Hi guys, thought I share a test Ive done and to ask if you can try too
I have a TPU screen protector on my phone and the fp scanner is mostly ok but do get times where i need to try more than once. So i did a test by adding a wet finger in the settings
What ive noticed is now the sensor seems a little quicker when i unlock my phone with the same, dry finger
If you get 5 mins, register a wet finger (make sure its well all the way through the register process) and see if it makes a difference to your unlocking speed.
It may just be me, so it would be good to get some other tests
Cheers
I'll try this, which screen protector do you have? I've been through 3, including the Whitestone one, all garbage
Why can't these protectors be as simple to put on like for iPhones...
Hi have the Otao brand.... easy install, no bubbles but wish they had a cutout for the camera

Does it have the gross rubbery feeling when sliding finger? I'm wishing I had left the stock one on as it was super smooth compared to all the 3rd party films I've tried

I installed a tempered glass and since I had to re-register my prints I tried it your way with a wet finger and it wouldn't register at all. It kept telling me to press harder but no matter how hard I pressed it didn't register. I cleaned off my finger and it worked ? not sure if its because of the tempered glass and not the preinstalled screen protector. My prints were working flawless before by the way but it didn't hurt to try something new and experiment

So, people are starting to report that the oleophopic screen coating is wearing off on the S9, and mine definitely is doing the same. The entire middle section (used the most) looks gray and disgusting even after a couple minutes of use.
How's everyone else's screens (without a protector) doing? Any specific cleaning methods that have worked for you? I used a spray specifically for screens, but that's obviously not working the best...
Don't use one, never have since the S5, just use a soft cloth / t-shirt to clean mine, Gorilla Glass means you don't have to worry too much about scratching it unless you're careless
I've never used a screen protector and also just use a soft cloth. I don't remember ever getting a scratch on a phone screen with Gorilla glass.

Wrong, NONE. I've pulled out a couple of old Moto phones and there aren't any scratches on them either. I checked a couple of my wife's old phones that she throws in her purse and none on those either. I've actually got an old Moto E with my golf GPS app on it that I keep in my golf bag and it has no scratches either.
What about the issue with finger smudges becoming more and more apparent over time? It looks like the area I use my phone most is cloudy because the first swipe you make, already starts making a mark. Anyone else have this issue? Maybe my glass is just defective.

Gotta admit, I've never seen anything like this! There has to be a gap of some sort between the screen and the protector, so I wonder how well the screen responds? I'm currently using the sandstone case from OnePlus along with the factory applied screen protector and both are working well for me so far. The price seems fair. So we need some guinea pigs. Looking forward to reading some first hand reviews.
this is a scam. I ordered from one of those ads on facebook. Its the same damn product advertised by different websites (allbort, bowbul, desoor). They are all in china. One on ebay is 7 bucks but these websites charge 21 bucks. I cancelled the order 4 hrs after putting it. Even though they say they will cancel the order if it has not shipped, they didnt cancel and sent me an email 2 days later that they can not cancel it because it has shipped. Then I think well, give me the shipping tracking info. Now they say there is a problem with the post-office. I tried to resolve it with paypal but there were of no help either.

