Dear All,
I've found that my bootloader is automatically Locked after flashing Marshmallow Beta. So, I've tried to unlock it again to bring back my TWRP, but both official and unoffiacial methods failed to unlock and even temporary CWM also didn't work. Then I've flashed .139 droidboot image though fastboot and tried unofficial unlock method and got unlocked. Then I've flashed TWRP and got it worked.
Now I've flashed Supersu 2.65 through TWRP and rebooted my phone..... OMG, I've bricked my phone.... There is no display at all (Black Screen), but getting vibration at the Power On.
I've tried all the unbrick methods including xFSTK Tool method! But no use... I've used these methods previously to unbrick from USB Logo Issue. But now, it's refusing to help me...
It shows in xFSTK as like this...
Firmware download completed. Continuing to OS...
Click to collapse
But it fails download OS after many attempts to reconnect my device. Then my device reboots (gives vibration) but nothing is displayed in the screen and it is still blank. It's not even booting to bootloader...
Kindly suggest me some tips to unbrick my phone (Z00AD-ZE551ML)....
Thanks in advance...
Edit: Sorry for the title mistake, it's Beta Update....
argggghhh ! now i understand where you went wrong relating to this

You should`ve flashed stock recovery for 139 -- then rebooted recovery -- select side load -- then adb sideloaded WW - stock 139 firmware.
i dont know where you go from here , if you do manage it, remember this ^^^ and anyone else --- i put this process numerous times but people just ignore !
possibly start again and try flash raw for 139 and correct the steps ^^^?

But, I've tried to download dnx and ifwi extracted from 61 firmware, but it doesn't go well...
Edit 2: -but the same extracted from .184 firmware goes well..... But still no display at all...

I mean it's getting flashed (only ifwi & dnx) but still no boot at all as like said at the OP... But the ifwi & dnx taken from .61 firmware is not at all flasing...

ok , have you just tried naming the droidboot.img to droidboot.img.bin ---longshot i know but trying to research this a little myself -- this is for another phone with an older downloader but maybe some clues here ...

Ya, I tried that too by renaming droidboot.img to droidboot.img.bin and tried it. But still as like before it's not even going to OS section after finishing the firmware section... So, I cant come to a conclusion that whether renaming like this is correct or not...

Out of curiosity can you post a screenshot of the extracted ifwi that you have ?
Have you tried pressing (and holding) the "vol-up" button immediately after the "fw download completed continuing to os.."?
That's how I managed so the phone didn't reboot

But I've already opened my phone and tried disconnecting and reconnecting the battery to test. But it didn't helped me...
================================================================================================================
And this is the exact mistake I've did I think which they asked no to do....
What we know so far:
* DO NOT flash droidboot.img in Android 6.0 update when ifwi version is 94.17x
* The bootloader will be ' locked ' after flashing Android 6.0 update.
* The splashscreen of Android 5.0 and Android 6.0 are in different format and if you don't update after changing the ifwi version, your phone might not boot.

Which is stated clearly at ZenTalk forum here http://www.asus.com/zentalk/thread-79657-1-1.html
But I've flashed droidboot.img from .139 firmware over Android M Beta... This made the splashscreen not to work and my phone became unbootable...
But the sad thing is, I was really not aware of this before doing this to my phone...
Edit: Now the clue is splashscreen, is there any way to flash splashscreen using a downloader like xFSTK...?
Where to use it What is OS Dnx in xFSTK Downloader? Can I use splashscreen there?

Well theres hope for you yet , i did just that what you did and bricked my fone a couple of hrs ago - i managed to get working bootloader using ifwi dnx fwr and droidbootPOSsignedbin for version 2.15.40.13 and the raw for it -it flashed like fastboot messages on fone and rebooted into system all by itself
just upgating now , leaving 5.0 stock till mm comes ota
ps , tried 3 times and 3 bricks - cycling between 4 colours - usb cable - bootloader - and blank screens -each time i tried the raw -- soon as i ticked the wipe data in raw flasher it took.
remember i was coming from mm beta

