Can anyone recommend a speaker dock? There are plenty around for the iPhone such as this one, but where are the equivalent with a USB-C or USB mini connection?
https://www.amazon.co.uk/AZATOM-Hom...s=network-media&ie=UTF8&qid=1524055317&sr=1-3
Perhaps these are going out of fashion now as more people use services like Spotify or Google Music, or they prefer to connect via Bluetooth, but there is something I do like about having a wired connection that doesn't involve either an Aux or USB cable connected round the back of a speaker. Having my phone resting on the speaker, charging, while I can listen to my music appeals, but I can't find any equivalent products like the one above that have a non-Lightning connection.
Any recommendations?

So, I'm finally getting rid of my iPod Classic, moving everything to my phone. One issue remains tho - a lot of my accessories, including my cobbled-together speaker system, have iPod dock connectors. For my speaker system, i have a set of nice computer speakers + a small subwoofer, and an iPod dock with speakers. Slip in my iPod, and plug the speakers into the iPod's headphone jack, and i have a surprisingly great stereo system. But, switching out my iPod for my phone, i loose half my system, and its mediocre. I could use something like this:
http://www.amazon.com/Universal-Converter-Cable-Conversion-Blackberry/dp/B003MQ7F8Y/ref=pd_cp_e_1
but, I would loose my speakers. What I really need is a female iPod to male micro USB adapter, which i haven't been able to find. Can ANYONE help? I can't afford a new stereo :/
um, anyone?
*sigh* its really crappy when NO ONE answers your thread....
Posting an ipod in a phone forum is like driving in the wrong lane this should be posted in off-topic or some ipod apple forum.
You are not alone.
its an accessory i'm looking to use with my phone. I assumed this was the correct place. however, if you think a different forum would actually get answers, where would i go to have this moved?
posting this here in case anyone searches for this, so they can actually have an answer. sorry if i'm breaking a dead topic rule or something, i don't remember seeing one.
Anyways....

micro usb converter from apple female - why not
There must be a million plus speaker docs out there in UK alone with apple connection a simple micro usb from apple converter will clean up now that more people are using android and micro usb*
So why are they not piling out of HK on Ebay ???
*Not a dig at apple just a fact...
Seeing as this thread was already just bumped, thought I'd post this here.
I've been meaning to get around to building a iOS dock adapter specifically for Samsung's Galaxy series devices.
I made a post on the GSII forums about how to do this but have yet to get around to making one as such. It'd be similar to how this gent made his, without the actual auxiliary cable sticking out. Everything would go through the micro USB connection.
After forever I've finally decided to go ahead and order some parts to make one. Now just randomly wondering, would someone actually want one if I got to making them?
I would be at least a little interested in one, depending on cost...
Anyone ever make one??
Dear awesome community,
For the past month or more I've been trying to find a place where they sell Mirco-USB to 3.5mm/USB cables, but I have come to no success whatsoever!
Is such cable impossible to make? Or am I just looking in the wrong places.
Check out the attached picture that I've created to show what I need and mean.
It looks simple, right? Now, I would love to get one of these at any price.

Well, instead of having two wires coming out of my Note (Top and bottom) while I'm driving, a cable like this well have only one wire coming out from under the phone, cutting on clutter and annoying wires.
must be out there
heres something similar but is mini usb which is no good.

That's totally proprietary. The phone that that is made for probably doesn't even have a 3.5mm jack.

Well.. sorry to be a troll. However, you started this thread conveniently assuming that Headphone output through MicroUSB port of Note will work? Its not an HTC phone which has headset support.
May I know the reason for your ASSUMPTION that it would work even if you get the cable?
Your best bet for a single plug into your phone would probably be to use an MHL>HDMI adapter, and then get another adapter to convert from HDMI audio to 3.5mm.
That would be rather clunky though. HDMI > Anything (that isn't DVI) converters are going to run you at least about $40 for a start, and they aren't small either (probably not much smaller than the phone itself .) And they are externally-powered, so you'd need to provide power to both the MHL dongle and the HDMI converter, so it'd be super untidy.
You could do it though.
But you're probably better off using Bluetooth.

My assumption comes from the fact that there is a "docking" option in the system settings of the Galaxy Note, meaning that there is support for docking stations and probably audio output for them.
I'm not saying that the Note is the only and first phone to have it, I'm just wondering if there are such cables out there and if such thing possible to be made through Micro USB.
I had an iPhone almost 2 years ago and such cable was available easily and it did really help in my car setup, and since the Note has the same slot setup of my old iPhone I would really like to know if a cable like that is somewhere out there.