I bought and used one of those two sided tempered glass magnetic screen protector for just short of four months. As soon as I got it I spent time looking for alternate cases but was surprised that I liked it better than my initial impression. At first I thought the back was more slippery than a fish just out of water but that wasn't true even when my hand was sweaty. Note that I'm a two handed phone user.
Every week or so specs of dirt would appear under the screen like with a tgsp that isn't full adhesive. I just opened the cover then use a piece of tape to remove the specs and it looked great again. Unfortunately the weekly clean eventually was the end of that case. Prying the top and bottom apart must have twisted the top as the tempered glass cracked. Within a day I saw a similar crack on the bottom half. So be very careful when you eventually need to remove specs of dirt.
One other draw back of this case is the lack of sensitivity at the very bottom of the screen. If you use Gestures then no matter how high you crank up screen sensitivity in the settings it is not good enough. My solution was to install FNG (Fluid Navigation Gestures) from the playstore. You can set it up for left or right side gestures and the case has enough sensitivity to work reliably.
Oddly enough even though I no longer use the case and have turned down screen sensitivity to normal plus have Android 10 installed (better gestures right in the OOS), I still use FNG. It has more features that I'm not prepared to give up.
Finger print scanner sensitivity was never an issue once I cranked up the settings and re-entered my finger prints.
the case i recieved bent when i was trying to unattach the magnets
These magnetic cases look beautiful until you drop it. It falls apart, is slippery and provides zero protection. I bought one for my previous s10+. Just fell apart and phone flew out and hit the floor. Beautiful dent near the top right edge of the phone.
Thanks everyone for the info. I guess it is not worth it!

I'm curious about FNG, I downloaded and got pro to see if it could replace xposed edge for me for full side navigation. It seems like it might, however I can't get the additional gestures of swipe up and down to work. I have them set as home and recents but nothing happens. Back works just fine, so does menu as backs secondary function. All permissions it asked me are enabled. Any help would be appreciated.
Sorry for being completely off topic.

I'd never used the up/down swipes but gave them a try and they both worked to start an app. At first the gesture was very unreliable. I adjusted the "Sensitivity" slide (in settings on the same page as you assign the swipe action), to half way and then the swipe was perfectly consistent. The sensitivity widened the swipe area farther into the screen. I think any phone case that is close to the screen border makes the swipe area more difficult to contact and be recognized by FNG.
Got the phone few days ago. Most of the time, fingerprint works on first or second attempts. But now and then it takes 4-5 attempts. and on two occasions i had to try 8-9 times to get it to work. Is it a problem only i am facing or its a common problem? i already updated phone after buying. should i get it replaced or it will be ok with next update
Thanks.
common problem i think. not as fast as the previous one on N9
Well, it is not widespread or "common", some users complain about this, but this issue has been discussed at lenght since the first days of this device, do a search, you will find some useful tips, My sensor is very fast and accurate, I think it depends on several factors, temp, moisture, the way you registered the fingers, screen protectors, etc
Also, register the same finger multiple times... I believe you can add 5 fingerprints....
I understand what you are talking about. I was so frustrated with the phone when I first got it. I deleted all my finger prints and then set them up again. Make sure to slowly follow the fingerprint instructions when adding. I added multiple fingers and some more than once. I have not had any issues since. I have also read some people say remove the factory screen protector. I still have mine on with no issues. Good luck!

did you have the same issue as mine? like u had to make several attempts and sometimes even 8-9 times to make it work?
only time I've had problems with mine is when my hands have been extremely dry, putting slight moisture on my finger can make it scan better, but for the most part it works perfect unless I'm somewhere hot and dry.
I have similar issues when I have a screen protector on the phone. Sometimes I have to press multiple times, sometimes I have to press harder. Finally going without anything on the screen and the sensor works like a charm.
Screen touch sensitivity.
On my Note 10+ 5G (SM-N976U) I have a setting on the Display page (scroll down near the bottom) that increases touch sensitivity specifically for use with screen protectors. The screen itself is Gorilla Glass 6, which is twice as strong as Gorilla Glass 5, so, if you are the careful sort, you can get by without a glass protector. Even with an extra curved glass protector, with touch sensitivity turned up, I can use light gloves & still the capacitance works fine.
Touch sensitivity has nothing to do with the fingerprint sensor.
Mine works perfect with screen protector. Sure if you put new screen peotector, it takes time to recognise finger. But when protector sits perfect than no prob at all.

the sensor works well as long as you don't have dry hands, lick your finger/thumb and it will work every time, sad but true. it's something I realise after it working flawlessly while drinking in a beer garden with condensed glasses but the rest of the time it was hit and miss. seems if your skin is too dry it doesn't read well, but add a bit moisture and it works perfectly. guess it has something to do with the technology in the new sensor using vibration instead of imaging.

