Redmi 5A charging time - Xiaomi Redmi 5A Questions & Answers

Currently redmi 5a takes huge time for charging to 100%.
Is there is alternative method available to speed up charging without much damage to battery
Thanks in advance

Sure, try a Custom ROM with Qualcomm Fast Charging support. There are some ROMs here enabled Qualcomm Fast Charging. That might help you.

YU Yureka Battery Issue slow charging possible solution..!!

Disclamier:
I will say it first itself i will not be responsible for
->Battery explotion
->Burning of your phone
->Explotion of ur charger
->or any other damage
you are doing this at your own risk
Problem:
1.The battery in yureka is only 2500mah its very disappointing.
2.The charging time of the Yu Yureka is of 4hr from 0%to 100%.:fingers-crossed:
3.The charger which came with the yureka is only 1A disappointing it only charges conventionally.
4.Even while using a 2A charger it only reduces the time to roughly about 3.hr and more. but heating a little.
Solution:
1.Our chipset support quickcharge 2.0 which charges ones battery from 0% to 60% in 30 min with certified 3A quickcharge 2.0 charger.
2.Whereas In quickcharge 1.0 it charges battery from 0% to 30% in 30min with an 2A charger. Our yurekas chipset supports both these technologies.,for safe purpose and to avoid over heating i recomment a 2A charger.:good:
3.To make it effective follow the below steps.
4.We have to root our yureka phone and install a custom Kernal with quickcharge technology 2.0.
5.To further improve the charging rate i recommend a 2A charger it is very cheap (e.g)Samsung S4 or S5 which is 2A is about 250Rs only.
6.With this U will have greater charging speed i approximately can say the time will be with in 2hr at MAX.:good:]
I hav a galaxy tab charger which reads 2.5A..... Will it work well??
have you tried yourself before posting ?
If not ...don't post !
If possible charge phone after switching off ur phone or atleast restart phone once a day it helped my brother he also own yureka
Done Everything...
I had already tried all that u said......im really tired changing kernel but no improvement.....my phone shows 4 days to full charge..(amazing isnt it ) .......Anything else u can suggest
I am having same problem
Best solutions is for Rooted Yureka users install Purify & Greenify App. Best for Battery Backup & Charges Fast

You'll be fine using that charger, but you may not see charging speeds as quick as the original charger.
But on that charger are even normal charging ports..which is better to use?
Tnx
You should be fine but it's worth noting that Google suggests only using the power charger that came with the device.
Google's Battery lifespan, charging & usage tips
1. Use the power adaptor and charger that came with your device
Other chargers can charge slowly, not at all or damage your device or battery.
2. Keep it cool
Avoid situations where your device can overheat. Your battery will drain much faster when it's hot, even if you're not using it, and this can even damage your battery. Bear in mind that your device warms up when it's plugged in, so try not to keep it charging all the time.
3. Don't worry about calibrating the battery
You don't need to teach your device how much capacity the battery has by going from totally charged to completely drained.
4. Keep it more than half charged
For the best battery lifespan, try to keep your battery charged above 50% as much as possible.
5. Try to charge a little at a time
Small charges throughout the day are best for battery health. Battery lifespan can suffer if it's charged from zero to full and then completely drained on a regular basis.
6. Store your device half charged
Leave the device with a half-full battery if it needs to be stored for a long time.

Any way to disable fast charge?

Anyone knows if is any way to disable fast charge?
Dont like fast charge since is worst for battery life.
For Battery Life is fine. This model dont have any fast charge or something similar. The charger included its fine and cant damage the battery.
Do not mix stanrdard fast charging (=being able to suck more than 1A from the charger) and QuickCharge (Qualcomm charging technology, involving e.g temporarily increase of charging voltage well above 5V and charging current well above 2A). A2 Lite is able to fast charge, just use Ampere or similar software and you see how much current it takes.
To the OP: I read that some custom kernels have this possibility, but no idea if any of few customs roms for our device has this capability. By using external software you can limit battery charge to e.g 80%, which would help a bit, or simply use one of old chargers, which could push around 500-700 mA max.
I'm using this magisk module: https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk/module-magic-charging-switch-cs-v2017-9-t3668427
Basically it helps to extend battery life by limiting the maximum charge, charging the phone slowly on certain range of battery level or when the battery reaches certain temperature.

