No..
Always on diplay is only efficent in AMOLED displays..which are present in Pixel, Samsung etc
This phone has ips display which means always on display is not battery efficient.
I dont think kernel can make much difference.

Google : "AMOLED vs LCD difference" and you will later understand why nobody gonna do that.

[Q] Best CM10.1 Auto Brightness Levels?

I have no clue how to use the Auto Brightness feature on CM10.1 because every time I look configurations, they use Lux or an older version of the CM autobrightness.
In CM10.1 the auto brightness is modified with a slider going from 0% to 100%. Does anybody know how this works or have the best settings for battery life and viewability?

O.K. Now could you explain how modifying the auto brightness works? I have not a single clue how to make it better and I feel like if I modify anything without knowing everything that it will be the opposite result and screw me over
You've just for to experiment with the settings to your own eye. I can't really explain how to do that other than to use a "control" picture and experiment.

Fingerprint wake up?

Is it possible to set it 1st download an app to be able to wake up the screen with the fingerprint sensor without pushing power button first?
Yes. This is possible but i think there is no app for this function. because it's a kernel function.
so you need to tweak to kernel before this will work.
Oh OK.... Is there a rom that has this function?
No. It must be configured in the Kernel, not Rom's part.
They asked Steffan if he could... He said he could... But he wont because he wants to make a better battery performance kernel and, with this feature, the power consumption would be higher

I never said anything like that
Where did you read this?
I don't even know how to implement fingerprint-wakeup, because I haven't even looked into that yet.

Thanks for the clarification.
Please stop saying things that are not true.
So for the moment: fingerprint wakeup is not possible.

Neither did I say that I am able to implement the feature, nor did I say, that such a feature would increase power consumption.

Exactly, currently it is not possible and noone ever said it was - all I said was that it's a cool idea, but I don't have the time too look into it.
To clarify it :
It is not possible to code the fingerprint sensor that it would unlock/lock the screen. Look at the fp folder and apk. Decompile the apk . you will see.. This can't work. Even if it is possible via kernel it would not work ,related to the fp.apk

I had the Ulefone Power for a short time and there it worked (unlocking the phone with fingerprint when screen off).
But battery consumption went up because fingerprint service was enabled all the time and I got horrible wakelocks and my device was "active" all the time and did not go into deep sleep. So I guess it's better the way it is now.

This looks like a bad implementation then. Usually it shouldn't drain much more power because the CPU can easily handle hardware interrupts coming from the fingerprint sensor so it doesn't have to be awake all the time. Internally it is the same as if a button was pressed with the only difference that the fingerprint reader has to stay online all the time.

There is no point enabling it, as the AOD is basically only for AMOLED and not IPS displays.

Stop it, I don't f... care, my question is clear
It's not only for AMOLED displays, it's just a piece of software not bound to the hardware
The option is not available on phones with IPS screens... Simply cause there's no point.
No, there's no always on option on Miui 11 with LCD screens as that would make no sense.

Question Black crush on custom roms

I haven't seen this question answered anywhere. If we assume correctly that black crush is software issue, does it mean custom roms shouldn't have it? Has anyone who tried one can confirm that this is the case?
it isn't fixed in custom ROM's either man.

EDIT: Wait, that was you. So it isn't fixed after all?
nope, but using the screen balance app will do the trick for now

Using another app to fix screen problems is not a good solution. This probably means that it's actual hardware issue, which is sad

Did you try playing a video with dark scenes? I barely had any issues with lockscreen, mainly on apps like youtube.
it's easier actually, just open a pic perfect black with something shiny/colored, and then zoom in and out, watch the black around that white/color. "works" for me on max brightness to replicate it.
the custom roms make it much less visible compared to miui though, and reducing the brightness to something sensible is always a good idea. on auto brightness i can't see it ever.
it's probably a hardware issue or smth in the display driver. but tbh it's not a big deal during every day use.

Yeah, it isn't a big issue or I would return it and buy the phone I wanted before this (Note 10 pro). But the fact is, there is an issue and it's sad that they allowed it to happen to upper midrange phone.
