I've been experience a few issues with the new update. One of them, which is more a nuisance than anything, is my bluetooth connection to my car. It's a 2015 Mustang with MyFord Touch. The phone is a galaxy S8+. About 1/3 of the time when I start the car, the phone shows up named a bunch of random characters, instead of Galaxy S8+. Not a huge deal. My music player starts automatically (even if I close it, and kill the process). The thing that's weird is that the audio is kind of hollow sounding when it starts up UNTIL I turn on the phones display, then it kicks into a fuller sound. It's never done this before. Not only that, but it decides when it wants to display track information from Samsung music player only a small portion of the time.
If I'm playing music through Amazon Music, it updates the track information, no problem. If I switch to Samsung's music player, it just displays the last track I played on Amazon music, and never changes. If I start the car with the music player going, it won't update track information until it gets to the next song, and even that is spotty.
Aside from these issues, and the issues I'm having with the default browser, I think it's a pretty good update. But this music thing is really bugging me. For the record, I've tried rebooting the phone. I've tried changing through the AVRCP versions in the developer options, I've toggled Dolby Atmos on and off, changed the sample rate, channels, etc. Nothing seems to be affecting this problem.
On a side note, how do I close the music player so it doesn't automatically start playing when connected to bluetooth?
Thanks in advance. If this doesn't belong here, let me know.

Did you ever try to update your car's firmware or going to your dealer and ask for it? I think it's because Android 9 is "too new" for your car
I updated to the latest firmware about 6 months ago. No new updates since then. It would be kinda bogus if android 9 made a 4 year old car obsolete, but i suppose it's possible.

It could be possible that you have to expect for a new car firmware or ask to your device forum if anyone else have your same problem with android auto
Good call. I'll pop the question over to my mustang forum. Thanks.

Hello,
Just wonder if I am alone on this one. I noticed today that when I stream music on my note3 to my car while being connected to the moto that the must quality dropped. I use Google play all access paid feature. This has never happened before when I didn't have the watch synced.
Has anyone else heard of this? I am going to try to use spotify tonight and see if it was a Google server issues or my signal.
Thank you
Custom rom?
It's possible the music streaming is maxing out the bluetooth and the watch updating itself is just too much, but for a Note 3 it should be no sweat...
I havent noticed any problem like that... you sure your audio quality from the play music itself isnt lower?
same here, no problem..same situation, same quality
Does anyone know how to NOT have Google music on the watch? I took it away from notification on the wear app but it still happens. I don't want to see what is playing or skip to next track on the watch.. For this reason and i'm sure its killing battery lift if I go on a long trip if it updates after each song.
I haven't noticed any problems. Nexus 5, All Access, with my BT speaker and in my Mazda, it works same as before I had the watch.

