Storage decryption - Honor 7X Questions & Answers

Has anyone managed to decrypt their internal storage. If it's possible, how do you do it (I think that you can do it by wiping on TWRP, but I was wondering if there were any alternatives)?

There's a certain TWRP that I'm using that has decryption working. As soon as I boot into TWRP, it asks me to input my password (or PIN, if that's the security you use for unlocking your phone) and it decrypts data and internal storage. I can't find the link at the moment but I'll share it as soon as I find it.
If I'm not mistaken, it's supposed to be for the P10 but works for our phone.

Here it is! You can use the most recent one (0.4). It only works on stock EMUI though, or that's what it says. I haven't tried to flash any custom ROMs yet.

Thanks! I'll test it out and report back when I'm on stock (which I'll probably get around to doing after a week or so).

You can try this, If you want to completely remove encryption!
All credit goes to @Mickey387 , this is his link for the Mate 9
https://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-9/how-to/guide-how-to-decrypt-data-mate-9-hi3660-t3834748
Give him Thanks!
Read his guide but use my files. All I did was edit his files with our fstab file without encryption. Plus use a TWRP for our device. I provided one that's suppose to work good for backups. It's by askuccio at this link also.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/ma...--other-development/tool-twrp-hi6250-t3860663
FYI, I haven't actually tested this. I just made these files on the fly. Anyone feel free to check them out.
** Unzip TWRP file, it's compressed to upload or get it from source provided above!!

No OS, just TWRP v2.2

I accidently deleted my back-up and now I'm left with TWRP 2.2 and everytime I try to install a tom it fails halfway through. So I looked and most say ignore and wipe Dalvik cache, so I do. Reboot, then it just boots to TWRP.
Kindle Fire Utility will not detect my Fire either.
I'm at a loss, please help.. :\
In twrp go to mount and then mount the drive. Then download a rom from the development section and transfer it to your kindle. Then flash the rom.

I followed your instructions explicitly and they were to no avail, as they relinquished the same results in my latter post.
I've been inactive here over the last month, but from what I've seen the over last couple of days, it seems there's a new version of TWRP (2.2.0? am I seeing this correctly?) that is causing problems. Try an earlier version.

I had first tried 2.0 then updated to 2.2.
Thanks
Then I would say, since you know you can restore from a backup, try requesting one (minus personal data of course) from someone and see if you can restore from it.
It's very strange some of the things going on lately. I'd hate to think Amazon's hardware has something to do with it, although, I wouldn't put it past them.

Any idea where I'd look for a back-up?
The idea has merit, I just googled it and nothing came up.
maybe you'd volunteer to send me a back up?
Thanks

I was thinking more direct upload but since your not here that's kinda difficult lol yea restoring a borrowed backup is probably your best bet once you have a working system replacing twrp would probably be a good idea I have a simple solution for that that really doesn't require much just placing a folder on your SD card and using file browser to run a script... but I really can tell you whether this will remedy your problem if it still exists it could be more than meets the eye..
Maybe your just doing it wrong.
1. Factory reset
2. Wipe cache
3. Wipe dalvik
4. Wipe system
5. Flash rom zip (in zip form)
6. Flash gapps zip (in zip form)
7. Reboot then system if prompted....
If your doing all this and it fails make sure you have zip signature verification and md5 verification unchecked, still failing sounds like a twrp problem..
Also twrp should be throwing you some errors would be nice to know what they are?

Install a newer version of TWRP (2.1.1 or greater). Reboot to system does not work properly in earlier versions. Otherwise, use "adb shell idme bootmode 4000" to set the bootmode to normal manually. If you are unfamiliar with adb/fastboot, read this guide...

The third post has explanations of adb/fastboot commands and how to use them, but the entire guide will probably be useful to you.

No matter what I do, I cannot get my computer to recognize my Kindle. In device manager it says it is there with a yellow triangle, so I click update it doesn't work, I check my Android SDK downloader and it says I have the drivers downloaded so I manually searched for them in the extras folder in the sdk folder, still no go. I get an error. I am now at ends I have no idea what to do, and it is very aggravating to say the least.
Thanks for your help guys!
Instead of letting it boot by itself manually select normal boot in the boot menu if that doesn't work rewipe restore the backup again this time skip the dalvik and cache wipe after the restore...
My computer can't find my kindle fire and it's mounted on twrp
make sure there are no checks in the boxes of system and data then hit the big button that says mount..... the only things that should have checks in them are sdcard and cache...

