About half the time, after the latest update, I keep getting a "SIM card -1 error: cannot send message"
This only happened after the latest update. At first I thought it was because I moved, but that isn't the issue after all.
I am on the T-Mobile z2 force
Sim Card 1 - Error 1
I started experiencing this error, Sim Card 1 - Error 1, day before yesterday. I am using the TMO Z2 Force. Stock TMO Rom (OCXS27.1.2). Been using the stock kernel for the last month or so. I was traveling Southern Oklahoma and list my service in an area that I never lose my signal. I travel this area daily between Texas and Oklahoma. My signal remained very poor for About 2 hours and during this period I kept receiving this error every time I attempted to send a text. I could receive text without any problems. Once I made it back to a solid signal area near Mineral Wells, TX the error stopped occuring. I rebooted my device and I haven't had the problem occur for over 24 hours now.

The thing is, I always have at least 3 bars and 4G data. I still get the error whether I'm on WiFi or not

hey all, i am on the latest Oxygen rom with a fairly new desire on us cellular. starting last night, in places where i normally get good reception, my phone is completely dropping service, down to the "searching for service" prompt. I normally get 2-3 bars in my house, but it drops to the point where i have to walk outside the door to get enough service to send a text or make a call. does anyone have any ideas????
Edit:
My phone has done this before, but not this bad and hasnt lasted this long. i have done the *228 (uscc store said to do it, and have done it where i actually have service) and it says my phone will not activate

The mobile provider might have a problem.
My Verizon Galaxy Nexus isn't picking up any cell service. I updated to CM10.1 (Android 4.2.2) mid-February and noticed my phone was showing no bars of service more often then with CM10. Even with no bars I still had "some" service and was able to make calls usually. Last week I updated the radios on both my Dad's and I's GNs to the 4.2.2 radios. For my phone I used the radio files from MWalt's thread, for my Dad's I used the ones directly from Mark Manning's radio thread. I didn't realize they were different versions and that MWalt's may have been patched.
I came back to my parents house this weekend, they have a network extender. My phone again was showing no bars but did have the little "R" indicating a Network Extender. Having little (to no) service even with the network extender was causing my phone to die very quickly. Today I was doing some errands (to places where I should have service), for the first 10 minutes of driving I had no bars but did have the 3G indicator and was able to make calls. Once I got to a certain point my service cutout completely. For the the next 4 hours I had zero service and couldn't make any calls (again in areas where I should have had varying amounts of service). Driving back once I got to the same spot where I lost service, no bars of 3G service returned and I was able to make calls. When I reached home, I again had no bars but was able to make calls.
I just backup my entire SD card and did a complete factory install using Google's 4.2.2 factory images (with the flash-all.bat). Still no improvement, I'm getting 0 bars of service standing next to the network extender. My Dad's GN (as well as the rest of my family's phones) are getting 2-4 bars of service depending on where they are in the house.
Any ideas?
Thanks
TL;DR: I wiped my phone by installing Google's factory images (4.2.2) and my phone is getting no bars of service (although I can *sometimes* make calls standing next to a network extender ("cell tower") or in areas where I should have good service). Any ideas? Thank you...
You might have flashed a Toroplus or Maguro ROM. Im not sure what to tell you other then to call Verizon and check if its a location problem and if its not try manually flashing the stock cdma radio from the google images. (Extract and install both "radio-cdma-toro-i515.fk01.img" and "radio-toro-i515.fk02.img" just in case).
If that doesnt work then try flashing the 2 radios from the 4.1.1 stock image.
I'm sure I flashed the correct toro images, and after posting this I also tried flashing the entire 4.1.1 factory images. Still no improvement. Tomorrow I'll be going back to NJ (from VT), I'm hoping to see some improvement down there.
Thanks for the reply. Any other suggestions would still be appreciated.
I just went down to the Verizon store (back in NJ) after seeing no improvement when I got back to my house. Of course on the 5 minute drive between here and there I get full (4 or 5?) bars of 4G service. And by the time I got to the store I still had 2-3 bars of 4G service. Anyway, the guy at least believed me enough to give me a new sim card. But once I drove back up the hill from the store I lost 4G service in the exact same spot again.
Keeping in mind this is in the Cliffside Park/Edgewater area of NJ (literally right across the Hudson river from NYC). I *should* have great service in this entire area. I don't know what to do, except pay the $100 for a POS refurbished phone form Asurion or maybe pay full price for a S4.
I called Verizon CS and they were able to confirm not being able to see my phone connected to their network. After 40 minutes they actually (read:finally) offered to replace the phone. Should be here in a couple days. Now this phone has to be a refurbished one correct? Any chance they are sending out new ones? I read some stories earlier about people being on their 3rd or 4th replaced GNs because of constant problems with the replacements.
Edit: Just got the confirmation email for my "certified like-new replacement" phone. Oh well, we'll see how this turns out... Until then I'm back on my Droid Incredible. Damn this phone is tiny and slow as s***.
Hey guys,
A little history:
Earlier tonight I noticed that my phone kept dropping phone calls in places that I never really had a problem before. I was sitting in my room, looking at my phone and I had 4 bars. I went to call Sprint to find out if there was an outage or issue with my account and at exactly 16 seconds into the call my phone said "No Service" and dropped the call. I was baffled, as the entire time I had 4 bars. I tried calling back, and once again at exactly the 16 second mark the call was dropped. I moved to different areas of my house, went outside, drove down the street to the park and tried making calls and they were all dropped. I tried updating the profile and PRL several times, and as each one was successful, my calls were still getting dropped. I was rooted and running a custom rom (I couldnt even tell you what... its been forever since I flashed anything) so I thought maybe that was the issue. I unrooted my phone, did a factory reset, and went back to stock. Then I updated my profile and PRL and tried making some calls... same results.
Using a friend's phone I called Sprint's customer service to troubleshoot and the rep walked me through all of the standard steps. She did mention that 4G was being rolled out in my area, but said that the two towers closest to me that my phone should be connecting to were not scheduled for their updates yet so I shouldnt even be effected right now. The last thing that she had me try was the ##72786# reset to update me to the correct tower. Now, when my phone came back on and finished everything it did say that I was connected to 4G and had 5 bars (this is the first time that I had ever received 4G at my house, let alone on this phone since I got it when it came out last year) however, my calls were still being dropped. Its not happening at exactly 16 seconds anymore, but so far every call (both outgoing and incoming) were dropped while in the middle of talking. The rep said that it was most likely unfortunately my phone because she did not see any service interruptions etc on her end. She could have of course been lying to me, and maybe the 4G roll out in my area is causing this.... but no one else I know is having these issues.
Has anyone experienced anything like this before? Any idea of a definitive way to find out if the issue is in fact my phone or if this is something I just have to wait out?
tl:dr - My phone drops all calls without fail, even in areas that Ive never had service issues. Both outgoing and incoming. Unrooted my phone, went back to stock just in case... same issues. Updated profile and PRL several times. Did the ##72786# update on the phone with customer service. My phone connected to 4G for the very first time ever, but my calls are still being dropped every time within the first 2 minutes. Sprint rep said that there are no issues on their end. Advice?
Thanks for any and all advice!
May be due to the towers being overloaded from everyone else being pushed on to them while their towers are out for upgrades. Unupdated towers will get crap for service once they get overloaded and they have to take a higher load when neighboring towers are down for upgrades.