I notice the audio from my car cuts out or stutters. This is when I have my watch connected to my phone too. I never had this issue prior to the watch.
I'm using a LG G2 running Optimus 1.3.2 rom
On the latest PA Beta 2 Rom on my Nexus 5 and no issues connecting to my HTC Stereo clip. Used with spotify, poweramp, n7 player and other players as well.
I'm having an issue with audio dropping out and being interfered with too. Oneplus One, Moto 360, Audi Bluetooth audio. Very frustrating. Sometimes I can hear the quality level of the music change when it drops out, almost like it's trying different bitrates or codecs to fix the issue.
Least I am not the only one, but mine never actually drops. But I can just tell the quality go down. Like going from 256kb to 128kb..This is even music that loaded on my phone, Not spotify or Pandora.
Are you using ART or Dalvik runtime? This was happening to me after switching to Dalvik. Switching back to Dalvik solved it.
I noticed the audio quality drop as well on my HTC One m7, stock rooted. I first noticed it dropped slightly after getting a bluetooth obd reader but it wasn't enough to really worry about. Then, after getting my moto 360, the quality dropped even more to the point I had to stop using bluetooth for streaming music and use an auxiliary cable instead. So, it seems it's just using up too much of whatever bluetooth bandwidth is available so the audio quality drops in order to compensate.
I have this problem to, using a LG G3 with ART, I have to disconnect the moto 360 from the phone to have a good audio.
No problems here with my Note 3 connected to my M360 and Ford Sync.
This is a question I keep checking on too. Seems like the common factor for people not having issues drive a Ford, using Ford Sync.
I drive a Toyota [emoji107]
I've switched roms on my Lg G2. Im currently running Liquid Smooth (with ART enableD) and have not had any issues. I am streaming from my Google Music and bluetooth is connected to watch and my car. Cutting out and stutters are gone.
So may be ROM specific?
Small update; connected to a a Pioneer AVH- 200BT and the watch with no issues.
I'm having the same problem. My Moto 360 is constantly connected to my stock Moto x (original). When I stream audio over bluetooth from my phone to my car radio, the phone and radio randomly lose their connection to each other. Sometimes they appear to be paired and my phone says that it's playing, but no audio is coming out of the radio, so I have to cycle the phone's bluetooth off & on again to get audio working again.
Edit: I just found a thread on Motorola's official forum for the 360. Matt, the forums manager, thinks that the bluetooth capacity of the phone is being overloaded.
No issues with my note 2 connected to watch and my Hyundai car audio
Sent from my SM-N910C using Tapatalk 2
After some more testing I still have the same issue, Works perfect with watch disconnected. There isn't some kind of widget or toggle that can discount/reconnect only the watch is there? without going to the wear app.
But I did find this, it has something with the music controls on the watch. I was uninstalling Spotify and reinstalling it. Before the watch was synced knowing I have the spotify app, I was able to use the app and play perfect audio. Of course this doesn't last long before the watch kicks in. After doing more re-search we CANT disable the controls on the watch no matter what. Least with the current version we are on, Hopefully that will change.
After receiving the new 4.4.W.2 update, I decided to move some songs from Google Play on my phone onto the watch for offline playing.
Here's how it went:
Downloaded an album with 12 tracks onto my phone
Took my watch off off the charger at 100% battery
Began to transfer music to the watch, took 25 an hour to move 12 songs. Only checked the screen maybe 5 times during the transfer
After the transfer was complete, I listened to about 5 min of music
Battery dropped from 100% to 70% in a span of half an hour......
Call me crazy, but this leaves a lot to be desired..

Since the new OTA lets you store music on the watch itself, go into settings and pair the watch with a bluetooth speaker or headphones. I have mine paired with the Moto Hint, when I have the hint in my ear and I play a song on the watch it will stream to the earpiece.
Call me crazy, but I think you are expecting too much from a device that isn't really intended to be a standalone media player.
Putting music on a smartwatch, or a Moto 360 to be specific, is kind of dumb to begin with imho.
Why? First, it's a watch.. Second, it has only 4GB of storage. Third, it has no speakers or audio output jacks. Fourth, ya, it's a watch.
Playing music from a smartphone and controlling via the M360 is more than sufficient and has almost no effect on battery other than regular operations.
My 2 cents.

Test it again taking out the transfer step. I would bet that is what is eating up battery not the actual playing of the music.
how to transfer song to watch?

That's your opinion, but... if excusing faults based on the fact that "it's just a watch"is sound reasoning, then you're completly abandoning the appeal and leaving many wondering why bother dropping $250 on "just a watch".
Aside from notifications, wasn't this feature one of the main selling points for the device? Personally, I looked forward to being able to leave my clunky phone at home while going on a run. It seems natural that a smartwatch should be able to set me free of cords and allow me to listen to music wirelessly. If the device battery struggles to handle that, I can't imagine how short the life would be if music and GPS ran at the same time.
This turned into a rant.. but I was hopeful that this update might bring purpose to the Moto 360. As it stands now, its a $250 watch that is less useful than my $75 g-shock anytime I move more than 25 ft. away from the smartphone it was meant free our addiction to.
I agree this would be a useful feature. I could see not bringing my phone to the gym and using my watch to listen to music.
I still think this watch is worth every penny I paid for without this feature. Hell, being able to change the watch face daily is a pretty cool feature by itself. Add in the ability to get notifications on a device that looks like a watch I'd wear with a suit, and it's worth the $250.

