Hello guys... We are going forward to pixel 4, after all of this years i want to ask what would be better to buy...
A brand new pixel 2xl 128gb? or a pixel 3a xl
Do they have same camera and quality?
Does pixel 2 work perfectly after the burn in problem on screen?
Let me know your opinion!!
Thank you all..
If I were in your shoes, I'd get the Pixel 3a XL simply because it performs similarly to the 2 XL in day to day use, has a headphone jack, and it's a tad newerr so there's always the off chance it might receive updates for longer
I steered my roommate to the 3aXL for an upgrade, since she doesn't need the flagship-level processor. In fact, the processor is the biggest difference between the two, as the 3aXL uses a mid-range processor rather than a SD835 or later. That said, the 3aXL, even with Verizon crapware on it (yeah she went with Verizon as she doesn't need root) it's snappy. In fact, I couldn't detect any lag when comparing it to my P2XL, despite the different processors.
The 3aXL only comes with 64GB of storage, which is starting to run a bit small.
The camera hardware is identical in both, but the 3aXL lacks the Pixel Visual Core chip found in the 2XL. This means some operations with the camera will be slower than with the 2XL as the 3aXL has to steal CPU cycles to process pictures.
The 2XL didn't have a burn-in issue from what I recall. Some units had a noticeable blue shift when holding the device at an angle, though the concerns related to it were largely overblown. That said, do keep in mind the following about OLED screens.
1. ALL OLED screens will have some degree of blue shift when held at an angle. This is normal for this technology.
2. ALL OLED screens can suffer from screen burn in if static elements are displayed for a long time. For example, my roommate used my Nexus 6 prior to the 3aXL and left the navigation bar up all the time instead of hiding it as I do. There is now burn-in where the bar is located, though I did manage to reduce the amount of burn-in with an AMOLED screen fix utility.
Opinion: Go with the P2XL. Like the 3aXL it will see Android Q and (possibly) R, has twice the storage, the Pixel Visual Core, water resistance the 3aXL lacks, and an aluminum body instead of plastic. Just be sure that the one you purchase is not a Verizon device, or else you most likely will never have root due to a locked bootloader.

The complaints were because the blue shift was more noticeable. All OLED displays, regardless of manufacturer, have some degree of blue shift.
Blue shift. My Galaxy S4 has it. My Nexus 6 has it. My P2XL has it. Three devices, made in different years, all with the same issue. None are defective, and the complaints about it with this device are overblown.
i got pixel 2 xl , thnk you so much all! should i update to Q or pie? what do you advιsing me?
Update to Android 9, then Q when it's released.

Yes, and gets better with every shot you take. The Pixel Visual Core AI analyzes past results - the pictures you have taken - to improve the shots you will take in the future.
Thanks
Good decision to go for pixel 2xl. I think it's better than 3axl. It has better processor, visual core chip and still two major upgrades remaining.
And we have sultan for p2xl.

Older OLED screens, like the ones you mentioned, for sure had blue shift as bad as the Pixel 2 XL. But when you compared other $850+ phones with OLED screens from the the year before and same year as the Pixel 2 XL, the shift was definitely not as bad on those. It's actually kind of sad that a phone in 2017 still had the same bad blue shift as phones from 2013 and 2014.

The point is that all OLED screens have it, regardless of vintage. It's a consequence of the screen manufacturers trying to cut their expenses by having displays share blue subpixels between adjacent pixels. Expecting there to be little to no blue shift on an OLED screen is like tilting at a windmill. Thus, the complaints are totally overblown.

I'm not saying there's no shift in any other OLED screens. It was just still way more noticeable on the Pixel than any other OLED at the time. Hence, why it was such a big downside in the reviews. I'm looking at an S9+ and there's a red shift but it's a lot less than the blue shift in my Pixel 2 XL.[emoji2371]

In case you haven't decided yet, I was also contemplating between these two phones (among others) and decided on the Pixel 2 XL recently. It ended up being better in regards to price, speed, number of supported bands, waterproofing, etc.
Regarding the discussion about the blue, go check eBay and you will definitely notice that some of the phones have it glaringly bad compared to others. Yes OLED has it, but my first one had it really bad. My latest has a very light version of it so I am happy.

I've got the note 8 now, thinking about getting the pixel 2 XL. Wanted to come on here and get your opinions. I've watched tons of videos, I loved the original pixel, but I also love my note. I miss vanilla Android though, so I'm thinking about switching back too the Google phone.

