Since I received the band, I can't get past 98% when charging. Tried charging from 30%, 60%, putting it on charger several times when at 98%, but I've never seen 100%. It doesn't have impact on battery life, just my slight OCD suffers I'm using 2A wall charger, so it should provide plenty of current. Any ideas except completely draining the band? I would like to avoid it as it damaged the steps counter when I completely drained the batter on Mi Band 2 (had to completely discharge it again to fix it).
Of no help whatsoever, but mine is also stuck at 98%. Fully discharging the battery does NOT cure the problem, so I have left feedback on the Mi FIT app. Everyone needs to do the same

Well, at least we know that trying the complete discharge doesn't help and that I'm not the only one with this problem. I sent the feedback, even though I doubt that it will be fixed. But maybe Xiaomi will surprise us..

No, if enough people have the same problem - and report it - something will be done. Most of the new features we have on the Mi Band 4, were added after they received feedback about the disastrous Mi Band 3
I just got one and have the same issue. Glad I'm not the only one! I'll submit a report to Xiaomi.
Funnily, I was able to charge to 100% two times recently. No idea what was different then, but my last charge was again only to 98%.. Go figure.
I have the same problem!!!
Hello friends!!! I'm from Brazil and recently my mi 4 band started giving the same problem. at first she only carried up to 99 and yesterday when I went to load noticed that she only went to 95 so this making me nervous, because it only makes 7 months I am using this smartband not want to believe that her life is already beginning to come to an end in less than one year. Today I sent a report on the issue by mi fit as you indicated. now only remains to know if the problem is software or hardware. the good thing is that even with this inconvenience, I can use it for 13 business days until the next charging. never let it discharge completely and always carry it when it arrives in their 13 battery.
Same problem but mine is stuck at 99%

there was a firmware update in 22/2/2020 did it fix the problem for you ??
Mine is also stuck at 98%. I was able to charge it up the first time to 100% but then it started to go only to 98... Well I guess it's better than to charge only to 50% :silly:
I notice the same thing when I use my external charger. If I connect it to my laptop or directly via wall plug, it gets a full 100 charge. Might want to check that!

Good evening!!! I connected my Mi Band 4 to the USB 3.0 port on my PC. She had 12% battery power and I left it there charging for almost 3 hours and when I went to see it it had only charged up to 98%. Can you only charge it on USB 2.0 ports? How many hours do you leave your smartband charging on your notebook's USB port?

No difference in my case, I tried several chargers (500mA, 1A, 2A) or USB ports (v2, v3). It stayed stuck at 98%. Every now and then it charges to 100%, but it's totally random, most of the times I can't get past 98%.

Solved issue with 99% charge and drop to 84-5% after couple minutes with your guide. Thanks.
Formated Redmi Band 4, put for charging with original USB cable charger and original Xiaomi charger, 5V-2A, 10W for Redmi 4X mobil phone. Worked, charged to 100% and vibrated when reached 100%. I had this issue from 2020 and came with last update.

Guys this issue is annoying me. My device is having some charging problems. I have measured the charging time for last two charges, and its taking 3 hours 40 mins for 10% to 100%, and 4 hours from 0% to 100%. Where most people are saying it takes around 3 hours, from a complete drain to full 100%.
So have any of you guys ever measured the actual time of charging? A lots of comments I see say around this or around that, or from 2 hours to 3 hours, well that's not what I need. If anyone has measured the time then please post here. I'm thinking about going to SC, but I don't wanna go there until I'm totally sure that there is a problem.
PS: I'm talking about Stock charger, (2A) plugged in AC power source. And device should be on, not off.
Btw- There should be a technical answer to this, the charging current is 2A and the battery is 3100 mAh, so how could I do the math?
Thanks in advance.

I don't know the math stuff but why don't you try calibrating the battery - worth trying !
Knowing that info is only half the truth. How the phone charges the battery and how much energy your phone uses during the charge matters too.

The time taken to charge is a pretty simple mathematical formula. But the rest of the calculation is complicated.
If you phone is on, how bright is the screen, is the display on or off, are you on wifi or network data, are you syncing email every 15 minutes or every hour, are you using the phone to send messages during charge, have you got gmail, dropbox, facebook, instagram, whatsapp, etc etc etc all doing a sync at regular intervals during the charge?
All of those things will use up some of the charge as its going in, so the charger is fighting against you.
I've been charging off usb at work and struggled to gain 20% in 8 hours because of my usage pattern.
Theoretical time for charge is about 1:30 hrs. Reality, start and ending charge should slow down (for safety), heat slow downs, plus usage of phone as spoken above I guess it could take up to 3 hrs.
It's not great to do a full charge regularly. I tend to keep mine between 40-90% for maximum life cycle of battery.
Perhaps try resetting battery stats? Try a different 2a charger?

