Is it possible to set it 1st download an app to be able to wake up the screen with the fingerprint sensor without pushing power button first?
Yes. This is possible but i think there is no app for this function. because it's a kernel function.
so you need to tweak to kernel before this will work.
Oh OK.... Is there a rom that has this function?
No. It must be configured in the Kernel, not Rom's part.
They asked Steffan if he could... He said he could... But he wont because he wants to make a better battery performance kernel and, with this feature, the power consumption would be higher

I don't even know how to implement fingerprint-wakeup, because I haven't even looked into that yet.

Neither did I say that I am able to implement the feature, nor did I say, that such a feature would increase power consumption.

Exactly, currently it is not possible and noone ever said it was - all I said was that it's a cool idea, but I don't have the time too look into it.
To clarify it :
It is not possible to code the fingerprint sensor that it would unlock/lock the screen. Look at the fp folder and apk. Decompile the apk . you will see.. This can't work. Even if it is possible via kernel it would not work ,related to the fp.apk

I had the Ulefone Power for a short time and there it worked (unlocking the phone with fingerprint when screen off).
But battery consumption went up because fingerprint service was enabled all the time and I got horrible wakelocks and my device was "active" all the time and did not go into deep sleep. So I guess it's better the way it is now.

This looks like a bad implementation then. Usually it shouldn't drain much more power because the CPU can easily handle hardware interrupts coming from the fingerprint sensor so it doesn't have to be awake all the time. Internally it is the same as if a button was pressed with the only difference that the fingerprint reader has to stay online all the time.

Yeah, the title says it all. Does anyone have a zip file that wakes and unlocks the phone by pressing the trackpad twice?
Have looked around but there are no mods for Sense.
Thanks

I think the problem with this one is that it's kernel specific?
I know it's quite simple to just flash a .zip in order to just wake using the buttons, but wake AND unlock seems to be more difficult...

There are only versions for MCR 3.1 there.
Somewhere the same for FroYo?
I think the source needs to be released by HTC first so we can integrate the mod into newer kernels. The same applies to overclocking Sense roms. We need the source.
No idea when it will arrive either
Ok, thanks
Sorry, perhaps I misunderstand the question. By using trackpad you mean that optical sensor? I don't understand what is in these linked packages, and why there is a broadcom Wifi module and god knows what included....
To activate the button in the middle, you just need to add /system/usr/keylayout/curcial-oj.kl. Grab it from some ready made ROM.
Why would anyone want wake from optical joypad???
That's annoying! What's wrong with lockscreens. (also, the phone will activate in the pocket!)

No, it won't activate in the pocket. I've been using trackpad wake for about 3 months and I've never woken up the phone unintentionally. The power button, on the other hand, is quite easy to press by accident...

Good job!! I love the app, the concept is great. I think the idea is better than Samsung's Smart Stay(or something like that) that never worked well enough for me. I'd surely use this app daily when it's finished. I didn't vote on the playstore because it needs some more development.
Here's a major bug I encountered: It sometimes doesn't work until you switch the feature off and on again, and switch between apps.
Also the sensibility is kinda low, i think ot should be higher(or maybe let the user select some kind of levels?).
Anyways, I call this app a good example of great use of a smartphone's sensor.
I have a question, does this app only work on Samsung devices? if not, I think you should make a thread in a general forum so any people can give you feedback, not only s3 owners.
I'm a student developer, so I hope I will submit an app to the store soon.
Cheers!!:good:
Thank you for the valuable feedback....
Its a strange issue..! Will definitely look in to the issue
When you said its not working are telling based on the Message you see on the screen when you open the app..if so that message will be displayed only for the first launch of the app.
right now sensitivity is at the best lowest as possible
you need not move the device slight angle change will also be considered
Good Luck with you app
and this will support all phones running android 4.0 and above

I'm sorry, I forgot to tell you what I meant by "it doesn't work".
Well...sometimes the screen just forgets to turn off, even if phone is on the table.
About the sensibility, I think the app should detect a trembling hand, so it knows you're holding the phone. It's just a suggestion, I don't know how practical this would be.

Yes it is, the screen timeout was actually 15 secons...just for testing. But the screen just refused to turn off while on the selected app. So I had tu turn the app off and on again few times till it worked. I think it's only the first time, after you install the app, I'm not sure. But it happened more tan once. Needs more testing.

It happened to me again. The default timeout was 15 seconds. I just started Word app and kept the phone still. But the screen just refused to turn off(I waited 2 minutes). I solved this by turning the app off and on and switching between timeout times. However, it may be a rom bug (I'm running a cm12 based rom), as I found out it happens even after I turn off the app.
Good luck!!

Samsung must work on software that controlling FP nodule.

The nice lock lockscreen is indeed more agile than the stock one, but it does not improve the fingerprint scanner, just the speed up the unlocking process. My guess is that's lighter than the stock one.
Speaking of lock star, changing the task changer to carrousel, scale animation and toggling the mini mode makes a huge difference on the overall smoothnes of the device too, I recommend you to try it.
You are a very young user of this community and you must learn more. If you browse this forum you will notice, that many users already reported that they have found God blessed remedy for A50 fingerprint. As time passed it appeared, that it was only temporarily. A50 is working in strange manner: many times in row perfectly and next suddenly degrading performance.
The gold thought here is: what is good for me not necessarily is good for me and vice versa.
We do not know why FB is so erratic. Maybe it is hardware problem. Maybe your skin is genetically softer then other. Maybe in your place air humidity is higher or lower and that is why it helped personally you but it doeas not mean it will help anyone else.

