Hello!
I'm trying to uninstall the package(s) that has/have to do with the startup screen where you are asked to select the language and wifi network followed by updates check and I managed to do this by using this guide:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/fire-tv/general/disable-bloatware-2nd-gen-fire-tv-stick-t3674629
It uninstalled a lot more than I needed and I am trying to follow it step by step, package by package.
The ideea is, though, to get an index of the amazon packages so to see exactly what I am uninstalling and what not, since some of these are not really self-explanatory.
I found this index https://developer.android.com/reference/packages but it seems to lack all amazon apps.
So is there any way to find and index or at least to understant what each of these packages do?
Thank you! :fingers-crossed:

This list is not exactly related to Fire TV but to Fire OS as a whole. However, the most important Fire TV packages are included. It's a start to read something into it.

Looks good. I'll get back to working on it after 16th of this month and I'll come back and let you know if it helped. Hope all this work could help me to make a tutorial for what I am doing now, I think it would be helpful for other people. Thanks for your help!

If you can't find any information about some special packages, I can try to answer that. Just send me a list with the packages you didn't find out about (max. 10).

Thank you so much! I have managed to find a post on github with what looks like the packages organised in categories, but I cant find the link anymore. Will update this answer if I find it.

Hi,
I have been searching all over the forums and online for a way to create and sign themes using my MacBook Pro running Leopard. I followed a guide http://www.threaded.com/2009/02/getting-started-with-google-android-on.html but as soon as I entered the make command, it would do its thing and then stop because it could not find clearsilver-jni. I'm really frustrated, and about to make a Linux dual boot partition (would that even help?) If anyone has some tips or instructions, I would be eternally grateful. Thank you!

It looks like you are starting from scratch. Is this true? If so, I would start here (this worked on my MacBook Pro w/Leopard).
Download the Mac OS X version from here:
http://developer.android.com/sdk/1.5_r3/index.html
Install with these directions (follow these step by step):
http://developer.android.com/sdk/1.5_r3/installing.html
I also chose to install Eclipse (Ganymede version); it works well for me.
This will give you the SDK, a programming environment, and of course adb.
Oh--and if your issue is only about signing the files, check out this tutorial:
http://www.androiddevelopment.org/2009/01/19/signing-an-android-application-for-real-life-mobile-device-usage-installation/
Wow, thank you.
I've been wondering the exact same thing.
Thanks!
Thank you, Derfolo. I already had th SDK up and running, but I really appreciate the simplification of signing files. That's awesome, because now I can modify any theme released, resign it, and throw it on my phone. Thanks again! And no problem ffff00 (hexadecimal?) Have a good one guys.

Hi there,
First of all! Great forum! You guys have build a great community and I like it. But I hope you can help me with this. i know there are a lot of threads about this, but because all the different type of phones/android versions ect... I don't know what to do...
My question, how can I get Adroid running on my HTC Touch Pro 2 (Rhodium). I have the standart version, so not a branded one.
I've tried to install it but android won't launch. Maby one of you could create a mini tutorial or a noob tutorial, because I think there are more people like me (with less knowedge of phone tech) who want to run android on their phones. I hope you could help me!
Thanks!
Kind Regards,
Sami

Haret is part of the android program. (haret.exe)
You can either use a file explorer to navigate to storage card/android/haret
or with the .cab installs (anything after 2/22) you will get an icon in your start menu.

Hi Thanks I've used that thread but used the wrong cab. Didn't know that rhod100 is the standart version
Thank you! It works now, but is it a known problem that you cant fill in the correct code (PIN code for your SIM?).
And second I can't charge my battery with the usb cable is this also a known problem?
Thanks

I have Android installed on my phone and it works fine except one MAJOR thing. I messed up the touch screen calibration and now I can't use the touch screen in android and I cant figure out how to recal the touch screen in android.
Got it. i just deleted the ts calibration file from the android project folder and started android again.

Ok man maybe you can help me out with the problem im having. I go to file explorer and i launch Haret.exe and it immediately takes me to the linux booting page with the penguin at top. But it soon stops saying "Cant access tty. Job control turned off. And it doesnt move from there. What am i doing wrong?
delete all the contents from the .cab file you downloaded, make sure your memory card has wiped any remaining files from the original download, re-install and make sure you are downloading the correct .cab file for your handset, install to memory card and try again.
Yo Ihwparis chill out. This is a forum for information trading and gathering. Everyone was a noob at one time or another including you and asked questions that have been asked a million times already. Stop treating people like idiots. Help them or stop reading the thread. Someone else will help them out. It's not that serious. I can tell you one problem here that I encountered was a thread would be started and trail off into someting completely different never answering the first question. After reading pages upoon pages you get nothing. Some people like myself have real lives and real jobs and dont have time to sit here and read every post. If you take it so serious maybe you should sticky an informative how to guide and maybe that will stop people from bothering you so much.