Mine takes 2.5 hrs to charge from 10% to 100% with phone on using stock wall charger and cable (when charged continuosly with no activity on phone). It charged from 1% to 96% in 2.5 hrs with phone switched off (switched it on exactly after 2.5 hrs to check). But, usually i avoid charging my phones to full 100% (also always charge it when at 10%).

Try with another note 2 charger first. The thing with these chargers is they will behave erratically when there is voltage fluctuation or if you use in a train and other cases. So go to SC and tell them its taking almost double time for me to get charged. They will replace the charger as well the cable. My cousin has the same problem with s3. He got it replaced by the SC.

Thanks Chaitanya. But the SC guys are so stupid here. First thing they do always are to take the phone in their custody and deal with it badly. Still I will ask them to replace the charger and check.
Some of us have noted that if you let the screen time out and not manually shut screen off after connecting the charger. ..The charging is faster. . If you manually shut off the screen. .. The charging is slow.... It is weird but don't know why. .it definitely is happening

Op: I said theoretical it will take 1:30.. Realistically it should slow down during stages due to safety reasons.
Mine took probably 3 hours the other day I ran it down, but this was combination of using 1a and 2a charger.
I think on the note 2 it doesn't ramp up power till it gets to 20-30%. Took a while to get there from 2%. If only battery widget was working on the note 2..then I could confirm.

Are you using the charger that came with Note2 ? I was using my old blackberry charger and it took for ever to charge the phone.
The output of the Note2's charger is more than twice the output of my blackberry charger.
^ Yeah, of course I am using the stock charger that came with Note 2! I'd not create this topic if I had used another charger.
Anyway, after a long week in Service Center now my phone is back, they provided me a new charging adapter (not the cable) and I was very happy because I thought everything will be smooth and like before but guess what? No improvement. It's still taking long! I just measured it for 30 mins exactly, it went from 70 to 83%, i.e 13%, where it should be 24% as stated in this thread,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=33585646&postcount=31
Now I am really angry. I will try with another Note 2 USB cable first, if that fails, there is something wrong with the device, I guess?

I really don't think it's your device or your battery for that matter. I have a question as well (sorry to hijack...). When you were charging it for 30 mins, were you using it? Was the screen off or the phone totally turned off? I noticed one night that I had an email notification and the phone did not charge because the notification LED was on all night while I slept and it was plugged into my 1A Samsung charger from my original Note. I have yet to check if the charging disconnects itself if the LED comes on. I don't even know if the phone charges at all if the screen is on either. Can anyone confirm? I guess I'll try it out tonight! The battery last forever I got to admit, perhaps most of the time I'm slow charging it at 1A max with the original Note's charger? I guess it does the battery some good
Thanks a bunch!
No pal I am not using the device while charging (because I am testing and measuring the times, that's why I restrain myself from touching it), and it's on, not off.
Anyway, yesterday I went to a friend's home and found he has a Samsung ACE and has same USB port like Note's and I was carrying the charging adapter, so I took that Ace's cable and plugged in to my Note's adapter and let it charge for an hour, and I was amazed and happy to see that it increased 38% in 60 mins. Well this tells me that the USB cable of my Note 2 is gone to heaven.
And oh, if you charge and use the device at the same time it will charge pretty fast even then too. I can confirm this when I first got the device, always was using it and charging, and I was surprised to even then how fast it was charging.
I (and many other users) have similar problems with Galaxy S3. I've made an app that shows the actual charging current: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2076078
I'm not sure if it works on the Note 2, but it is worth a try.
Please check if your device is charging at the optimal charging current (I think it is 2000mA for the Note 2 charger, instead of 1000mA as pointed in the SGS3 thread).
Is everyone really getting the 50% charge in 30 mins? It feels like I am getting about 1% per 1 min of charge time on average. Not sure if that is normal or I have a defect somewhere? Also, is fast charging safe to use for every charge session or is it meant to be used once in a while for emergencies? Thank you.