TWRP System Image Backup Error

Hello all!
This is my first time posting in the G4 thread, but not my first time playing with Android. I'm normally quite adept at stuff like this, but to make sure I don't goof up my pretty new phone, I want to ask-
When I attempt to back up my System Image in TWRP (which is something new to me entirely- I've never even seen the option to back up a system image) I keep getting this error:
dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p47 of='/external_sd/TWRP/BACKUPS/LG815[numbers]/[Date]//system_image.emmc.win' bs=4194304 count=1035 process ended with ERROR: 1
I would like to try OctOS and CM13, just to see how they perform on the G4, but don't really want to unless I KNOW I can get back through a Nandroid backup.
Any ideas or opinions? Does backup of the system image even matter?
Thanks so much! Thumbs up to whoever answers my questions.
I had the same error. (ERROR: 1)
And I also ask - how much is it important to backup the system image?
I don't have custom rom, though, just root access...

2. Tell which twrp version you are using!
3. Provide the recovery log! You find instructions in the twrp thread

Did you perform a factory reset in recovery before flashing the rom? If not to that. When you switched from stock to custom rom did you wipe your inernal storage. If not do that aswell
Is your device decrypted or encrypted?

Well, maybe use TWRP and try format data? Not mean wipe data, wipe a internal storage. Or try fix via twrp aswell.

Okay, formatted to ext4 then back to f2fs and now it's working thank you guys :good:

Will I be able to restore it via TWRP afterwards?

Good work!!
You guys ready for custom ROMs?
This is my WAS-LX3 Running my Pure AOSP for HI6250 Devices! Installation is a bit tricky but I'll fix that up soon!
Great work!
Just tested it on my P10 lite(was-lx1c432), and it works.
Thanks for your work. I haven't tried it yet. I'm waiting for your custom Rom.
With Devcheck system info (search in playstore) I saw that my device is compatible.
Hi, I flashed it on my WAS-LX1C432 but it freezes at the screen where it asks about allowing modifications to the system partition. The build from the other thread works though, apart from decryption.

Stock decryption not working here either
I have not found any easy way to get back to stock...
When i tried to flash the zip with the other TWRP build, i got error 7 : This build is for Washington, not for Warsaw.
So, i flashed the img with fastboot and it works.
Also after allowing modifications at first boot of TWRP, i don't get that msg anymore.
With the other build i had to allow it everytime i booted TWRP.
I have WAS-LX1AC432

The ROM is pretty good. I'm just concerned about ppl being able to go back to stock. Because the ROM is not a daily driver yet..,
Rear cam video capture not working.
Little laggies happen during ui animation.

Any Other Testers?
If there is anyone else who is confident they can get back to stock via the 'dload' method and would like to test AOSP for the P10 Lite, pm me.
Worked for me. I needed to do a full wipe in TWRP first. ( i wiped data too, dunno if it was needed)
Flashed open gapps 7.1 pico.
There is no browser or file manager included in the rom.
So after setting up playstore, download a file manager if you need to access your ext sdcard.
Flashed supersu in twrp and have root too.

Restored my apps and data with titanium Backup.
Working fine.
Maybe create a new topic for this ROM?
I made a TWRP backup. Selected everything except /cache.
With 3 button dload method i was able to go back to stock rom.
Unlocked bootloader again, flashed TWRP and then tried to restore the backup.
Got a 255 error. So i did a full wipe and formatted /data.
After this succesfully restored the backup and phone booted normally with everything intact.
So, internal storage is not encrypted in TWRP.
Rom is pretty smooth. Didn't encouter any issues. Except the known bugs.
Finger print is working, GPS too.
Didn't test NFC or dual sim.
Will use this rom and see how it goes.
edit :
Made a "tap and pay" payment in the supermarket. So NFC is working.

MIUI 11 ported for v30 ( canada H933 not supported)

