So I have a galaxy ace 2 for a year and I've been playing around with it. It's running TW 2.3.6 which for me is the smoothest OS for it imo. Year ago I flashed 4.1.2 and was annoyed by the heavy lag and unusability of that FW. Is there a 4.1.2 TW build that isn't laggy or a kernel that makes it usable?
EDIT: I used A2N kernel. Works nice!

Just got my S3 last week. Already rooted it and LTE seems to work for me in Boston. Got that latest ROM pushed in. Now I am lusting after JellyBean. There is just so much choice out there. I just want to make sure I retain LTE and TouchWiz. Rest I am openminded about.
The only tw rom that is jellybean is the ported rom from leak of T-Mobile here is the link

[ROM][LEAK] Stock TouchWiz JellyBean (T999UVDLI7 Leak Port) - 09/15/2012 (NEW BASE)
This is tw jellybean but there r bugs in there and not stable u can search that thread and see. That would be the closet to a stable jellybean touch wiz rom. Another way is to do Aosp or cm10 and get a theme from the play store that mimicks touchwiz. For LTE u need to look at the thread I posted and see for cm10 and AOSP.

I'm actually running that leak now its not too bad in terms of stability. They worked out most of the issues with it.

If you don't want TW, Paranoid Android worked really well for me. I can't speak for it's LTE performance, as I live basically in the middle of the desert.

Hi community!
Im looking for a blazing fast rom...ive tried xBlack, Aokp, paranoid android, cm10...(4.1.2!)
And im wondering if it pays to upgrade to 4.2+. I dont need the new gimmicks ( lockscreen widgets and so on) but i want a faaaaaast and battery friendly rom for daily use. Theme chooser is necessary if theres no dark version available.
Can you recommend anything?
I tried cataclysm a few weeks ago and Rasbeanjelly...but they didnt really convince me.
Is 4.2 in general slower than 4.1.2?

In general 4.2 stutters less, but on the 1st touch 4.1 is smoother, if you're looking for custom ROMs, go for the 4.1 based ROMs because the 4.2s are really unbalanced in terms of smoothness

Stock 4.1.2, rooted with faux123 kernel has been good to me
try cm10.1 unofficial ones, personally i would always go for the newest one 4.2.1
I use MMuzzy's 4.2.1 and have no complaints. MODs are available from kmame for the look, there's a nice quick reply stand alone you can bolt on if you want it like me. As close to stock as you'd like or as far from it... I get 15 hours with full bore push email and about a day and a half with pull every 20 minutes....
Let me know if you have any questions.
Factory ROM 2.2
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus
for a general user like myself what are users opinions on performance an battery on a custom 4.2.1 toro rom vs the 4.1.1 factory image?(im kinda tired of flashing stuff!im turning into a crackflasher lol jus wana hear sum views on the topic)thinking of going stock rooted wit maybee jus a kernel?
I've been using muzzy's 4.2 rom for quite some time. His ROM is very close to stock and gets very nice battery life... best I've gotten since I left stock ICS a year ago. It may just be subjective but I think 4.2 is quicker and smoother than 4.1 also. My 2 cents.
Just got my Note 2 last night Awesome device, a bit bigger than my old international One X running CM10, but getting used to size. I rooted it out of the box, man it was the easiest quickest root ever for me. Just installed a stock ROM and simple ICS blue theme to start off, and try out the S-Pen and Touchwiz features. So far so good, running on Straight Talk ATT sim, very fast, great service today so far. .
I have been on stock AOSP Android for years, Nexus-One, Nexus-S, Galaxy Nexus, One X running CM10. I did have the Galaxy S II running a good stock Touchwiz ROM and heavily ICS theme which I liked a lot.
Curious what are you running ? Stock Touchwiz based ROM, or AOSP CM10.1 ROM ? I love AOSP, but are any of the CM10 based ROM's for the Note II good enough as a daily ROM with little bugs ? But AOSP ROM's on the Note II get rid of all the S-Pen features and note writing ? I mean the S-Pen is a big deal on the Note phones, would suck to lose all those features, but then again AOSP is awesome if a good stable and quality ROM.
Of the AOSP ROM's which one for our Note II is the most stable, and offer custom DPI and cool features above and beyond just stock nightly CM10.1 ? And of the stock Touchwiz ROM's which is your favorite, with cool themes and dark apps ? So many to chose from
I am using Nova launcher, and makes the phone look more stock, with cool features, and the 6 x 6 grid fits the Note perfectly. I am shocked actually with Nova on a stock rom, it does feel act very much like stock AOSP.
Thank you
When im still on note 1, i keep changing rom in between aosp or tw custom rom. Aosp or cm rom give my note 1 lag free and smooth experienced. But im personally will get boring after 1 or 2 days with those rom. That was because those aosp make my note 1 just similar to other bigger screen devices. Without tw or spen features i cant see any special of my note 1. Since im personally using a lot of photo editing for my daily job.
When came to note 2. Im totally never consider any other type of rom beside Tw based rom. Even note2 still using A9 chips. But with quadcore+2gb ram strong hardware spec, now a days all tw based rom available are just running smooth and responsive as other type of rom.
Therefore, im personally will comment that, i bought note 2 not only the bigger screen. The main point drive me to bought note 2 is about the features and the great utilities of spen on snote.
Without spen features, it just a normal large screen devices. I dont see the point why i would buy note 2 if i would go other type of rom beside tw based rom.
Indeed, everyone have their own choice and taste and nothing wrong at all. Maybe some of them just like the bigger screen only and prefer the pure android experienced. But all this depend on different person of choices. Nothing to argue.
I has tried so many snote replacement app on my note 1. But at the the moment, still no single app able to come close to origin snote.

I'm thinking of going back to the s4 from a note 2 because the upgrade just isn't worth the battery life. The only thing that's making me hold unto the s4 is the stock android development especially since the google edition is coming out! The CM nightlies have just been released last week and the progress is amazing! Only on the 8th build and it's already usable day to day with no noticeable difference in performance!
How is the development for the note 2 going? Are the CM, AOKP roms working as good as a nexus now? Last time I flashed it was extremely buggy and downright unusable.

I used CM for a bit and liked it - aosp 4.2.2 is beautiful. The battery life was a bit of a killer (4 hours screen on average, 3-5 depending on usage) and it didn't seem to have bugs as such but was occasionally though a bit glitchy - lag that you don't get in stock (or stock based roms) was present. I flashed back about a month ago to Omega and happy with the at the moment. I really want an aosp rom with the great 6hours+ battery life I can get on stock, but it isn't there yet
Just as I thought lol that's the point of loading stock android if it's gonna have shorter battery life.
The s4 is amazing on cm10.1 and battery life is much improved over stock Samsung. I guess the note 2 will always be behind when it comes to that.
