I was cleaning my phone Google Pixel 2 XL just a bit ago with a soft cloth and a can of compressed air. Now I would like to know why does my screen blow out of the housing when the can of air hits the camera flash. But also if you play music and spary air on the flash it distorts the audio. Now my wife also has the Pixel 2 XL and I tested this with hers and I get the same results. I don't believe for one moment it's water resistance let alone dust resistance. It's as if there is a gaping hole in the back of our phones. In the pic you can see the adhesive that should be holding the screen in place is pushed out by the volume rocker.

Hi
First of all the phones claim is it is water proof, not compressed air proof, and in order to stop the phone going pop at changes in air pressure or temperature it isn't hermetically sealed.
Blowing compressed air at the phone could see much higher pressure than water down to 1 metre could exert, so perhaps you have blown in the flash housing and broken the seal.
Also the picture of your phone looks as though it's been in a trouser pocket or similar or sat on and so has been bent as the glass of the display is lifted away from the frame, it is no longer water proof.
Regards
Phil

the phone has never been in a pocket holster only from day one so it's not bent I promise that. and i understand what your saying but there is no opening in the back. I have a DBrand skin and dust gets built up around camera and flash so I clean my investment cause I like my phone to look good I just stumbled across this and didn't think it was normal.

The amount of pressure per square inch you are exerting with a point blank blast of COMPRESSED air is FAR greater than the pressure per square inch exerted by 3 feet of water for 30 minutes.
The device isn't compressed air blast proof, it's waterproof
I too use compressed air once in a while... from about 8-10 inches away from the device.
In the photo I am close but normally I'm not I wanted my wife to get the screen

Bulge on camera. That's the only reason it's very close. But even at a few inches away it still does it. Thank you I understand know. I thought watertight was basically the same as air tight.

I broke the glass behind the bezel and in front of my camera. I've checked everywhere I can think of and can't find it. Does anyone know where I can find one?
I thought the glass was part of thw bezel?
Nope. If it was, all the ebay stuff would work. Unfortunately, no glass included. One more post and I can finally start helping in the dev section! By way of rigorously testing the roms and reporting every little issue

I tried googling for it but could only find the bezel. Your best bet would probably be to find broken inc phone cheap (good glass of course), and take the glass out of it and put it in yours. You could probably get it direct from htc, but who knows what they would charge you.
Back in August the entire glass element AND the bezel wouldn't stay on the phone, so I had to replace the entire back housing just for the lens.

Then a couple months after that, I dropped it from about 3 feet while sitting on a chair and cracked the lens. Been like that since, but it doesn't affect the photos as far as I can tell. Unless the sunlight is hitting it at just the right angle.
Also replaced the speaker 3 times, until I found out I can just use a magnet to pull metal shavings off of it
And yet, I've never broken the glass. It's been dropped off the top of my truck (long way down), dropped in a pool w/100% submersion, and fell out of my pocket while on an ATV and run over. Soft ground saved it there as it was able to sink in. Never had a case either.

do you have a place called "tap plastics" in your town? they can make you an acrylic one that will work. http://www.tapplastics.com/ they just need the dims and thinkness of the glass used to be. or take it in to them. shouldnt cost to much.

The same thing happened to my camera lens too but i cant tell any difference when taking photos.
It fell when I tried to put Galaxy Tab Plus into my field jacket. I noticed sound cut off suddenly and my Note 2 fell from 1.2 meters.
Even a TPU case and glass screen protector applied, a scuff formed on the left top (it's not visible when case applied). Fortunately, the screen didn't have any damage.
What if I have the phone unprotected?!

I havent dropped this phone since I got it on Dec 31st...
Not really luck but the size, weight, and my Otterbox Defender case seems to be an undroppable setup! Honestly even when the phone has slipped its just impossible to drop. Last second fingertips on the corner edge of the phone, side hand pinning to body, etc, all have ended in no drops throughout the most unsuspecting moments... or maybe I am just lucky or "? reaction-arily? gifted"

I've managed to drop my phone with the Defender while putting it back in the holster, unbeknownst to me it tangled with my winter coat (granted, probably not much of a concern in Arizona) and some time later fell out on an elevator's tile floor. Loud thud, but nary a scratch.
It was the first time, and I've had mine since November.