I never said it was "just" a watch. I was more implying that it's main purpose is not to be a media player specifically.
Being that Android Wear & Google Play Music just implemented this feature in the latest update, I don't believe this was a selling point at the time of M360's sale. Not to mention, the first implementation is most definitely not going to be optimized.
Is it a cool feature? Of course. Is it it useless? Of course not. But that is also dependent on the user.
Seems you just are not happy with the battery life and watch in general from your response.
even if you store music on your watch and leave your phone at home while going on a run or gym... don't u still have to carry a bluetooth speaker to hear the music..lol.. anyways.. resetted watch 4 times.. no luck here...ughhh..

Battery life is great, can last 30 odd hours so long as I only use the watch to check time a handful of times a day.
My post was to see if anyone else is experiencing such problems and if they had any real world uses similar and ways to save battery.
no one should be surprised that using the watch as a media player would kill the battery.
the best use for the media player on the watch is to be used while working out or running. because it will definitely need to be recharged after using it for an hour as a media player.
Is offline music only support google music? ? I still not.figure out how to.download local song to.watch, anyone can clairfy? Thanks.

if you go to the start menu on the watch and select the play music app, it will inform you there is no music stored on the watch and you need to change a setting on your phone to "download to android wear". go into play music on your phone and in the settings is where that option is. As soon as I checked it, the music i had downloaded to my phone started downloading to my watch. once it's done you can access the music from the play music app on your watch. the newest play music version is required i believe.

From the looks of it, it's only music you've purchased from the play store, or music you've uploaded to play music. local music residing on your phone won't transfer over. you'll definitely know it's happening, a notification appears on the watch that says how many songs are left remaining to download. as far as which songs you're getting, i'm still testing it, but it looks like it's going to be all songs you've downloaded to the phone, but i could be wrong about that.

Gotcha. Results are pretty sporadic from what I've gathered. There are too many variables right now, such as people using poorly optimized watch faces and/or apps. Possibly running older frimware/software, enabling/disabling ambient screen, brightness settings, etc.
Hard to get a baseline, but my results personally have been pretty great. I can't complain.
I use stock Moto watch faces, most specifically Retrograde (black background). Textra for SMS, it offers a lot of customization (vibration settings, color, etc), and is one of the most fluid in terms of replying via watch. Sometimes I use Mini Launcher, but it tends to drain battery a little more than usual and gets in the way a lot while swiping.
If you aren't using stock faces, then I recommend you stay away from third party watch faces until the Wear update with face customization becomes available.
Not just you. I listened through the watch for 30 minutes and it absolutely smoked my battery.
I wonder how the other watches hold up

Hi guys, here is the problem that for some reason popped just recently, started maybe 2 weeks ago or so. I'm using Jay bird blue buds x as my main wireless headphones with my tab s. Everything was working fine but now whenever I connect the headphones and either start listening to music, music player or Google play music, or listen to a video clip, be it from YouTube, gallery or Google play video, the headphones cut out after 30-60 seconds. Now I did test the headphones with other tablet, an Asus one, and with my audio setup I use with my pc and I can use them without any problems for hours at a time. Which kinda led me to a conclusion that it's not the headphones but the tab itself. Now my question is, did anyone experience something similar? Any chance it's a Bluetooth driver mixup of some sorts that came with most recent tab update? Any help would be appreciated. I'm running complete stock with the most recent update, with just a couple of apps "turned off" in application section.
Jaybirds work with stock and skyhigh kernel.

Well, my Samsung HS3000 Bluetooth headphones work w/o a problem, but I just encountered an issue with a bluetooth gamepad I bought. It started to lag every 30s - 2 minutes for like 10 seconds and than worked normally again. On the Nexus 7 of my girlfriend it worked for hours w/o a problem. I ended up factory resetting and updating to a newer firmware only to find out (just now) that one of my apps with accessibility access is responsible, probably Tasker or some of its modules / plugins.
Since your issue sounds a bit similar, you might want to investigate in that direction.