I was actually on XDA for about 6 months, reading, before I finally decided to even MAKE an account, because I didn't want to be "That Noob". It was about another 6 months to a year before I posted anything at all. As you said yourself, most questions have already been asked a million times. This means that it is only a matter of reading, before you find someone that has asked the same question. In most cases once you find the question, and read a little further it leads you to the answer. He was smart enough to post in the correct sub-forum, which means he must have read through the forums a bit anyways. It wouldn't have taken much more work to read the top 3 sticky threads in that same sub-forum, and find the answer to the question.
I can get the whole thing to load however I cannot ever get the start screen (touch the androind to start) to ever let me touch it. The only thing that works is the keyboard input. Any suggestions?
Howdy guys,
I followed the instructions on newlisp.org's android page, and built newlisp successfully for the old nexus 7. the same newlisp copied to my 2013 nexus 7 does not work. I get
cannot link executable: empty/missing DT_Hash in "./newlisp" (built with --hash-style=gnu?)
Since the processors are different it's not unexpected that it didn't work, but I was hoping. my searches and questions elsewhere have not given me any clues. Can anyone tell me what I need to change to build for the new nexus, or point me in the right direction?
Thanks.

It was a bone-headed mistake. I had the transfer type in my ftp client set to "auto" and it needed to be "binary". Doh! The simple things can sometimes trip you up.
Hope the solution to your problem is as easy to fix...

WIMBoot for RT devices.
You can build it yourself. The complete guide is here, http://tech.myonlylonely.com/wimboot-for-surface-2/(This article is based on a post in PCBeta, http://bbs.pcbeta.com/viewthread-1576145-1-1.html.).
I'm the author of this article. And it also provide a built recovery image for you to reset your device to a wim boot implementation state. Both the guide and the recovery image is in simplified Chinese, but you can add your own language pack into that image or build your own image. The image is only for Surface 2, but you can follow the guide to build it for your Surface RT and other RT devices.
Please use it at your own risk!
Edit:
I have translated my article into English. New Link: http://tech.myonlylonely.com/wimboot-for-surface-2-en/.

So you are making a Windows RT install image with a smaller footprint, right? How much space are you saving? Or is there some other benefit that I'm missing?

There is no other benefit. For those who has a 32G device, it can save a lot of space. I post this just because it is possible. You could use it or not.

I realized after reading my question again that it might seem like it had a negative tone. Sorry about that. I was really asking so I could understand the reason for making such an image, as I have a 32gb device myself.

That's OK. The benefits: 1. You can save space. 2. And you still can recover to an origin state without making a recovery flash drive. If you read the Technet article to learn how it works you can understand why it can save space and still can recover to an origin state without a flash drive at the same time. Here is the article: https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn594399.aspx.
Hi,
New to this, so be gentle!! My sons Galaxy Tab E (SM-T560) appears to frozen on the boot screen (beyond the animated logo). Having googled for cause/resolution, it sounds like it needs flashing if that's the right term. I can boot to the download menu e.g. Odin etc, but am having trouble finding a firmware download. Have tried both Sammobile & Updato, and can find the right download, but for the life of me, cannot download from either site on the free membership. Even tried the premium memberships but both websites seem to be broken when it comes to completing any transaction.
Any pointers, advice etc will be most welcome.
Rgds

You can obtain the Firmware for the SM-T560 on the following link...
https://samfrew.com/model/SM-T560/
... All you need to do is select the devices specific region from the first screen on the above link.
That website is a decent one and I've never had an issue with the older firmware I had grabbed from it.
Also, the following area of the forum is specific to your device and variants as well.

Good Luck!

Hi Ibuprohen,
Thanks so much for the pointers & links. Found the correct firmware and d/l Odin, applied the update, but now the tablet is stuck at the " Android is upgrading - finishing boot" stage. Have even left overnight, but is still stuck at this point. Either something is broken or I've done something wrong.
Any suggestions welcome, otherwise I have a nice little white glass & plastic coaster
Cheers,
Dave
