The last thing I remember doing is going to flash a new ROM.
I went into recovery then pushed "factory reset" in CWM.
Ever since then I have not been able to mount /data or /cache so I cannot restore a backup or flash a new ROM. I've tried a lot of different things, NOW I cannot even get a Recovery to start up. (flashed and deleted different versions of different Recoveries (TWRP and CWM).
Was wondering what other solutions there might be.
Right now I am currently using an older booloader with the yellow triangle. Any help is appreciated. Thank you so much!
Well start by putting twrp back on if at all possible go to mount and make sure there are no checks in the boxes of data in system and try to flash another rom or do a restore if you still have issues something far worse has gone wrong post back when and if you can get to that point

Hi guys,
Just to let you know my kindle is unrooted and working perfectly!!!
Anywho, I have a question, Is there any way to get JellyBean on unrooted KF WITHOUT Rooting it?
IF that isn't possible can I get get Google Play on my KF without rooting either???
Thanks,
KirubelA
OK Then
its all GOOOD
and google
Actually the answer to your first question is yes simply use kfu to send twrp and fff in their single selections with out selecting the permanent root option after doing so get into recovery make a backup that you will later name noroot631 then simply do all the proper wipes factory/reset cache dalvik and system and flash jellybean rom and jellybean gapps because all roms are rooted this version will have root the backup of noroot631 will not have root permissions.
the answer to your second question is no
Edit: simply adding fff and twrp does not let me repeat does not root your device it only simply changes your bootloader to fff and gives you the twrp custom recovery
---------- Post added at 04:22 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:09 PM ----------
Also the above being said if your intention is to enjoy rooted stock then root by all means if your intention is to just flash a rom rooting is obsolete and a side note about that modaco is rooted stock with play store added so if stock is your intent but you want the play store then flash modaco my method is true tried and thourghly tested as long as you can follow simple instructions your set but people can even screw up the easy things just saying
I accidently deleted my back-up and now I'm left with TWRP 2.2 and everytime I try to install a tom it fails halfway through. So I looked and most say ignore and wipe Dalvik cache, so I do. Reboot, then it just boots to TWRP.
Kindle Fire Utility will not detect my Fire either.
I'm at a loss, please help.. :\
In twrp go to mount and then mount the drive. Then download a rom from the development section and transfer it to your kindle. Then flash the rom.

I followed your instructions explicitly and they were to no avail, as they relinquished the same results in my latter post.
I've been inactive here over the last month, but from what I've seen the over last couple of days, it seems there's a new version of TWRP (2.2.0? am I seeing this correctly?) that is causing problems. Try an earlier version.

I had first tried 2.0 then updated to 2.2.
Thanks
Then I would say, since you know you can restore from a backup, try requesting one (minus personal data of course) from someone and see if you can restore from it.
It's very strange some of the things going on lately. I'd hate to think Amazon's hardware has something to do with it, although, I wouldn't put it past them.

Any idea where I'd look for a back-up?
The idea has merit, I just googled it and nothing came up.
maybe you'd volunteer to send me a back up?
Thanks

I was thinking more direct upload but since your not here that's kinda difficult lol yea restoring a borrowed backup is probably your best bet once you have a working system replacing twrp would probably be a good idea I have a simple solution for that that really doesn't require much just placing a folder on your SD card and using file browser to run a script... but I really can tell you whether this will remedy your problem if it still exists it could be more than meets the eye..
Maybe your just doing it wrong.
1. Factory reset
2. Wipe cache
3. Wipe dalvik
4. Wipe system
5. Flash rom zip (in zip form)
6. Flash gapps zip (in zip form)
7. Reboot then system if prompted....
If your doing all this and it fails make sure you have zip signature verification and md5 verification unchecked, still failing sounds like a twrp problem..
Also twrp should be throwing you some errors would be nice to know what they are?

The restore was successful. I am now stuck in a boot loop with TWRP.
And I still cannot get KFU to recognize my Fire either.

Install a newer version of TWRP (2.1.1 or greater). Reboot to system does not work properly in earlier versions. Otherwise, use "adb shell idme bootmode 4000" to set the bootmode to normal manually. If you are unfamiliar with adb/fastboot, read this guide...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1552547
The third post has explanations of adb/fastboot commands and how to use them, but the entire guide will probably be useful to you.

No matter what I do, I cannot get my computer to recognize my Kindle. In device manager it says it is there with a yellow triangle, so I click update it doesn't work, I check my Android SDK downloader and it says I have the drivers downloaded so I manually searched for them in the extras folder in the sdk folder, still no go. I get an error. I am now at ends I have no idea what to do, and it is very aggravating to say the least.
Thanks for your help guys!
Instead of letting it boot by itself manually select normal boot in the boot menu if that doesn't work rewipe restore the backup again this time skip the dalvik and cache wipe after the restore...
My computer can't find my kindle fire and it's mounted on twrp
make sure there are no checks in the boxes of system and data then hit the big button that says mount..... the only things that should have checks in them are sdcard and cache...

Here is my guide on how to install Recovery, Root and ROMs
Many people have ROM installation issues
I don't because I follow the steps listed in this guide
There are links to all the files you will need (except the Custom ROMs)
And a text file with detailed directions...
Samsung Drivers http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1982287
Odin 1.85 http://www.google.ca/url?sa=t&rct=j...z_mnviPnj2BDxmA&bvm=bv.45645796,d.b2I&cad=rja
TWRP 2.5.0.0 http://techerrata.com/file/twrp2/hercules/openrecovery-twrp-2.5.0.0-hercules.tar
To download ROMs go the Android Development thread and pick the ROM you like... (for some you will need gapps too)
Make sure you read the OP= Opening Page(s) and follow the ROM installation instructions posted there...
Let me know if there is something that is unclear or if you feel that something is missing... don't hesitate to let me know
if you reply in this thread and quote me I will be notified by email... and I will get back to you

Did you go into the settings in TWRP and check off RM -rf? There's a bug where it won't wipe preload without rm -rf.

The best info on rooting and installing roms
Hi, I am a new person on XDA, but have been searching for a while about how to root and install roms on my phone.
I bought the phone for $34.00 on EBAY, changed the front glass which was badly cracked and have a rather nice SII.
I have to thank you as this is the best and most concise information I have found, not only on XDA Developers site but anywhere so far.
Great posting.

Has anyone managed to decrypt their internal storage. If it's possible, how do you do it (I think that you can do it by wiping on TWRP, but I was wondering if there were any alternatives)?

There's a certain TWRP that I'm using that has decryption working. As soon as I boot into TWRP, it asks me to input my password (or PIN, if that's the security you use for unlocking your phone) and it decrypts data and internal storage. I can't find the link at the moment but I'll share it as soon as I find it.
If I'm not mistaken, it's supposed to be for the P10 but works for our phone.
---------- Post added at 01:39 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:34 PM ----------
Here it is! You can use the most recent one (0.4). It only works on stock EMUI though, or that's what it says. I haven't tried to flash any custom ROMs yet.

You can try this, If you want to completely remove encryption!
All credit goes to @Mickey387 , this is his link for the Mate 9

Give him Thanks!
Read his guide but use my files. All I did was edit his files with our fstab file without encryption. Plus use a TWRP for our device. I provided one that's suppose to work good for backups. It's by askuccio at this link also.

FYI, I haven't actually tested this. I just made these files on the fly. Anyone feel free to check them out.
** Unzip TWRP file, it's compressed to upload or get it from source provided above!!
