Why A50 has still no custom ROM although this devise is very popular, and redmi not 7 pro has all major custom ROM
Considering we can run the gsi Rom of android 9 and 10 I'm hopeful.
Just wondering if anyone is working on it tbh.

The Answer To Your Question Is Simple..
You Bought The Wrong Phone.
Should Have Done Your Research...
Just Sell Your 50 And Get A Redmi.
I Own This Device For 3 Reasons:
1) Samsung Pay
2) With Xfinity's $250.00 Rebate.. It Cost Me $135.00.. Including Tax.
3) Xfinity's Unlimited Data Is Less Than $50.00 A Month.. And Uses Verizon's Towers.

You are perfectly right. Everyone has his own reason - as A50 is nothing special.
Mine is: I turned back to Samsung phone as my Galaxy Watch ( which I like ) works best with Samsung phones.
Special.. Well, Maybe..

"Special" is Subjective...
What you get for the price... Simply Cannot Be Beat..
Especially if you are in a Region that takes advanage of Samsung Pay.. Encrypted.. Secure Transactions..
Everytime.
And the Battery Life ( at least for me ) is SPECTACULAR..
I had a Redmi Note 5 Pro... Rooting = Issues..
And... Having Issues Gets Old..... Fast.
I'm grateful I've learned to live without that headache... And value 100% Stability ( And Samsung Pay ) above all else.
For Me.. The 50 is Special... 90% of an S10+'s Feature Set..... 33% ( Or Even Less.. ) of it's cost.

Try Lenovo P2 ( which I still have ). 4-6 days of usage compared to 2 day usage with A50. This is spectacular.
I left Lenovo P2 for 2 reasons: cooperation with Galaxy Watch, camera below average
I am going to move to Galaxy M30s. Same Exynos as A50, 6000mAh battery and forget about crappy underscreen FP. Samsung pay does not work in Poland so I do not care about it.
P.S. And you are right. It is all subjective
Cough Cough.... I'm on the A50 (FN) and I have a custom ROM installed soooo
On my previous devices i was building roms.
But i really enjoy Samsung rom, once debloated i must say, it's feature rich and very stable. And monthly updates. So for now i see no reason for custom rom.
+ Samsung is very specific, and it is not an easy thing, need to be an very experimented dev to bring the first custom rom (vendor, kernel, device trees and a fully working twrp) .
So ( risks + bugs ) VS ( Feature rich and monthly updated samsung rom ) = Samsung rom win.

Now... For Me, The Fingerprint Sensor After The Update Works PERFECT.
I have my own way of setting up 2 fingers ( 1 on each hand ) and , I have no issues.. if the Facial Recognition doesn't grab it first.. it works without fail.
I'm not going to waste space posting another thread about how to setup your FPS... but you can make it work really well.
Great if you are not loosing money switching from one device to another...
For Me... here in the United States of America.. you can get a $250.00 rebate on this device which cost $385.00 out the door...
That's a $135.00 U.S.D. cost for me............. WITH SAMSUNG PAY
My Carrier is trying to get me to move up to the Note 10+.... $1,235.00 out the door!
No Thank You... The $135.00 I paid works just fine for me.. Geez... It's Just A Cell Phone!

Hey guys
So I'm here asking about the question in the title
I want to know whether the kernel sources are released by OEM or not ?
And I'm getting this phone for only 15K INR
Is there any android developement like custom roms possible on this phone ?? OR should I buy redmi note 4 which has a better support ??
I don't want to switch devices for few more years
Please help me here
That are two phones hard to compare.. snapdragon 820 vs 625, 5inch vs 5.5inch etc, fingerprint on front vs on the back etc... how should we know what you need or want?
Both are great..
And for custom roms > how about if you look into the roms, kernels, recovery.. section? Dont be so lazy man

Warning: Very long story
My purchase of 3Gb variant of Redmi Note 4 was final but could not buy it (everything happens for a good) as delivery was not available by flipkart in my area. I was very sad and finally decided to buy a new, seal packed Redmi Note 3 from ebay at Rs. 9300 (Rs. 10400 was listed price, after applying coupons it became Rs. 9300) as it had performance and recently got franco kernel too (previously available only on Pixels, Nexus and One Plus devices). Finally saw Lenovo Z2 Plus on Snapdeal for Rs. 12000 and immediately purchased it (was hesitant at first reading reviews on Amazon but could not resist SD 820 at this price).
The phone is great, no heating issues and was much better than Redmi Note 3 (Screen quality, camera quality, general performance, looks) when compared side by side as my friend had one. Battery is also good, I get 5-6 hours Screen on time on 4G network with hotspot on and around 7-8 hours SoT on WiFi.
About development, both devices have great roms but Redmi Note 4 has no custom kernel as kernel source codes are not released currently but may or will get them in future when sources are released. Also if you want to be like a trickster and change TV channels of any TV in lobby of any hospital/Hotel, go for Xiaomi phones as they have IR blaster.
The Z2 Plus recently got official Nougat whereas Redmi Note 3 and 4 are still on Marshmallow but that does not matter as you are planning to use a custom rom and all three have 7.1.2 Nougat custom roms.
Conclusion
If you like very good developer support with some good performance, go for Redmi Note 3
If you like development with superior battery life, go for Redmi Note 4
If you want a phone with sheer raw power and the one that does not slow down even after 3 years and a great value for money and brag among friends, go for Z2 Plus.
Currently Z2 Plus is available at Rs.13000 at Snapdeal but wait for amazon sale on 11th, previously at an Amazon sale, it was available for 12K and if you get any bank discount (sometimes 10 to 15% off on SBI Card etc during sale), you can get it for 10-11K too.
Go for the black one, it looks very good
Hope this helps
You can also watch reviews and comparison of phones on youtube for better decisions.

