IQ Shield Screen Protector

I installed an IQ Shield screen protector on my One yesterday. This is the first time I've used a protector that requires water as part of the application process. Just to be safe, I covered the speaker ports with tape. After following instructions on applying it, there were some minor bubbles (expected). After sitting overnight, they all magically disappeared! The instructions claimed this would happen.
Button function is not impaired, fit is precise, it is nearly impossible to detect that it is in place, and it feels slicker / nicer than the raw screen.
Definitely a happy customer.

I don't want to get a case for my One (I didn't for my Galaxy Nexus either) but I do want a good screen protector and I've not seen many people raving about any.
Any chance you can take some pics?

I could take a pic, but you won't see anything It is very clear and smooth.

I finally took it off. Because it is a soft style screen protector, fingernails would leave tracks. Looked annoying.

Screen Durability/Scratch Resistance

Hi all,
So I bought a OP3 used from some dude online. Phone was in great condition when I saw it. Only had a light scratch on the screen. Noticeable, but nothing to cry about. I did wonder what the guy could have done to it (and why he removed the screen protector) since it is GG4 and is supposed to be the newest of the new, but whatever. Well, a few days ago, I had to put the phone away in a locker and it was stored along with other phones. I did not notice until a day later, but it has a whole bunch of little scratches on the screen now. Just wanted to ask you all if anyone has had similar issues. My Nexus 6p has never gotten a scratch and I have always had it without a screen protector. I also am always careful with my devices. Never been dropped either.

Thanks but I kinda wanted real world experience. I have seen that video before. How am I supposed to know what strength a level 7 pick resembles. And even if I do my experience was glass on glass scratches which wouldnt make sense then.

I have noticed two little scratches on the screen just a few minutes ago, i ve used it at the beach during a vacation .. i m a bit disappointed for the screen resistance of this phone , i would ve never thought this was supposed to have scracthes so easely...

Ok first of all every phone with gorilla glass 4 will scratch identically. Tired of all this my phone is scratched my other phones never scratched in every XDA forum for a specific phone. EVERY PHONE WILL SCRATCH IN YOUR POCKET. Tiny particles of silica are inside the grit in your pockets which is much harder than glass and if you rub your phone in your pocket it will scratch, and this happens every day. Every phone I've had without a screen protector is eventually filled with micro scratches. My Galaxy S3, HTC M7, galaxy S4, LG G2, xperia Z2, galaxy S5, galaxy S6 all scratched slowly over time. Its normal, get a screen protector and you won't complain

Uhhmm.. It's not really a complaint. I am just wondering why they are soo noticeable. I am looking at my 6p right now on direct light and at my OP3. I treat them both the same, wear the same clothes (not every day), put them in the same pocket all the time and never put anything else in that pocket but the phone. Both phones are not using cases. I see no noticeable scratches (to me) on the 6p. The oneplus 3's are very noticeable. If you are tired of the posts, then go complain to the people that make the videos of them scratching the phones with picks that do not mimic real world usage. I just posted to read what others thought. I mean the phone is awesome and everything and scratches aren't gonna hurt performance but I was literally in awe because I have never scratched a phone as noticeable as the OP3 has gotten.

Sand will easily scratch any glass even gorilla glass, regardless of your phone.

I didn't like the screen protector that came with my OP3 because it muted the sharpness of the screen. I tried a couple tempered glass protectors off Amazon and they didn't adhere truly to 100% of the screen...so I threw both out. I was about to settle for another screen protector, however I decided I just liked the sharpness of the display with nothing on it, along with the natural oleophobic feel of the glass. I decided that since the phone was only 399 that I'd wing it and see how long I could get out of using it the way I truly enjoyed it before I detected the slightest of any flaw on the screen. It's been approx. two months now and I love using the display with no protection, and still don't have a single scratch. I regularly have the phone in my pocket, along with constantly transferring it between my car cradle and my house/office. I regularly clean the phone every evening....wipe down the back with a dab of alcohol on a tissue, and a dab of water to wipe down screen. Never use anything other than water on the screen because it will deteriorate the oleophobic coating. So far so good.

Then you're doing something wrong with the OP3. The pick test is a real world test. If 2 screens require a level 6 on the mobs scale then it will require something of that hardness or higher to scratch your screen. The OP3 and 6P have the same exact screen hardness, they will scratch exactly the same. You or someone probably moved your phone while it was flat on its screen and it went over some grit or something which scratched the screen. It happens and it sucks.

Yeah you are probably right. It sucks that it happened so quick though. What I don't like about the pick test is that they should at least show what they mean by level 6 or give a little more explanation. In any case, this was not being made to rant on the phone quality because it is a very well made phone for the price. It exceeded my expectations coming from previous OP devices. I am perfectly fine with the phone. I ordered a TG protector. Hopefully it can hide some of the scratches.