Before I want to say big thank you to Nankun for porting miui 11 for v30 and also another big thank you to Xiao Vic for maintenance and sharing the rom.
Also thanks to Hendavi for testing on the T-Mobile h932 to figure a way to make this time work on it
Warning: I am not responsible for any damage cause. Read instructions carefully before. I am not the creator of this rom, neither the maintainer. I am just sharing for our passion.
IMPORTANT: VENDOR PARTITION NEEDED BEFORE FLASHING!
Make sure you have VENDOR PARTITION on your device before flashing the rom or else you will get boot loop or brick. You can check the forum for how to enable vendor partition or treble on your device.
Don't flash gapps or else it will break setup. If you want Google applications, use the old method of installing gapps on miui by searching and downloading gapps installer apk file from xiaomi forum or anywhere else to get play store, contact sync and other Google services.
If you are facing bootloaps or brick after installation even when you have vendor partition, just reboot to twrp and make factory reset and reboot again.
It won't boot if you're on stock oreo, since the rom needs pie files to work properly. Make sure you're coming from stock pie rom or have once update to stock pie before installing any AOSP rom as current rom. If you're coming from AOSP pie or Android 10, make back up and flash rom after vendor partition is created.
The rom will boot on all v30 series except for Canada H933 only. If you have this H933 version, you need to convert to US998 before trying r else you will get hard brick.
Those on T-Mobile H932 should do these things. First you will need to boot the miui 10 first, by downloading the miui 10 backup zip file from the main download link and download the file miui 8.22 file and unzip it. After unzipping, place the file in the backup folder under twrp folder in the SD, then restore in twrp recovery and reboot. After rebooting, you can enjoy the miui 10 which works fully for T-Mobile h932 or if you want to update to miui 11, just download the second backup file from the link with T-Mobile H932 only, and follow the same process to restore the files then reboot. But please make sure you still have the vendor partition first before trying any of this.
INSTRUCTIONS
1. Download the rom and places it on your device sd.
2. Reboot to twrp and make back up of your current rom if incase anything, then you restore back.
3. Wipe system, data, vendor, caches then go back to flash rom zip.
4. Reboot to system then enjoy.
Bugs.
HiFi dac don't work. And NFC also don't work. Also double touch to wake don't work for now.
Aside portrait mode of xiaomi camera don't work and it will break the cam app.
Aside these everything works smoothly and stable.

Vendor Partition zip file.
https://mega.nz/#!G9lQWSjL!m1U4b4DA2nXEa7VEQyG_peZfJiPd11vTl0hoFqnINFo
Use this file for creating vendor Partition by flash in twrp.
Make backup first before flashing.
Flash zip, go to wipe and advance, select resize partition, then select vendor, choose where you want to create the vendor partition from( system recommend, and also the size should be 512 and above)
After creating the vendor partition, reboot recovery and format system, vendor and caches. Now you can flash rom.
Good afternoon and thank you for sharing this with us. I have two questions for you. I followed your instructions and regarding to wiping vendor, my phone doesn't allow it to be wiped. Also when I tried to install the rom, I was receiving no os installed when trying to reboot my phone. I redownloaded the rom and and transferred to zip card in hoping that will make a difference in install. Is there a way to bypass vendor wipe or is that needed? Thank you again for adding Miui and many thanks for the porting. I have loved MIUI as long as I had android.

You can't wipe vendor because you don't have the partition. Download the partition file from the below link and flash via twrp. After that, go to wipe, Advance, resize partition, the select vendor and then create a vendor part. You can either create it from the data partition or system partition but I recommend system. The size should be from 512 above not below. After creating the partition, go back to wipe and then wipe system, vendor and caches, then you can now flash the rom.

Awesome. I will try it now.
Got some good news, more good news, great news, and some bad news. The good news is with the zip file provided it installed perfectly. The more good news is the setup was easy. The great news is the camera worked perfectly portrait and landscape. The bad news is trying to figure out how to change everything to English. One thing I discovered is do not install gapps stock with the ROM. It will crash it or it did with me. Awesome port and thank you.

I tried to flash gapps to get google working for syncing purposes and install some of my favorite apps. I tried the local miui app store to download the playstore but the server is extremely slow in my area. About 2 hours and the rom was still downloading the updates prior to installing the selected apps. The rom itself is extremely smooth and running the way MIUI is expected to run without a glitch. I am just wondering if the miui store is downloading using my cellular data instead of my 400M internet.

If you in pie and not having vendor partition, well you need flash oreo twrp(v3.2.x.x) then go ahead for vendor installation, link = https://mega.nz/#!G9lQWSjL!m1U4b4DA2nXEa7VEQyG_peZfJiPd11vTl0hoFqnINFo
And than flash pie twrp(v3.3.x.x) reboot recovery and go ahead for Miui Rom
Btw DT2WA doesn't work, also Chinese bloatware js here, very smoth rom

He will fix DT2WA in the next update and also add always on, he said it drivers issue and he forgot to fix that. Also he is planning on porting global version for global users so let's stay tuned. I will share the next update when it is ready.

You have to use the old method of installing gapps on the miui Chinese rom. Use miui gapps installer apk which you can Google for it. It's works and you will get all your contacts and things back from Google play store.

I was able to get mine fixed by format data, then wipe everything, and reboot recovery before installing miui 11. Everything works beautifully.
