A few months ago a page was opened up for XDA members to request their bootloader unlock codes. IIRC it indicated the codes would be sent to either email or XDA inbox within a few weeks. I'm just wondering if anyone every ended up getting theirs this way?
I did not get any code.

There were reports of some receiving codes towards the end of the original thread (below). The thread has since been closed, and I have seen nothing other than some random threads about folks trying to get unlock codes from oversees service centers. I remember one person getting the code that way LOL. I ended up using Ministry of Solutions and got two codes for 30 euro each. Nothing shady about the code retrieval method (no connection to the device or software used). I simply submitted the IMEI and S/N in a PayPal form that popped up as part of the PayPal order/payment and got the codes later on that day a few months back. there are a few others who provide the codes the same way as MOS who according to their site is getting the codes slowly currently.

Hey guys,
today I got my desire. this morning, 10 am. at 10.01 am, I went on www.htccode.com and I paid for the code.
this guy is registered in this forum as "ferraripassion"
the site says that I should receive an email asking my HTC desire IMEI code, but I didn't get anything
11 hours passed, but I still didn't get any email asking me any serial number or code
is this website reliable?
I've unlocked a hero and desire through them and they were pretty good with me to be fair. I would use them again even though it was pricey to unlock the desire
If they don't work out for you, you may want to check out:
www.cellunlock.net (Use coupon code crackb50 for 50% off). I've used them twice to unlock Desires and both times they have responded with a couple of hours.
I used thefonecenter01 from eBay sent them my IME they said yes can be done. Paid for unlock code got it instantly via email and unlocked phone. 5 mins in total. I would recommend 100%

Have you tried the live chat thing on the website mate?
I called him (IN INDIA!!!) and he said that he would send me the code in 1 hour (when it was 15:00 GMT+1 time)
after 1 hour, he did send me an email, but stating that I should add 15$ as my desire is too new and need another database. I paid, and now I'm still waiting..
finally it arrived
35$ but the desire is so good that it was worth it
htccode is ok sit .. i use it every week
Good morning .
I write to explain that on site HTCCODE.com when you buy for a code to unlock your htc you need to :
Select your model from "Unlock HTC Now" page.
Enter the IMEI (Dial *#06# to get the IMEI), enter this IMEI carefully in the HTC tool and click on Submit. This tool will point you to the correct purchase ie HTC Old, HTC New or HTC Super New records.
You can pay using Paypal or Moneybookers(Ideal,Bank Account etc.)
Once the transaction is complete, download the HTC CODE software.
A few antivirus might falsely detect this as a Trojan or a virus, please do not worry it is just that the program is packed with execryptor(to reduce the size and prevent it from being cracked) , you can add this program to the exception list or disable the antivirus for a few minutes.
In the software enter the paypal email address and transaction id and then click on Create Account button.
A login id and password will be emailed to you.
Enter the login id and password in the HTC CODE/TotalGSM client and enter the IMEI in the IMEI box and click on service 1 for $20 option and service 2 for $35 option and then click on send.
After a few minutes click on get, your code will be displayed in the software.
Now enter a non accepted sim card into the phone (other than the one it is locked to) and turn on the phone.
You will be asked to enter SIM Network unlock pin, enter the code that the software displayed.
Your Phone is unlocked in a few minutes
We don't need unlock codes on the desire. There is a free utility in this forum that we can use to unlock it ourselves

Some searching would have saved you those 35$

Do not pay $$$ to unlock your desire!
As mentioned elsewhere, you no longer need to pay anyone to unlock your desire, there is a thread on how to do it here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=943726
Please dont pay others to do what you can do for yourself for free... Theres plenty of people on here that will help if needed...

Oops! Didn't see that before posting
Note: This is a discounted service We at Brightstar Electronics do not offer any free codes
Our hours of operation is 9am to 7pm EST. Any request that are made after we have closed will be noted and an Email will be sent when we open to request permission to proceed. We will not proceed until there is a confirmation.
Hey guys I'm offering a new network unlock service in my area and felt I should share it with my Xda-developers community. considering the research I've made of other unlock companies I consider myself one of the cheapest. Please know that all codes are based on the individual IMEI number and that each brand has its own price. Our codes are always updated and individually bought from the manufacturing company. The codes will come with a video showing how to enter the codes.
Please be advised that some codes depending on the make and model of the phone might take up to 24 hours. These phones are usually older models so if you just bought your phone no worries, your code will usually be sent within 1-15 minutes if there is any delay I will notify you.
Again this is a service usually offered to my area so I have no website at the moment to directly go to. I will be making one once the demand grows and my company becomes more known for this service.
email me with your make and model, COUNTRY (really important), carrier, and IMEI.
The IMEI number is usually found on the back under the battery. For some phones you can find it in the network information portion of your settings.
[email protected]
Thanks for your support of my new business because this site is where it all began. Thanks xda-developers for all your hard work I hope to return the hard work.
Please be advised that I won't post any codes on this site due to confusion that that code my work for everyone which it won't. Each code is based on the phones IMEI number.