Really? Did it charge like that from the very beginning or did it take a few charges to get to that speed? I think it takes me like 1.5-2 hrs from real low to full charge with fast charge enabled.

I used to get those insanely fast charge times; however, recently my phone has been charging slower (with fast charging on). Not only that, but, for some reason, the original wall adapter stopped working twice now. The first time it freaked me out because I thought my phone was messed up, but it turned out that everything was working except the adapter. Then later, I found out that if I reboot my phone with the adapter plugged into the wall, the charger will magically start working again! This worked for one or two charges. Today, I found that my phone was, again, charging extremely slow. Not only that, but my phone stopped charging after around 50% and the adapter is broken once more. I've tried the reboot thing three times and it didn't work again T: So now I'm kind of worried my phone might be defective?
Has this happened to anyone else with charging issues?

I haven't ran into anything like that yet. Who is your carrier? Maybe you can take in your charger and battery to get it replaced? Can you try charging with a different quick charging phone or something to narrow down if it's the phone or charger's fault?

Although I am fairly certain that my issue was the wall adapter portion of the charger, I just found it strange that the fast charging function failed to work properly around the same time when my wall adapter started to fail. Hopefully I am right and nothing else was wrong, but I thought that I would say something in-case I was wrong
As for getting it replaced... I bought my Verizon Note 4 at BestBuy off-contract and when I went there, they claimed to not have any in stock. They never really bothered to ask if I wanted to replace it even though I brought all my receipts and junk so I just took that as I wouldn't be getting a replacement haha :crying:
If anything I'll probably end up just buying another fast charger from samsung later, but for now slow charging is fine I guess. The fast charging did make both my device and charger hot, so maybe that was the problem?
edit:
I do not have any other quick charging devices (to my knowledge), but the wall adapter - combined with various other cables - continued to fail with my other phones as well.

Do you know if it's safe to use fast charge for every charge up? If it shortens battery life over time, I'd like to know this now and only use fast charge sparingly.
Yes. It shortens battery life. By using the only charger they give you, you essentially cut your battery life in half. It's a conspiracy by Samsung and the makers of the materials used the batteries

Pretty sure that was sarcasm. I'm less sure about your comment, though. ;P
I read it in American Android, first December issue. They did a study. Only way to avoid the battery dissipation was if you only used the fast charger at night, and Sundays after noon, but before 1pm PST. fascinating article. It's amazing what a group of students at Yale who love Android can actually accomplish.
I think I can work around that charging schedule. I am also going to subscribe to that magazine now.
Anyone else notice that with the supplied charger charging ins't what it should be. My iPhone 5 charged almost twice as fast as this phone. I find it kind of annoying. I did order one of these chargers hoping that solves the issue.

No its not. Especially when your using the phone and its on 5% plugged in. Takes forever to reach 6%.
I'm having literally no issues with charging from dead to 25% in about 15 minutes. 2 hours to 100% im very happy with the speed of charging and this is using my m8 charger as the m9 one is still sealed in box.

I've been using the GS4 charger, with a high output cable. The Samsung charger is 1.5A where the HTC m8/m9 charger is 1.0A
the supplied charger is definitely giving 1.5 amps to mine. charges up pretty quick. with a quickcharge 2.0 charger it's crazy fast to charge.
One thing to note is it will take a faster charge the lower the battery level is, which means more heat. if you're also gaming with it, you could be bumping against the battery charging cutoff temperature. I only ever saw this happen on my Tegra HOX+. IIRC HTC has the notification LED blink in alternating green and orange/red when this happens. I'm guessing you would have mentioned temperature in the OP if this was the case, but I figured I'd bring it up.

Sorry, meant it was 1.5a for HTC and 2.0a for the Samsung one. Didn't have them on hand to check.
iPhone 5 battery is 1,440 mAh... M9 battery is 2,840 mAh. 50% charge of Iphone battery doesn't equal 50% charge of M9 battery, in terms of charge time.
I believe the rate of charging to decrease while you use it to prevent the phone from overheating. (My M8 does this as well)
My stock charger is fast, and my quick charge 2.0 is crazy fast.

Yeah, this. I got an HTC Rapid Charger 2.0 for it just to be sure since I knew with certainty it's Quick Charge 2.0. In retrospect perhaps not the best move considering I'm essentially incentivising HTC for not including one in the box from the get go, but whatever.