Well, looking at this car docking station...
(Link not allowed. Search for "Genuine Samsung Galaxy Note Vehicle Dock - ECS-K1E1BEGSTD" on MobileFun)
...it clearly shows a "speaker line out" socket in one of the photos, with only one connector (i.e. the micro USB connector) attaching to the phone.
So it is most certainly possible.
Hmmm, the both the official desktop dock and car dock have a 3.5mm audio out. It seems unlikely that there would be a USB DAC in the docks themselves, which suggests that analogue audio is being piped out the microUSB port on the phone itself.
Of course, the OP could just buy the official car dock to get nice tidy cabling...
If i understood the purpose of this cable, it would be:
For example:
My car supports audio input so the purpose of a cable like this would be to stream music to my car audio system and recharge de phone like a all-in-one right?

Very Interested in this as well. OEM dock wont work with a case. So this would be a great alternative paired with a car cradle such as this.

I too really want one of these.
It is obviously possible as the destop & car dock do this.
The only way is, for someone with some electronics knowledge to pull one of these apart to see how its done. It would be interesting to see if it is straight audio out, or if there is a "Digital to Analogue Converter in there"

This might do the trick in the unlikely case that Note's microusb outputs audio. Tough I'm really interested in knowing for sure if the Galaxy Note microusb pumps line level audio.
Judging by the price of the desktop dock i wouldn't bet my money on the idea that it has not a dac. I
Use Bluetooth.

I haven't used my iPod since getting my first android, three androids ago. I do however have an iPod dock connected to my AV receiver at home, and a dock connector wired into my car. Has anyone figured out a way to use iPod accessories with their android? Ideally I wish I had the programming knowledge to emulate the iPod and have all the controls functional but that is way beyond what I'm capable of. I was thinking of getting a female dock connector and connecting a micro usb and 3.5mm audio jack so I could both charge and output audio through it. Also, what comes out of the MHL/USB on the Galaxy? Could I get analog audio from it so I would just have one usb cable to connect to charge and listen? Thoughts?
Come on... no one?
It -may- charge w/ the dock to micro usb adapter. That's pretty much it.
You won't get audio out of it, nor data more than likely (even power is up-in-the-air) simply because the system doesn't have the software to work with the connections made available w/ that adapter.
Edit: Also, you probably should've posted this in Q&A.
It would be pretty difficult to do something like that and would probably require building a device that would sit between the iPod dock and the Android phone.
It might be possible to do something like this. As long as your dock uses analog audio instead of usb audio like my car radio uses.
goo . gl / oeCYW Remove the spaces. I'm a new member and can't post links yet.
So you are saying you think it's looking to see if an ipod is connected before it looks for the audio coming out of it? I was under the assumption it was always ready for it since I need to first manually switch to the ipod input on the stereo... hmmm...

Nice. That's exactly what I was thinking of doing.
Well that link was encouraging enough that at least someone has gotten this to work. I went ahead and ordered a female dock connector from here http://aloaudio.com/30-female-dock-connector-with-wire-board.html. At worst I'm out $14.35. I'll update the thread with what I find out.
The dock connector arrived today. I haven't messed around with the one in my car but I did test the one on my AV receiver. Things I've learned:
1) If the receiver is on, there is a steady 4.9 volts available to charge my Galaxy.
2) There is some sort of check to see if an ipod is connected before it will switch to listen for audio on the input pins. I can actually hear a click of a relay when I connect my ipod that I do not hear with the wire connected.
3) I placed the ipod in the dock to get it to switch. I then I wired a headphone cable to the audio in pins of the dock. To my surprise I could play music from my Galaxy just fine.
If I could just figure out what it is looking for to know whether or not an ipod is connected, this should work just fine.
I just want to update this thread. I finally got around to messing with this again (yes 4 months later).
I have it working perfectly for audio in my car! As long as pins 1 & 2 are shorted it switches the head unit into iPod mode and audio gets sent to the speakers. Pins 2, 3, 4 are Ground, Right, and Left audio. I would record a video of it working but the only thing I have is my GN and I can't use it to play music and record video.
I gave up on my home theater receiver. There's power there to charge it but I can't figure out how to fool it to listen for the audio.
Y not just buy the ipod to universal Bluetooth adapter? That way the phone doesn't even have to be docked? Sprint sells it
I've been using this to play music through my old ipod fm transmitter, works great.

