Hey guys. After playing around a bit I wondered why Skype and account settings suddenly stopped working. After a while playing around I figured what was happening.
Since I'm not a fan of Chrome, I decided to remove it, like I always do. Don't want unnecessary stuff on my device.
After reinstalling, it was possible again to add a new account, also to start Skype. Seem it is bound to Chrome web view somehow. The alternative internal Android web view don't seem to work with these settings.
Does anyone have an idea how to safely remove Chrome but keep functionality?
Disabled the chrome app on my phone with no issues.
I'm also not seeing this issue.

Just disable chrome
I did. This also results in not being able to add a new Google account, or simply start Skype.
Only if Chrome is installed AND active it will work. Can you guys try again and report back?

Just ran Skype and added a Google account. No problem, no Chrome. I'm wondering if another app you installed is getting involved.

I uninstall chrome, no issue at all bro. All working fine.

Just have a look. And no: if I do a clean install and have nothing else installed other than Skype, it acts the same way. This is where I figured out why this was happening.
Edit: even if I don't install Skype any anything else: if I just deactivate chrome I can't add any Google accounts.

Hi all,
I'm having an issue where i can't download anything from the market. It just stuck when starting download. I even left apps trying to download overnight - and still nothing.
I already cleared data from all the possible places: download manager, market, google apps, etc. Everything else works fine. I have access to the internet, gmail, gtalk, Gmaps. I killed a task killer, powered off a few times and all the same
I'm running stock, version 003.
What are my options? Please help.
I had that problem with my G1 on TMO, but it hasn't been an issue with my EVO and Sprint. It could be poor service. Have you tried it over WiFi?

What account did you set up for your google account? I had this problem when I first got my phone because I did not use a gmail account. I figured a google account was good enough.
It isn't.
I'd start with troubleshooting your default mail account on phone. Your gmail must be your default. And...lucky...if it isn't...you get to do a factory reset.
That is what I had to do. Lesson learned.
thanks guys, i think i fixed it.
I killed startup auditor and started google talk. Now all works fine. I never had GTalk running and never had any issues with the market. I guess i let gtalk eat my battery life from now on..... Unchecking autosign in doesn't help. It always shows in the running apps.
I don't use a lot of the apps that came preinstalled and am just curious of disabling them will "break" anything or have a negative impact on performance or battery for any reason. These are the apps I don't use/would like to disable:
Books
Email
Google+
Latitude
Messenger
Places
Videos
Talk
Just don't need em. All Verizon apps were disabled with no problems.

Why wouldn't it be? I keep Google Talk disabled because it was a huge source of battery drain for me in the past.
Just not sure about some of them like Google+, not sure how deep integration is. Also videos, not sure if that's tied to the market somehow

I disabled messenger (not the Google+ thing, the built-in sms app) without any ill effects. I read on here somewhere that your gallery will FC if you disable Google+.
I don't just disable them, I use root explorer to delete them for good. Deleted Google+ with no ill effects, and a ton of other stuff I will never use.

You'll just have to test them one by one. From my experience, disabling google+ can cause the gallery to crash.

Books, Talk and Email are surely fine.
Latitude and Places may mess with Maps but they're probably fine.
Google+ (and therefore Messenger), along with Videos may mess with Gallery.
Just take a few hours and disable them 1 by 1 and see if anything happens.
I removed google+ with no adverse affects on the gallery.
Ended up just removing the whole lot. No problems thus far. Places is tied to maps though so unfortunately that will stay. Does anyone else's maps just start running randomly in your recent tasks. GPS and location are both disabled.

I disabled many: clock, calculator, doc viewer, earth, news & weather, and voice dialer ... as I use alternative apps. Never tried disabling critical ones (e.g., G+). Every thing seems OK.
I faced a problem upon updating system from 4.0.1 to 4.0.2. BUT I'm not sure of the error in updating if it came from disabling stock apps or something else.

Yeah, I've stopped caring about it. I burn more battery trying to track it down then just letting it run (at that, I don't think its actually using any measurable amount of battery). Its obviously doing something worth-while if it keeps poppin up.
You guys mind if I use some of the info in this thread for the GN apk doc I started on?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
Everything on the list minus places and latitude have been disabled for a couple days now with no issues whatsoever. Books enables itself with each reboot but I stopped caring and just left it up. Doesn't ever seem to run and I'm thinking it might be tied to the market in some weird way.

G+ and Gallery sync photos so just check settings for that in accounts and in app.