Who's going to have an opinion on a device that has not been released yet?
For me it came down to durability. I work in construction, so an all-glass body like the Note8 would be less durable and more prone to breakage than the Pixel 2's aluminum body.
Pixel 2 XL just because of better performance becasue of stock Android.
Touchwiz (Samsung Experience) is biggest crap with micro laggs and big laggs after time ..
Never gonna buy samsung in the near future again.

I don't think you can go wrong with either. It will pretty much come down to vanilla, timely and guaranteed updates or the extras the Note 8 brings to the table. Note 8 is an amazing device and I'm sure the P2XL will be amazing too.
Well, the decision was easy for me. I don't like TouchWiz and I demand prompt, regular updates. Samsung is getting better about their updates, but they are nowhere near Google. My vote goes to the Pixel 2 XL.
Pixel. Any day of the year

The New 8 is a beast, but I'm into Google devices like this badboy Pixel XL 2!
I had and returned a Note8. The phone is ridiculously fast and I have always liked the Samsung skin. However I greatly disliked the curved screen because I found things near the edges harder to see. Also the phone is crazy fragile with the curved glass front and the glass back. Dropping it once would probably destroy my $1,000+ phone. In the end I sent it back.
I had the s7e, pixel xl, s8+, and now currently have note 8, I've grown to like Samsung skin quite a bit as it does have a lot of useful features, but my short time with the pixel I really enjoyed it also but missed VoLTE was I was with att at the time. But now I'm with tmo and preordered the pixel 2 xl, but only time will tell if I'll end up canceling it as I really do love my note 8 but it's frigging heavy! But I don't think the poled screen will compare to samsungs super amoled, and I would really really miss the micro sad card
I've been using note since it came out and I've loved every second of it. I'm curious if pixel XL 2 that I have ordered can bump it out of the daily slot

For me the pixel wins over the note 8 in pretty much every category except for the storage, not offering a 256gb version in 2017 is ridiculous..get with the times google.

I pre ordered my N8 and I like it as a daily driver. We just got root for it.
That said, my trading in my Pixel XL for a Pixel XL 2.
Not sure what everyone's fascination is with manufacturer's bloatware and in contrast labeling the purest android phones to ever be made as vanilla.
The whole idea behind android is that you can do more with it, google simply (finally) made an android phone how it was meant to be made. Hardware and software that work flawlessly together but yet offer so much more that iOS does.
People still want phones that the true android experience such as , quickness, flawlessness gets mutilated by so many manufacturer's getting their greedy little hands on them and pretty much ruin what android is supposed to be. And don't get me started on the carriers crapware.
I have had a note 2, note 3, s6, s7 edge, HTC evo, mottoX.........all of which get glitchy and turn to crap slowly after each new android/manufacturer/carrier update. BUT NO MORE I TELL YOU!
Go buy a Pixel 2 XL and see how flawless everything works for you, very similar to iPhones. With the major difference is still being able to do soooo much more than iPhones.
There is no comparison between google phones and other android using phones and iPhone anymore. Hell google won hands down lol.
Mine will arrive on Oct 24th at my door step. I will post about the experience I have with the phone later.

Every category except water/dust resistance, display size, features, screen quality and wireless charging. ?
I have an s8+ which I really like, but I cant deal with having to debloat the device, deal with bixby and all the other branded garbage, so I'm willing to take a slightly more ugly phone (imho) and screen in order to get more timely updates. I honestly would stick with the s8+ if they had a non touchwiz edition. The general public does not care, and I think pixel will remain niche because of it. I'll miss samsung pay, which is really nice being able to use old machines and not wondering if they have NFC or not.

I have an unlocked S8 plus on Verizon. Last year I had the pixel and switched back to Samsung for the water proofing. I missed the pixel. The camera on it was great and even my wife loved it, she is all about social media and photos.
I ordered a Pixel 2 XL this year because I'm used to the larger screen. I feel that if the Pixel 2 XL is the same as the Pixel it will be a good phone. For me greatness will be a better camera from last year and battery life on par with the S8 plus. I guess by the end of the month we will be either singing it's praise or complaining.

Well luckily for me i dont care about the IP rating or wireless charging.
The extra screen real estate granted would be nice for sure but id rather have a slightly smalller screen with front firing speakers.
Screen quality on any flagship these days will be great...sure if you want to not pick the note 8 is better but Im sure the pixel will be just fine to look at.

