So camera doesn't work on 8.1 custom ROMs? Tried RR, it was very dark and I received a can't connect to the camera error, and on dotOS the image's normal, but I also received that error. I assume there are no workarounds for the lag before turning flashlight on?
EDIT: Nevermind, it started working after I disabled HDR. Sucks that I can't use it now.
EDIT 2: Only problem I noticed is WhatsApp Web's camera's laggy, so I'm currently unable to use it.

Hey what's up,
A. I don't recommended using dot (Its a blind build , which means a dev without the device is could be causing damage to your device not his)
B. Download Footej Camera
C. You could use this video
It enables hal3 latest cam api.
D.We are devs we have our lives we will fix as soon as we can.
Good luck let me know.

Flashing hal3 solved the camera on WhatsApp but also made normal camera app stop working, although Footej Camera works, as does HDR now. Flashlight also has no lag now, so it's all a matter of workarounds. Thanks for the help!

hi, when you say that "it could be causing damage to your device not his", can DotOs contain virus or only because the developer hasn´t the device?. Now I´m using DotOS and it works perfect for me, good battery, no major camera problems (sometimes a bit buggy on instagram with front camera) and stability.
DotOS is now being maintained again. Gotta figure out why I can't receive calls but am able to make them now.
EDIT: Had to stop using LTE and go back to using 3G for network. Also if anyone's having problems with TitaniumBackup, just select your microSD with DocumentProvider storage and it should work.

If this were true it wouldn't be allowed on xda
Anything that requires payment eg premium apps or anything that circumvents/hacks apps to allow free use is banned from xda
Some roms may take freely open source code from other roms and collate it into a single rom
Examples of this in the past have been paranoid android & open kang project
This is totally acceptable as it's open source
If you feel DotOs is breaking licensing rules or including paid for apps you should report it to the moderators for investigation

Open source is meant to be used in other projects - that's the whole point of being open sourced - Anyone can freely use & modify the code
There is nothing wrong with this
With regards to the images - These images maybe licenced - The paid app may have got these images from a licensed source to which DotOs may have also obtained them from
You would need to know who has the rights to these images
As long as the code of the theme is not used (if the code is not open sourced) or the apk of the theme has not been integrated, unless you can prove these images were designed & created by the theme makers & they own the copyright to these images you would have a hard job convincing me if I was a moderator
Report it & see what the response from xda is if you have concerns
Now the phone restarts whenever I take a photo. It may take some time for the app to crash and the interface restart, but soon after it restarts.

Haha its you that doesn't understand - let me give you the dictionary definition
open-source
denoting software for which the original source code is made freely available and may be redistributed and modified.
So by that definition it is perfectly acceptable to use open source coding, modify it & redistribute it under the same open source guidelines so by using other roms freely available open source code in your rom is perfectly acceptable
For example alot of roms use coding from lineageOS or omnirom
Please Google open source definition & terms of use for more details

You are so fixed into your view its unreal . Basically your saying people are aloud to copy and paste code from someone else and it fits under fair use of open source. It doesnt and its highly doomed on. Lineage OS and Omni both get credited and commits are kept within authorship. Even if its open source . Else you are stealing someone elses work.

Like I said - it needs to be distributed under the same terms as the original source
In your example you are talking about apache open source license
More details can be found
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Open-source_software
Apache licence guide is here
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apache_License
Like other free software licenses, the license allows the user of the software the freedom to use the software for any purpose, to distribute it, to modify it, and to distribute modified versions of the software, under the terms of the license, without concern for royalties.

The difference being in this licence any copyrighted trademark & names must be maintained
So you have the right to freely use distribute & modify any of the code as long as you provide the source for your changes & have shown the changes from the original source & you haven't changed or modified copyrighted or trademark parts without the original owners consent
This fits with your example of authorship

Hello forum,
i'd really like to enable my Z1c running Resurrection Remix 11-21-2015 (latest).
I would love to be able to record in 4k for a bit and some HFPS (120fps on low resolution) for various student film projects.
I know that there are camera mods for 4.4 and 5 but stock ROM only.
Would it be possible for someone to compile a mod that works for CM based ROMs (5.1)?
Currently i'm unsure if i'll stick with RR as there doesn't seem to be any more updates and i want to stretch the life of my phone as far as possible.
As the title says i can also pay a little (€ or USD) after an agreement.
Also i think it would be only fair to make the binary publicly available when there is one =)
Any help, tipps, corrections or contacts are welcome!

