Hey guys
Shouldn't we all get the updates at same time? Since we are pixels I was expecting to be something similar to apple and when an update rolls out everyone get it...
I'm in beta pp3 and looks like a lot of people got the ota update for pp4 and I did not... How is that possible? Anything that I need to do on my device to get it? I don't want to do it manually I just want to get my OTA updates in time.. There's anyway to push it to my device?
Thanks for your time and help in advance

Yeah, a lot of folks think as you do, however, it doesn't seem to work that way. It can take up to a week before everyone gets their OTA. You could go to settings/system/system updates and see if it comes through. Other than that, if you don't want to do it manually, patience is your best ally

The carriers push it out????
Google does stage roll-outs. It can take up to 2 weeks for everyone to get it.
If time is an issue for you, they provide factory images, as well as OTA files for download and manual application.
Staged roll outs are the only way servers and bandwidth do not exceed limits. If not they would be a kind of dos attack on themselves.
It's a patient roll out...
I just restarted the phone and I got the update instantly... But while tapping to check for updates no... So weird ??*

ok just a simple question.......Can we apply the OTA update from HTC or not?
I am not ready to root yet but also do not want the ability taken away, I know that people are reporting that the unrevoked method still works but is this really where the rooting method is going to stay since it seems to me its really not complete yet.
I could be missing something so please let me know what you think as coming from the Hero I am a bit confused
wow, not 1 opinion.........this is weird for this forum
There is already answers in this very forum page, you didn't even looked once before posting the question. Yes, you can do the OTA Update.

man oh man, I post a question in Q&A, and this guy wants to talk trash on his second post since 09' you are truly an asset to this community
If you do update you are going to want to get ready to install atk to kill the calendar app. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=695515
I did not use the phone pre update so I have to say the update is actually good beyond the calendar issue. The other sprint bloatware that people are saying are running and draining battery aren't running on their own in the ota.

I would think that a member with your number of posts would know to do so without being asked.
No problem with the Calendar here and I updated, it is something else that is causing the problem. Are you guys that are having that problem rooted?
I searched these forums and have heard others pose the question, but I have yet to hear a clear cut answer. The forum activity has been in a frenzied state lately so forgive me if I missed it.
Is there a way to block the 2.2 OTA? Does it install automatically? Like many, I'm rooted and running CM6 and loving it and would like to keep my phone just how it is. Hopefully I can just decline the update and not be nagged by it going forward.

The phone won't install any OTA without your permission, even full stock.
With CM6, you'll probably never get prompted because I think Cyanogen removes the OTA capability to keep this from happening.

I sure hope so, that would be best case scenario. Thanks for the reply.
No, its true, you can't even update your prl and profile with CM6, you have to flash a different rom and then nandroid back.
The only issue i have is the temptation lol.. but i'm sure it'll only be a few days before a CM6 or other ROMs are based off the official release.

South Florida sucks. Everyone else.... thanks for the feedback.
No need to, most of the Roms will not allow you to get the OTA update, and in the event you see that update you will have an option to install or not, so you are good.. no worries...
my brother has the nexus one, and let me tell you it is awesome, i have tried a whole bunch of ROM's out there and they are all cool but dont really compare to froyo 2.2. my question is, when will there be a 2.2 froyo root for the EVO?
Hello All,
I have been very lucky to acquire an LG GW910 phone which is now working very well.
My phone has OS version 7.0.7003.0 on it, but I have read that the phones that are currently available are running 7.0.7004. Does anyone know why my phone does not update to the latest version?
Will it receive the update that is expected at the beginning of 2011?
Thanks for your comments

when the phone is a retail (got it in a shop) one than you will get an update but when it is pre-retail(test phone/demo) then I don't know.
this may be a lil condescending but i don't mean it to be as sometimes the simple things get over looked (i know from personal experiences) have you checked that both tick boxes are ticked under the phone update tab in settings. I know the phone is supposed to check under wifi or when plugged in anyway but i wouldn't put my faith in this.
Hello,
Don't worry... I didn't take your comment badly... yes... both options are checked, and I have also asked the Zune client to check for updates.
The phone was won at one of the developers conferences, but I don't think that makes a difference does it? Why would a developer not receive the updates for their phone?
Oh well... when the update comes out, I am sure that I will then find out if I get it!!
If anyone can confirm if I will or will not get the update, your comments are much appreciated.
Regards.
nebc100
My request for confirmation:
From the Pdf I got from WMPoweruser I read that updates on WP7 will not require any reinstallation, it will be seamless process - after update you get your phone at the same state it was before.
Anyone?
Anyone.........?

