Assuming the rating is 1 - 10 im giving a 4.
I have come from a Pixel 2xl so i guess its a bit of a unfair comparison but mine definitely jitters and stutters at times.
Mainly on apps like Chrome, Twitter, YouTube Vanced, and sometimes even the settings menu.
-Exynos-
0 lags since i got the device. Not using ONE UI, only nova.

incredible, thanks
Yeah turn off digital wellbeing usage tracking and you'll see a major improvement
I also turned off digital wellbeing and its been butter since.
Side note: Ive also setup as a new device (not restoring from google, or samsung backups). More of a pain, but the battery life now too is unreal

How did you restore your photos and videos?
Google photos has all my photos and videos
the exynos version is being sold on my country , I’m a little concerned about the performance of the exynos version, specially the latency and smoothness
same, i use cloud ecosystem (google mostly) never did an backup or restore, always creates problems and being on a cloud system like google photos or google drive always keeps my locale storage free and lets you change rom or clean install really easy
Never had any issue with scrolling. Even on a custom app I'm developing.
One thing I have noticed is with Dex. I've been using DeX ALOT here lately and I have noticed if I dont exit DeX before unplugging phone I get lag and stutters really bad.. since i have exit DeX it's back to smoothness. I will add that there is no lag or stutter while in DeX it's really a decent experience...
Other than this I have had ZERO lag or stutters

This phone is the closest i have seen for smoothness to an iphone yet ( not perfect though). Compared to the Note 9 and S9+ it's quite a difference, they were jittery when scrolling.
Mine is an exynos version . Thing is its laggy most of the time . Sometimes I would scroll , but the webpage or something would barely move at all . Also faving lag with the keyboard as well . Turned of digital well-being but still some level of lag is occuring . Same goes for the notification panel pulldown . There are time when in an app I literally swipe like 4 or 5 times yet it does'nt come down . Some help here would really be appreciated
No lag experienced..
Coming from the Pixel 3 XL which is butter when it comes to System smoothness so I did see some small performance issues with the UI. Definitely notice some microstuttering when scrolling though System settings, seems to be it's worse when doing that. I just turned off wellbeing so hopefully it makes a difference!!
Great, thanks zjhao!

Is anyone else experiencing issues with UI performance? A large amount of the apps I use appear to suffer massive frame rate drops when scrolling and I don't understand it at all. Considering the power behind the phone it makes no sense to me and the only thing I can think of is lack of optimisation. The best example I can give is when there are images on screen it feels like the frame rate drops as scrolling isn't as smooth then when it's just text it's buttery smooth. It isn't just images causing it though so I don't know if it's the apps, the phone, the ROM or a combination.
It wouldn't be so bad if the battery life was stellar but that too is pretty bad. With the same use I sometimes get down to 50% in around 8 hours (very light use) then another day it'll be over 15 hours.
Do I have a possible dodgy phone or are these common issues? I'm stuck on an old ROM (carrier branding, yay!) with no updates showing.

Hi Mate im currently running the htc one x but havent come across some of the issues your mentioning. When you say the framerate drops is this more when looking at websites etc as the browser re-alligns the text to your screen. Im running mine on stock to at the moment with vodafone branding if that helps at all.
Heya. I'm running stock too (T-Mobile) and the frame rate thing is an odd one. It doesn't happen in all the apps I use but enough that I noticed it. I'll have to keep a list of the apps because I can't find one doing it right now. The best comparison I can make is with PC games where you have nice and smooth gameplay but then a lot of effects happen and if your graphics card isn't good enough the frame rate drops and you notice a slight stuttering effect.
Anyway, you say you haven't got it on stock Vodafone so it's possible / highly likely that it's apps not set to use hardware acceleration.
One other thing I've just been reminded of is photos. Occasionally when I look back at photos in a grid the bottom of them will have visual artifacts. I'm trying to attach a grid of my photos, some are more noticeable than others like the white chunk on one in the middle of the grid. It doesn't affect the actual photo but when I first saw it the first thing I thought of was my Desire HD with current camera hacks to run ICS. As it doesn't do anything to the image it isn't too serious but not a good thing to see.
The German site golem.de reviewed the 6p and the 5x and said both were throttling after about 15 Minutes of playing Riptide GP 2 on full graphics setting.
Can anyone confirm this for the 5x? That's a bit unexpected for me...