I am absolutely agree with hp5942's statements. Development for Z2 is only growing, it will be awesome in a few months. Note 3 has one of the best dev support and will have it for a long time. Note 4 is better looking and feeling than Note 3, but it is less speedy device.

My friend still has no performance issues with his Mi4 (SD 800, flagship at that time) even after 2.5 years.

Why do you guys confuse much. Its good phone for the price. For 13k you are getting snap 820
Its like for the price of audi you getting buggati
Why to get confused. There are minor software hiccups. As you are familiar with xda you can always use custom roms
Hardware wise there are no issues. Build quality is damm solid. I have thrashed my phone many times, but it still survives.
Back glass is lil fragile.

I bought z2 plus(4,64gb) @ 9.5k from amazon
(Actually 11k - 1.5k cashback)
So wait for any amazon sale
May be buy it on Diwali
For those not used to pimp their phones (unlock bootloader, flash rom etc...), i think Zuk Z2 is not a good choice as the original version is not perfect. But if you like to flash and customize your phone, so yes, 10 times yes,it's a very good phone (have it for almost 1 year and still happy with it).
Hey
Thanks for any help, and sorry if this isn't the proper space for it.
I've a Sprint S6 Edge, but I'm considering changing it for the new Xiami Mi 6. Is it a good deal?
Am I going to miss the 2K Amoled Screen? I'm going to feel the difference in the camera? And the IR sensor? Am I going to miss it that much?
I think MI 6maybe better than S6E, there's a 835 in it.
If u want keep on Sprint, do not purchase the Chinese brand cell phone which not sold by Sprint. Too pain.
If u can transfer to T-Mobile or AT&T, that a great phone recently.
Great phone, got it today.
i buy it today. so i waiting.

Well, now I'm using MI 6, I got it for have a month. The hardware is good except some problems caused by SD835(such as WiFi...), but the software is not so stable at the moment, for example, in latest version of MIUI the quick charge was limited...
It will be better after a few days, anyway software problems are easy to fix.

the question is in the title ^^, for precision, i would say that, since i have a phone, i use custom roms, the last i had was the samsung galaxy s5, the thing is that, custom roms have recurrent bugs on this device, we had to wait a long time to get a "stable" oreo rom on it, for example, camera and fingerprint were not working for a moment..
so i want to know if roms are stable and smooth on this phone, thanks

Reason I don't recommend you to jump on the Pixel is not much development is going on, The Device will be EOL on P so Major updates will stop some of the newer budget devices will still have that 2 years OS support and much more custom roms that you're after I think it'll be a better buy, Pixel XL isn't a bad buy by any means just I think better value for your situation is to be had on other devices

D-Load a version of the Stock ROM ( 9.5.17.0 if you can... ) transfer it from you computer and flash it..
reboot phone to twrp mode and make a backup of your data if u want data not to be lost.
flash your custom rom,and again go to twrp mode and restore your data excluding(system) and reboot the device.
try it,it worked for me without loss of data.

Not 30 Minutes Ago I pulled the trigger on the Samsung Galaxy A70.
It's only about 6mm taller than the XRN5.. but, packs a 6.7 inch SuperAmoled Display that is simply Incredible.
Samsung's OneUI coupled with a Samsung app called Good Lock.. gives you almost endless tweaks without root access.
The Snapdragon 675 / Adreno 512 SoC along with Samsung Pay having NFC and MST capabilities and 6 GB of Ram / 128 GB of Storage sealed the deal..
Honorable Mention To:
The Redmi K20 Pro
The Asus Zen 6
The OnePlus 7
A little more expensive.. faster.. but not as feature rich as the Galaxy A70..
I'll Stay In Touch.. You've Done A Fantastic Job Helping So Many With The XRN5... Keep It Up Boss! :good:

That's cool.. I've always used Xiaomi's Theme Store.. And I LOVE Dark Themes.. but it's nice for those that like to go from light to dark depending on the time of day.
And Yes.. I've so missed Amoled Displays.. I had a Note 4.. and would STILL be using it if I did not Cheap Out and buy a dang $1.00 car charger & cable..

