Jerky Control In Multitouch Games. - Google Pixel 2 XL Questions & Answers

I thought the jerky, twitchy aiming and movement was a problem in Battle Bay, but now playing Shadowgun Legends I'm getting a similar, but more often, jerky response that leave me looking in a random direction or sometimes in a different position as if I suddenly sprinted.
Anyone else? It's common enough, and annoying, I've thought about trying P.

It's the worst! Im pretty sure its on a lot of devices running Oreo 8.1. try searching multi touch for more related topics.

Took a short clip of me playing this game and slowed it down.

There's a magisk module now that I got from this link.
https://issuetracker.google.com/issues/70344455
It works, I just flashed it about 30 mins ago.

It is working I am using it for 3-4 days.

I flashed Android P. It's much better but still there. At least Shadowgun Legends is playable.

Nfs:shift drifting

Hi lads!
I have a quick question about the game. It runs smoothly, no lag, beautiful graphics (only kicks me out to desktop with low ram on 2nd level) but im struggling to get a decent score on the drifting track! I've searched through a few forums, but haven't found and pointers so far
If somebody is a pro, please help me out!

Quickly tilt to the drift side and then bring the device half-way the normal position.
Slowly tilting will now allow you to adjust the drift.
i have been playing this game on my samsung epic, and the game is great but im stuck now because i cannot do drifting.
im up to tokyo event 3. ( the drift one) now i got this far by getting all stars and perfects on all the races ( took quite some time to achieve). so yeah how does one make drift work? ive tried hours and hours and still the same thing. it will go into drift when i quickly tilt the phone ( sometimes) but will never stay no matter what i do. the car always evens itself out after like 2 seconds

Game' Crashing.

Is anyone else having an issue with games crashing, I've done some looking around and it looks like S2 users everywhere are having this problem due to a sound pool problem. Just curious if this problem is in the Sprint version as well or if i have a lemon.
So far ive noticed this problem with dungeon defenders it will run for a random amount of time then crash to the launcher. No Force close or anything. Ill try other games and also disabling sound to see if this fixes the problem

I haven't had any issues with Serious Sam or FieldRunners or Plants VS Zombies or Age of Zombies or Star Legends myself. I haven't really played anything else but I would expect PvZ or AoZ to really fail as those are the most intensive games I have and yet they don't even stutter.
So ive tested quite a few games over the last day with no issues at all. It looks like im just having an issues with dungeon defenders. Anyone else having the same problem where it will crash to the home screen randomly?
We've been talking about this problem here:

i have it with third blade

Yeah, Pocket Legends crashes a lot too, think it's the same issue with the phone getting too hot.

I recently had the phone reboot on me cause of the great 4G signal I had. Caused excessive heat

It has been fixed. I been playin NES emulation for over an hour today.

Gaming problems

So, I have the same problem that others have reported, several of my games just stop working after playing them for awhile. I'll get so far in the game and then the game just shuts down and goes back to the home screen. A couple examples of the games that do this are Pocket Legends and Muffin Knight.
I am rooted. I was wondering if flashing a custom rom helps at all. So far I am rooted, but stock. I guess I haven't figured out exactly what is causing the problem though I know it's a known problem with the S2.
I am curious myself. It feels like I'll never beat Plants vs. Zombies because of it.
As far as I know it's a sound issue with the E4GT in general even rooting will not help the problem. Atleast I don't remember seeing anyone saying the games we do know of that are crashing are now working without a crash on a rooted rom.
Play with the sounds and/or music off.

Tried that with Plants vs. Zombies it does not work still crashes after a few minutes of play time.
The biggest thing I've noticed was that the phone will heat up quite a bit during game playing.
I've found that underclocking the device down to 800mhz and using the conservative governor I'm able to play longer, but the phone still becomes incredibly warm.
I've been having this issue since day one. Its really aggravating.

It has something to do w/ the soundpool bug that's causing the crash. It's been happening on the Int GS2 and Samsung still haven't fixed it. Turning off sounds doesn't fix the issue either. You can read bout it here http://groups.google.com/group/andr...hread/a40bf951f420b47e/6b736dba33793e00?pli=1
I've never had a problem with just headphones, n64 emulator, and starfox at 1.6GHz for hours.

N64oid isn't affected by this. But nearly every other game is.
Thanks everyone. When i'm on the desktop I'll hit the official thanks button.
I don't use the emulators. I did try playing with the sound off, but no joy. I'll try underclocking just for fun.
I contacted Samsung and they keep singing the song that it's the developers fault.

Just a FYI, PopCap did an awful hack job porting their games to Android, so I wouldn't use Plants vs Zombies as a baseline. In their case it's highly likely it's the developer's fault. Can't speak for any other games / developers, though I've had zero issues with playing Cut the Rope for 1+ hours.

I agree they did do a mediocre job but that point isn't valid. These same games play very well on other Android phones. My G2 had no issues running them but my wifes E4GT freezes all the time playing certain games.
On another note, I find it odd that the issue has something to do with the sound on these phones. Top of the line mobile GPU and we are trumped by a sound bug...

I guess I shouldn't *****, I haven't had any problems with LOS or GPS, but I do game a fair amount and it's annoying. The screen for camera and gaming is why I wanted this phone the most.