I liked project astoria bcoz it solved the app gap problem.
Many hackers here are able to hack W10M beyond levels. so I wanna know if there is any way to bring back. Android subsystem?
Maybe a copy past of the android subsytem file found in older builds? and some registery changes?

No, there is no way to bring Astoria back. It is hard blocked within the kernel, plus system policies prevent it from running.

Wait... What??? You mean to tell me that they disabled Hyper V "within the kernel"?
How would that even work? And why the hell would they go out of their way that much?
If a consumer can't easily enable it, it is essentially a non-issue to whatever concerns prompted them to disable it in the first place....
But, regardless of that, who cares? As soon as we have SecureBoot unlock, we can break out of the chain of trust and simply patch the Kernel. F U C K MS!

They might use the same kernel, but they can very well configure it in different ways. Especially for different architectures.

At one point, they completely blocked LXSS.sys from running in the kernel after 10571 (this COULD be changed since RS1, I haven't checked but still most likely the case. I'd love to be proved wrong on that one though ) . They also blocked loading of the aow.wim and the AOW runtime service in the kernel, the winload.efi and some other core files. They also pushed file system policies to prevent the execution of the aow.wim. I'll have to look back to see if I can find the exact policy changes, but it was already rolled up in 10571 on forward.
Also, I'm almost certain they put changes to block certain functions from executing in the case that lxss.sys was loaded.

Well, if what you say is correct, then it seems they thought of this as a security risk indeed.... But, all of these checks should be TRIVIAL to bypass after killing secure boot. Getting Astoria running is a different story of course. Windows 10 changes more often that longhorn under the hood...

This is a very interesting thread. I hope some of you are taking this project on. MS removing Project Astoria capabilities was a very poor decision, especially now in hindsight as there hasn't been much in the way of new and exciting apps for W10M. Having the capability to run Android Apps on a linux subsystem would help to keep many of us hold outs from defecting to other platforms. If someone is looking into this please start with the Lumia 950 series of devices if possible.

Or you just speculating with the irresponsible words on the public forum, looking for some cheap popularity?

Rest assured, *IF* it is accomplished, it will probably come to your device eventually.
Sony Mobile is committed to supporting the open developer community, and one way to show this is by publishing parts of our code as well as selected tools developed by our internal developers.
For some of the Xperia™ devices, we provide Android™ Open Source Project (AOSP) device configurations on GitHub. This means that the software will be open for you as a developer to use and contribute to. This is a way for us to support the open Android community, and it is also a tool for us to facilitate and verify contributions to AOSP.
If you want to build AOSP for your unlocked Xperia device, you find all the resources you need in the sections below.
https://developer.sony.com/develop/open-devices/
Unified 4.4 kernel sources
https://github.com/sonyxperiadev/kernel
Project git
https://github.com/sonyxperiadev/
Bug tracker
https://github.com/sonyxperiadev/bug_tracker/issues
Now you can build the latest Android with the latest 4.4 kernel
Thanks for all the hard work and keeping the resources easily accessible and up-to-date. I will be using them for sure .
Thank you for providing these resources and keeping up development for the devices they support. I notice that the dynamic resolution switch in the extended settings doesn't work on android 8.0 or 8.1. Are there any plans to add support for this back in at any point?

It says here that we can change the display to native 4K at 60hz or 1080 at 120hz with your AOSP https://androplus.org/Entry/4577/
The previous comment says it's not working in 8.0 or 8.1, but I don't see an open issue about it in your bug tracker. Was it fixed?
If it wasn't available for 8.0 and 8.1, what version is it available on?
I hope los and rr now.

Is there a changelog or something like that? I had issues with these binaries and AOSP builds from last week. A few days later I noticed a commit that mentioned these new binaries, but after that the "Fingerprint" setting is gone, so I'm now using a build of 08-03-2018 with the V10 binaries.
To be honest, I haven't tried a factory reset nor flashing userdata.img, so when I get home I'll update the repo, build a new version and do a full reset.
@jerpelea why Sony remove the FM radio feature on all modern Xperia phones? Why??? The hardware capability is there. Why you cripple the phone on purpose?
Can you please give a logical explanation about this issue?
When will Sony give me back this feature?
And why Sony block the Displayport alt mode? Again you cripple the phone on purpose.
And why I cannot root my phone without losing DRM keys? How to backup my DRM keys??? Please tell me.
I am waiting for answers but my patience is slowly running out.
Thanks Sony for being so user friendly.
If Sony don't fix these issues soon I will never buy Sony products ever again and I sell my Xperia's, my Playstations, my Walkmans, my Sony TV's and all my other Sony products. And I tell all the people that I know to do the same.
It's your choice Sony.