The Pixel 2 is water and dust resistant no different then the Note 8. IP67/68 is for all intent purposes the same, the only difference is IP68 can go to 1.5m instead of 1m. Unless you go swimming all the time with your phone I do not see an issue. Wireless charging and an SD card slot would have been nice, but after dealing with all the bloat and problems with other MFGs, I am ready for a pure Android experience and timely updates.
I thought I'd put my thoughts on this as well.
I had the Note 8 for 4 months or so, and have recently switched over to the Pixel Xl 2.
As choices go, it was one of the hardest when it comes to choosing between phones. In the end, the Pixel XL 2 won me over on points, some of which were personal, some of which were facts.
Battery - (It's better on the Pixel XL 2, than the Note 8. It's a fact)
I am a heavy user (Spotify, chatting, a lot of syncing apps + a garmin vivosmartHr+). Unplugged at 7 AM, the Pixel's battery is at about 20% at around 23:30 (11:30 PM). To me, this is spectacular. Leaving work at 6 PM, it's almost always at 50-55%, and that is with me using it for streaming music as I work, chatting with my partner between job tasks, and using it on my lunch break. The Note 8 never gave me this sort of longevity. I almost always had to charge at around...2-3 PM, when the battery was at about 30% or such. The Note 8 never filled me with confidence that it could easily last me a day. Same thing with standby mode. The pixel simply does not leak batter in standby. My note 8 always did, even after factory resets, even after using it on a factory reset with no apps used (as a test)
Camera - (The image processing is better on the Pixel Xl 2, than the Note 8 (opinion). However the Note 8 offers a dual lens setup, which is more convenient for people interested in zoom photography. (Fact))
The Note 8 does have the better camera setup - two cameras are better than one, hardware wise. When it comes to the images that come out of the phones though there is no comparison. The Pixel's image processing is out of this world. My cat was my test subject, and I took pictures of my cat in normal-lit environments with both phones. Samsung's processing made his fur look muddy on zoom. The Pixel had preserved 90% of the texture, as well as realistic colors. Portrait mode is also better with the pixel. Given how I almost never use the telezoom lens, I decided to stay with the Pixel (personal preference), but the fact is that picture quality from the Pixel is better.
Updates/Software version - (The Pixel blows anything else out of the water. Fact)
I care for such things, and once more there is no comparison. the Pixel gets updated far more frequently.
Things that the Note 8 just does better:
- Screen (Note 8 wins, hands down. Fact)
Here is where the note 8 obliterates the pixel. The pixel does suffer from rainbow effect (my unit not to an extreme), it does have a bit of banding tough nowhere near as bad as the V30 or previous generation OLED panels. The black smearing/smudging (whatever you call it, the fact that blacks smudge when you scroll), is there. First I saw it on the Pixel I was like - is this for real? I got used to it by now, but for people who do care about such things - stay away. In comparison, the Note 8 screen is the most beautiful thing I've ever seen. Bright, colorful, my unit had absolutely ZERO banding. There was a light red tint around the edges (Which I am guessing is due to the curved display), but nowhere near enough to be distracting. The Note 8 wins here, hands down.
- Build quality (Note 8 feels better int he hand - This is my opinion)
Both phones are well built, but the Note 8 is a class of its own. I prefer heavier phones (the Pixel feels a bit too light for me). Holding the note felt like you were holding onto a ton of technology in the most compact of packages. IT was a pleasure to hold. Personally, I don't feel the same for the Pixel but yet again - this comes down to personal preference.
- Tech/Pen (Note 8 packs far more tech. Fact)
I never much used the pen, so I can't comment on that. I won't deny though that the ability to keep notes on the fly is amazing. The Note 8 gives you that out of the box, and is a much better working tool than the Pixel or any phone. Useful in meetings, presentations, etc. Iris scanner was also useful, but I found myself using the fingerprint reader more in the end.
So why did I choose the Pixel XL 2? Well, the bits that the Pixel XL 2 does better were more important to me as a user, that's all. Mainly battery life, software version and camera (remember - I almost never used telezoom lenses in my photography life, but I always loved bokeh photography as well as street photography).
You can't go wrong with either phone. What you can do is tailor the choice on what fits -you- best personally.
Hi guys
I have been struggling with the screen on my phone and i want to know if its only me who is having the grainy screen or there are more people having the same issue. Any solid color on the phone appear to be noisy and dirty. People in google are persisting that this is one of the characteristics of the screen and is normal. I cant believe that.
I have had one RMA and the second XL is the same as the first one, first device was shipped from the factory on 31 October and the second one on 31 november.
Should i stop overlooking this issue and live with it or should i push for another RMA?
Compared to my Note 8, the Pixel 2 XL is indeed grainy, however I found it's only noticeable on white/light gray backgrounds, and is hardly noticeable above 35% brightness. My friend's Pixel 2 XL is the same way so I assume this is "normal" for this phone.
The display is a grainy piece of ****. Had 4 phones, all the same, all noticeable even at max brightness on white backgrounds. Makes the screen look like paper. Photos look noisier when viewed on the phone as a result too. If it bothers you, best move onto a new phone.
I've heard the reports of a grainy screen. I've seen 5 Pixel 2 XLs (3 in a Verizon store, mine and a co-workers) and none of them have been grainy.

