Unable to unlock after Pie Update - LG G7 ThinQ Questions & Answers

Received today the official European Pie Update. And now it doesn't let me unlock the phone with finger prints or code. And can't shut it down, only restart. Help appreciated.

I do have the same problem - it's not possible to unlock the phone. I restarted the phone into "safe mode" (long-press power button on screen and select "safe mode") but the problem persists.
I can get phone calls and SMS and all, but i only get a black screen if i try to unlock. Only way to get into the GUI is by restarting the phone...
If someone knows what to do besides a factory reset, I would highly appreciate it!

Same in Sweden. DidnĀ“t do backup so hard reset is last thing i whant to try. I have a symbol on the screen i have never seen before, looks like a torx screw .Does anybodu know what that symbol is?

This is just awkward...
I couldn't wait any longer and had to reset my device and now it works again. I was able to login after each reboot so I could make a backup. But it's cumbersome anyway.
This is so bad from LG - after launching a "Software Upgrade Center" and waiting months to get android pie, this was the first time I had problems with an update... Never again LG...

Had to do a hard reset too. Then it worked

I have this problem, too
I'll wait a little bit, maybe we can find another solution, I don't want to wipe my phone, I was to lazy to createa backup

Might be related to the issue I'm having. Google Play Services have stopped working after a failed Play Store update this morning. Phone won't unlock properly with fingerprint, and is scrolling slowly. I'm in the US on Verizon. Updated on Friday and had been working fine until that corrupted update. G710vm20a

Someone please give advice, or help me fix it because i can't reset it... i have too much irreplaceable stuff on it.

Ok, I haven't had a problem, but I did a clean install of the leaked kdz from a few days ago. I had a fresh Google backup and sdcard, so I didn't loose anything.

Black screen of death

Upon every reboot I get the following error message:
Your device is unable to boot because either you have turned off the device incorrectly or tried to install an application from untrusted source... ... ...
It goes on to say press the UP VOL button to hard reset or any other button to continue.
I press any other button and it proceeds to boot correctly.
Any way to disable the message?
VZW TP2 - Stock 6.5 ROM
EDIT / UPDATE: If don't touch anything when it is on this screen it will eventually continue to boot normally... so again I would just like to disable this message if at all possible.
Anybody???
Or maybe an idea of where to look for log files so I can tell what specifically is causing it?
I've had the same message at least twice now. Almost had a heart attack the first time. Mine also rebooted fine after a minute or so. Not sure what caused this.
For me this happens everytime I reboot.
I did a hard reset and after installing and configuring everything, it is happening again.
It isn't affecting anything, just annoying.
Anybody?
Having this screen come up after every reboot is really annoying.
Surely somebody has had this happen before..
after you hard reset did you reinstall all your applications again... is that what you mean by configured it? If so it's likely one of your programs that's causing it. If you didn't install anything and it still pooched out like that then, well I'm stumped!
It started happening after I installed everything, but everything works on it.
There has to be some type of log file somewhere that will tell me what is causing it
You may just want to go and take the time to install a program and then see if it happens... when you get to the one that you know causes it.. uninstall it and see if the issue is still there. If not then carry on with installing all your other aps you have left doing the same thing to see if any of them cause the issue. It may take some time to do but it cant take along longer then waiting around for someone to chime in on some advice for you. Gotta do what you gotta do right?

First of all have you tried a Hard Reset? Perhaps some LG driver or software failed to install on a reboot and may be corrupted. If it is corrupted a simple reboot will not work. You must Hard Reset.
If that does not work:
Is it still under Warranty? I would take it back if I was you. If not take it to a shop to fix. Sorry but it is so.
I say this because you are not even rooted so the chances of being a hardware issue are much higher if the Hard Reset did not work. Perhaps a wire/connector got loose?
Good luck.

Will try..... thanks mate

Nothing's fixing the random reboots.. Don't know what to do anymore

Hey guys. Couple months ago I bought LG G3 second-hand and it had the issue of randomly rebooting. I tried rooting it and installing custom ROM but it didn't help. I then bought a new battery and it didn't help it either. I even un-rooted it and went back to the stock ROM but it didn't help it either. I then re-rooted it and installed the custom ROM again but it still didn't help.... What can I even do here? Would it point out to the problem if I somehow get the logs when it crashes? if so, how do I do it?
Any help is greatly appreciated..

if you tried everything including fresh install and new battery then it's just the phone.

I have to point out that reboots are much less frequent after reinstalling rom this time. I had like 10 restarts a day, and now it's 2 at max. They'll gradually get more frequent though, probably
Download OS Monitor or another app that will allow you to export logs. When it randomly shuts down, note the time, and check the logs when you get it back up.
Even if it's a hardware problem, you'll likely be able to see what is failing. You might be able to replace it without too much hassle, or even taking it to a repair shop.