I read for about 2 hours on how to unlock this thing. Many said to call Att, some said to log in and live-chat, some say to use a 3rd party service. I called Att USA and got the run around 3 times. I don't have an ATT account so I couldnt log in....I tried the auto chat service and it gave me a number for ATT International. I called and within 60 seconds the gentleman gave me the code over the phone, no questions asked sans the IMEI code.
Here was the number I used......1-800-335-4685
I am not hard core developer, I am just a regular guy who reads before he asks. I hope this helps someone out.

your the man or woman that number rocks i had to go through two reps but i got my unlock code thanks for the info
not sure if you found this information or not, but for others wanting to know... only speak with the International Reps!!!
whether it be via phone or chat, this department is the only department that can give you the unlock code.
do not ask in-store about, do not call customer service. go straight to the source.
my story: after 14 days of being a brand new AT&T customer, i logged in and chatted with an International Rep, no questions asked about why i wanted an unlock, he just gave me the unlock code upon request. first try.
chat rep gave me mine within 4 minutes. said I had to put another sim into the slot and type in the unlock code.
Is there a way to do this without a different sim?
Wife and I are planning a trip to france and wanted to unlock to have phone service over there.
Looking for steps on how to do it without another similar as well. Also full steps, my rep was less than helpful in that department. I got the code, but other than that nothing else useful from them.

I was not able to find another way to do it. On the international version, one of the *# codes on the dialer works, but not on our's. However, I was able to unlock it by going to a T-Mobile store and asking them really nicely whether I could borrow one of their sims for two minutes so I could unlock my phone. They agreed with no issue, and my phone is now unlocked.
Just called and they told me they can only unlock phones that are from USA AT&T customers only.

Only the original carrier can unlock the phones.. it's the specific carrier that has the unlock code..
Try calling Rogers and telling them you're going to Europe.. I've got my unlock code for one of my old phones doing that
No, you can be rooted. You need a different carriers Sim and when you insert that and power on the phone it will ask you for the code. Input code, it will finish powering up and then give it a minute or two and Voila!

That's not entirely true. There are pay services such as cellunlocker.net that can unlock your phone in minutes. I just tried to unlock my old S2 through AT&T to get more selling it and the AT&T rep said my device wasn't "eligible" for an unlock code. Then, immediately went to cellunlocker and got an unlock code in about five minutes online and didn't have to deal with any idiot AT&T reps. Cost me $25 but it was worth it in that my phone sold in about 15 minutes and I didn't have time to deal with AT&T's bs.
Wish I knew about the number posted in the OP, I would've tried that and maybe saved some money.
Also got mine through chat no questions asked and noe she is unlocked. BOOM!
I have a t-mobile galaxy note 2 which i want unlocked.
I went to cellunlocker.net and bought a unlock code for 25$ within the hour I was sent an e-mail with the codes etc.
It isn't working, I tried all their methods, troubleshooting, etc..nothing.
Every time i punch something in it say "unable to process request"
I e-mailed them back but no word yet, anyone have an idea?
Thanks.
Try this might work....

Could have something to do with the new law. First check what version your on, it can be really simple to unlock it if your on an older version of firmware or you can just call t mobile and get the free unlock code
Does anyone know where/how I can get my phone sim unlocked? I tried CellUnlocker and another service, both of which failed to unlock my phone from Telus and my friends phone from Bell.
Edit: Have they blocked retrieval of unlock codes for this phone?

Did you join just to troll people who plan on keeping their Note 7?
"It's not safe at all"...
Actually it's very safe. Far safer than driving your car to work in the morning. Safer than even taking the bus.
Though I guess the internet says it will tun into a small-yield thermonuclear device if you don't return it....
I tried getting an unlock code from Samsung a good month ago and said they will provide me with one within 4-5 business days.
They completely disregarded my request now. I doubt you'll get one since Samsung wants you to return it
laugh Im still waiting for samsung to give me a call and let me know what to do with a second hand bought note 7. Not that I care what they say, im keeping it but since they have wrote all my info down and told me would call me within 2-4 days it has not happened. Been over 2 weeks now. So much for them to care.
As for the OP, sorry no help from me as i've got mine unlocked.

Try:
http://www.imei-unlocker.com/samsung-galaxy-note-7-unlock
The Samsung Galaxy Note 7 in not banned by any means anywhere. There is only a voluntary manufacturer recall and people are NOT obligated to return it. Don't be fool by those iSheep that come in here telling you to return it.
I've used this service and it works 100% They do take 2 or 3 days to send you the unlock codes.
Good Luck! ?

DON'T use cellunlocker.net. It took them about 4 days to come up with a code that didn't work. After being forced to upload several videos of me trying the unlock code and proving that my phone wasn't rooted or running a custom ROM, they still refused to issue a refund claiming my phone was modified. It's been 17 days and they still can't come up with a working code. Avoid them like the plague!
Its almost impossible to an unlock code. The reason i say almost incase their is another way (through imei etc)
I spend 45 days trying most unlock companies, boxes etc. Nothing worked. I had a guy searching every place possible for me for 12 days could not find an unlock code in any database.
The easiest way is to use the service provider the phone is locked to. Another way to go to Note7alliance and to see if possible to change imei, with that you may be able to unlock the phone as well.
I know this is an old thread an old thread but this is for someone new in case they stumble on this thread