Anyone having trouble using this app? It downloads and installs fine but logging in just loops and never goes anywhere.
Edit: Installed Clean GB and it works. CM 9 issue or Spotify needs to update to 4.0.3?
I've been using it for about 2 months now on CM9 and it works fine. I had the same problem, initially, but all it's trying to do is login through Facebook (owned by the same guy). After you link it to Facebook, it'll work, and then if you don't want to share on Facebook, just change it in settings.
The app itself sucks compared to the PC version. You can't sort by artist, album, etc. and it lists any song you "star" by date added, no matter what, but you can at least search for new music and it will sync to your existing database. Just wish they would sort out the sorting function (ha!).
Edit: I think it may be due to the fact that Facebook sync doesn't work for ICS (yet) so it acts like you're not logged into Facebook even after you do through Spotify.
Hrm ok. Maybe I'm missing this link thing you mention. I'll look some more.
OK, did a fresh install of B1 and it works now. Thanks for your help.
No problem

So two days ago I installed freedom on my phone. I patched minecraft for the skins and then just left it and the next day my friend came over and was using my phone as a hotspot but he couldn't use snapchat. It just wasn't loading anything even though everything else was fine and it worked fine when he connected to my wifi. I then noticed my snapchat wasn't loading anything either so i logged out and that was the last time i've been logged into snapchat for two days now. It just thinks about logging in for ages then tells me it cant reach the servers. The other problem is my playstore won't work. It says check connection and retry instantly and ive tried uninstalling all updates to play store, clearing cache and data etc. Another weird thing is my phone was taking ages to boot up. I removed freedom cus I suspect it has sabotaged my phone but I have no idea what to do about it. I use snapchat a lot and it's really getting to me as this issue makes no damn sense. Sorry for the rushed typing.
Factory reset?
Oh, and anything related to Lucky P****** is a taboo on XDA. The mods are dead serious about it, you might want to edit your post quick.

Thanks for the reply and I've edited my post now. I have narrowed the issue down to being google play services as snapchat requires that to log in. I tried to remove google play services to reinstall it but it can't actually be removed fully not even with titanium backup so now it's just one big mess. My google account has been removed from my phone and I can't add it back because it just tells me "There was a problem communicating with google play servers". I really don't want to factory reset my phone as I have it rooted etc and it's just a major pain in the arse to get everything back to how I want it so I'm going to just try and sort it out by trying different things.
Edit: I solved it. Went into the hosts file in etc/hosts and commented out the ip for google play services then restarted my phone and that allowed me to log into google play account and everything works fine now. It said my hosts file was last edited at 9 oclock of august 30th so I don;t know what edited it but I feel like it as purposely sabotaged.
I don't know if this might help but i remember i had the same problem (coudn't use play store right after using freedom) on my s3. When you're done with freedom just remember to click on "stop" in the app or play store won't allow you to access it
Hi, BND-L21 here, recently updated to Oreo through Firmware Finder. Ever since the update, I can't sign into Google Chrome. When I tap "Sign in" and type my email address, I get a "This account already exists on your device" error. I tried removing my Google Account and adding it again through Chrome, but I get the same error. Same goes for all my Google accounts.
I also tried resetting Chrome, installing the Chrome Beta app, removing permissions, enabling all permissions... same thing. I'm at a loss here! All other apps seem to be functioning just fine. I tried Googling for an answer but couldn't find anything useful. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

The only solution that comes to mind is wiping your device, it solved the issue for me. Something got corrupted inside google apps data, it's happened for me in the past when I was installing gapps packages over others which were already present, sometimes it causes that.

Same issue here and Chrome is very unstable and slow. The scrolling feels like i have a 5 years old smartphone. Hopefully they fix the issues soon.
I have fixed the issue by doing a factory reset ..... Now it works normally again but Chrome is still slow and freezing. (2 tabs open only)

I've had this issue in the past you will have to remove your Google search history.

Indeed! :good: It's way smoother
Oh wow, is the only real solution to do a factory reset? That's really annoying! Chrome Beta doesn't allow me to sign in either...
Edit: Rolling Google Play Services back to the factory version and clearing the cache seems to have fixed the issue for me!
Uninstall google play service fixed for me
I got huawei mate 10 pro, i am already on android 8.0 since day 1. However just recently i got the same issue. Uninstall google play service fixed for me. but what's that mean is google pay will lost all settings and you will need to add your credit back there again.
Also after few days later the same problem happened again.