Thanks for responding. Could you please tell me how to acquire the logs using the OS Monitor? I pressed "Export Logs" but don't know whers it saved them :/

"Compatibility Patch" LG G4

"Compatibility patch" update showed up in my notification area. When I clicked on it, it took me to the LG software update section and said that this file is needed to fix some issues with app compatibility.
After installing the program asks to reboot the phone. Once the notification is clicked on, the phone reboots.
Phone is not rooted. It seemed a little sketchy since there's really no other information anywhere else on the net. It seems a bunch of other people have got this but no real info.
Just wondering if anybody else has got this update.
Thanx.
I didn't get this "comp patch" as an individual update. Last week, I got the update with the security patches from July 1 (German G4, no branding), and it looks like that this patch was included. It now shows in the list of installed LG applications, where it didn't appear before. My wife (LG G3) got this patch as a single install (~1 week ago).
I have got this compatibility patch too, and in description of this app is 20160809 so it is 1 week old. But what was going about in that "fix"... :/
I've got the patch today too. But haven't rebooted yet.
U talking about this one? What is that supposed to do?
I have got this update and now it keep asking to reboot in notification bar. I have done restart many times but no luck.

If you have the encryption on then turn it off and reboot. That should resolve the issue and then you can turn it back on. Hope it works for you.

Hi Akarshad, I've got exactly the same issue. Installed, rebooted multiple times and the notification to reboot is still there telling me to reboot to finalise the install.
Problem with the Patch
I got the same patch on my LG V10. Thinking nothing of it I agreed to install and reboot. Once I had done so, I now have the Yellow Boot Warning at every boot. And also a bunch of my system apps stopped working. Camera, Phone, Music. I don't remember ever flashing a ROM that would trigger the warning seeing as how I got the update to 6.0.1 a few days before and hadn't done anything since. So I flashed back to stock with LGUP and the problems still persist. This is my first post ever, any advice. I apologize as I know this is a LGG4 thread.
If you did anything to the system image, you may have issues applying the OTA. @SixTheAmateur: did you modify in any way your V10? Did you flash a KDZ not officially available to your V10?

I've had massive compatibility issues with my g4 and apps I like to use. I noticed this today and definitely installed it. I have been able to use the apps I hadn't been able to use.
It seems to be going well so far. I'd say do it.
It seems to be frozen/disabled after installing, odd.

Compatibility Patch Mystery to T-Mobile and LG
I got a notice for a compatibility patch several weeks ago.
Rather than click I contacted LG, who knew nothing of it.
So I contacted T-Mobile, my carrier, and they knew nothing of it and suggested I don't down load it.
It popped up again today and I'm going to ignore it until I understand what it will do.
Good Luck!
Similar experience. I had issues with my phone afterward and had to get a new one.

OP3 phone is un-usable please help!

Hi everyone,
I have an issue with my wife's OP3 that is driving me nuts.
Her phone runs stock OS without any changes but with an unlocked bootloader (just to be on the safe side i like to have an unlocked bootloader on all our devices).
I'm not sure if its related but I'm including it anyways she was playing a game on her phone and then she received a call and she answered it and tried to switch the call to speakerphone and the phone started rebooting right after booting the OS after 2-5 sec i would say "factory data reset" (see attached screenshot) and would reboot to the recovery.
then i would boot the phone again and the issue repeats itself.
so i used fastboot boot twrp.img to boot a recovery image and run a nadroid backup to a USB OTG just in case the phone is really hosed or whatnot.
I downloaded stock zip from oneplus's site and flashed it again from TWRP just to make sure its not some funky issue that happened to the os.
I even factory reset the phone from stock recovery and the issue would happen on the new phone setup wizard.
after a bunch of fiddling around I've flashed LineageOS 16 nightly and the phone boots normally and is fully usable but when i try to make or receive a call the phone app freezes and then crashes also sound doesn't seem to work when i try to play videos from youtube for example.
Any ideas what is the issue and how i can resolve it ?
thanks a bunch !!

Take a backup of your personal files and then wipe system, data, internal storage and both caches. Then flash OOS 5.0.8 and without adding any apps, check the calling function. If it still happens, then most likely a hardware issue.

If it's a hardware problem which part should I replace?
I already ordered a battery before this issue started and I was planning on replacing it once it gets here maybe I can replace one of the parts in order to resolve this issue

Hmmm quite strange that you're having the same issue.
I didnt find a solution yet i gave her a temp replace phone that we had in a drawer somewhere.
Did your wife do anything out of the ordinary when it happened? are you having the same issue that LOS works but stock rom shows factory reset?
thanks.

No, She did not do anything out of the ordinary. But weirdly I have exactly the same things happening. Lineage works but no sound. Everything else factory resets. I have tried quite a few ROM'swithout any luck. So far the only ROM which worked for some time(1day) was 6.0.1 . I have spent quite a long time on this flashing various ROM and dont know what to do now.

Update: @ireaper4592 might have a point here. I have gone one level up and I tried msm v3.0 tool, thus doing a complete reinstall including firmware. The factory resetting stopped but the sound was not working (I thought that it could be the ROM and the security patches). So I updated to the latest ROM available from Oneplus and evrything has been working since. I did this last night so not sure how long this is going to stay like that. I will give it some time and update later. Wife is using it now!
what you will need to do is download the oneplus 3 recovery tool and put the phone into qualcolm mode and restore the phone that way. here is a link https://www.androidexplained.com/oneplus-3-unbrick-return-stock/

I cant believe it i was sure this was a hardware issue which ended up being a software one that the MSM tool fixed.
When I have a few minutes to spare i'll write a full post on how I ended up resolving it with step by step instructions and how I did it without any dataloss.
Thank you for all your help!