Yup i got the same issue gonna take me 6-11hrs to charge and its very slow charging
I had a similar problem to OP. The second night I had my phone I plugged it in at 11 pm with about 5% battery left and went to bed. At 5:15 the next morning (6 hours later) it was only at 85%. I can't tell if there's still a problem or I just think there is because I'm paranoid about it now. I haven't run my battery down that low since, and looking at the charge current with Ampere seems somewhat inconclusive. I may have to run it down and then keep an eye on it while charging to see what's going on.
Something IS wrong with SOME M9 phones (I think)
I have one of the "bad" ones. Mine takes hours and hours to charge, whether on the cable and plug that came in the box, or on any others that I have around - some I know are 2 Amps. I think there is something seriously wrong with some of these phones, based on what I am reading in this thread, and on my own example. I have had my M9 for just a few days.
I'd like to post a follow up to this thread after having the phone for a couple of weeks now.
I've had several occurrences where my phone didn't fully charge overnight. The worst was a few days ago, I plugged it in at 5% and the next morning (6-8 hours) it was at 1%, it actually lost charge. I noticed before unplugging it so I looked at the history in Battery Widget Reborn and it showed the battery level just slowly dropped from 5% to 1% without any jumps or dips. The battery icon at the top of the screen showed it was charging but it died at that point so I didn't get a chance to open Ampere.
I think it's the charger (and/or the cable) that came with the phone. I've tried several other chargers that have all worked reliably:
- The QuickCharge 2.0 charger that came with my wife's S6 charges my phone really fast.
- I have a Kmashi external battery that also seems to charge it relatively quickly.
- Two older chargers that are several years old (both rated 5 volts at 0.7 amps) charge it from around 30% to full in 3-5 hours.
At first I thought it might have been a wakelock problem, but the battery has been dropping so slowly when the phone is just sitting in my pocket that I'm confident now that it's not wakelocks. I don't know if HTC is likely to send a replacement, but I'm going to stop into the Verizon store that I got the phone from to see if they'll replace it.

My phone is also odd when charging.
Half of the time it takes 6 hours or more to charge. If I look at GSAM battery monitor it shows a charge current of around 350mA. If I then unplug the charger and reconnect after 15 seconds I get over 1300mA charging current, most of the time. (It takes GSAM a while to show an accurate reading). Occasionally it will take a few tries to get it right. Once I get a good reading over 1300mA the phone will charge in 1.5 hours like it should.
Something very buggy about this phone's charging circuit. I get the same behaviour with all chargers and cables, even my battery bank.

Anyone else notice that with the supplied charger charging ins't what it should be. My iPhone 5 charged almost twice as fast as this phone. I find it kind of annoying. I did order one of these chargers hoping that solves the issue.

I use a 2A tablet charger from my hp touchpad. Charges from dead to 100% in 45 minutes.
For the past few days, I've noticed very slow charging on my Pixel even if it says "Charging Rapidly". However it would say it will take around 3 hours to fully charge. When fast charging works, usually clocks at 1 hour and 30 minutes.
I really don't know what can be causing the issue. It's the original charger, and cable. Normally removing the cable and putting it again would fix the issue but it's becoming a common thing for it to take 3 hours.
I remember a similar issue on my Nexus 9 and cleaning the cache would completely fix the issue, but the Pixel XL is missing the Wipe Cache option in the recovery.
Any similar experiences?
On the OEM included charger?

Yup.
Could try a factory reset.. probably the only software related solution. I can't remember, but Chainfire may have said that the cache.img was one of the things that got removed in 7.1 so I don't even know if you could wipe it if you wanted to. You could also hit up Google support... maybe they'll send you a new charger to try. Make sure you're using the OEM cable too, at least for now, until you figure it out.
I had this exact issue with mine, factory reset / charging in safe mode didn't work.
Turned out to be a faulty usb cable but Google insisted on replacing the entire package (handset etc) Replacement works fine

Well, thanks for the heads up! What sucks though is that it's type C to type C, I have some Type C to regular USB, I guess I'd have to buy one.