Hi darkshado, I have an unlocked t889v from mobilicity, and phone could work under wind and virgin mobile.
However, signal is unstable indoors, asu frequently drops to 1 or 2, or even no service at all. I would like to activate lte to take full advantage of the virgin mobile's network. Could you please to forward me a draft guide on how to do it? I know the risk but still want a try....thanks~!
btw, the baseband is T889VVLALJ4, ROM is Jedi 9...
I dropped mine in the toilet (after cleaning the toilet) last week. Without hesitation I reached in and tossed it in the laundry hamper. I yanked the otterbox defender off and started drying it off. Pulled the back off and the battery out. Pulled the s pen out and shoved a qtip in the hole. Remarkably the phone was on and functioning befire I pulled the battery. After I gave everything a good wipe down I blew water from behind the home key, power button and volume rocker. There was also trace amounts in the s pen. Phone still works flawlessly. It didnt even hiccup. Makes one wonder how water resistant this phone is. It was in water for 3 seconds or less and nothing happened.
Noted Twice then replied using SGH-T889.
After careful inspection, a tiny damage found on the top-left of the screen. However, it can be covered with a case and the touchscreen isn't affected at all.

As odd as it sounds thank the screen protector. I had screen protector on my htc incredible and had it fall from the holster running and watched it endo beside me for a few steps with not screen damage. Only to remove it after switching carriers and getting a new phone to drop it from about 16 inched and crack the screen.
Im thinking about cutting the stock otterbox defender screen protector off and using one that adheres to the screen. This one doesnt sit flush so I get noise from it contacting the screen as I type and also dust and dirt enter from around the home key.
Note 2, yeah son!
I'm on my second note 2. Dropped the first one from about 1.5 feet without a case and goodbye screen. So moral of the story.... could have been much worse.

I am so angry at me right now... There is plenty of dust collecting between top bezel and glass, so I sticked a fingernail in there in order to clean the dust and as I was making my way through the bezel, the screen broke on the way from bezel to speaker, so now I have 2mm long crack on top of the phone....
I guess I can't do anything with this now. Are there any cases that can hide this part ? I mean - cases that reach or cover the top speaker
Shame... its a fantastic device but build quality is rather delicate especially compared to htc one or nexus4
Wow that is the first time I heard of anyone with this kind of an issue. Best you can do is either try to use a Anti glare screen protector or use a vinyl sticker that changed covers everything else besides the display, that would help cover up the cracks. You should post a picture of the affected area to get better opinions.

Thanks for answer. What type of sticker do You mean ?
The full version of accident was like that:
in the morning I dropped my n2 from hands height (I am a tall 1,86m person) directly SCREEN onto tiles in my flat. I had pc+. Case and back cover FLIED away. I reinstalled everythig and noticed plenty of dust collecting on top - between bezel and screen in that little gap. So I started cleaning it and the area above speaker just cracked. I guess it must have been structurally damaged from the fall and I finished the job. I have n2 for 4 months and did that cleaning couple of times without problems.
Anyway. it looks like this

The crack is a little more visible in real and really annoys me. Thankfully it appeared above the speaker so there is now way that crack can continue further.
So, what are means of hiding it? Can You link the screen protector and tape You recommend ?
Also - I want to get new case. that pc+ maybe did the job but now I want a case that will have higher bumpers from the screen side. And I want those bumpers to reach further into the device if You know what I mean. At least so they will hide the mentioned gap, so dust wouldnt colelct in there. maybe uag ?
For future referance I never use nails instead use a business card as it is thin enough and rigid enough to het the dust out. And I have no idea why I thanked to previous post 2wice.

Have you seen those stands at the mall where they wrap your gadgets up with some type of vinyl sticker? It wraps around like Zagg invisible shield but you can choose different designs or texture and it actually holds on well. Well you can choose to only have it on the front screen and in white. I'm not much into all the various gimmicky covers available in the market but I'm using the Samsung Protective Cover+ which has protected my note2 pretty well and barely adds thickness. You should check that out.

I'd say just ignore it. And if it really really really bugs you then you may as well just replace the glass panel, which is a bit difficult, but still doable. Just check the link in my signature.