That's a different news. There is also another fact that its not visible if you don't really look for it on my phone but when you see the grain there is no way back. That's when you would say ignorance is a bliss. Still i would like to hear more from others if there is noise (i rather call it noise) on the screen or not.

Thanks for your reply im more interested to look into differences in grain visibility on pixel 2 xl's, because i have read very uneven comparisons for the same device and none is consistent. Some say they see it some say they don't. I can see the grain in all situations with 20% brightness and also with 100%, if there are some cases which phones are grainless (if that's even a word) i would like to report this to google. In your case all of what you have seen are dirty AF. ( They call it dirty screen effect on tv's)
I had 2 Pixel 2 XL over the last 3 weeks. 1st one did not have any noticeable grainy screen. Had to exchange for spontaneous reboots.
The 2nd Pixel I have now suffers from what you are describing, the graininess is notable from minimum to maximum brightness most pronounced on light grey and white backgrounds. In main setting menu, scrolling black text on white background such as websites and YouTube comments. In fact, this is noticeable to me on the 1st setup screen when you power on a new Pixel the 1st time. My looks like snowflake of old CRT screen, or using a matte screen protector. Unfortunately, it is very difficult to capture with any camera I have.
There are couple of long threads here you can search for grainy screen, and you will find few posts on it.
Check out Ars Technica's pictures of the grainy screen.
https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/201...view-the-best-android-phone-you-can-buy/2/#h3
Here is Erica Griffin from YouTube on the same issue (6:40):
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0JjbMT_x6CM&t=503s
Both of my Pixels was manufactured on 13/11/17, and they also have different degree where blue shift becomes apparent, so I think it is a pure luck if the next Pixel's screen you get might not have a grainy screen that you will notice.
At this point, from all my research it seems most screen of the Pixel 2 XL will have some imperfections compared to latest Samsung screens find in iPhone, Galaxy, OnePlus and the smaller Pixel 2. This is due to the immaturity of LG's OLED screen technology and the lack of any batch or individual screen calibration at the factory.
For me, the whole package of smooth UI and fastest security updates means I will overlook the Pixel's screen imperfection compared the my Galaxy S8+. But it does irk me for Google to charge similar price as Galaxy/Note and iPhone, when they know they can not provide a visual experience anywhere close to those phones. Even the OnePlus 5T I compared in store have a much better screen in terms of non-graininess, lack of pronounced blue shift and maximum brightness.
This is a bummer. The grainyness on mine is faint, but definitely there. Kinda wish I hadn't noticed it but in all honesty I kinda wondered why some pics didn't look quite as good on my phone as they do on my wife's pixel 2. I made trade this for a pixel 2 and be done with it.
Don't have this issue. I prefer gray wallpapers and I don't see this issue. I just tried looking at all white wallpapers and didn't see this issue either. Over on Android Central there seem to be a few people with this issue but the vast majority do not seem to have it and/or notice it.

Perhaps. I see it on a couple wallpapers here and there but it's rare - but I believe those are just not high rez enough for this screen. That graininess commonly happens when resolution of the image is lower than that of the screen it's being displayed on as far as I know.