I think I do feel thermal throttling as I can't explain the occasional lag I'm experiencing on my N5X.
When the lag happens, it happens but when it's ok, everything is smooth and I can't reproduce the lag by using same app/same steps..etc
I've been wondering about this as well. I know the 808 doesn't suck as much power as the 810 but the thermals of the device don't seem that great: heat seems to build up in the area between fingerprint sensor and the camera and the corresponding area on the screen. The screen in particular gets really hot.
I've been playing Uprising and it does seem sluggish once the device gets toasty. The gameplay feels OK but I wonder if the game sucks a bunch of CPU in the menu/inventory screens because that part seems to slow way down.
At first I though it might be running out of RAM but my experiments indicatesit might be heat. Restarting the device didn't really improve things (after it got hot again in a few minutes) but putting the device in the freezer for a few minutes does seem to help quite a bit, I did not notice the lags while the device felt cool in my hand...
Not a huge deal for me (I don't game much on my phone and it doesn't get nearly as hot doing lighter tasks) but kind of disappointing if true and heavier gamers expecting no throttling from 808 may have been let down sadly.

Where do they show that? I'm not seeing any charts or anything that would indicate a throttle test with results. Maybe they just mention it in the text which would be strange to not have an accompanying chart to show their results.
However it's not really unexpected when the same could be said for 90% of devices.
I checked CPUz after about an hour of gaming (in this case Hearthstone) and the 2 high powered cores had been disabled leaving the work to the lower powered cores. However those were reaching their full clock speed (1.4Ghz) as was the GPU (600Mhz).
thermal throttling due to battery charging seems to be a big issue for me. Especially if I'm not using the stock charger. Basic browsing using Chrome becomes laggy and unresponsive, of the keyboard will be unusable. Thankfully the battery lasts a while and the issue goes away when I'm done charging.

No charts, it's described in the text on the second page of the review. They also have some benchmark values.
You might have to use Google translate...

Ah that's too bad. I guess I will wait for Anandtech or another site to do their performance consistency break down and comparison.
Hey everybody,
Long time Android user here as well as strictly nexus owner. My Nexus 6 took a a dump the other day and I need a phone pretty quickly. I don't have a ton to spend and I'm leaning towards the 5x. I know there were plenty of performance issues reported by a fair amount of people especially relating to the camera. I'm a ferret owner and I enjoy getting some great shots. My N6 was pathetic most times at getting anything decent (even with them sitting still). Will I regret this camera (speed, not quality) or is the performance improved post 6.0.1 update? Does the camera open up properly by double tapping the power button or does it freeze all the time like on my N6? Also, how bad is the loudspeaker? Have the updates for the 5x done as good of a job as they were supposed to in the lag/jank department?
Bonus: how is it on the N preview?
Thanks in advance guys. I always appreciate you all taking time out to help

I've had no performance issues with mine. I believe 2 of the 7 or so monthly OTA updates did address performance issues for those who were though.
My camera always launches with a double tap and it's quick and snappy. HDR+ pictures come out considerably quicker than my N5 though disabling HDR+ would still be recommended for moving subjects such as a fast critter.
I haven't had any issues with RAM personally but if you are the type of person that likes to load up lots of background services it's possible the 2GB of RAM could become a limitation.
For the $200 Google Fi deal there is nothing that can compete. At $400 there are options though the 5x still competes well with its top notch camera and screen quality.
Well that's good to hear. I don't download a ton of apps or anything like that. Lots of pictures, podcasts, and some surfing of the web. I just cant stand how bad my n6 handles getting a QUICK picture. It's literally 10 secs or more sometimes to load the app. It has not aged well compared to my n5