Yes, lick your finger everytime you want it to work in the midst of a pandemic that seems to be spread by the virus getting transmitted from the hands to the face everytime you touch it...

The other advice I've found is to set up multiple finger prints with the same finger (you can usually set 5 fingerprints). This will improve the hit rate of the fingerprint sensor...

I'd really hate having to spend $50 dollars on a new Whitestone protector. I've seen some cheaper alternatives on Alibaba for the Note 10 and S10 series, but nothing for the S20 Ultra. Any alternative suggestions other than leave the default film protector for now?
So I used to use the Whitestone Dome on all my phones but I found out that assurion has a screen only replacement for phones, I paid a deductible of $35 for my S10+ and someone came to my house and fixed my phone. Since this day, I stopped buying screen protector
Note. I have no idea if the Ultra will have the same screen replacement program, I assume it does.
I have been using whitestone since the S8+.
Rarely do I get a perfect install, but today I got pretty close on my S10 ultra. Bubble free, some small specs of dust that you don't see unless on an all-white screen.
It was an easier install this time due to the curved edges being reduced to much less of a curve.

I just found out about the whitestone and this was my first time using one. I learned the hard way that a perfectly level surface is not a suggestion. So first install was an utter fail. I used the backup screen and it went ok, had to wait for like 5 minutes for the liquid to fully spread. i assume this was from the failed first attempt. Once it fully spread, i moved the screen around to get it perfectly placed so that i couldn't see any air pockets underneath the corners. then i used the UV light to cure it and everything looks great now.
To answer your question, the fingerprint reader has worked flawless for me. Since i immediately put on the protector, i didnt get to use the finger print reader much before. So its hard to compare, but there is minimal delay for me for it reading the finger print. Honestly 90% of the time the camera picks up my face and unlocks before i have the chance to use the finger print.

I had the same issues and since I never used a glass and yet alone a wet application screen protector I botched the first one. The adhesive didn't roll down the then little circle and I accidentally tilted it to the right. Everything went wrong. Cleaned it went for the 2nd one and I was super careful after letting the adhesive out. It was still a bit to the side but I was able to slightly tilt it and center the drop. Once I pulled the tab it spread as evenly as it could have but I had a slight air bubble on the top left. I waited about 2min but it wasn't moving so I applied slight pressure from right to left to spread it a bit and it ended up spreading evenly after.
Idk if I ****ed it up again but we will see if it holds. It feels and looks amazing and I'm glad to get rid of the oem film as that **** scratches by breathing on it.

My OEM protector had nicks and scratches out of the box...
Pretty much same scenario you described. Put mine on Tuesday night and no issues so far. I think we will be fine so long as you had no air bubbles before the curing.
I Noticed a tiny delay when using the screen protector. I did re-enroll my fingers, but it was slightly faster for me with the oem protector. (which offers only scratch protection)
Do you guys believe the S20 Series of device would be fine with non loca screenprotectors? those available for practically all other flat screen devices? since the screen isn't curved that extreme anymore.
Seems a tad faster than the Note 10+ with the Domeglass protector.
Something changed with these protectors over the last year. I used to get perfect installations every time. Last 4 had bubbles even though I follow the instructions to the letter. These will also crack VERY easily. Think this may be my last DG..

Hi everyone, I have a pixel 6 pro. Yesterday I fitted a screen protector liquid glass. I have problem now with a finger print scanner. Finger print scanner don't recognize finger print. Some one have this issue ?

I have no experience with the specific brand you used, all I can say is that I use a Moccolo UV Glass protector without any issues - I even had no need to activate higher screen sensitivity ....
This would be the first I'd try in your case - you find this under the display settings
If this still doesn't work at all I fear there must be something either wrong with the protector itself or with the installation (maybe some bubbles in the area of the FP reader)....