Yeah it sucks, my boss slid my 2 day old bare galaxy S6 on a smooth surface and the rear glass was scratched all around the sides.

[REVIEW] amFilm Ultra Glass Screen Protector

Hello all!
First time posting in a while, so forgive me if I'm a bit rusty. I just got my Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ yesterday, and my amFilm Ultra Glass Screen Protector today, so I thought I'd write up a little review. Sorry for no pics, but I was busy installing and trying to keep things dust-free
I've used Whitestone in the past but was disappointed with both my Note 8 and 9 installs, primarily because of the LOCA spiderwebbing on the edges. I figured I'd give another brand a shot, so I went searching here and found the amFilm Ultra Glass Screen Protector. A quick trip over to Amazon, and $40 later (for a full kit including *2* protectors) and here we are!
PACKAGING: The box is nice - wider and flatter than the WS product. It's clean and simple, but professional looking. Plus their website and install video are well done also. Inside the outer box are three smaller boxes. The largest contains the plastic frame, screen protectors, and wipes (I think). The medium size box contains the UV light and the MicroUSB cable. It appears to be identical to the WS product, but I don't know this for a fact, so take that for what it's worth. The smallest box contains the LOCA (2 tubes), extra absorption pads, plastic pin, tabs to place over the speaker, a bubble level, and a weight. Everything you need comes in this kit, including plenty of wet and dry wipes, microfiber cloths, and dust removal stickers. On the packaging is a QR code to go to the install video.
PRODUCT: Everything seems to be on the same quality scale as the WS product, with a few minor changes - 1) there is no LOCA applicator "bridge", you have to aim and dribble the solution by hand, 2) the pin is different - there's no more tilting the entire phone to move the liquid into position - the pin is angled and sets the glass down at an angle, and 3) the "fingerprint" weight (more on this later). Otherwise, if you've done the WS before, this isn't significantly different.
INSTALLATION: **REMINDER** REMOVE the factory plastic screen protector and clean your screen THOROUGHLY before proceeding! I ALMOST forgot, which would have been a disaster! I watched the video twice and didn't see any mention of this, so amFilm, here's a tip for you Anyway, installation is straightforward -put the little feet on the bottom of the phone to bring it flush with the pins inside, make sure the screen is 100% clean, install the sticker over the speaker, apply the liquid (making sure to absorb any "splatter" before proceeding!), peel the protective film off the glass, place it, and pull the pin. Once the liquid starts to spread, put the weight where the fingerprint sensor is and let it settle and "ooze" for 3-ish minutes. (NOTE - it's hard to locate the fingerprint scanner, so you might want to mark the frame in advance with a Sharpie (another tip for amFilm - marking that plastic with some kind of raised bumps or hash marks might be a good idea, or maybe a film for on top of the glass that marks where to place it - just a thought). After that, it's bake-time under the UV light, then you're done.
RESULTS: I'm very impressed so far. The glass appears to be nice and clear, and I can't even see the little "spots" in the corners others mentioned. I lucked out this time and no dust specs at all. No bubbles, etc. the fingerprint scanner appears to be working fine, although I haven't re-registered anything. It DOES require a little extra "umph" to scan, but that's not a big deal. Part of that could be me getting used to an in-screen scanner. There was minimal over-oozing, and the pre-installed pads absorbed everything fine. Barely needed a wipedown afterward.
FITMENT: There appears to be no flaws in placement using the guide, or in the fitment of the glass. It sits flat, and lines up exactly where it should. The cutout for the front-facing camera is exactly where it should be, and it's not overly-exaggerated in size. The edges leave plenty of room for putting the phone in a case (I've tried 4 so far, all fit without touching the glass edge, so there's no worry about case push on the glue). The bottom edge is just a tad bit short, maybe a 1/16", but that could be allowing for larger cases (I don't use the big bulky ones, so IDK).
OVERALL ASSESSMENT: 4.5/5 Stars - Great product, especially for the price. I'll keep you posted on long-term wear & quality, but for now, I'd say it's a great deal versus the competition.

I may go this route with amfilm as well. i bought the tech matte clear case, so i hope it fits well within it without popping off.

I applied mine the other day, and while I'm happy with the fit & finish, my fingerprint reader is spotty at best. In addition, my frame snapped, so I need to contact customer support to send me another one. because it snapped it ended up leaking LOCA all over the place, too.

Isn't that glue suppose to cure? When you say it snapped did it spill liquid after the snap?

The frame snapped during install, without me noticing. Because it wasn't holding everything in place very well, the glue ran EVERYWHERE. Under the phone, over the sides, etc.
So yes, once I got everything fixed as well as I could, the glue cured fine. But you don't cure it until you're basically done and ready to go.

If you turn sensitivity on, does that resolve the fingerprint issue?