I have a 128gb pixel XL with Verizon, which I purchased through verizon as well. Randomly at times just as I'm going to place a call it will start ringing and then disconnect and it will show loss of signal. This has also happened while I was on a call. I'm on the latest firmware as well. Has any body else ran into this issue?
I ran into this last night. I'm a sprint customer with pixel xl ordered from Google. I am on V software. It could just be the fact it's only connected to one 4g band which has low strength in the area we were at during the drop times. Mine hasn't done it since last night might have been in a dead zone
Yes, this has happened many, many times to me. I have a replacement coming that hopefully will take care of it.

For me its switching from band 13 to band 4.
I don't have this issue at all on TMO but in my area (Chicago) TMO is exclusively band 4. So this would lend some support to the possibility that this is happening when switching bands as I don't ever switch bands and don't have the issue (3 different Pixel devices that I've used since launch and none have exhibited this behavior).
I never had this issue on my Pixel XL, but then when I switched to the Pixel it would drop every single call I made and take 2-3 minutes to get a signal again. This was using the Verizon SIM card it came with. I then got a different SIM card and while it hasn't dropped a call since, I still notice that randomly throughout the day it loses signal where I have never lost signal before. I then wait 2-3 minutes and all of a sudden, it's back to strong LTE signal.
I'm on the fence about RMA'ing it. Anyone have any thoughts on whether or not this is a software or hardware issue? I don't want to be stuck with this problem.

Any resolution to this yet? I've tried swapping the sim to no avail. Running custom kernel and pure Nexus.
I'm on Project FI and sometimes the phone would switch to T-Mob for no apparent reason, which has extremely bad signal. While USC has over 100 times better signal, the phone for no apparent reason would switch to crap. That usually results in no calls being made at all. One trusty remedy is type in a dialer code to switch to next provider.

I also have the 128GB XL (quite black) from VZW. I had absolutely no issues with it until about 2 weeks ago. That's when I started experiencing this same issue. The signal bar goes clear and i lose service for a few moments. In watching the SIM status, I can see where the status will go from "In service" to "Radio off" to "Out of service" back to "In service." I also took screenshots of it doing this. The weird thing for me is that it only happens when I'm at work (I usually have full bars for reception). VZW seems quite baffled at this issue. They have replaced my phone twice. This 3rd phone is doing the exact same thing the other 2 were. I did a chat session with Google Support, and the 1st level tech I chatted with seemed unaware of the issue. My wife has the same phone (silver), and she hasn't experienced this issue yet at all. We were thinking about bringing her phone to my office to see if hers will display the same symptoms mine does here. Nobody else in my area has any reception issues. It's not a huge inconvenience while I'm at work since I have a desk phone. However, it is rather annoying when I cannot send a text or make/receive a call because my cellular radio is resetting itself constantly.
I couldn't post my screenshots since I have < 10 posts...
I'v e had my LTE tablet since Sept. Since then I've been kicked off the network 3 times. It was difficult to initially get on the network.
First they had a wrong tablet somehow associated with my SIM. An Ellipsis I also have that is used without LTE.
Each of the times I have full bars, a decent signal, but no LTE. The tier 2 tech says the devices is not registered, same as initially.
The tech tonight says the network takes between 30-60 days before it kicks an unregistered device. He also can't get me on the network but he did the usual refresh.
Anyone have experience with this?