If it makes you feel any better, Google exchange process is amazing.
Raised the return on mine about 4pm and the replacement was on my desk 9am the next morning, they also give you 14 days to send your old one back so you're it without a phone.
I use ampere to see what the charging rate is and I don't feel like the fast charge is that fast.... My 6p charged at a faster rate and my pixel charges at a faster rate using my Choetech smart charger. I'm going to have to drain the battery and see how long it takes to fully charge with the stock charger

When I checked mine it was charging at something like 2600-2800 but i only watched it for a few minutes, might have gone higher

Yeah but they will most likely put a $769 hold on my card... :S
Some phones ie lg v10 do not "fast charge" while screen is on (while youre looking at it) to avoid overheating. Ampere cant show max charging rate. I use a usb sleeve (usb doctor) that displays that info or turn on notification display
EDIT: Supposedly Pixel do not fast charge while in use either.

I think I can confirm this. Last night mine showed 27 minutes to charge from about 50% but after keeping the screen awake for about 30 seconds, it went up to 51 minutes.
I also find my Pixel charges very slow as well even though it says Charging Rapidly (OEM charger, cable). The GSM Arena review said they went from 0% to 46% in 30 minutes, I get more like half of that at most. I used Ampere and it said i was only charging at 710 mA.....

If you charge it from almost empty it charges very quick, but slows down once it gets nearer to full

Yes i started charging my phone when it was 4%, and when i looked at it about 20 minutes later it was only at 16%. I think it took about 3 hours to fully charge. The only modification I've made to the phone is unlock the Verizon bootloader and flash the P software (which was subsequently updated to V). I'm seriously wondering if the charger or cable is defective.

Potentially, mine was and I had to get the whole thing replaced
My S20+ exynos is charging slowly. Its taking around 1 hr 40 min - 2 hr to charge from 5 to 100. Super fast charging is turned on and when i plug in it states 1 hr 10 min to charge. This seems to be happening from last 4-5 charge cycles. Phone is on latest software(ATCT). Any ideas what to do.
For me it takes 1h5m mostly (15%-100%)
Maybe do you have bad USB cable?
Tapatalk - SM-G986B
If you are using a cable other than what came with the phone, that is usually the culprit.

Bro I am facing the exact same issue on my galaxy S20 exynos. I think it is due to the April update installed, as I saw many comments regarding S20 ultras slow charging speed after the update. Anyways please let me know if you find a solution.

Maybe it's only recent or in certain regions? Either way it's clear it has some issues. I've noticed charging issues on ATCT myself
Funny... I've been thinking about *not* using the Samsung 25W charger that came with the phone and use an older sub-10W charger based on the idea that pumping huge current into the battery quickly prematurely shortens its life.
Plenty of articles talk about this.
The cynic in me thinks that manufacturers are pushing the convenience of warp/super/ultra/whatever fast charging knowing full well that users will F**K up their batteries at ever faster rates than before, thus creating a growing captive market for their latest mega-fast charging phones.
All my previous devices had replaceable batteries so I was less concerned with longevity, but having shelled out a not modest sum for the S20 (all my previous phones were superseded eBay items) I really want to get the longest life possible out of it.
I've got it plugged into an HP 1.5A USB charger and Accubattery thinks it should get from 35% to my target 80% in 1h16min, which I think is acceptable. I bought the fast travel charger and fast car charger at the same time, so I'll reserve these for "emergency" recharging and not use them by default.
Anyone else with similar thoughts?
It could be the April update. Mine says "Super fast charging" while I'm plugged into my 25W brick, BUT it only says "Cable charging" if I charge it through my laptop (USB-C) while previously it said "Fast charging". Has anybody experienced the same?

Bro I just found a solution. Not the best but it works. My phone heated like hell even when idle and of course while charging too which resulted in slow charging speed, so what I did is wrap a cold cotton cloth around it while charging to keep it cool, and boom 50% charged in 30 mins. Earlier it took 1 hour for 50% charge.
For the cold cloth, I wet a handkerchief and squeezed the water out, thus ensuring there is no water to deal any damage (although the phone is ip68 rated).
Of course this is not a permanent solution but it works.
Hope it helps :good:

I have the same problem and as pointed out by vanditsadaphale it is related with the temperature of the phone. Mine charges 30% in 30 minutes instead of 50% as advertised and always is > 35.0 degrees Celsius. Also a **** of battery life with screen on time at 5hrs after almost a day of use with 60 hz...
I have the same problem with my S20 snapdragon version ....
Before update:
Super charge and fast charge were fine with same cable and same charger (aftermarket one support 22watt charging)
After update:
With everything in BATTERY SETTING got ticked. It only charges at slowest speed.
Plugged into supercharging port - no response, no charging
Plugged into QC3.0 port - slow charging