Hi folks,
New D851 running 20G stock (but rooted).
I paired it with my car (late model Toyota) and as soon as it connects every time I get in and start the car, it starts playing music. Something about LG Life is Good themes. They are in the default Music app.
I don't use my phone to play music, and had never opened the music app before this started. I use the paired audio for streaming apps (This American Life, in the current situation). Anyway, I manually stopped the music and got my TAL streaming. As I was driving along, I got a text message. The car read me the text message (my son found his homework, yea), then reconnected the audio player, and started playing the MUSIC again, not my This American Life.
It has done this repeatedly, even after a reboot.
My prior phone (running stock android 5.1.1) didn't have this problem... it would pick up in whatever app it left off, and wouldn't START playing something if nothing was running already.
How do I stop this aberrant behavior?
FWIW, I deleted all those stock LG songs and the problem "went away" but I'm sure if I put other music in there it will start up again with automatic play.
I haven't tweaked anything in the phone to cause this, and it's the stock ROM, so someone else has got to have seen it... Anybody?

What folder was the music in that you deleted? I have a major issue with bluetooth pairing with my 16 Honda Accord. Bluetooth has stopped occurs over and over when phone and car are trying to connect to eachother. Seems to connect then phone bluetooth drops. Only time it seems to work is when the music app starts automatically. That on happens once in a while, maybe twice in the week that I have had the car. It's really frustrating, but think it has something to do with the automatic start of music.

I believe the music I deleted was simply in the "music" folder ... it was the stock music LG puts there as part of the stock ROM. I don't store music on the phone; my Bluetooth pairing is for phone and streaming various radio shows, so I never put any music into that folder. I'm quite certain if I put my own music there, it would auto-play as well.
I usually leave Bluetooth on (on the phone) all the time, and when I turn on my 2015 Toyota, the phone and audio player (or whatever it's called) pair as soon as the car is finished booting up. (that sounds weird, describing a car as booting). If my car is in Bluetooth audio mode (instead of FM radio for example), nothing much happens now that I've deleted those song. I simply go into my streaming app, start it, and it works.
What I have found, is that that if I get a text while I'm driving and streaming something, if I press the button on the car dash to read the text to me (in the car's soothing feminine voice), after it's done reading it aloud, I have to mess with stuff to get the streaming to pick up again, which sort of defeats the purpose of "hands free." So I pull over, mess around, and get back on the road.
It's possible that the car's defaults are conflicting with the phone's defaults, in a way my prior phone/rom didn't trip over. I will try to sort it out, and report back here.
Would you be willing to start a thread over in the LG G3 main forum (not this T-Mobile one)? I hesitate to cross-post, but maybe a wider audience would help us. I doubt this is a T-mo specific problem.

Downgraded from lollipop to kit kat and bluetooth is no longer dropping. However I did have music start automatically playing as you posted here. I will follow the same steps you outlined to stop that from occurring.
i get it where if i've changed the battery(i use the free charger and extra battery) and get in the car, it'll play my ringtones i downloaded from zedge, unless i've started/paused the music before hand...one thing that's irritating to me is that it'll start track that was playing when i got out of the car over when i get back into the car...so if i'm making a bunch of little trips, i hear the same song, over and over and over and over again, unless i skip to the next track each time
I'm having issues with the playback on my N5X when using headphones w/ remote. Bluetooth seems to work without issue.
The problem is, randomly, and usually within a minute of starting audio and putting the screen to sleep, audio playback will stop. Once I unlock the phone, it looks as if the OS still thinks audio is playing. If I toggle the play/pause button, I can get it to restart audio, but it does not pick up at the point where I heard the audio stop -- as if it continued playing while "muted". This occurs in at least 2 separate apps, which is why i'm thinking it's either an Android bug or possible a HW issue.
Anyone seen this?

I've had a problem playing audio using Podcast Addict over bluetooth, but it's not similar to what you're describing. In my case, playback just pauses randomly for a second or two, then continues. This can happen after 1 minute of playback, or 20 minutes. I'm assuming at this point that my problem is with the app, android 6.0 is still very new and some apps may have problems (like camera apps flipping everything upside-down).
Exactly the same issues with my Nexus 5X... Deezer and Podcast Addict. Music starts but as soon as the display is turned off, approx. one minute later the sound stopps but when I turn the phone on again the player looks like still playing... Very annoying... Have you changed someting like the "lock when power button is pushed" option ore anything which is connected to the display?
Same here with Spotify... I find that I have to unplug and replug the headphones, hit pause, then play again. :/ Have you tried disabling Doze for your music player? It may have something to do with that, but I haven't experimented with it yet.