That is what i also think is happening because i tried to check how many would notice the grain on my phone this friday. The baits were my friends. And only one noticed it. The rest noticed after i told them what to look for.
It is really a shame for google to think they would be able to compete with pixel 2 xl in such a tough market with thus screen and the price tag. I had high hopes for this phone and i have waited for so long to buy a pixel.
Anyways i received an email from a high level supervisor in google's hardware department saying:
"I am sorry for the inconvenience caused to you due to this. As I can see that the phone is working as intended and there is no issue with the device. In this case, we cannot process a replacement for the device. If you want, we can go ahead and check for the refund options of the device. "
Now i want to see what other phone you guys would think i can replace this with. I cant deal with Samsung's bloatware so no S8 or S8+ or note 8 please.
I notice it on white backgrounds but then I realized it's an overlay and it looks grainy because the screensaver shows through a bit on app drawers and such.

On the 3 in the Verizon store and my co-worker's I didn't have much time to look under lots of different conditions but on my own I've actually tried to see if. Different colored backgrounds, scrolling on white, different brightness levels, etc. Basically any situations people mentioned and still nothing. Besides the minor blue tint at off angle viewing (which I don't do anyways) I think the screen looks fantastic.
I somehow made a decision to go with the original pixel 2 xl (htc u11+) it has almost the same specs but 128gb, 6gb ram same cpu. Great screen.performance should be on par. It should be fine. What do you guys think?

Seems like a great device. Personally I'm going to stick with the Pixel experience if I trade my phone in. I'd rather have a smaller screen with all the benefits of a pixel than something outside of the Pixel line
It is what it is. If you can't live with it, then it's time to move on :d.
Screen is fine to me. Yeah it's not the best. But if you get a decent one it's good. The grain is there but only noticeable if you stick to the screen to your face and look out for it
If you see it in normal use I would say its a faulty screen
Just entered the phone lottery with a request for RMA. Leaving the Verizon store very reassured. The display on their demo model, while it had some blue shift, had no graininess. I couldn't believe how terrible my screen looked compared to the floor model. Fingers crossed I get a good one.
I'm planning to get either one but user reviews of the XL on online retailers are really scaring me. Especially since Google doesn't RMA devices so easily in India(according to the user reviews). I might get a defective unit and be stuck with it. The regular pixel 2 doesn't seem to have any sort of issues with it's screen or speakers. I've read reports of the XL speakers getting distorted, microphone stops working, certain areas of the screen stop responding to touch, etc.
Just wanted to check if you guys have seen such problems and if it is widespread before I make my decision tomorrow.
Had my 2xl Since November. Love it. Slight blue tint when viewed at an angle. I don't even notice it in everyday use. None of the other problems at all. I thought the Pixel 2 was too small for me.
I get about 7hr sot and with same usage my friend gets max 4hr sot on his pixel 2
That's more than anything for me to buy xl lol
Cheers ?

