OP3T won't boot after flashing OB33 - OnePlus 3 Questions & Answers

Hi !
I've just flashed the phone using the last OB firmware+modem from https://jamal2367.com/downloads/?dir=OnePlus 3/Firmware + Modems/Android 8.0.0/Open Beta and now the phone can't boot !
There's no reaction when I press the ON button !
Is it a brick ?
Thx for helping

3T is on OB23 not 33 , 33 is for OP3 not 3T...that's why.
now i don't think wrong firmware would cause a hard brick, but if you're getting no respond what so ever when holding the power button, it's concerning , try to hold it for longer (10-20 secs)...
also try power+vol up or down for also 10 sec or so, and try connecting to a PC, and see , and what happens when connecting to dash charger!!!

Why did you flash the only the firmware? If you want OB23 then flash the complete ROM zip and not the firmware zip. As said above, you need OB23 for OP3T.

Ye it's a brick. Use the unbrick guide and your golden (for the OP3T tho not the OP3 this time ).
Next time take a better look at what you are doing.

I'm not a beginner, I play with custom roms and firms since my HTC Desire HD 8 years ago :/
One must say that info on Kernel and Roms is fine here but concerning firmware, it's a bit more foggy !
I tried the guide here but it failed http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-3/how-to/guide-mega-unbrick-guide-hard-bricked-t3405700

Well you know that sometimes, you can't install a ROM if the firmware hasn't been updated first.

Didn't it occur to you to search on Google? This impulsiveness has already landed you in trouble. Pl pay attention to what you are doing and what you are asked to do.
A search on Google throws up multiple options. One among them: https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-3t/how-to/unbrick-unbrick-tutorial-oneplus-3t-t3515306
No guarantees or liability!

That's what I've done and finaly managed after a few retries to recover my phone.

With OP3 its not needed. Full rom zip will automatically update the firmware.

It happened that a ROM (official RR for instance) cannot be applied without updating the firmware first)

[Q] Custom Kernel Flashing ends with black screen , Arc S

Hi everyone,
I really like my arc s and I don't want to change it if it does not fail. However, I decided try new ROMS just to make my device a bit different with improved performance.
I checked several of threads and read them carefully. I have already finished these steps (I hope I managed to do properly) :good:
=unlocked boot loader
=rooted with a software called eroot
=installed ClockWorkMod Recovery 5.0.2.7-nAa-r2
As much I understand everything is ready.
So I have downloaded a 4.2 JB custom ROM. I put the zip files to my SD card and also extracted boot.img file to my desktop. By using Flashtool, I flashed it. After that, I rebooted the device to enter CWM mod to be able to load the ROM and googleapps. However, I only get BLACK screen everytime. (I press volume down and power button) .
I followed 3-4 different techniques and different kernels and roms but everytime the result is black unresponsive secreen, I only get small vibration and than black screen forever. Thankfully, I manage to save the device but loading LT18i_4.1.B.0.587_(1254-2184).ftf with flashtool flash mode. However, I really want a shiny 4.2 in my mobile .
By the way, about my phone : android 4.0.4 kernel 2.6.32.9-perf
I don't know what I am doing wrong with flashing kernel...
Please share your experiences...
Regards
Onur
Hi again,

The way to enter cwm is not voldown+power. its power on phone first, then repeatedly press the voldown button until cwm popped up

Hello mate, thnks for the suggestion. Believe me I have already tried it with many other combinations including pressing all buttons at the same time
What is the kernel logo that pops up, are you sure the kernel flashed correctly
Sent from my Nexus 5 using xda app-developers app
At least I have identified the problem, I guess
At first I didn't consider that as a problem but I think the reason of this kernel flashing problem is an issue about internal memory of the device. While flashing the kernel with flashtool, an error occurs "1 bad blocks encountered" (check the attachment pls), I did a quick search on the forum as well as Mr Google however the outcome is a bit devastating unfortunately. I think it is impossible to solve the problem. Still, I will be really appreciated if someone shares his/her solution for this problem.
Otherwise, I m kindly asking for ROM suggestions to upgrde my arc s (4.0.4 with kernel 2.6.32.9) without flashing a custom kernel.
Many thanks...