No, sensitivity is already up. I’ll have to replace the protector soon anyways, we’ll see if another install will make things better.

The September update includes improved finger printer recognition.

Ok I decided to go ahead and buy the amfilm note 10 plus screen protector from Amazon. Watched their video and then another on Youtube like twice. I think I got the install right, the whole weight placing situation is a guesstimate, if they are reading this thread - put something on the tray to take the guessing out of the process, like a stick with a weight so it stays in one spot.
Also, the glue stick - be careful when lifting it to make sure no drop falls out - i didnt put the black cap back on - saw an extra few big drops fall on my desk - no biggie - but if it was on the screen would have been a hassle.
then the UV light shuts off at 45 seconds - their last instruction is to keep it lit for 60 seconds - they should probably adjust it - again not a big issue.
in terms of quality of the screen protector - looks good - its a thin piece of glass - hopefully it protects the screen. the fingerprint sensor - its been a hit/miss kind of. i added my same thumb print twice, sometimes it has to read directly in the middle of the thumb, othertimes i feel like i have to press harder. I didn't try the fingerprint sensor before the screen protector so don't know if its just the way it is.
I would rate this like 3.5 / 5 -- i think tempered glass is solid, the fingerprint sensor can be annoying, its not really that smooth like if you slightly put your finger/thumb on it that it will open. like literally it won't take it on first try, on second or third try it will take - that is the most annoying part about it.
the install process was decent, as long as you watch the videos first - its straight forward.
price wise its sucky - i wish they would sell this for $20 - even with just one screen protector. $40 is steep, replacement protectors they can probably price between $7 to $10 i feel.
By the way this is the same UV type device used to cure fingernail paint - lol - your household may already have one.
I don't have the Whitestone to compare to. But I can say man the Samsung film screen protector is solid, used it for few days, even when taking it off it was on perfectly. I kind of miss it but i think tempered glass will offer more protection on a fall.

I've installed two of these protectors on a note 10 + and a note 10. I did have the issue with the frame cracking with the note 10+ but the company has since fixed that issue.
I've used WDG for a few years now and this one has exceeded my expectations and is better than Whitestone.
The installation is simple and comes with a weighted cylinder that's used when you're curing the glass with the UV light. I've had zero issues with the finger scanner as well as my daughter on her note 10. I actually put the cylinder on while the glue was spreading. I can actually see a circle where the finger print scanner is at and I think this is a recipe for success. I've installed these just after release and they still look brand new. Scanner works great! I can provide forage if anyone is interested. The price is great for getting two in the box. I highly recommend!

"New" and perfect Note 10+ "refurb" - phone perfect but is there any way to test if the factory screen skin is installed?

I ost my Note 10+ a few days ago, a first for me. I immediately considered it found and stolen as I could see the person who found it via GPS, driving about the area where it fell off of my truck. So after two unanswered calls to said phone? I immediately wiped it and so at least my very minor personal data is secured. Whomever it as, *did* happen to get a very extensive, 40,000+ file .flac/.mp3 library on my spare SD Card but that's quite redundantly maintained/backed up so no real loss.
I immediately bought an exact replica of the lost Note 10+ from the same great seller as before, an ebay "excellent" condition refurb. The phone was here in 2 days then a quick visit to the local ATT store and I'm now back in business as usual, taking literally about 20 minutes to have the exact same phone/usage apps/settings and basically a Note 10+ set up precisely as my former phone had been. This is a relative topic with most users, myself included, as each of us may more or less appeciate any given app or feature ... but for me? Google sync and restore is a metaphorical Golden Unicorn(tm) lol.
But to my main question...
How can I determine if the Samsung default screen protector/film is installed on this new "refurb."
The screen on this unit is flawless, having no discernable marks or scratches, not even of the micro variety. But I have noticed that the thumbprint sensor is quite more responsive than my previous Note 10+ which definitely had the stock screen protector as, over the years, it had began to bubble ever so slightly and in certain places.
I've examined the edges of the new screen at great length under more than ample lighting and with very good magnification equipment and can find no visible "seam" or otherwise around the edges and where one would expect to find such a seam for any phone panel that had one of those super thin, super transparent protectors installed.
I will say that I found the stock Samsung protector on my first Note 10+ to be quite good, as good as any of the "tempered glass" varieties I'd used with previous phones though after two years of fairly rough use, there were small areas appearing where the Samsung factory screen film was beginning to show it's natural limitations.
So any ideas short of close examination with a good light source and high quality magnifying glasses would be welcome. If I do determine it is completely lacking in the inclusion of the factory installed panel film/protector (only reason I can imagine is if the previous user had removed it) then I will of course want to begin researching an appropriate 3rd party option that works well while maintaining solid use of the fingerprint sensor...
So any tips would be welcome...