My 2 XL has very slight blue tint (a non-issue for me)
There is also very slight colour temperature changes and it's visible when you're on a white/light background. However, again, it's so slight it's a non-isssue for me
The bottom speaker rattles slightly when at max or near max volume, but tweaking the phone speaker with V4A hes helped with that enough where again, it has become a non-issue
Other than that, I always prefer the bigger version of phones, as it's easier for me to type on and consuming media is also going to be better on a bigger display
Even if I was a small phone guy, the big bezels on the smaller Pixel makes the design look a bit outdated
However, if you're saying it's hard to get an RMA done in India, it's up to you on whether or not you're willing to essentially gamble on a good unit, but I think you'll be fine as long as you're not the type to nitpick!
Well if anything i will advise you to get the pixel XL 2 if you are torn between the two. However new phones are being revealed in a weeks time and will be released in a months time. I'd say wait before you purchase a pixel. New devices will have new soc in it making it faster and mrore efficient. Don't rush my friend unless you clearly want a goolge device
I went ahead and ordered the smaller Pixel 2.
Even in the XDA Indian users thread, people were complaining about the terrible RMA process.
I don't mind the blue tint, but the distorted speaker problem will be too awful. I don't want to use V4A. And its way more expensive to take such a gamble.
I definitely want a Google phone. I miss my nexuses and their quick updates. If I wait for the S9, it would probably get updates upto P and Q, but the Pixel 2 should reach R! Samsungs are not smooth. I used an S8 plus for a while and there was noticeable delay compared to a One Plus 5.
Got a couple of discounts on the Pixel 2, and I bought it
hey guys,i rly miss the FP pull down qs/notification features that were in most roms (on my prvious phone 6p) and that is not available for op6.
it just has tap features and it's wonky as heck, was wondering if that's available on the pxl2?
here's the headache, my op6 is the 128gb/8ram version and the swap deal is a pxl2xl 64gb pxl2 is 4ram only i guess?
but from what I've read it's almost the same in speeds with comparison to the 8ram op6 even with the snap835 vs the 845, anyways i rly like the design of pxl2xl but do you guys think i shouldn't swap?
how bad is the tint issue ? (i dont mind the blue tint thing)
I'm more worried about image sticking permanently onto the phone or banding type of things.
op 6 screen is gorgeous though not quad hd. display is vibrant and shows wider range of colors. the only downside of pixel 2 xl is the screen, not bad but i wish it was better. i kept my xl but flipped the op6 for s9+. in hand feel, look and overall xl is a better choice imo. hope it helps, cheers pal. btw the newer batch of pixel 2 xl has less issues with its display than before, check the production batch if possible.
I owned the 6 and ended up selling it to come back to my 2 XL.
The mic quality was horrible on the 6 and there was even one evening where I recorded a bunch of videos to find out the audio didn't even get recorded when I went to watch them the next day...
The vibration motor also seems cheap compared to the 2 XL and the camera is not as good either.
I also had lots of false fingerprint scans on the 6, whereas the 2 XL reads my finger accurately 99.9% of the time.
I'll admit though, the screen was better on the 6 despite having a lower resolution. Also, the additional RAM did seem to make a difference but I don't mind apps having to reload every once in a while on my 2 XL.
Overall, I definitely think the 2 XL is better, the storage size really depends on how much you need and if you think you can get away with 64 GB.
Finally, the Pixel 3/XL are going to be announced in October, just something to think about. Hope this helped!
Never had the opportunity oppo 6, but I rate my Pixel XL2 as one of my favorite devices Camera is incredible, great development, etc.!
Oh, and we don't have a notch!

Not yet! ?☝
Gonna purchase a used phone soon. Which one do ya think?? Pixel 2 xl or OP5t??
I had both phones.
In my opinion both are great phones with great performance. I had the 8/128 version on OP5T and it was blazing fast. But the camera was the thing i switched to Pïxel 2 XL.
Now i love it and to be honest i dont see much difference in performace. But i use it mostly for browsing, youtube and whastapp. And debugging my apps so i dont give it a hard time also.
If you have specific questions please let me know.
The camera of 1+5t is disappointed compere the pixel.
Beside that is a good phone.

2xl if you want stay on stock rom and 5t if you want a custom rom...
Pixel is better anyday. You will get two more major updates. That should say it all
2XL hands down. Had a OP5, camera was garbage and gcam ports have a million problems on OP5/T. Front facing speakers, 1440p screen, ip67, better vibration motor (very important to me), more premium design, killer camera.
I had the OP 5T and it was rock solid. Very good batterylife for me, blazing fast and OP gives you Major updates and small updates regulary. Now i own a Pixel 2XL and so far its very nice and i Like it a Lot.
Pro's for the OP 5T:
Batterylife
Performance (2GB of more RAM are noticable imo)
Faster FP unlock + stunning fast Face Unlock
Pro's for the Pixel 2XL:
Much better camera
More premium feel (tho the OP 5T feels nice too)
Pixel Features (free Photos Upload etc.)
Always Up to Date Android (with still one more big Update to come at a Minimum and more then 1.5 years of Security Updates)
So all in all i think if i had to buy a new phone and they would have the same price i think i would go for the Pixel 2 XL again. If i could get the OP 6 or 6T for the price i think i would go with Them, because I really Like more batterylife and with gcam port you can get good Photos Out of their camera too and Performance is better
Hope i didn't forget anything.

1+5t has a better screen, faster phone, major updates, headphone jack.
OP if you're considering a OnePlus phone I would go with the 1+6. I have that and a Pixel 2 XL. I'm always torn on what phone I want to use what day lol.

I don't think so it has a better screen. Faster phone? By how many seconds? Does headphone jack even matters now??

Yes, even the 1+6 has a better screen than the pixel 2 XL due to the blue hue and screen is bad if you have your brightness all the way down with nightmode on in a dark room. Look closely at the screen and it looks "dusty". My panda slows down a ton when I'm updating apps once a week (about 50 updates on average) and if I try to play a game or open an app. The 1+6 and 1+5t on the other hand can take the same work load and still zoom by without a problem. For me headphone jack is really nice to have. I understand Manufacturers wanting to push people to buy their Bluetooth items, but why not give the consumer the liberty of choosing "hey do I want to use my 3.5mm jack or Bluetooth headset today?".