Have you ever went up with the blank screen issue? (like me..)...
Edit 1: I forgot to mention one thing in the OP. After unlocking my phone with .139 droidboot.img, I got white splashscreen, then I've flashed black splashscreen (older one that I already had for LP).... I think this may be the issue...
Edit 2: Which RAW Flasher you are using to recover from blank screen?
I used 2.15.40.13 raw with the only flasher available I think 1.7
Downloader,1.14 cos it worked for me before, I have 1.34 but never used and didn't want to alter my successful flash stuff
Dear @timbernot
Thank you very much for giving me hope to unbrick my phone. Now I've unbricked it successfully by trying with xFSTK again and again repeatedly.... First I got the USB Logo, then four colours, and then fastboot.... Then I've flashed the raw firmware.... Feeling happy now....

If you have please let me know because no matter how much I try to get into recovery mode I cannot seem to get pass that little green android figure with the error letters. Yep.
As for root, I flash the pre-rooted rom by Shakalaka, latest of course, and then let it update normally with OTA after the pre-rooted rom flash(do this by fastboot).
Never had an issue with bootloops. Might be a bit more work but if I haven't altered the system files, added busybox or xposed framework, I don't need to reflash the pre-rooted rom. Just like being cautious.

Okay, try this:
Connect your phone and first, flash it in 'Download Only' mode. (Make sure to select all the partitions (I mean the files))
Then flash them all again in 'Firmware Upgrade' mode..
I'd recommend you to flash the KitKat file.

Hi everybody, is there any one who can give me a link of .tot modified file with hex editor, I flashed my phone (LS980) with wrong firmware (D802) and when I try to flash it with the right file wich is destined for LS980 the flash tool consider the phone as a D802 model, I tried all methods I found on XDA to restore my phone but nothing done, my phone still brick, and the only way to flash it now is to modify the .tot file with a hex editor soft, if there is someone who can give me a link to that file, or to show me the exact line to modify in the file and which hex soft to use it will be a great help for me.
Thank you in advance (Please try to give the help I demand, because I tried every methods)
Hello kakah2011, First of all i'd tell you to calm down its gonna be alright. secondly can you explain briefly the previous version of software you were running. Android version and the software version, if you could mention would be of great help. And did you flash D802 rom yourself, as if it were running LS980 previously or did you buy the phone already flashed with a fake D802 rom. I can guide and provide you on how to resolve the issue but first i need to make sure which partitions are flashed to your phones memory currently.
just relax. i had exactly the same issue and it got sorted out. My phone(hardware ls980) came with a fake 802 software on it. So i assumed its a 802 and flashed 802 roms on it till it completely got screwed up. the touch went crazy and the phone got into a auto restart loop.
I have the edited file, but i dont know how to give you a 2.5 gb file. Any ideas how it can be shared.
I edited the original file using flexhex. You just need to change the first instance of the word LS980 to D802. the trick here is that in hex editor format when we replace L with D , S with 8, 9 with 0, 8 with 2,0 we replace with a spacebar. The last parts a mistake. 0 should be replaced by a blank and not a spacebar. Copy a blank from nearby and insert it. or try a 00 value. I dont remember exactly what i did. but my mistake was that i was replacing the 0 with a space bar.
after the format, my phone stopped getting into the download mode. Instead i got stuck in some fastboot mode which was getting activated by using the volume up key while inserting the wire(before this, i was getting download mode in volume down+usb wire insertion). had to struggle a bit to get the phone back to download mode. I used something called adb tools to get this done. If you konw these tools, its just a 2 min job.
After that i reflashed the original tot file of ls980 and the phone started working great.
if you need anyhelp, call me if you are from india on 9700000678. Else pm here or email on [email protected]
dont forget to thank me.

Thak you Mr, I think that the previous Firmware before I flash it was a LS980 (4.4.2 or 4.2.2), and I think that the version that I flashed the phone with is 16GB, and I can't use adb fastboot with PC to because it don't recorgnize the IMEI and the only way to restore it is the download mode (No Philz recovery) and I must notice that the screen is not normal (when I push it in an area it moves in another), I think that it's bricked for ever!!!!???

Is there any method to flash the .tot file firmware using fastboot? because there is no more download mode after flashing the modified firmware using FlexHex. Any suggestion ?