Hi There X..
I think.. if you ask 10 different people.. you'd get 10 different answers..
In my case, Having the Note 5 Pro "Rooted-Stock" has been pretty much perfect. 100% Stable & Fast with Nova Prime and Animations at 0.5.. Viper sounds great.. Quickboot works like a charm.. And Greenify rounds out the reasons that I rooted the stock O.S.
So Why Move On From What Seems Like A Perfect Fit?
1st) Samsung SuperAmoled Displays.. ( My New Device Has A 6.7 inch Screen )
2nd) Samsung Pay (NFC / MST Technology Works ANYWHERE a Debit / Credit Card is accepted ) Google Pay.. Not.
3rd) Samsung OneUI ( In conjunction with an app called Good Lock ) provides Endless System Tweaks without root.
4th) Samsung 's AR Emoji's!!! ( Super Fun To Play With! )
5th) Samsung's Bezel- Less Design..( I'm cool with the Infinity U-Notch.. and you can hide it )
6th) I recently purchase a new Camry.. with Scoutlink Technology.. Toyota doesn't acknowledge Xiaomi devices at all... The Salesperson and I Brought a OnePlus 7 Pro out of a T-Mobile store to see if the Camry software would acknowledge the connection.. No Problem it linked to the OnePlus 7 Pro instantly.. as did a $100.00 Samsung J3 Prime device... Toyota Simply Does Not Acknowledge Xiaomi..
Well.. I think that pretty much sums up my thought process..
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro wins a lot of battle's..
But The Samsung A70 Knows How To Win The War.

Okay that makes Sense. I'm totally different
1. The 6 Inch Screen is totally okay for me and I prefer IPS LCD More. (Sounds maybe weird, but yeah xD)
2. Never used any of the paying technologies, never used NFC on any phone at all and I not really feel like I need it, I still prefer paying with real money that I can hold in my hand, oldschool, but that's how I am xD
3. I'm really in love with MIUI meanwhile and since the S4 I never used Samsung ever again. But yeah the settings I can manage on MIUI are more than enough for me. (I use my phone unrooted since I not like Magisk and I never unlocked it, all offical still and pure Stock since over 7 months, now on offical MIUI Pie
4. Not really Something I personally need ?
5. Even if you can hide it, I hate all types of Notches and avoid every phone that has it and it doesn't matter for me if it's bezel-less or not, so long the phone fits my needs.
7. Cannot say anything to that, since I don't own a car, I don't even have a Driver license with 29 xD Cause here in Berlin/Germany I not really need it since I get everywhere in Berlin just by bus and train really cheap per month.
So as you see, my Points are totally different and as you maybe see I will take good care of my Redmi Note 5 so long as possible. ? And you take good care of your new phone.
Is the oneplus 9 pro any good as was going to buy one and they have told me to go buy a Samsung or pixel phone instead as they are cheap Chinese phones same as oppos so not sure if to buy or not any advice would be great please if to buy or not

I got tired of waiting for Samsung not allowing bootloader to be unlocked. I like custom fonts systemwide and custom bootanimation.
Hi, Here's recent similar thread comments:
Also the 9 Pro is an overall great device for my usage...
One plus 9 pro worth buying ?
Looking at upgrading and was wondering if it's worth buying a oneplus 9 Pro what is battery life like how long it last
forum.xda-developers.com
Was looking at custom roms for oneplus 9 pro but it looks confusing wouldn't no where to start
The only flagship Samsung I would reccomend is the N10+ Snapdragon if you can live without a variable refresh rate display and 5G. These features have caused many problems since their implementation including outright hardware failures.
The OP phones are a viable alternative if you want a newer flagship. None of the new Samsung flagships have expandable storage and suffer from poor design balance. You may want to wait 6-8 months and see what comes next if you can. Waiting costs you nothing. It gives you more and better user input of existing models.
I was looking at s22 plus but not really sure but oneplus 9 pro was the phone I was going to get until I got told don't buy it

I left a Galaxy Note 10 for this OP 9 Pro and have not had any regrets....staying on stock OOS11, tried the 12 and didn't like it for the bugs and downgraded back to eleven.

The 9 pro is a great phone. Lots of customization, the screen is really nice, and the camera is awesome too. IDK if you're into rooting and custom roms but there's a ton of options with that too (which you can't really get on Samsung phones.) To say that these are just cheap Chinese phones just isn't true.
Someone told me that the phone was constantly rebooting itself so that's why they told me not to go with it as they said software is not good I have a s10 lite at minute and need a new phone

It isn't a necessity to use custom roms, you can make similar modifications to the stock rom. If you read the instructions very carefully not much can go wrong, and if something does you're almost always able to recover it with msmtool

That was one person, no telling if the constant rebooting was due to something he did....hummm
