How to gracefully get off DP2

Hi all,
I'm currently on DP2 of 7.1.1 and I'd like to root my phone and install elementalX and possibly custom ROMS.
Once I am in a standard configuration I'm comfortable rooting and such, but I am unsure if I need to get off DP2 before doing so, and if I do need to get off DP2, I am not sure how to. I've seen reports that you cannot update to the release due to the older build date of the release than DP2... Odd but okay.
So my question to you fine folks is:
Do I need to get off DP2 before proceeding, and if so what should I flash to get off DP2?
Thanks!
I unenrolled in the beta program which pushed me back to 7.0, then flashed OTA to 7.1.1, unlocked bootloader, then flashed TWRC, then SuperSu, then kernel manager. Now I am done and happy

I did the same.
Voluntarily withdrew from the OTA program here.
Flashing is quite simple. Just take it slowly

Flashed Pie to Official pie

About a month ago I flashed the leaked beta version of Android pie to my Verizon Galaxy S8+. Now that the official version is rolling out, can I just simply check for an update on my phone or do I need to flash back to Verizon firmware? Thanks in advance.
If you're still on the leaked beta pie version, then checking for updates won't work. You gotta flash an earlier firmware that's bootloader 5, either CSB1 or CSA4. You can get it from sammobile. I think you also have to factory reset your device after downgrading or it will be stuck in a bootloop, then check for updates manually from your device and update to official pie.

OTA update with Magisk

I downgraded my phone to Android 8 with the July 2018 security patch. I rooted it with Magisk (v18.1 and Magisk Manager v7.1.1) and I still get OTA updates. Previously, on Android 9, when I had Magisk installed it showed that the installation has failed, but apparently now it has downloaded successfully and I have the option to restart it so the update can be applied. Should I go for it or will I end up in bootloop or something like this?

Ota update will come but won't intall, you should look at https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-a2-lite/how-to/guide-install-magisk-proper-support-ota-t3836952
But my advice: un-root your phone and upgrade firmware and root again, this is the most safe way. If you do guide's way your device can get bootloop.

The weird thing was that even though my device was rooted the OTA was downloaded and it just asked for a restart to apply it. I managed to get the OTA done eventually by un-rooting the phone and applying the update as you said, thanks a lot!

Need some help - Phone only boots to TWRP after uninstalling Magisk

Looked around and saw that I need to flash stock image/rom, but I don't know how to check what version my OS/rom/firmware is (I never updated it, and bought it in 2018 december).
I can guess but if there's a way to check (or fix it), I would appreciate it alot.

Root / Magisk broke after update to 23.0 (or 22.x, forgot) - How to fix root?
I forgot my magisk version before the update that broke my Mi A2 Lite (it was on bootloop but got fixed, just not the root which stayed broken). The bootloop was fixed by flashing Magisk via TWRP (the old version I got before updates which I...

Separate thread since I got it able to boot, but would appreciate if you can help with fixing root/removing it (as it was broken by magisk update).
Model Name: M1805D1SG
Model: Mi A2 Lite
Android Security Patch level: August 5, 2018
Android Version: 8.1.0
Baseband Version: 953_GEN_PACK-1.152683.0.158868.2
Build Number: OPM1.171019.019.V9.6.6.0.ODLMIFF
To remove any magisk without issues, you should flash fastboot boot.img extracted from the same fastboot rom version, as example yours *.tgz is here and *.img files in images folder.

Question MOTO E 2020 Won't Update When unrooted

My phone is currently running QPGS30.82-141-13. I rooted my phone using Magisk. I just recently got a notification for the ....141-15 update, so I flashed the original boot file to unroot my phone. I downloaded the new firmware boot.img file anticipating patching it with Magisk once my phone is updated. The only problem is when the update gets to 22% it crashes and never completes the update. My question is after I unroot my phone to update is there something else I need to to do get a successful update? Thanks.
