How to get the 4.4 kernel ? - Lenovo ZUK Z2 (Plus) Questions & Answers

I wanted to install the Pyxis OS ROM which needs kernel 4.4 and I read that you need to install ZUI 2.5 / 3.5 to get the kernel. I installed 3.5 two times and for nothing, when I try to install the Pyxis ROM I get a bluescreen. I flashed a baseband which I found on the forum for the ROMs with 4.4 kernel but it also didn't work. Could someone tell me the steps to install properly the ZUI so I can get the kernel ? I installed the ZUI ROM with TWRP because with QFIL I can't select any port to install and I couldn't figure it out how to resolve it.

Like I said, I can't use qfil because it doesn't see any port when I try to flash, so can I flash zui 1.9 through twrp?

Have you installed all the required drivers and minimal fastboot and ADB?
If you have then uninstall all drivers.. re- install .. then go to developer section and revoke all permission for usb debugging.. connect phone .. select mtp .. open minimal fastboot and check if device is recognised.. then go to fastboot mode.. once device in fastboot open qfil . Device SHLD be visible there

I have minimal fastboot, ADB and the drivers for the phone but I can't install the Qualcomm drivers for some reasons, I tried many times and nothing. I guess that's why I don't see any ports in qfil.

Try installing in this sequence.. uninstall all related drivers.. minimal fastboot.. zuk drivers etc . If you are on windows then disable signature verification and antivirus.. then install the Qualcomm drivers first. Check kuber Sharma guide in guides section.. then install zuk driver and then minimal fastboot and ADB.. u can also use all in one toolbox to status check for all..

Where do I get this update.zip?
After bricking my phone, I'm finally on ZUI_3.1.117_ST_171110_qpst. Can I simply flash this update.zip to be able to do OTA updates?
Thank you!

If you have not unlocked bootloader then check for system updates.. you should automatically updated to zui 4.0 step by step

I unlocked the bootloader before installing this rom via qpst, nonetheless I cannot update: "Your system has been root, we are unable to provide the latest version of the system"

Update.zip is official OTA update.. it won't work in unlocked bootloader.. if you want to update to zui 4.0 flash 3.5 qpst and OTA update to 4.0

Currently it's my daily driver so I don't want to risk bricking the phone. How would I go about doing this?

well when you flashed custom Rom you risked it..
any ways. reboot your device in fastboot mode. if you want to flash MM then flash latest MM bootloader, boot, recovery, fastboot, ifwi. if want to flash LP then LP bootloader.
then reboot to recovery mode factory reset and sideload the firmware for which you flashed bootloader..
you haven't mentioned your device model number.

Needing help with QFIL

Hi, I need help about relock bootloader and restoring stock rom with QFIL, basically I need to go back to full stock to enable VoLTE.
I read in many threads to flash a version prior to the ZUI 3.5 with QFIL and next to flash the 3.5 version with QFIL, why?
Why I need to flash a previous version than 3.5 QFIL? Can I flash directly the 3.5 QFIL file?
Thank you.

Here I see a 3.5 QFIL(QPST) and in the instructions is written to flash 2.5 previous, why?
If you did this already, have you flashed 2.5 first?

Oh, now I undestrand, so in my case I just need to install 2.5 and next re-unlock and flash a TWRP (I guess).
Many thanks
For going back to stock, following is what I do.
1. Flashing that vendor to factory ZIP for becoming non treble in case I am running AEX or such treble ROM.
2. Flashing 1.9 Chinese ROM first via QFIL
3. Flashing latest Indian (2.5) or Chinese (3.5) via QFIL.
Works for me.
Gives me locked bootloader, stock recovery and ROM. Basically back to bone stock phone.

Yes, you're right, to lock bootloader the 1.9 rom must be flashed first.
And next if you don't want to use QFIL you can install an OTA package directly from phone.

Can a global rom with twrp and rooted be updated thru ota?

I've unlocked bootloader of my chinese redmi note 5 pro and flashed a global rom on it then updated to global v9.6.3.0, after that I installed twrp thru adb and root with magisk. Now, will I be able to update this to a new global version thru ota?
No. You can not

Is there a workaround to do so?
You can comeback to recovery stock or download update file to storage , boot to twrp then flash update zip. After update , masgik will not work

So the official update zip will work on twrp? I thought it's not possible on a custom recovery. Anyway I'll try that, thanks.
Work fine. But if you flash full rom , not update pack, all data will be earse , mi recovery comeback.

How can i flash twrp again?

I had unlocked the bootloader and then, flashed global stable, but unfortunately, the mtp (and by the way, fastboot and adb access from a pc) was somehow disabled, and to complete the disgrace package, i have just the original mi recovery. I'm currently at the lastest global stable rom, 10.2, without any hope. What can i do?

is your problem solved? Because I'm also facing this same issue and i have tried almost everything which i could.
I'm on MIUI latest version and I'm trying to downgrade miui verision to 10.2 through OTA updates in order to fix it but it's showing downgrading is not allowed and I'm completely stucked.
Plz if anyone know to solv this out kindly let me know.
As issue says MTP not working i also can't flash TWRP recovery from fastboot and since i'm on stock rom, my phone can't be rooted and i can't edit build.prop file to enable mtp.
Thanks.

Lol win10 is a bad joke... use usb2.0 hub or search for reg fix on xda forum. Or use win7 or linux.
And there is few versions of fastboot.

you can update it via update center. Go to check for updates in setting and tap to the MIUI logo 3 times. After that click 3 dots on right top select custom update package.

Oh sorry for misunderstanding. Download fastboot rom, extract it, and flash recovery.img via platform-tools(command to flash "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img"). I dont know if it will brick ur device or not. Best thing I can say try to flash fastboot rom with Mi Flash Tool(make sure select the clean all option(not the clean all and lock)).