The .tot can only be flashed in download mode, on a serious note i'd suggest you here to give your phone to some expert it wouldn't cost you much. But if you'd like to follow.. download mode can easily be restored using the method in the link i just provided earlier. When you get into download mode only then your rom can be restored.. btw please follow as instructed cause if something wrong goes here eg flashing wrong image in fastboot or wiping all at once.. could lead the phone to hard brick and would cost you double as much later to get it fixed. My personal suggestion is to pay $15-30 for this operation and get it over with.. do you have any suitable repair shops in your area?

First I want to thank every one who helped me to restore my G2(especially Krunal Jain who shows me the first step which is the key), finally you've just to download the LAF file and flash it in order to get back download mode then you can flash the .tot firmware of the LS980.
The prbleme now is that there is no more adresse MAC when entering to Wifi settings, and also Cellular network, I guess that these two things need a lot of search to restore them !! Any suggestion??? THANK YOU GUYS

Hello brother
I fixed mine yesterday, i ll tell what to do
If you want to get access to download mode, just remove the buttons connector ,then that metalic plat that its glued in just to get access tothe ic chip and motherboard , of course to do this u need to takr off the baterry and all connectors, once u takr off yhe buttons reconnect every connwctor except the one of buttons and baterry
Thrn connect the the phone to the pc by using a usb (without baterry) then u need a liyyle screw driver or a wire to short the capacitor c5000 and c5004, keep trying till u heard thr pc detect new device named qhusb
Great , for that you need to download srk tool 2.1 just google it
Then selectfix utility then unbrick qhusb and select the correct drive
It will flash : haf, boot , aboot
Thats good for now ur download mode is back to life
Then for ls980 u need to install stock tot file (ls890zv7.tot) flash it with lg flash tool use manual mode u need a dll file (lgls980_20130904_lgflashv151.dll) download it on google... i ll send you links later hiw to do this,im using my phone
Once finished , ur phone is back to life but no signal
Easy ,just need to root. Then install twrp recovery
After that u need to install via recovery mode the (ls980stockuniversal to d802.zip)
And u re phone is getting signal and being fixed
edit: here the tutorial links that helps ya how to do everything
1- to get your phone alive ( to be detected as qusb_bulk)

2- this to fix the qusb issue & download mode back to life

3- to install the stock tot rom , Root , then install twrp recovery mode , & then full unlock you cell phone

you could do 2 things.. one download KDZ use LGUP flash it and see if it was software related or something went wrong at flash.. if it keeps doing it then it has the bootloop issue.. and need to be sent back for repair....can you provide your first 3 digits of your serial number...?

yes it is its pretty easy... . file is big though... download kdz for you variant.. what android you are using.? MM or were you on stock LP.?
well i think since your phone is from 2015 august. that bootloop was supposed to be fixed by then. but newer phone are still getting hit by the bootloop.. but be aware unlocking the bootloader voids warranty.. some been lucky that phone were repaired some were denied repair..

NO ...... the only way for your phone to boot and gather all data is to flash a moddedKDZ.. but am not sure if it works on your variant..
if you have warranty send it back...but if they find out its unlocked they may deny repair.. you must pay for it...
this will make it boot but it will make it slow. as it disables the main cores...