OnePlus Lift To Wake
TL, DR. Where is the download?
github.com/xubowenhaoren/OPLiftToWake/releases
What does it do?
This is a simple app to enable Lift To Wake for OnePlus 7 series.
It is not the Lift To "Ambient Display" in the stock Settings App; it enables the true Lift To "Lock Screen" like other phones.
Why do I want this feature?
You've probably already known that OnePlus, in Android 10, reveals the notification content on the lock screen after Face Unlock.
But to see those notifications, you either need to:
1. Pick up the phone and unlock with your finger at the Ambient Display. A two-step process.
2. Pick up the phone and press the power button. Again, a two-step process.
Now with the app, you can pick up the phone and the lock screen immediately shows up.
How does it do this?
It listens to the native system sensor (`oneplus.sensor.pickup`). In my testing, it is very power efficient.
What phones does it support?
I have tested this on a OnePlus 7T with Android 10. It should also work with other OnePlus 7 series.
Note that for earlier OnePlus phones, there is also a [pickup sensor] but with a different name.
If you want this app to work with earlier OnePlus phones, you should try replacing this line in `Utils.java` with the correct sensor name:
```
mSensor = Utils.getSensor(context, mSensorManager, "oneplus.sensor.pickup");
```
How do I use it?
You probably want to turn off the Ambient Display first.
After installing the app, turn on the "Lift To Wake" toggle.
You should also consider turning off the battery optimization of the app for a more consistent background performance.
Do I need Magisk for this?
No, it is root-free.
Credits
Much of the code is from the Lineage OS team.
Other code references can be found in the code comments.
This is brilliant!! Appears to be working great... Will provide an update on power efficiency in a while

I've made efforts to enable this service after reboot. It wasn't successful, however. Oxygen OS has a strict whitelist of apps that may start automatically after a reboot. One way to work around this is to use Accessibility Service, but that could cause more battery drain. Lol, I think it's better to leave things this way.
Very useful app, this was my most demanding functionality after bought OP7T
Thank You For this
Can u add to the store please?
Nice app. Thnks
It works great for op7t, but doesn't work for Op7.
On op7, the screen lights up, but faceunlock is not available.
You need to click on faceicon first to work (screens in atach).
But, if you unlock op7 via the power button (second screen in atach) - faceunlcok works great!
Is there any solutions for op7?
Works as it should! But screen wakes a lot while inside the pocket.
Very useful mod, thx for that
Only issue that it doesn't work anymore after some hours,i need to start the app again to get it working again for a few hours. I already have disabled battery optimisation. Any ideas to fix this?
Regards ysco..
Hello, how can i make it work on Oneplus 8?
This app is great, something I've been looking for a while. But, it doesn't work consistently. It stops after a few hours after I enable it. Then I have to open the app and then it will 'realize' the switch is still on and start working again. Is there a solution for this?
Thanks bud!! It works like a charm!!
Looks really helpful.
Works good also.
Thanks.

Hi, i was wondering if its possible to port the face recognition option we used to have on older android versions as a mod on the pixel 6 pro. I believe they used the front camera.
Are there any accuracy problems associated with using front camera?
I just needed a faster option to unlock at work as my hands get kinda dirty and the FP sensor on pixel 6 is sensitive to dust unlike the one on my pixel 3 XL (RIP legend).
If there is a solution that exists already, please forgive my naivety and point me to the thread/discussion for it. Thank you!
I don't think there is currently a solution and I doubt there will be unless Google includes it later.
Can you use smart unlock, with your works WiFi? Or location unlock if it has that?
There were reports that FaceID is in the code, but that it was not used on the P6 because it drains the battery. Since the battery is not great as is, I can see the point. I also wonder how secure it is, as Apple uses dedicated hardware to ensure security (thus the notch), but Google seems to rely on the camera alone -- I assume it's a more secure unlock than the totally inon-secure fake FaceID unlocks on many Chinese phones, like Xiaomi.
On another note, I am trying to use my Garmin watch as a trusted device, but about half the time it doesn't work and the phone would ask for PIN. The trusted device implementation, at least with a watch, is kind of a joke, so I am thinking of disabling it at this point.
I am using Trusted Location. Seems like its working fine. Google 'begs' to have you turn 'on' location function for several of its niceties to work. So security joins the growing pile.

Was about to say this. Wifi/Location unlocking when at work is not a good idea.
There is a reason why we lock our phones, and no human is perfect - you might forget it for a moment, or get distracted - whatever.
If someone doesn't care for security in any way (I am perfect & my phone will 24/7 stay on me, no matter what) then he/she/is doesn't need any sort of security active in the first place.

Nononono, wrong approach. You do NOT want to bypass phone security. You want to integrate into it. Android is an open source operating system, just find the code where the 4 included unlock mechanisms are defined (swipe/pattern/pin/password), and add your own in the same way.

Fax cus I'm sure that "don't turn off screen if I'm looking at it" feature uses battery and it's ALWAYS ON when you're on your phone if you turn it on. Face ID only on when you use it, how can that even affect battery ?
Pixel 5 has face ID on one of the custom Roms, can't remember which one though.

But is it a secure lock like Apple's Face-ID or is it a gimmick like on the various Chinese phones, that's more for "entertainment purposes only?"

Nononono, wrong approach. You do NOT want to bypass phone security. You want to integrate into it. Android is an open source operating system, just find the code where the 4 included unlock mechanisms are defined (swipe/pattern/pin/password), and add your own in the same way.

Yes that is a better way of looking at it. Thank you for the insight!

Root option to enable a Quick Setting to enable/disable lock - if that's possible?

That would basically mean i have no security when i disable it, only that i would be able to do so faster haha

Yeah but it would only be looking for one thing. Maybe all the battery used on image processing for FaceID adds up over the many unlocks during the course of the day. Thats why i am keen to have it enabled only while I'm at work as the FP works fine in all other circumstances.