I may have to buy one of those for my Klipsch iFi speakers. I was thinking about getting the official dock from Expansys, running this audio cable to the iPod input, and adding some other stuff via NFC tag to make the setup sort of like Ford Sync in my car.
[Q]iPAQ bluetooth keyboard working with Galaxy Nexus?
Hi everybody:
I had a iPAQ BT foldable keyboard (SPP, no HID), and I wish it works on my Galaxy Nexus for daily use (when playing games, or typing with Chinese input methods).
I've tried some apps, and keyPro Demo works, but it gave me a new IME which only support English input. I wondered if anybody here give me some help. Thanks all!!
hey guys, I know this thread is a little outdated but there is another option to get audio and charging from the 30-pin apple connection. I personally haven't tried this but it looks like it could work:

I own an Audi Q5 and it can stream music from either iPod, USB or 3.5'' mm jack using a Media Link Cable. It sounds nice, but your device has be locked in the glove box!! So i decided to get this device from amazon - "http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0087XSV08/ref=oh_details_o01_s00_i01". It streams music to your receiver via Bluetooth. I love this solution because i almost always use Google Map for my GPS navigation.
It works great because i have a Bose Sounddock with an iPod jack too.

I'm a little late to this party but I too am looking for a solution to convert my Klipsch iFi into a Bluetooth dock so we can use our Evo LTE's on it. I have a 1st gen iPod Nano on it but 2gb of music (the 4gb one we had died) just isn't getting it done. I also want the ability to run internet radio stations and playlists and what not. I bought about the cheapest iPod Bluetooth adapter available on eBay and was disappointed that it did not work. The LED on top wouldn't even light up to indicate it was getting power. They seller sent me another one and unfortunately it also does not work. The seller assured me that he tests every single one that is sent (uh huh, I believe you) so it would appear as though this particular adapter will not work. As soon as I can get a refund I will start going up the list as far as price goes. Just wonder if you were ever able to find a solution for your iFi to save me the effort of order several different adapters until I find one that works. I don't see why this one didn't work as the iFi should work just like every other iPod dock on the market as far as how it interfaces with the iPod/adapter.

This adapter you linked to looks exactly like the adapter I got from eBay but I only paid $15.99 w/free shipping. If anyone else is interested in trying out one of these types of adapters I would check eBay first. While mine didn't work for my iFi specifically the seller has good feedback so I would imagine it works for most. My issue is probably Klipsch iFi specific. I plan to order a different version from another seller for a few bucks more and can report back my findings if it works or not as another option but I wouldn't spend $40 for what looks exactly like what I paid $16 shipped for.
Hi all, I'm from Sonr Labs, we just released a universal plug in speaker dock for android with a remote control (it uses the headphone jack for both data and audio). The app that powers it is open source and there's a dead simple API (for integrating thumbs up/down etc into your app)
Is this of interest? If so, I'm happy to answer questions, etc. I can't post the URL because I'm too new here, but hopefully if its of interest, then someone more senior can post the Sonr Labs website.
What advantages over something like this would your system offer. This one works via the micro usb port and also has BT capability. Being micro usb it actually charges the device as well. I am not tearing down your product just asking for a breakdown of the advantages is all.
fair question, the idea is just easier and more reliable than bluetooth. Our feeling was if you are plugging it in anyway, easier to eliminate pairing, etc.

Hey guys,
So I have a M919V (from Videotron) and I just bought the official Samsung MHL 2.0 HDMI adapter. I previously bought a cheapo one from Monoprice and I couldn't get any sort of video out of it even with the 11-pin adapter. I tried with my old S3 and that wouldn't work either, so I got a defective one.
So now, yay, it works, and I can have HDMI out straight to my TV, but I'd really love to plug it into my amp instead, as I could get surround sound and such. Strangely enough, when I do plug the HDMI cable into my amp, my phone shows "Plug the phone directly into the TV".
Is there a way to enable the HDMI out through an amp? I'm *guessing* this has something to do with HDCP or whatever, but I kinda doubt it (my PS3 is full HDCP and still functions quite well through HDMI) so I'm really wondering what's going on with this.
I'm on stock rooted.
I recommend just using a headphone jack to plug into an amp. I haven't seen any mods that allow for hdmi on audio devices yet. There could be one, but I haven't seen it, do a quick search on xda.

That's a possible solution, true. I'll have to give that a shot... It really sucks, I'd be stuck with stereo anyway. My ultimate goal is to be able to stream videos from my PC to my phone and output to my TV, which would negate the need for any sort of weird device.