Going to give this a whirl now mate, thanks.
Zenfone2 ZE550ML Z008 No Sound call &Flash image failure (FAILED (wrong image format)
OK, after some search and trying, i really need more help from xda community, especially asus zenfone 2 ZE550ML user and developer and others too
so, this is whats happen so far:
i got this phone from my sister, asus zenfone 2 ZE550ML Z008 2GB memory with weird problem...
the phone cannot send/receive sound from phone calling.
the call can be made, but not any sound can be heard, in and out...
well, maybe the mic and speaker broken, i found that it is not the case...
why? because any messenger apps (Whatsapp, BBM, IMO, Line) which have voice call, worked just fine, no problem at all
i tried self test (using calulator .12345+= trick) everything working just fine too.
it happen too even when using earphone (which i already tested again worked fine with Whastapp, BBM, Line, IMO, maybe other apps too). the earphone is fine, normal and working OK
i tried doing factory reset, failed, after some search, for anything that can be done, it said disable ok google detection, turn ON dial pad, update asus call screen, etc,
let me know if there is more things to try...
i also already try wipe factory reset and cache from recovery mode, still no luck...
i also find that the SIM2 IMEI is unknown/null, but SIM 1 IMEI still normal...
tried changing to SIM 2, and as expected, it didnt get any signal, so cannot be used
i tried all OTA update to the latest update, and the problem still exist
so i think i should flash using Asus Flash Tools (AFT) using flash raw file so it can fix this problem, to make the phone really like new again...
but, another problem arise...
i already prepare all driver and AFT and raw file...
in device manager, everything fine, no any yellow/red mark to any device...
boot to fastboot mode, connect the usb cable, detected in AFT and status is connected with blue circle.
but i cannot flash when i click start, after a while, yellow circle, then red circle with note "Flash image failure (FAILED (wrong image format))"
it failed and not flash the phone, the phone can still be used normal like nothing
happen (but still with the problem i mention )
OK, maybe, the file i downloaded corrupted, so i download again few times, but it keep showing the same error
"Flash image failure (FAILED (wrong image format))"
i tried download other version, and error still the same
i also tried different version of AFT from 1.0.0.14 until the latest one, 1.0.0.55 , and still same error...
i am sure my phone is ZE550ML since in the back of the phone there is written Model : ASUS_Z008, or am i wrong??
after that, i tried flash using ADB and zip file from asus site, with the most older file, which is "UL-Z008-WW-2.12.40.9-user.zip" but cannot be done, it is said cannot flash with older version than the current firmware
so i download the latest firmware "UL-Z008-WW-4.21.40.191-user.zip" which is marsmellow, hoping my problem can be fix
but, the problem still exist...really exactly the same way...really confusing
tried self test again, yup, 100% still the same problem...
so now, i need advice and any info, how to flash using AFT and raw file...??
or how to fix the "Flash image failure (FAILED (wrong image format))" error.
FYI, this phone still not root or unlock bootloader (i suppose, because my sister just use it as it is)
but i notice in fastboot mode, the "BOOTLOADER VERSION - Unknown" is it mean it already unlock or what??
Please help me, any advice, suggestion or info highly appreciated...
thx, and sorry for the poor english writing

are you on M firmware ?
If yes ,factory reset in settings first
Then search ASUS support for downgrade to LP firmware for Z008(whatever that is)
put on internal sd or dload straight there. Remove ext sd btw before and
Reboot
See if that fixes your probs
edit just seen you cannot factory reset. What does work , lets start with that ?
What firmware are you currently on ?
Date build etc ?
Stock recovery installed ?

since i cannot flash using AFT, i tried using adb fastboot mode, and now i am on Marshmellow...
i can do factory reset, i do it few times already in backup setting and also in recovery mode...
it just that my problem/issue with No Sound when calling is still happening.
and the IMEI on SIM 2 also still unknown/null, altough this is less priority than the first problem

I think you can now rule out it being a software problem now
``btw, after updating back to lollipop, the phone still saying there is update``
Yes , is that the same file you just downgraded to or update to M ?

so it is hardware problem??
but how?? the mic and speaker still can be use in Whatsapp, BBM and other chat apps just fine when voice call...
in selftest, i confirm it can pass, since i hear from speaker and speak through the mic just fine too...
and also i found that, if i record the call, it file cannot be played back, and yet i can record when not calling using sound recording and the file can played to just fine...
it only cannot hear or receive sound when in calling...
now, the things i not done is flashing using AFT, which cannot be done because the wrong image error...
i wonder, why?? there must be something i miss out

AFAIK -- you would not be allowed to downgrade if something was a miss with current software(pre-flash) of the downgrade version.
Although , i would try 1.17 AFT in my unbrick thread in my signature below -- and check that you are flashing in AFT correctly by checking unbrick video from 2:17 mins in where AFT flash begins .
I did read in another thread that you stated your serial number is OK .
When you connect in AFT if serial is corrected you flash once.
If serial is 0-F, this is incorrect and you need to do a 2 part flash in AFT to correct it.
Watch the video carefully from 2:17 mins see if you are not doing something right !
Ps , are you flashing a raw file in AFT ?
Out of curiosity, what was the file you tried to flash with the asus flash tool? Was it a raw file?

