returning phone back to google - Google Pixel 2 XL Questions & Answers

Morning all yesterday I received my phone but having issues with the camera when I take a picture I'm getting red pixels on screen and picture so Google have asked for me to return the device for a replacement. I purchased this yesterday brand new still sealed so don't want to be getting a refurbished unit back or do Google send brand new?

I have returned one pixel 2 XL because of a faulty usb-c port and one Pixel 2 because it just killed itself when factory resetting, in both cases I got new sealed products from google. I'm from germany fyi.

They may send you a refurbished phone. I had to chat with customer support to make sure I got a brand new replacement.

Uh Oh protection?

I was wondering if anyone here has used the uh oh protection?
If so, how long did it take to receive your phone?
I'm currently having problems with HTC
Called them up almost 2 weeks ago, I chose that credit card hold option, and I have yet to receive any info
I called them up today and they said they don't have any phones in stock to ship out
3 weeks ago I used uh oh, had to send mine in, 2 days to ship mine, overnighted it back. The second one took 3 weeks just to get it going, they have some in stock now, shipped today overnight.
Hey I've been going through the exact same thing. I opted for the credit card hold last monday and they finally emailed me today with the tracking details.
Got mine today. Totally new device, box, charger. Hopefully I don't find any defects

With what?
Mine came in as well and it doesn't look refurbished it seems new to me. The box was sealed, the phone was wrapped in the original plastic and the cable and charger are brand new.
I was able to trade my broken HTC10 for a brand new sealed one overnight with a credit card hold. So your phone will be as good as new within 48 hours. HTC really impressed me with their service in my experience, while the screen was a disappointment for not being storing enough.

My first experience went smoothly. The 2nd time was a total headache.
Why is the Uh Oh protection service only available in the US? Or has it been extended to the UK?

Where to Buy Nexus 5X - USA

Is there anywhere that has the Nexus 5X in stock in the USA? I can't find one anywhere! I know Google discontinued them. I seen them cheap on Amazon a while back but missed my chance. I'm only interested in a Brand New, Sealed, H790. I can find H791 but those are international. (GSM Only)

I forgot about Swappa. I ended up pulling a new in box sealed Nexus 5X 32GB Carbon Black for $280 on eBay. I think that was a pretty decent price. I remember seeing them for $240 when they were being discontinued but not sure if they were 32gb or 16gb.
I sold my Moto Nexus 6 for $300 so it works out. It was flawless, replaced the Mid Frame, Battery, and Rear Cover with OEM replacements before I sold it. ($30 in parts)

Lets hope you dont end up with a Nexus 5X that has the bootloop issue. May want to call LG when you get the device and double check the build #/IMEI to make sure.

I didn't come across the Bootloop issues info until after I purchased it! I was scared to update it to 7.1.1. I did though, I have had zero issues so far! Everything is working great. The person I bought it from said that their original had the Bootloop issue and Google replaced it for them. That is the one they sold me. They listed it the day they received it, box was definitely sealed! I would hope that Google sent them an "updated" replacement. The phone was shipped to them from Google less than a two weeks ago.

I just got my board on the phone replaced by LG. So far, its working fine and I'm back on current version of PureNexus Rom 7.1.1
If your phone has been refurbished, you should be fine, but there is no guarantee. I'm only telling you my experience and opinion with my phone.
Good luck and enjoy!

If mine was refurbished, they definitely used a brand new housing and display. It was factory sealed in the box. The build date said 10/15, but there was a new sticker covering the old one. Hard to explain.

Google Return Service, how was your experience?

My screen just flashes and won't turn on, so I called and got approved for a replacement, but they said the overall return time is between 10-14 days
Has anyone had to get a replacement from Google yet? If so, How was your experience with the whole process?
Currently working on getting a replacement from them. They're saying the same thing. Otherwise, customer support has been responsive. Though they are going to send a refurbished one instead of brand new even though I have to return mine due to a manufacturer defect :/
I got my replacement in 2 days. I just had to return mine within 14 days
Got a replacement for my wife's pixel. Talked to Google on Thursday evening had the phone Tuesday afternoon. Overall good experience.

Did you receive a new one ? Some list they received a new one in box with all accessories, then many others list bad experiences having to wait 4 weeks after they receive their phone and sending the refurbished replacement using smartpost or the slowest cheapest ship method.
i received mine in 2 days, brand new
Same here, I need to return it to Google, said my speaker crackles at high volume. So they bought it, now k have to turn this phone in, and most likely getting a refurbished one. Hope it works!

An advice on buying Pixel XL

Hey,
I would like to get some advices before I purchase a Pixel XL
what would be a better choice if I am not willing to buy a brand new Pixel XL
a used one from swappa (mint condition)
a refurbished phone from ebay (it was refurbished by a company approved by the manufacturer), with only 30-days seller warranty..
the price is almost the same for both phones.
the only thing that would worry me with the refurbished is if the screen was the reason for the refurb, then maybe they did not install an Original replacement ? could this happen?
what would you advice me to do?
Not sure if there are panels by other manufacturers, I think they are all literally the same. So if a screen was replaced, it was replaced by the same quality part that was in to begin with.
Personally, I'd go swappa, I use swappa constantly and I think there is a 60 day return thing with them (can't remember)
I bought mine from Swappa and it was such an easy buying experience.
I would just go through eBay either way you're going to be good.
There was a sale previously from Google Store.

I think before or after Pixel 2 released, there would be another round of sale, if you are not in hurry to purchase.

Get Swappa you could find a good deal a lot of times the sellers throw in accessories. but I would tell you if you could wait for a few months you should for Pixel 2.
I have sold on SWAPPA and have not had any issues. I have not bought anything as of yet. I do like EBay as well and have sold and bought from there.
Just look at the persons feedback. I would try SWAPPA before Ebay.
Get one on swappa that's mint and not a refurbished one

Where to buy unlocked bootloader Pixel 2 XL phone

I have Verizon and want to buy a Pixel 2 XL with an unlocked bootloader, refurbished or new. I know I can purchase a new one from the Google store but the price is still $799 for the 128 Gb model. On Ebay they are under $500 now but getting an unlocked bootloader is near impossible because most are Verizon phones. Does anyone know specifically where you can buy one besides the Google store?
Look on swappa for a Google edition Pixel 2 xl. Good prices and they verify the imei to make sure your not buying stolen stuff.

Second vote for Swappa. I've bought 4 phones from there over the years with good experiences.
Great, thanks for the suggestion! I'll check Swappa out.

I got a Pixel 2 Xl 128 GB for $430. It has a small scuff on the bottom corner that's hardly noticeable. This thing is heads and tails better than my S7 Edge.
My unit was purchased directly from Google play store, still in warranty.
I looking to upgrade to a 3 xl... Pm me maybe we can work somethjng out
Black 64gb unlocked play store version.

I would go through Swappa and try and sell your phone there. It was a good experience for me. I bought one and don't need another one, but thanks anyway.
Swappa even states if it's a Google Edition or a Verizon
I recently ordered a pixel 2 unlocked that was a refurbished unit (yesterday) and then i read here on xda on the how to root pixel 2 Nathan chance's thread that explains how to root, a user states that he received 4 returhished units and all had encrypted bootloader's. His original device did not. Google pretty much told him tough luck. Then I read a few write ups on Reditt and on Google help site about the same thing. The refurbs have the switch and you can flip it on, however when you key in the fastboot command to unlock bootloader it fails. I canceled my order akd swappa got upset so I hooked me up with the links and told them to sticky that ****!! Seriously pissed me off!!