Yea, I first had mine full stock for a week. Battery lasted for about 3-4 hours of SoT with Data On; 4h with WiFi. Performance was impecable, really fast and snappy. Never had problems with camera like other people had. Yes it takes 2 seconds to do a HDR+ pic, but I cant see the difference between normal and HDR+, so I leave it off mostly so its really fast. Then, I rooted my phone as the Type C cable that I ordered arrived. ( You should order a USB C to USB-A converter, because it doesnt come with the phone, and that is the most stupidest thing ever). After the root, 8-12 h of SoT, buttery smooth performance with Interactive Governor tweaks on PureNexus with Phasma Kernel. So yea, it's freaking awesome so far.
The only con for me personally is that it gets really hot and really fast if the screen is on. If you skype, it's so hot sometimes that my fingers sweat, and If i put the screen on my ear, it almost stings. Resting it for a few seconds turns it back to 29C ,but yea. This phone is just so hot sometimes. Havent tried streaming, but youtube doesnt make it that hot, its arround 39 wich is normal. If you dont root, and your phone gets hotter than 44-46C, your big cpu core will throttle and you will feel an impact in performance(but that really rarely happens, only if you multitask like me)
Overall, 9/10 phone, worth the money. I switched from my broken M7, and did the right choice
Thank you very much. Really appreciate the feedback

Would you say that the Sony Xperia XA1 Ultra is "fast" in day-to-day use? A higher rating indicates that you think the Sony Xperia XA1 Ultra exhibits fantastic performance. Like, is it as fast as your tears when you watch The Titanic?
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
No so fast, normale user Experience.
Google maps and switching apps Sometimes lag.
Will be better with oreo? I dont think so
It's not what I'd call impressively fast, but not noticing anything too bad so far in my first week and a half of use. It's what I was expecting from the reviews I read, I knew this was no flagship chip I was getting.
Little bit of lag in some situations, takes a second to process a 23MP shot for example, stuff like google maps can lag a bit sometimes.
Overall, not disappointed with the performance considering the price I paid for it.
Its good
The system it self is decent
And anything else wich needs internet will be
depending on the internet speed
I at home have average wifi speed
But when I find high speed wifi at some places
Than browsing is really nice Experience
All in all very good and very satisfide
EDIT
Now after several times doing factory reset..
and few times letting it install all the google apps..
I must say...it is just a good speed.. not fast..but it is good enough..
Couse I have had some 4 core phones like the old nexus motorola wich
Installed my google apps in few minutes...this one takes some time to install
But
When installed the speed is good enough..
Other..
It will be depending on the internet for browseing..
All in All not something to think its bad or complain..but its not that fast
And thats what I am reporting..just some info..
Maybe someone needs the fastest..so this is not that..
Hope I have helped
UI is smooth.
I am not impressed by it's speed, neither its camera on both sides
having used the note 10+ for a day or so i can safely say that the performance is pretty bad, it feels sluggish and some demanding wallpaper apps actually lag
this app for example sometimes slow down to a crawl what feels like 5 fps https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.maxelus.motionlivewallpaper
it's corrected by going to settings and changing from 60 fps to 50 fps but then it slows down again, i know this wallpaper is demanding but this is not acceptable on a 1100 smartphone
Well, I have had issues with various live wallpapers in the past, I dont know why, but live wallpapers do not work equally across devices, more to it, sometimes some lwp work fine for a while, then stop working at all, I went to playstore to check this lwp, and there others complaining about an update that made the lwp worst, I think the problem is not exynos related

I agree im dissapointed it feels very sluggish to the point i am considering to sell asap..
Thats why snapdragon is a better option
Isn't the exynos chip not better then snapdragon? I read somewhere that the Exynos chip is a tad more powerful then then snapdragon although barely noticeable
I have no issues with exynos.
Mine is fine.
Mines fine too, compared to my S10+ battery life is a good improvement, speed is similar