sorry, i kinda not understand by that...so if i can downgrade, what does that mean??
is flashing using AFT and adb sideload the same?...i though that AFT flashing flash more deeper than adbsideload or using recovery
(i mean is that AFT do flash more things than adb sideload or OTA update, )
just like XFSTK downloader that looked wayyy more deeper flash using AFT...
i said normal, because it is not "0123456789ABCDF" but "F7AZGF00N937" (which also showed in AFT)
but, after i looked closely, its SN for a brief moment, show "0123456789ABCDF" about 2-3 seconds, i dont know whats that mean...i though just a refresh...
let me show you with a video what i mean here:
https://youtu.be/ksjVDFD2V-A
i record just now, after i press power + vol up to enter fastboot mode
yes, i tried Flash rawfile in AFT...
i download few raw files like
WW_ZE550ML_2.20.40.92_20150918.raw
WW_ZE550ML_2.20.40.156_20160815.raw
WW_ZE550ML_2.20.40.155_20160713.raw
all raw file i get from here

the one from "ZF2 5,5" ZE550ML"
or maybe there another raw file i should try??
oh, i rememeber a little details
so, when i tried flash using adb side load,
when i type "adb devices" in CMD directed to specified folder it show like this:
List of devices attached
0123456789ABCDEF sideload
and yet, flashing using adb sideload finish normally without any error...(but still with the same "cant hear calling" problem )
how come it not read my correct serial number??

Check you have driver >
https://software.intel.com/en-us/android/articles/intel-usb-driver-for-android-devices
When you press vol+ serial is corrected and you only need to flash once in AFT
AFT flash is fastboot mode flash .
Have you checked the video ? highlighted (clicked on ) your serial number, it turns blue ? before flashing
Use the AFT i have in my unbrick thread .
Also , tick erase data in AFT before hitting start :good:
AFT >

Video of AFT settings and flash procedure from 2;17 mins in
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PmbRaJijIBs&feature=youtu.be
Note.....
If this above is done correctly then you should be-able to flash it in AFT
Downgrading from M to LP which you succeeded with checks everything re software is OK before flashing , which you succeeded with.
I notice you were worried IF the bootloader was unlocked previously in the other thread and that this maybe affecting the AFT flash .
You said you got this phone off your sister ? Does she know if she unlocked bootloader ?.

"...........
in fastboot mode, my serial number is looks normal but "bootloader version - unknown"...
i wonder if the phone bootloader have been unlock, so it cannot be flash using AFT. ..........."
Heres , what i suggest might have happened although NOT too sure.
Someone previous bricked the device.
Didnt flash or succeed to restore serial correctly ... Then used other software to create a serial number which did`nt correspond with the imei .
This is the only thing i can think of .
This doesnt explain how downgrade version succeeded though .

Yes, i have watch the video...
and yes, the State is blue circle just like in the video...
the different is that after i click start, it turns yellow for few seconds and afterthat, show red circle with error "Flash image failure (FAILED (wrong image format))"
i will show u the video when i got time to do it...but maybe tommorow, since now i got something to do...
i am not in a hurry after all, and i really thankfull you helping me sharing your knowledge...
i wonder because the the stock bootloader version said unknown...i am guessing, with normal phone everything should have some status or whatever, right?? maybe some number or code...
what is the status with normal phone looked like?? or is it normal for un-mod phone to have bootloader version unknown??
i cannot compare to other phone, because i only got this 1 phone...
can you show me what the normal fastboot mode looked like?? with all other status, so i can get more picture of it
yes, i got this from my sister...and i believe she doesnt know anything like this...she is just pure user type, know what i mean, right...
but i dont know if she ever bring this phone to the service or not, i gonna ask her next time i meet her...she is not in the same house with me...
and she bought this phone brandnew from official store, i believe...
and the serial number detected on AFT is the same as number in the back of the phone, which is "F7AZGF00N937"
and also, as far as i know, this phone never bricked (this bricked mean you cannot enter the OS to use the phone, right? like bootloop or cannot start at all)