No. Some manufacturers actually care about their users. Not all smartphone manufacturers cripple the phone on purpose the way Sony does it.

For those very few who unlocked the bootloader of their 7.1 (e.g. through HikariCalyx), and want to enjoy Treble GSIs, this should help sweeten the experience a bit more.
This overlay was taken almost directly from PHH's overlay for Nokia 6.1 Plus, a very similar device, but the notch/cutout outline was replaced with one extracted from stock 7.1 ROM. As a result, it fixes notch (GSIs don't have notch provision by default), enables Always-on Display, fixes lowest screen brightness (?) and maybe does other things, I can't be 100% sure, but fixing the notch alone was good enough for me.
Just shove the attached APK into /vendor/overlay, set permissions 0644, reboot and voila.
And yeah, since this forum seems kinda desolate, I'll also attach a screenshot of the device running LOS16 GSI (self-built, not shared) below. It's actually quite usable, as far as I can tell the only device-related bug is that you'd need to eject/reinsert SIM on every reboot for the SIM to be recognized. Many LineageOS additions (e.g. Styles, LiveDisplay, Profiles) are broken (reason why I won't share the GSI at the moment), and Substratum currently errors out, but if you use AEX, PE, etc. and don't care about Substratum, then GSIs are in a good status.
That's nice @AndyYan,
please keep sharing progress, I'm interested to know when LineageOS for the 7.1 can be considered stable. (Not that I am really disappointed by the original ROM, it checks all boxes for me tbh)

I've already resolved aforementioned problem with the LOS-specific features and will post a thread in the Treble development subforum about it shortly.
To me, all that's left is Substratum. I can easily live with the rest.

I bought mine pre-unlocked, but you should contact Hikari Calyx about it.
Here's an updated version of the overlay that defines proper top/bottom rounded corners and landscape mode statusbar height - this would make the top corners show as rounded (instead of straight cut-off) when you choose "hide notch" in Developer options and simply looks natural.
Hi, Everyone,
Pixel 4 remove fingerprint sensor, but most of app did not update to newest biometrics api yet.
I build this module to proxy old fingerprint api to biometrics api .
You can use FaceID just like fingerprint.
Here is github link,
You should build apk by your self, it much safer.
but if you want buy me a coffee, here is google play link.
Hope you guys like it.
QA
Q. Is this module safely?
A. First, this app didn't have network permission. It can not send anything out.
Fingerprint api and biometrics api just receive authenticate request from app and tell app is authenticate success or not.
App will not sent any your data to those api.
Q. Magisk module
A. Use pure magisk to implement this feature need much work. I will working on it but it won't release soon.
This is actually a great idea until all the apps get the face is support. But how is the app i dont see any reviews on play store to?

It works, I just tried it. That being said...I won't use it because of the security flaw in face unlock. Great app, great idea, Google needs to fix things on their end.

Yeah if you could make a magisk module I'd buy

Excuse me? Do you not even understand the reasoning behind this? It's to prevent people from using this site to advertise their paid apps, using XDA to make money off of THEIR userbase.
How would you like it if every rom was paid? If every root method was paid? This community is about giving to each other, not for profit.
I do believe in donating to those who deserve it don't get me wrong, but that's not what this community was founded upon.
If you don't like the rules then you're welcome to leave.

Well then, that's up to the moderators to actually do their job and not to enforce an absolutist mentality. Personally, whether someone advertises their paid app here or somewhere else, the bottom line is to help the end user. So, by saying you need to post a free version actually inhibits quite a dew devs from sharing their work here, for that exact reason. Same goes for posting TG links. This site is supposed to help people as a whole, not dictate what they determine to be viable outlets. Leave that to the users to decide. I cant tell you how many well known devs are sick and tired of xda and their antiquated rules. Which is a shame, cuz they are actually pushing good devs away.
Would get in a heart beat if it was magisk. I don't use exposed nor do I want to.
Please make for magisk and I'm all over this. Would even pay double!
This is great! Works perfectly

If you have any concern, you can review source code and build apk by your self.
Paid apps are not permitted.
However, there is a paid software section but posting there requires that certain criteria are met.

I thought it was a great idea and jumped the gun. Didn't realize it was for xposed only when I bought it. There are no refund options.