You need to be very sure that the rubber plug is in all the way. That is the only way water can get in:crying:
The SW3 is not rated waterproof in the case of saline water....

Yesterday I went to the sea, I have been in the water more than an hour with the watch and no problem.
I swim and take mine in the jacuzzi daily
I made s6re the seal was on before I went in. Ive had it in a bag of rice since. I tried it this morning and it switches on now but the touch screen isnt working. Ill try to dry it out more.

You can try to contact sony and tell them it is defective. They should honor the warranty, however they do say never take unrated electronics into salt water. This watch is rated for dips in fresh water up to 1.5 meters. Also, they say once in a while, submersion in a pool is okay if you clean it off afterward.
Rice should work, but will take a while.

The IP certifications only covers "filtered" water' like in a pool or like the friend who dropped in the toilet after the diarrhea, sea water is not covered in the waterproof specs.
The IP68 rating on Sony's own web page contains the following footnote:
The SmartWatch 3 is water and dust protected as long as you follow a few simple instructions: you can’t take the SmartWatch 3 deeper than 10m of water and for longer than 30 minutes; and the water should be fresh water. Casual use in chlorinated pools is permitted provided the SmartWatch 3 is rinsed in fresh water afterwards. No seawater and no salt water pools. Abuse and improper use of device will invalidate warranty. The SmartWatch 3 has an Ingress Protection rating of IP68.
See: http://www.sonymobile.com/global-en/products/smartwear/smartwatch-3-swr50/
Same here, no longer waterproof.
Went swimming last night and water got in, the screen went on and off for a while and after 30 minutes it stayed on. The big problem now is that the touch screen no longer works, making it useless. I think the seal gets lose over time even though it looks fine.
If you take a look at the teardown video, the problem is not with the micro usb connector, it is fixed into a lot of glue so there is no way that water will get in through that part. I bet that the lcd's adhesive loses it's stickiness in time, making tiny holes for the water to get in.
Also, it is forbidden to swim with it in salt water due to the fact that the rubber seal for the usb connector is not waterproof, and the salt water can corrode the contacts in no time.

By the way, what was sony's response for this? Was it covered by warranty?
I'don't swim with it, drop it in the toilet and sh*t on it, I just wash it with soap and water from time to time when it gets dirty so it's good to know their answer.
Thank you!
Picked up the last Zagg glass Curve and installed it today. Its great so far and the cut definitely supports most cases. I sampled a few cases that Best Buy carry and they fit to include the commuter Otterbox case. didn't have anothe phone to take fitment unfortunately. The included RED mounting guide allows for a perfectly centered installation

I went to Tmobile store today, had not 1, but 2 attempts by the store. Didn't see what he messed up on the first, seemed easy enough with the kit provided. Second one was a good install, visually, but the center became immediately unresponsive. The clickity issue came about. Hope you have better luck.
I used to install them when i work at Best Buy so it was easy for me. He may have bowed it which cause the loss of contact. I've been using for about 5 hrs with no issues. I will update if it does change tho.

All of the tempered glass screen protectors have the either adhesive on the top and bottom or all around the edges. But not on the entire surface... The good brands will use true silicon adhesive. While the cheaper ebay brands will use ****ty adhesive cutouts..

How does this hold up when the phone is wet? I'm worried about switching to tempered glass, since the adhesive is just on the edges, not sure if that would be sufficient enough to seal off water?

So, i got mine today and installed it on a phone fresh out of the box. I used the guide they send and it went smoothly. However, ive noticed a couple of things that i dont know if i can live with. First, the sensitivity in the middle of the screen especially the home button and middle keys on the keyboard seems to be slightly affected. I have to push just a little harder for things to be recognized which i find obnoxious. Im a fast typer and find that i am constantly going back and correcting almost any word that contains keys in the center 1/3 of the keyboard. Secondly, and this one about drove me batty, is that the corners seem to not adhere completely. This causes an audible click kind of noise but not all of the time. It took me most of the day to figure out that it was the screen protector and not some sort of weird keypress or something. I may have fixed that issue though but running the blow drier on high around the screen for about 15 seconds and then pressing firmly all the way around. So far it hasnt came back.
Anyone else experiencing any of these issues?
I'd stay away from Zagg there screen protectors arent as perfect as there retail price point would suggest.