The front cam hole will likely have a cut out in the screen protector if present. Slight seams are visible on one or more of the edges. Also the glass feels different than any plastic protector. Gorilla IQ Sheild is a good wet apply protector.

Most likely, Being a refurb with flawless screen, it probably had it's screen replaced and replacement screens don't ship with that Samsung factory screen protector on them. Most likely no screen protector in place

Checked all the obvious variables and there's def no protector on the screen.
I found tons of "IQ Shield" variants on Amazon but none specifically made by Gorilla, which is a brand I tend to trust. Any further info?
In the interim, I bought this uber cheap but very well reviewed cheapo. If it works half as good as the reviews seem to indicate then it should be fine.

Get a couple, just in case. Things must be as dust free as possible ie spotless on the glass and room where applied. Don't touch the glass or back surface of the protector. Use enough of the fluid to get it aligned spot then work the air bubbles out. Watch it to make sure it stays adhered to the curve portions of the screen.
Just press and briefly hold if it lifts up. Use a little of the fluid if needed. If it ever lifts up on the sides later as long as no dust or dirt get under it, it can be reattached with a little water and pressing it down.
Leave it set up for at least a couple hours before using if possible. Mind the edges don't lift, usually after 10 minutes that's no longer an issue. Any small micro bubbles will be absorb in a few days... not big air bubbles though.
The Zizo Bolt is an excellent case for it.
That's all I use, zero damage in almost 3 years.

Thanks for the detailed tips, friend. Much appreciated. But exactly what screen protector are you referring to? The originally mentioned "Q Shield" variant? Or the one I mentioned already ordering, which is the Apiker random find off of Amazon.
If you're referring to a specific brand/model of protector, be it of the "Q Shield" sort or otherwise? Please send me a link if your able to do so.
As it turns out? The randomly ordered Apiker kit I bought from Amazon based solely on user reviews alone, has turned out to be pretty okay. As with many such products, especially those for phones with curved edges, there really is value in going over some install videos and what not but the first application turned out pretty damn good.
The kit came with 4 of everything so for the money and the fact that 2nd and further applications would of course be more intuitive, makes it a decent value.
Also, the Apiker screen kit I bought is not tempered glass but some other sort of material but still has a decent feel overall. The main thing I like is the thumb sensor is still every bit as sensitive/responsive as it was when using the naked, glass screen.
But send me some info on the kit you were referring to that uses what you called "fluid" ... I'll get one of those too lol!
And yeah, mang. Note10+ FTW! Mine was stolen about a week ago .. only time I've ever lost it ... but it wasn't 20 minutes before I'd ordered a new "refurb" off Ebay which I'm currently using now.
I tend to always buy whatever the flagship Sammy was 3 or so years ago and always end up saving tons of money and being very happy with whatever that ends up being. I bought a 1 day temp new Galaxy A12 at the local ATT shop to use till the Note10+ replacement came in and the Note10+ processing speed is WAY better than the A12, which frankly was just a sluggish dog in comparison.

General Replace your screen protector if there's air beneath it!

Couple months ago air got between the inner screen protector and the screen along the crease like we've all seen before by other Fold 3 owners.
When I opened the Fold today I noticed a few dead pixels right in the middle of the inner screen. Closing and opening it again apparently killed the whole screen along the crease. The left side is still working, right side is completely dead.
I think the screen suffered a lot when opening the Fold. The screen protector probably moved a little bit every time I opened it and created some kind of pressure to the screen because of the air underneath. At least that's my explanation for it.
So if you've got air beneath your screen protector, replace it before your Fold ends like mine..

When mine started to peel out, I've just taken it out completely. I've assumed it's safer that way, so e.g. sand does not get between the protector and the screen.
It's ca month I'm using it without protector and all works great so far (also there are videos on YT saying that screen presents better without it, but nonetheless I would not remove it unless it peels out)

I read that you loose warranty if you remove it, that's why I didnt do it. Now that I have to send it in I don't want to risk Samsung rejecting it because I peeled it off, you know.
There's also no official store close to where I live where I could have replaced the screen protector.

Taking mine in on Monday as I started to get an air gap at the bottom of the hinge... Hope it holds out until then

I got mine in mint condition from Swappa and it had the inner screen protector with no issues but after about a month of heavy use it started coming up at the bottom in the crease so I just removed it because it was getting hair and pocket lint under it and making the screen look bad. So far months later I've had zero issues.
Considering I got this second hand, I never expected a warranty anyway so if anything were to happen I plan on either trading it in for something else or paying for a repair at a local shop or do it myself (I own my computer repair business and I could probably figure it out)

wow! same exact thing happened to mine! looks identical! Had to tell samsung it happened out of nowhere im waiting on the RMA to return now> Thank you i was using a skinomi and yup air under the screen. you saved me future headache my friend thanks!