Yes I Had this problem. Mine did the exact same thing as yours. I rebooted the phone and it seemed to fix the problem. I can't tell if I would have had the problem again because I sent my phone back the next day for a replacement. My WiFi was terribly slow so they are sending me a new 5X.
I'm having the same problem when I use Google Music. I don't even have to turn the screen off. Did you have any luck figuring the problem out?

Yes, I did deselect "Power button instantly locks". I'll try putting it back to the default to see what happens. I know this has nothing to do with the "Smart Lock" state, because it happens even when I'm away from home.
Otherwise, I've found nothing that solves the issue. It's very annoying. The good thing is it probably only happens 10% of the time when I turn off the display with audio playing.
Yeah it's happening every single time I play music. Driving me crazy
Having the same problem. Seems to only happen when I'm doing something that would trigger the motion sensors. So when walking, all audio gets muted within a few seconds of me starting to walk, then stays muted. However, if I pause the audio, after 10 seconds I hear a pop (like the sound of a speaker turning off or something similar) and audio is available again. Exact same thing happens when I'm biking. If I'm stopped, music will continue until I start biking again, pause music, ten seconds later pop, resume. Everything is fine until I stop again, then repeat.
This isn't a problem when I take the subway, or a bus.
It's not just music that's muted though, all notification noises and alarms are also muted. The phone thinks the volumes are all where they're set, but won't play anything either over headphones, bluetooth or the speaker.
A reboot has not fixed my issue. System logs haven't revealed anything. Since this doesn't seem to be a super widespread problem, I'll be RMA'ing this one and hoping it doesn't happen on my next.
I'm not the only one
I have similar issues with mine, using podcast addict and YouTube with either wired headphones or wired aux jack.
What I find weird is that I am able to continue watching the video but without sound. I am unable to reliably replicate the problem but it always happens very quickly in the car using the wird aux input.
Sometimes the headphones will be fine for a long time while I'm sitting still and other times it will seem to stop even if I have no motion happening or have not touch the headphones.
Would be interested in trouble shooting this please advise.
Putting my phone away without turning off the screen seems to make this happen less. However, since this doesn't seem to be a super widespread problem, I've RMA'd my device. Not interested in starting out with a broken handset.
Been happening to me too - think since the MDB08L update. I just turned off Google Now 'Always On' and my podcast is playing fine (so far, lol). Not ideal because I do use OK Google, but continuous audio playback is way more important to me. Hopefully it'll be fixed soon. How can we report issues like this to Google?
Interesting. I use Nova Launcher and switched off Google Now 'Always On' in the phone settings, but left it enabled in Nova Settings 'Gestures and Inputs'. I can still say 'OK Google' on any screen and so far the audio is playing without stopping every minute or so.
Getting this too. Was out running earlier with headphones in, stopped playing randomly five or six times but found skipping track made it work again. At home, had it on loud speaker, got 5 seconds in but it froze, skipped track and got 3 seconds, skipped again and just got 1 second. Gave up after that..
But it works fine when connected to a bluetooth speaker or my car!

I tried this - switched off the "Always On" option. Went for a 40 min run tonight with music on through headphones and it didn't stop playing once.
Even now, got the phone playing through loudspeaker and it's having no problems!
Exact same issue here .
Audio playback stops but device still thinks its playing ie speaker icon on top bar. Sometimes stopping app and restarting helps other times no joy. I have also heard the short pop sound when it stops.
So far has happened in Youtube, google music and in some games. Also intermittent loss of text alert tones too.
Only sure fire way to reset is to restart phone.
I shall give the switching google now always on off trick see if this helps and report back (never use it anyway but still it shouldn't prevent audio)
Try a reboot

I did more searching online and found enough other people are having a similar to think that there's something going on with the software. One post on a nexus 5 X subreddit had talked to Google support and went through a process of a safe mode boot as well as a reboot. I have not tried a safe mode boot but a reboot has resulted in the best playback experience I have had since owning this phone. No interruptions in audio for the last several hours . I'm on Verizon and have not received any updates as far as I'm aware. I am hoping that this will last.
My phone updated yesterday... I'm not sure but I haven't run into this problem yet with the new update. It has only happen 3-4 times before the update but we'll see

After updating yesterday, I had it occur again this morning with video playback and the audio muting. So wouldn't be too hopeful, sadly...