Unfortunately, I cant see any logos. I think I follow the correct method but as I said due to bad blocks, flashtool can't install the kernel properly :/

Can you get to the boot loader at the White screen hold volume up and power button until screen turns black then immediately hold volume down and power button and it should take you to boot loader if you can get there put it in fastboot then plug in to the PC it should then say fastboot USB and try to run the ruu from there

RUU? Why?
Download a ROM onto your PC (I recommend ViperOne ), and transfer it to your extSD with a card reader. Put that into your phone, and flash it in recovery.
That should about do it.

Did you look at my sig? lol! I work with Team Venom as a member in support. So of course I recommend ViperOne.
It's the most customizable Sense based ROM out, and with it there is a good chance you won't need Xposed. You can use it though, if you want to.
Check out the features by reading this post, and check out other features by visiting the ROM thread.

Okay, try this:
Connect your phone and first, flash it in 'Download Only' mode. (Make sure to select all the partitions (I mean the files))
Then flash them all again in 'Firmware Upgrade' mode..
I'd recommend you to flash the KitKat file.

Bricked Phone [No Display] after Marshmallow Berta Update...

Dear All,
I've found that my bootloader is automatically Locked after flashing Marshmallow Beta. So, I've tried to unlock it again to bring back my TWRP, but both official and unoffiacial methods failed to unlock and even temporary CWM also didn't work. Then I've flashed .139 droidboot image though fastboot and tried unofficial unlock method and got unlocked. Then I've flashed TWRP and got it worked.
Now I've flashed Supersu 2.65 through TWRP and rebooted my phone..... OMG, I've bricked my phone.... There is no display at all (Black Screen), but getting vibration at the Power On.
I've tried all the unbrick methods including xFSTK Tool method! But no use... I've used these methods previously to unbrick from USB Logo Issue. But now, it's refusing to help me...
It shows in xFSTK as like this...
Firmware download completed. Continuing to OS...

But it fails download OS after many attempts to reconnect my device. Then my device reboots (gives vibration) but nothing is displayed in the screen and it is still blank. It's not even booting to bootloader...
Kindly suggest me some tips to unbrick my phone (Z00AD-ZE551ML)....
Thanks in advance...
Edit: Sorry for the title mistake, it's Beta Update....

You should`ve flashed stock recovery for 139 -- then rebooted recovery -- select side load -- then adb sideloaded WW - stock 139 firmware.
i dont know where you go from here , if you do manage it, remember this ^^^ and anyone else --- i put this process numerous times but people just ignore !

Ya, I tried that too by renaming droidboot.img to droidboot.img.bin and tried it. But still as like before it's not even going to OS section after finishing the firmware section... So, I cant come to a conclusion that whether renaming like this is correct or not...

Out of curiosity can you post a screenshot of the extracted ifwi that you have ?
Have you tried pressing (and holding) the "vol-up" button immediately after the "fw download completed continuing to os.."?
That's how I managed so the phone didn't reboot

But I've already opened my phone and tried disconnecting and reconnecting the battery to test. But it didn't helped me...
================================================================================================================
And this is the exact mistake I've did I think which they asked no to do....
What we know so far:
* DO NOT flash droidboot.img in Android 6.0 update when ifwi version is 94.17x
* The bootloader will be ' locked ' after flashing Android 6.0 update.
* The splashscreen of Android 5.0 and Android 6.0 are in different format and if you don't update after changing the ifwi version, your phone might not boot.

Which is stated clearly at ZenTalk forum here http://www.asus.com/zentalk/thread-79657-1-1.html
But I've flashed droidboot.img from .139 firmware over Android M Beta... This made the splashscreen not to work and my phone became unbootable...
But the sad thing is, I was really not aware of this before doing this to my phone...
Edit: Now the clue is splashscreen, is there any way to flash splashscreen using a downloader like xFSTK...?
Where to use it What is OS Dnx in xFSTK Downloader? Can I use splashscreen there?