I played Plants vs Zombies through to the end on my Evo3D and the game never crashed one time.
Plants vs. zombies is the only game that crashes on my phone. Unfortunately, it crashes so regularly as to be unplayable.

N64oid crashes consistently for me. Usually playing the Zelda games. Anyone with N64oid emulator experience frequent crashes?
I've been playing Chrono Trigger on the Snes9x emulator and it crashes on me the same way Plants vs. Zombies do.

Performance issues?

I received a razer phone over the holidays as a gift, and its been great, aside from a speaker issue that I had to RMA for. However, I have been noticing small lags or studders when playing games and navigating the UI. Now, I know that every phone is not perfect and that some will lag/stutter, but I am just curious if any of you who own razer phones out there have had these issues as well. I've contacted Razer about this, and they are taking my case to their engineers supposedly.
I've actually noticed that the adaptive brightness was causing screen flicking and shuttering for me. Once I turned it off my phone felt a lot smoother. I really can't confirm this... But give it a try and lmk
OK so I was curious last night if this lag was only on my device, so I pulled out the one that I was about to send back for speaker issues and it had the same issues on the same game. Now, it would be great if any of you who own the phone can test out Super Stick Man Golf 2 to see if you can run it just fine, because that's the game I've been having issues with. And thanks for the advice with the brightness thing, but it didn't help. Thanks in advance
Are you using the gamebooster? If not, see if after adding the game, setting the CPU and framerate to Max helps. I downloaded the game and didn't encounter any slowdown/stuttering.

Yeah, I tried everything on it. I guess I'll need to RMA this one as well.
Well, I just did a 3d mark test on it and it supposedly got a pretty high score, so I don't know what is wrong with it. Maybe its just that game, I don't know.

Question Micro lags / jitters

These micro lags makes the phones processor feel like it's from 2018, can't scroll through anything without having all these micro lags and jitters, same with light gaming, I don't think this processer can handle to much?
If the next update doesn't fix these issues then I don't think they will be fixed?
I haven't had this problem in the last two months I've been using the phone. My wife hasn't complained about her games - I generally don't game very much.
Have never once felt a jitter or lag.....not once. For me this phone has been a pleasure to use. I rooted right out of the box and have since done an update and switched to another rom without a hitch really. except one hiccup i was having with a bootloop. Which proved to be me not disabling mods before the flash. I absolutely love this phone. I am not seeing any of the issues that people are reporting. I also believe that a LOT of reports are bogus. ( Not saying that this is the case here).
I think these "jitters/lag" you are experiencing are due to the framerate getting locked to 60hz. This happens with mine ever day or two. After a reboot it will be smooth. My guess is there is a "bug" from an app or something causing the framerate to lock at 60hz, rather than the 120hz. I haven't quite figured out how to resolve, other than a reboot. It is quite annoying, and I am hoping a future update (if we ever get one!) will fix it.
I've noticed lag when typing. I do use gboard as most of the people do. I do type with two languages activated. Every now and then the phone lags for about a second.
I thought google had already acknowledge that the phone does lag when the battery percentage drops.
Something about accessibility and animations as far as I remember.
Lol that's the first thing I noticed straight from a clean setup twice, Cod mobile is a jittery mess but perfectly fine on my OP 8 Pro and every time I swiped left for Google now it would jitter, Not all the time but it did do it frequently.
Cod mobile was jittery as hell for me as well. After the Dec update it is not jittery anymore but playing on it is really weird. I can't get used to it so i still play on my Poco x3
Mine studders for sure a few times a day for a few seconds. Factor reset didn't help. This phone feels like it's 8 years old with the stutters and the fingerprint reader that doesn't work.
Very smooth experience for me for gaming and all my everyday tasks.

Well the fact they can't even roll an update out without bricking people's phones kind of says it all really, The software features this device is missing will never get added by Google never it's not in their nature they couldn't care less what the user thinks.
You have to check the Google forums to see most complaint threads have been locked by admins to give you an idea of how little **** they give.

That is another possibility and another reason why I hate Google phones they don't even have refresh rate locks just a "Smooth" option but still jitters.
Just found another bug lol try scrolling fast in opposite directions in messages it just freezes and gets confused and sits there like it can't understand fast opposite direction of scrolling lol, Amazing how these devices get released in these states really.

I no and people dis oneui, Samsung have came such a long way to be honest, at least they're phones are smooth and the extra features that's on oneui is what the consumers asked for, even with all the added features it doesn't hinder battery life, yah can't even screen cast on this phone without a chrome cast, people say about a clean stock software but but what's the point, not like as if it's better battery and performance, I get better performance and battery out of my S20 Fe 5g

If a scrollable list is implemented as a scrollview, data will be loaded into it dynamically, AS you scroll through it. Depending on the speed and latency of the data source (for example, loading over the network), and the complexity of generating each element, you may occasionally scroll beyond the loaded data, requiring an interruption that you might perceive as a "lag" or "jitter".
So really there can be two causes that do NOT imply a CPU performance issue; data source, and bad code. A competent programmer can load data from the network in a more effective manner and ensure that processing overhead is minimized, thus reducing the negative effects.
Unfortunately, with mobile, like web, competent programmers are like a drop of water in the ocean.