Heck right now I've come back to the Pixel XL 2 from the OnePlus 6T. I added oneplus gestures so I could at least have that feature that I liked so much on the Pixel. It's been updated and works a lot better than before.

I'm not sure about 5t screen but yeah 6 might be better. The blue tint doesn't bother me or the black smearing as such. The grain is irritating though. My pixel never slowed down like yours though. Ah well it's debatable when it comes to 3.5mm jack. One plus will also move towards excluding it eventually, you still get an adapter? I've attached mine to my earphones if i ever need them. I use wireless almost all the time though.
I don't know there is something about pixel which no manufacturer can make you feel. The camera obviously is the best in the world. I think you will get more updates with 2xl than with one plus. Also Google will optimise it for pixel more for obvious reasons
I have a Pixel 2 XL and my wife has OnePlus 5T.
So I know both. Literally.
If you want to take picture and fool people that it was a freaking DSLR, take Pixel 2 XL - it's unimaginably good for a phone camera.
If you don't care about taking photos "at all" - Take OnePlus 5T. Pure Android is a midget in front of Shaq O Neil when it comes to software experience in comparison to OxygenOS. It just cannot compete. Anyone who says otherwise, hasn't used both extensively. Whether it's battery life, fluidity, features, RAM - like is said, except camera, OnePlus 5T wins in everything.

Oh come on now you are just exaggerating ... Battery life is better in pixel 2xl , but that depends on your usage as well. I don't see any stutters in my pixel 2xl so I've no complaints regarding performance either. Ram is a hardware and can't be changed, that's our conscious decision.

Regarding the headphone jack, you are right: People who use it extensively probably won't touch a Pixel 2 XL. I personally have never ever used the jack on any phone I had, so it's a non-issue.
The screen on the Pixel 2 XL is a matter of luck: My phone is one of the first ones manufactured (in October 2017), and its screen was OK. I got a replacement screen after dropping my phone, and this one is much better. Hardly any blue shift and better colors (I was really surprised after the replacement!).
I have no problems with app updates, everything works fine. But I rarely game, so YMMV depending on your usage.
But the Pixel 2 XL has the best software I have ever seen on any phone, this is my first phone where I use the stock ROM as-is ( but with Magisk, TWRP and Substratum). It is rock solid, has a very good battery runtime and is super smooth. So I will stick to Pixels for the time being - this also is the first phone where I don't see a need for replacing it after 1 1/2 years.
If the Pixel 4 doesn't have some earth-shattering improvements, I'll stick with my 2 XL as long as it lasts...

It's a usage based comparison, not an isolated opinion. Besides, I didn't say Pixel 2 XL fluidity is "bad" I said OnePlus 5T is better and it definitely is.

That's what i said as well it's usage based but as a general comparison on gsm arena.. 2xl scores over 5t.
I never said that either but 2xl is at a point where you don't really care about the fluidity much because it's already very smooth. The animations may make it look a bit slow but if you disable them you've an equal experience. Who cares about something less than a second. Only the 3.5mm jack is an advantage

I've had 4 Pixel 2 XLs from September to December builds. The December ones are definitely better but still suffer from blotching at low brightness in dark rooms and have the grainy/dusty screens that I described earlier. I agree that the pixel has some of the best software since it's pure, but I still believe OnePlus had done a better job at software than Google from 1+6 onward. This is definitely not the 1st phone I've kept stock. You should give OneUI on a Note 9 a shot. It's unbelievably smooth as butter and the functionality of it is amazing.
At the end, to each their own. And it's true what you said that your milage and experience will vary. The one true reason I come back to the pixels is strictly the camera which is amazing. I will try to find a good offer on a Pixel 3 XL to see how much the pixel has improved with the SD 845

A key concern should be software updates ..5t can't compete..OnePlus and all other non-pixels are in the milking mode, milk a new release to the max, when sales get slow release a new phone and forget about the older ones

I agree. On my panda 2xl, which i got a month ago, the black crush and ghosting with low screen brightness is quite bad. At least disabling adaptive brightness "solves" the issue. Blue shift is minimal though.
With low brightness, even my old Galaxy S6 behaves much better than the pixel 2 xl. The op6 also uses a Samsung oled panel.