Ok I see. Well apparently this is what official MS paper says.....
Just started downloading a software update. It appears to be pretty big update size because I have fast wifi and it is taking a while to download.
Anyone else getting update? Anyone know what the changes are in this update? I will report back after download completes and see what version it is.

I don't have AT&T myself but, if you Looked at/posted this question within the Dedicated Device Area that this applies to, you may be able to obtain some additional information regarding your specific question.
As a guess myself... If it's recently released, then it's probably due to a heavy server load reflecting allot of individuals downloading it as well.
Good Luck!

Unfortunately mine applied the update in my pocket somehow. I wanted to hold off on the update to wait and see what it contained.. ah well.

Does this device have 2 partitions for seamless updates?
Hi Guys,
First, humble apologies if I have asked this question in the wrong section and if there is already an answer to this - I just couldn't find one after a cursory search.
My Pixel 3 XL recently upgraded itself to Android 10 from Pie.
I have noticed a number of issues with the "upgrade", as have others it would seem.
Anyway I would like to roll back to Android Pie.
Can someone tell me, show me, how I can go about doing this please?
Instructions in easy to follow simpleton English would be gratefully appreciated
Thanks in advance.
All the best,
Keith

Probably cant roll back. If you are OEM unlocked you could try Fastboot but with each major upgrade - they change certain BL / Security Versions so you cant roll back.

Hi,
Sorry but I am not sure what you mean, especially this bit: "they change certain BL / Security Versions so you cant roll back"
I have read in the various news reports, and on the Google support page, that those who have had issues with their Pixel 3 XL after the upgrade to 10 fixed their issues be downgrading back to PIE.
So I am guessing it can be done but I haven't got a clue how to do it.
Find a build of pie and flash through ADB

Can you explain please?
Maybe provide some nice easy to follow instructions?

Everything is right there, this will wipe your device. If you aren't comfortable with what is there, you probably should just stay on 10, and wait for fixes to roll out.
OK I am officially as thick as pig manure
I am obviously failing to understand how to do this because for the life of me I just cant get it to work.

Think you are better off staying on 10 with your lack of understanding, try a factory reset instead

Greeting from a fellow grey haired android user. Flashing old versions etc used tobe quite easy on these phones but things changed a few years ago to have slots and some othe mallarky which has made messing about with the phone a bit more complicated and very touchy.
I used to muck around a lot but I keep clear and keep it simple these days. Any problems I will do a factory reset and if problems still arise I will reset without restoring data.
Wifi calling was not working on mine after updating but this was down to vodafone rather than google and it's sorted now.
Nice hearing comments like thick as pig manure on here
I ended up re-setting the phone and restoring from a backup.
That was fun
Still had lost of settings to sort out and for some reason it didn't back up my custom sounds so has to re-install all of those.
Alas the phone is still misbehaving a bit so I hope Google push out some fixes for these issues soon.
if you unlock your bootloader you can then easily roll back to P
I sure hope Google release a fix for this soon, using my Pixel 3XL has become a real pain since the update to 10
OK so now apps on my phone have stopped responding to touch.
It is now taking me multiple presses to get them to open.
I am having to re-start my phone multiple times just to get a bit of functionality back.

Nope, I have done a clean restore as well.
Also the apps that are playing up and not responding to touch are Googles built in apps, like the messaging app for instance, so it is not just a third party app issue either.

OK please bear in mind I'm new at this but.....
.... is it possible to downgrade to Pie by "side-loading" OTA using ADP? (I have no idea what any of that means )
I just want to check that is possible before I give it go
Oh and is there anything "special" I should do or pay attention to?
Thanks in advance