Well theres hope for you yet , i did just that what you did and bricked my fone a couple of hrs ago - i managed to get working bootloader using ifwi dnx fwr and droidbootPOSsignedbin for version 2.15.40.13 and the raw for it -it flashed like fastboot messages on fone and rebooted into system all by itself
just upgating now , leaving 5.0 stock till mm comes ota
ps , tried 3 times and 3 bricks - cycling between 4 colours - usb cable - bootloader - and blank screens -each time i tried the raw -- soon as i ticked the wipe data in raw flasher it took.
remember i was coming from mm beta

Have you ever went up with the blank screen issue? (like me..)...
Edit 1: I forgot to mention one thing in the OP. After unlocking my phone with .139 droidboot.img, I got white splashscreen, then I've flashed black splashscreen (older one that I already had for LP).... I think this may be the issue...
Edit 2: Which RAW Flasher you are using to recover from blank screen?
I used 2.15.40.13 raw with the only flasher available I think 1.7
Downloader,1.14 cos it worked for me before, I have 1.34 but never used and didn't want to alter my successful flash stuff
Dear @timbernot
Thank you very much for giving me hope to unbrick my phone. Now I've unbricked it successfully by trying with xFSTK again and again repeatedly.... First I got the USB Logo, then four colours, and then fastboot.... Then I've flashed the raw firmware.... Feeling happy now....

Vibe K5 doesn't boot up

hi, I need some help, i'm desperate.
I was using a bad charger, when my phone was in low battery, so it turned off my phone (charging > not charging) three times. In the third boot, the CM logo just froze up, and the phone didn't boot anymore. It appears Lenovo's logo and then the screen turns black and i'm not able to press any button. I tried to: wipe everything, flash another rom, but the same still happening. I flashed stock rom too, but it gives me a bootloop. I tried to use a TWRP's backup from stock rom, but it didn't work either.
Any help? I don't know what to do

Since you flashed a stock rom , flash a new twrp using adb and fastboot and wipe everything except system . BTW a simple reboot (or three) cant damage system. Try checking battery too if you could

I tried that with QFIL and Lenovo Smart Assistance. and bootloop.
But I think i've made some progress:
I tried to flashed a new rom (I flashed CM/RR/AOCP before, is with these roms the frozen lenovo screen happens), CRDROID, and it appears crdroid bootanimation, and load until it frozes and phone turn off.

1) Main problem is Battery backup. It won't last long a day.
2) Stock ROM Really sucks
There is no heating issue though. It has been solved by latest updates

Try entering to TWRP by using the hardware keys. Do this:
Pull down the battery.
Insert again.
Press power key, volume up and volume down at the same time, until lenovo logo dissappear.
If luck, you are into TWRP now.
connect phone to computer via usb cable. you should be able to access to internal memory.
So, copy into it any custom ROM previously downloaded from your computer, and flash it. That's all.

Bootleggers has some bugs, like WhatsApp not being able to play GIFs or videos. Also, after a while in the day, launcher becomes laggy (maybe a kernel settings issue). You have to reboot and becomes smooth and fast again.
I highly recommend LOS 15.1 or AEX 5.6 from Harry (yes, he is continuing the development!) Both of them have June updates.
I'm on AEX right now, which is such a marvelous ROM. It has a looot of customizations than any other ROM I've tried.
How to get them?
Search into the Harry8242 profile from AFH.

LOS 15.1 is fine but has some bugs too(camera zoomer not working).
I've finally decided to use a STOCK ROM and there is a complication, here is the problem:" I'm using lenovo downloader software to flash and once my phone is connected, the progress bar gets stuck at the begining level and says:"Flashing" below the status bar and " Sahara "- which have no idea what means- below the step bar and it also takes too much time to do the flashing which is never done! I have the same problem with QFIL( Sahara Fail )!

Glad to hear that! So, you've decided to stay on stock ROM. OK, it has sense. stock firmware is free of bugs, right? Now, do you know being on stock LL you can "update" to MM and thus get doze and adaptive storage?
How?
Follow this guide:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/k5-plus/how-to/guide-a6020l36-official-lenovo-andoid-6-t3596733
and you'll get the most updated official stock ROM available four our device. Actually, it's a backup made by an Brazilian user, where you should restore only system and boot partitions, in order to keep your data.
This update was only released for Brazil region, but, users from other regions in the thread, reported it worked for them.
I've tried it once, and worked like a charm.
