you have nothing to lose.

I have V20 and very slow camera. I uninstalled One Drive and seems it become normal now.
My Pixel XL is rooted with Elemental kernel, but even when I was stock, my phone would slow down after a day or 2 of use. I would especially notice this slow down in the XDA mobile app. The app becomes very choppy. I can restart the phone and it's very fast again. Is anyone else noticing this?
Edit...The main problem I had with slowness was with the XDA app as that is the app I use the majority of the time. It was recommended to me to use the XDA Labs app and now I'm happy. There is no slow down at all with XDA Labs.
Sent from my Pixel XL using XDA-Developers mobile app
Nope. Mine has remained as fast as when I first started it. I'm completely stock and always have been.
Im stock And It Feels Just Luke It Did When It Came Out Of The Box. Have You Installed Anything That Could Be Slowing Things Down?
Completely stock, as fast as the first day I had it.

I don't know. I don't use any social media, unless XDA is considered social media. The only thing I notice slowing down is the XDA app. I can press the hamburger menu to refresh the thread and it might take 3-4 seconds to show the menu. Scrolling also becomes choppy. If I reboot the phone the app is smooth again, for a while. Maybe its the app and not the phone.

I downloaded the XDA Labs apk, this is way better than the legacy app I was using. Thanks
Phone completely stock, not app heavy, no social media (web interface only), just as fast as the day I bought it. No stutters or anything.

I think the slow down was just the legacy XDA app. I'm using the XDA labs now and I see no choppiness.
Has anyone else experienced high battery drain recently? System is chewing through my battery and I'm not sure why. I cleared cache and installed elemental x kernel but haven't seen a change.
If this is android 8, try going to the beta Google Play Services. I also disabled the automatically turn on wifi when in range of familiar wifi toggle. Both seemed to help me a lot.

Oh, you hadn't said so I went on the assumption that you were having this problem in 8 since a group of people were complaining about battery life on 8.
