My pixel 2 xl suddenly won't charge via the original charger although the charger works on any other phone except mine ! and my phone will be charged by any other charger and when i try to plug my phone to the computer it won't work ! is it a damaged port or just software glitch ?

It's the port, pretty common. My second one is starting to go. It will get worse and then completely fail. Hopefully you are the original owner, they will warranty it.
Try cleaning the port. A little rubbing alcohol and compressed air.

First time I've had a legit need to RMA issue and I'm not the original owner. Even worse it was bought under ProjectFi apparently. Couldn't get anywhere for a RMA. I guess if the phone is clearly less than a year old why should it not supported? I understand it states this and states that, blah, blah, blah, but it just seems like a way out of not having to support your product, when it wasn't even release a year ago yet.

If it works fine with other chargers but not the original I doubt it's the charge port. For me the original charger will often only work if it's plugged in one way. If you plug it in and it won't charge try unplugging, flipping the cable over and plugging it back in. It happens to me with the original charger and a replacement of the original charger but not with the 2 chargers I had from my Nexus 5X or any other chargers I try.
The same happened to me. Just clean the port, with some alcohol.
I watered my phone, tbe usb port got damaged, i cleaned it, and a day after it were working again.

Two nights ago, I plugged my phone into the cable/charger. Roughly 30 minutes later, I picked up the phone and noticed that the USB plug was extremely hot and the bottom 1/4 of the phone was real hot. Unplugged the phone, rebooted, then plugged it back in. Within a minute, the plug was heating up and so was the phone.
Now the phone won't charge.
Tried the factory charger, car charger, and the USB-C to USB-A cable that I received from Project Fi.
When I tried using the Fi cable to charge the phone with my Mac, a warning message appeared saying the USB device is pulling too much power.
Sounds like it got just short of melting. You should be able to warranty it. The Project Fi forum has some posts about this, and XDA does as well. See this thread about actual melting/burning:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-5x/general/nexus-5x-melted-usb-port-using-charger-t3265816
Is there any way to test the charger or cable? Don't want to risk melting another phone.
I had the same Problem! Please Send it right away back to LG or Google! The prone will destroy every charging adapter witch you plug in!
Already received my replacement phone. Broken phone is going back to Google.

I haven't kept up to date with checking USB Type C to A cables but Benson Leung has a long list of type A to C cable reviews on his Google+ account. He is on the Google Pixel team if I'm not mistaken.

And it was the Charger. Now it is the Phone and the Charger. You should send the charger with your phone back to Google, because this charger will damage other devices!

Incorrect.
Tested a couple of my chargers with a different phone and they work just fine.
Factory LG charger, car charger, and my Mac are all in normal working order.
SO yeah, I've seen where people have had software issues causing this on the Note 8, and S8 models, is it a bug that crept into the S9 as well? The tech at the Sprint store verified the cleanliness and dryness of the port, thinks it's the port, and they won't have parts to fix it for probably a month or so. I REALLY don't want to send it in to be fixed, so I bought a couple wireless chargers.

It it showing constantly or only when a cable is plugged in? If it's with a cable, have you tried other cables? I had my phone give me that message earlier today when plugging in an incompatible hub. The hub wasn't even connected to anything.
Have you checked with your wife?

All the time. It has a popup with sound when you plug it in. The rest of the time, it's just a notification in the tray.

Yeah, tried rebooting, wiped cache, power down all the way, multiple times. Tried plugging the cable in while booting. It looks to be charging while plugged in and powered down.
So, the message went away, and it would charge with 2 different chargers, normal speed, not fast charge. Would not work with a charger I have here at home. None are Samsung chargers, but all are QC 3.0, which will report as fast charging on the phone. Then today it charged fast in the truck, and the one at home works, but only slow speed.
I'm not going to stress over it as long as the fast wireless charging keeps working. The battery life is more than enough to get me through a day, and I'm ordering stuff to integrate wireless chargers into the vehicles.
Thanks for reading and trying to help!

I probably missed to ask before, but are you sure you are using the original cable, together with the original power charger?
As stressed by @DeadlySin9 the problem may be the cable. Try other cables.

Yeah, I had tried the original cord and charger. whatever it was effected the phone before even plugging it in. The message would be there in the notifications, then plugging the cable in would set off an "alarm" telling me to unplug it and let it dry.
A couple weeks later and it is working just fine, charging with pretty much any cord, and charger. Ugh. I hope it stays that way! LOL At least Sprint DID give me a pretty good discount on a 2 pack of wireless chargers, which is what I use most of the time, now.

