So, you all, I have this A3 2017 (A320FL) - and its a love/hate relationship, right?
Obviously the biggest flaw is that it only has 16GB of internal storage which you can't extend.
What is the best option to go about extending this through an sd-card (I've moved all the apps I can...) - without too much hassle?
Lineage? Root and LinkSD? I'm confused!
Thanks for any help!

Lineage can format sd as internal storage on my a5(I suppose it would be the same for you) I have never used link2sd, but I have use app2sd which works very good. You have to have root.
Hi, im using los 16 on a320fl.. this fw supports "adoptable storage" and it works fine. But u need really fast card to prevent app loading delay
Thanks! You are so friendly!
I'll try to back up everything and go for it. As for the sd-card, I think this is the fastest this one (no link, I don't have enough posts: amzn.to/2VydOmc ) is currently available, so I'll try it. On the other hand..its mostly insta, whatsapp and facebook ... probably the speed won't matter so much

Hi there,
I recently installed LinageOS to my Galaxy S4 (GTI-9505). Before I used the last stock ROM Samsung provided. Everything seems to run fine and until now I'm very pleased with the new OS on my smartphone.
But I have a question regarding the usage of a SD-card. The phone itself has 16 GB of internal memory. Additionally I have a 16 GB SD-card inserted. AFAIK there are two options on how to use the SD-card with LineageOS.
1. Use it as removable memory for photos, videos, etc.
2. Use it as expansion for the internal memory.
When I use it as figured in No. 1 am I still able to install apps on the SD-card? Just like with the stock rom where you explicitly had to move apps to the SD-card.
What happens when I'm using it as figured in No. 2? At the moment the card doesn't seem to be used that much as I have plenty of internal space. Won't it be used until the internal memory is full? What happens when the SD-card dies while it is used later on? Does that automatically brick my device so that I have to reinstall everything?
Are there any recommendations on that topic? Thank you.
Best regards
willy
Hi!
I used whole 32GB of the memory. I know one can get SD card (which I own btw.).
But some apps like Marvel Future Fight etc. install only on internal memory for some reason.
So is there a card/device/rom whatever that can expand INTERNAL memory?
Find a way to make Marshmallow run on this device, and you'll have adaptive storage, which is exactly that - uses external SD as internal memory.

As You can see, my version is 5.0.2 and its the only working, improved version for this LG with all the audio/camera/addons extensions.
But thanks, tell me more about this adaptive storage, for a future ya know. How to turn it on?
I'm kind of a lazy guy, so please, don't follow my example and read this

@ShadySquirrel
I did find a topic of Yours discussing creation of andoir 6.0 but as far I know no one succeed so far right? I'm doomed with 5.0.2 and 32GB
Or are there any bumbers for back expanding the internal storage hmm IPHONE GOT ITTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Mophie-Battery-Built-Storage-iPhone-Black/dp/B00IN2UYN0
THIS IS UNFAIR
You're doomed I got 6.0 booting, but couldn't make our jellybean aged RIL and modem to work (and it doesn't want to work with opensource RIL), so device got no phone signal, no gps and other stuff depending on RIL... Sometimes even 5.1.1 was a ***** to build - camera is still half-functional and people were having issues with bluetooth.
I'm continually getting out of space errors with my SM-T800, unable to update apps etc. Its rooted, running nougat OFW, with a 64gb sdxc class 1 card. But I can't get it to link apps to card, either through the official android method or 3rd party such as app2sd. I still love it for its screen resolution, never mind its good looks, and can't think of anything else on the market I would consider replacing it with. So can anyone point me in the direction of either a decent looking custom rom with integrated app linking, or an easy to follow guide to app linking which actually works?
What about using adoptable storage? I assume that more or less all custom roms support that.

Yeah Lineage OS 14.1 has an option to format / setup the microSD card for internal storage use or use as portable storage for music, photos etc.
Hey!
I managed to install Lineage 15.1 on my Samsung A320FL recently without bricking it (yay!) and so far everything kinda works. I gave up on installing GAPPS though (consider me spitefully sticking it to the G-Man instead of accepting defeat) and figured I'll try my luck without it - so far without major setbacks, but there is this this one problem:
I want to move Apps - or at least storage space for apps like Telegram - to my external SD card. I am willing to install third-party apps for that and give them root access, but so far AppMgr III told me straight up front it needs Google Play to function properly, and Link2SD gives me Failure [-6] when I try to move (I always thought negative Failure is a success, but that's just me I guess).
So before I try app after app, is there a tried and true one that works in Lineage 15.1 without GAPPS you'd recommend? Or is there even a function in Lineage 15.1 for that which I overlooked?
Or am I just an idiot and none of my friends dared to tell be up to this point?
Excited for answers, eager to learn.
Did you format SD as internal?

Nope. I figured I'd like it to stay external so I can use it in a card reader. Should I? My research so far pointed to "No", but I'm open to suggestions.
Is it possible (or, more precise, reasonable) to have both an internal and an external partition on a card?
Considering Link2SD: For a second I thought I was just an idiot for not giving it its own partition, but now it just gives me another error message (cannot locate symbol [gibberish] referenced by "/system/lib/libandroid.so"). There's still hope though.

Story of my life.
So now that I've been through the hard way, what would have been the easy way?

Use SD as portable. Regularly delete downloaded videos from social media. Config navigation, camera, music to use external SD. Use f-droid apps. They are smaller.

Now that you mention it, that DOES sound like the easy way . Especially since at my current rate I guess it takes ages for me to fill the internal memory just by messenger stuff...
Thanks for enduring yet another noob, should you ever find yourself in a certain German NERF Forum I am happy to return the favor^^
Hello all,
I recently installed LineageOS 16 on my MotoG5 and up to now I'm quite happy about it. But I'm foreseeing problems due to memory shortage anytime soon and I would like to prevent it by extending its memory with a SD card. I would like to ask some questions before deciding what to do.
Before this phone I had a LG Optimus L90 in which I installed a CyanogenMod ROM (I don't remember the version anymore). I remember I could move most of my apps to the SD card with a few touches. I thought it would be the same with LineageOS 16, but it doesn't seem so. Does anyone know why? Is that on purpose? I remember I had my L90 rooted, but I decided not to root my MotoG5, at least for now. Could it be a question of rooted/unrooted ?
I saw that I could either: a) use a SD card as a "internal storage"; or b) use some apps like "Link2SD", "Apps2SD" or "FolderMount". Which one would be the best? Do these apps require rooting my device? I read some pages relating that some people had problems with the "internal storage", but it was not clear it applied specifically to a MotoG5 with a LineageOS. I also don't remember this option in the old CyanogenMod...
Which SD card would you recommend? From what I read I should get a SD with fast transfer speeds to increase performance, but I was wondering if there is a hardware cap that would make useless having a SD card with very high transfer speed? I also imagine that the excessive read/write operations on the card would damage it sooner than in a normal use. I was thinking about a SanDisk Extreme 128GB or more. Would it be good enough?
Best,