I wondered about this too. If you're not in a hurry (say, charging overnight) then maybe the slower charge will ensure optimum battery life.
I find that using a long (2M), cheap charging cable prevents fast charge!
That's understandable because the electrical resistance will be higher than a short/quality cable, so limits the charging current.

Accubaterry app does that without root. (i think)
About fastcharging with 5v2a i think that isn't so bad for battery. (battery on my phone doesnt even really warm up)
There were some problems, on my previous phone with quickcharge. (and phone was really hot after charging)
And battery was already almost 2years old. And with using quickcharger it got really bad battery in few months.

Accubattery only can warning you about the % charge, but still charging, to stop the charge needs root, since the control file is on system partition.

Charging stuck at 98%

Since I received the band, I can't get past 98% when charging. Tried charging from 30%, 60%, putting it on charger several times when at 98%, but I've never seen 100%. It doesn't have impact on battery life, just my slight OCD suffers I'm using 2A wall charger, so it should provide plenty of current. Any ideas except completely draining the band? I would like to avoid it as it damaged the steps counter when I completely drained the batter on Mi Band 2 (had to completely discharge it again to fix it).
Of no help whatsoever, but mine is also stuck at 98%. Fully discharging the battery does NOT cure the problem, so I have left feedback on the Mi FIT app. Everyone needs to do the same

Well, at least we know that trying the complete discharge doesn't help and that I'm not the only one with this problem. I sent the feedback, even though I doubt that it will be fixed. But maybe Xiaomi will surprise us..

No, if enough people have the same problem - and report it - something will be done. Most of the new features we have on the Mi Band 4, were added after they received feedback about the disastrous Mi Band 3
I just got one and have the same issue. Glad I'm not the only one! I'll submit a report to Xiaomi.
Funnily, I was able to charge to 100% two times recently. No idea what was different then, but my last charge was again only to 98%.. Go figure.
I have the same problem!!!
Hello friends!!! I'm from Brazil and recently my mi 4 band started giving the same problem. at first she only carried up to 99 and yesterday when I went to load noticed that she only went to 95 so this making me nervous, because it only makes 7 months I am using this smartband not want to believe that her life is already beginning to come to an end in less than one year. Today I sent a report on the issue by mi fit as you indicated. now only remains to know if the problem is software or hardware. the good thing is that even with this inconvenience, I can use it for 13 business days until the next charging. never let it discharge completely and always carry it when it arrives in their 13 battery.
Same problem but mine is stuck at 99%

Mine gets stuck at 99%
there was a firmware update in 22/2/2020 did it fix the problem for you ??
Mine is also stuck at 98%. I was able to charge it up the first time to 100% but then it started to go only to 98... Well I guess it's better than to charge only to 50% :silly:
I notice the same thing when I use my external charger. If I connect it to my laptop or directly via wall plug, it gets a full 100 charge. Might want to check that!
Failed to load into a USB 3.0 port

Good evening!!! I connected my Mi Band 4 to the USB 3.0 port on my PC. She had 12% battery power and I left it there charging for almost 3 hours and when I went to see it it had only charged up to 98%. Can you only charge it on USB 2.0 ports? How many hours do you leave your smartband charging on your notebook's USB port?

No difference in my case, I tried several chargers (500mA, 1A, 2A) or USB ports (v2, v3). It stayed stuck at 98%. Every now and then it charges to 100%, but it's totally random, most of the times I can't get past 98%.

I'm not quite sure, but definitely much less than 3 hours! Sorry I can't be more of help.
I have the same problem. So there is no solution at moment
I managed to make the Mi Band 4 load up to 100%

Solved issue with 99% charge and drop to 84-5% after couple minutes with your guide. Thanks.
Formated Redmi Band 4, put for charging with original USB cable charger and original Xiaomi charger, 5V-2A, 10W for Redmi 4X mobil phone. Worked, charged to 100% and vibrated when reached 100%. I had this issue from 2020 and came with last update.

Question Battery longevity

Hi Guys,
I recently purchased Poco f3 and with it's 33watt charging I am bit concerned about the longevity of the battery as it gets warm when charging. Can I use my samsung S10's 15W charger or can we get a custom rom which can charge the phone at 15W?

If you are planning to keep this phone for the next 2-3 years then using a slow charger makes sense. I use a 10watt charger on regular basis and use a fast charger as an exception. I think 10-18 should be fine for longevity. On a side note- I don't feel my phone gets warmer after 12.5 at fast charging.

That's odd. Mine gets warm Everytime I use the 33W charger. From now on I'll use the S10 charger