Thumbs up!
So, I've had this problem with my new Galaxy s9 as well. Here's the specifics - this only happens IF the phone dies from running out of power. If I let the battery drain on accident, I plug in the device...new cord/charger, original cord/charger, doesn't matter...and it shows the charging symbol for just a second, and then warning there's moisture in the charging port. There's not... If I set the phone on top of a wireless charging pad for a few mins, it charges just fine.
All I have to do is get 3 - 4 % so I can power on the device and get to the home screen. If I can get to the home screen, I can plug the phone in with the cord/charger and no problems.
I just did a warranty replacement because this problem is real annoying. I don't let the phone run out of power often, but sometimes when I'm traveling for work or camping with scouts, it happens. So, before I sent my old phone back for the warranty swap, I let the new phone run out of power and then tried to plug it in. Same error!!
If anyone has this problem follow this trick. "connect the charger half to the charging port." that is it. works fine to me..
For the last week device has wonky charging. Wouldn't even notice stock c to c cable plugged in. Would charge with a to c after reboot. Fast charge ok on c to c car charger. Then not, or only after reboot.
Google is sending a new charger, but that's not the problem. ( Just opened the last one the sent me before previous device started smoking). Finally got home after 2 weeks (hurricane). Tried several chargers/cables. Plug in a reboot
Will talk to PC for file transfer and such.
No alarm this morning. Was on charger when I went to bed. Guess it shut down by itself at 100%.
Had that quick bug a few weeks ago...noticed battery saver turned on by itself.
Any chance any if this is software with latest updates? Thinking this is my 3 rd device now with USB port issues.
Ohh...just checked. Headphone adapter not recognized.....AGAIN.
Google is good about replacing, but can't the fix that port?
Worst part....finally got my $50 Whitestone done installed. So now I have to order another replacement kit for the replacement Pixel 2 XL.
Clean the connector. That is often all it is.
Give it a small spray of electrical cleaner...
I had the same problem. They installed a new motherboard in the device and gave it back to me.
Thanks for input.
Gave it a few shots of deoxit contact cleaner and some light cleansing with small toothpick.
Seemed to work for a little bit. Then random reboots while plugging in various chargers and cables. One option even caused it to boot when plugged in.
Headphone adapter only worked 1 out of 50; tties.
Did you recently upgrade to Pie?
I had this exact problem as well.
It started when I upgraded (stock).
Spoke with Google rep and they know about the issue.
Downgraded and the issue persists.
Seems like the software update is breaking internal hardware?
Had to RMA mine.
Possible bad cable or non USB PD compliant powered source or cable fried something in the charge circuit? Maybe invest in a USB-C power meter.
Just finishing up setup on replacement device before RMA of defective device. But.....
Factory reset, and it works fine!!!!!
Normally they make you do that before sending a replacement. But in my case phone wouldn't even charge with phone off. How can any kind of software be a culprit if the is isn't even loaded????
I just got my replacement. I had usb hardware failure. Tried three cords and two computers and would only charge. Replacement fixed it

Hi guys, how long did the RMA take for you guys?
I have faulty speaker grill, they are replacing my device however I do not have any spare phone... need to borrow one from one of my friend, need an approximate time frame
If you can let me know, that would be great!

I had the same thing, sent mine for a replacement.
My pixel 2 XL stopped charging at all of the sudden and only accepts slow charging and with a "Chinese" cable. The original cable doesn't work. No the cable ain't broken or the charger. My girlfriend has a pixel 3 and she uses my charger and cable and works on hers. We used also her charger and cable ( from pixel 3s ) and on her pixel 3 everything works comes to mine it doesn't even recognize to start charging.
Are you using the original brick and cable? A friend of mine has a google one device that after an update, it won't charge unless it is used with the original brick and cable...
Yes I'm using the original one.. I wrote it all but I don't know why XDA deleted some stuff.
Anyway yeah always used the original one and always been using. Never used another cable or charger actually.
It just happened put of nowhere, morning was fine when I went to bed couldn't charge it.
The only way I'm able to charge my phone now is with those lame cables of 1£ and it charges super slow. 5h for 80%. But that's literally the only way.
I've done factory reset, hard and soft resets, battery calibration, cleaned the port with toothpicks... Nothing seems to work.
It's a weird problem because the original cables don't work just the non original ones , which charge super super slow, but I'm also sure the cable and the chargers don't have any problem because I live with my girlfriend and she always uses them ( the one who came with my phone and the one who came with hers , she has a pixel 3 ) and no problems with her. Just with me.
Maybe my battery is faulty ?

Hello there,
I got my Pixel 3a XL for a week now and since yesterday I'm not able to charge it with the original fast charger that came with it. With a different USB A To C cable it works, though very slow.
When I plug in the original charger one of the following happens:
- Nothing. I have to flip the cable like in the old USB days (wtf)
- It charges in a one second Interval. Meaning I hear the sound/vibration when it starts charging, but then it immediately stops charging, starts chargings, stops charging... and so on.
I already factory reset my phone, which didn't help. I tried a different charger from a galaxy phone. Same happens there. Only with a USB A to C cable which is plugged in a PC I am able to charge...
What could that be?

First of all, is this a new, used, or factory refurbished phone? If it's new or refurbished with a warranty, get it replaced under warranty. If it was used and/or has no warranty, look at the port on the phone to see if it's dirty. Carefully clean it out with whatever will fit in the port without damaging it. Pay special attention to the bottom as debris tends to get compressed and eventually gets thick enough to keep the cable from going in far enough to make a good, secure contact.

It's brand new. I did just clean it (but nothing came out or was visible) and now charging works again...
That's weird. It was clean as a whistle and I just thought "just clean it even though it looks clean"... weird!
But thanks anyway
Do you know anyone who has a QC 3.0 adapter and cable USB 3 end? Try it on a different charger... If it fails on multiple chargers/cables, then you device is likely defective and you will need to get it repaired/replaced.
Sorry, no quick fix here...
