Game' Crashing. - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

Is anyone else having an issue with games crashing, I've done some looking around and it looks like S2 users everywhere are having this problem due to a sound pool problem. Just curious if this problem is in the Sprint version as well or if i have a lemon.
So far ive noticed this problem with dungeon defenders it will run for a random amount of time then crash to the launcher. No Force close or anything. Ill try other games and also disabling sound to see if this fixes the problem

I haven't had any issues with Serious Sam or FieldRunners or Plants VS Zombies or Age of Zombies or Star Legends myself. I haven't really played anything else but I would expect PvZ or AoZ to really fail as those are the most intensive games I have and yet they don't even stutter.

So ive tested quite a few games over the last day with no issues at all. It looks like im just having an issues with dungeon defenders. Anyone else having the same problem where it will crash to the home screen randomly?

We've been talking about this problem here:

i have it with third blade

Yeah, Pocket Legends crashes a lot too, think it's the same issue with the phone getting too hot.

I recently had the phone reboot on me cause of the great 4G signal I had. Caused excessive heat

Gaming problems

So, I have the same problem that others have reported, several of my games just stop working after playing them for awhile. I'll get so far in the game and then the game just shuts down and goes back to the home screen. A couple examples of the games that do this are Pocket Legends and Muffin Knight.
I am rooted. I was wondering if flashing a custom rom helps at all. So far I am rooted, but stock. I guess I haven't figured out exactly what is causing the problem though I know it's a known problem with the S2.
I am curious myself. It feels like I'll never beat Plants vs. Zombies because of it.
As far as I know it's a sound issue with the E4GT in general even rooting will not help the problem. Atleast I don't remember seeing anyone saying the games we do know of that are crashing are now working without a crash on a rooted rom.
Play with the sounds and/or music off.

Tried that with Plants vs. Zombies it does not work still crashes after a few minutes of play time.
The biggest thing I've noticed was that the phone will heat up quite a bit during game playing.
I've found that underclocking the device down to 800mhz and using the conservative governor I'm able to play longer, but the phone still becomes incredibly warm.
I've been having this issue since day one. Its really aggravating.

It has something to do w/ the soundpool bug that's causing the crash. It's been happening on the Int GS2 and Samsung still haven't fixed it. Turning off sounds doesn't fix the issue either. You can read bout it here http://groups.google.com/group/andr...hread/a40bf951f420b47e/6b736dba33793e00?pli=1
I've never had a problem with just headphones, n64 emulator, and starfox at 1.6GHz for hours.

N64oid isn't affected by this. But nearly every other game is.
Thanks everyone. When i'm on the desktop I'll hit the official thanks button.
I don't use the emulators. I did try playing with the sound off, but no joy. I'll try underclocking just for fun.
I contacted Samsung and they keep singing the song that it's the developers fault.

Just a FYI, PopCap did an awful hack job porting their games to Android, so I wouldn't use Plants vs Zombies as a baseline. In their case it's highly likely it's the developer's fault. Can't speak for any other games / developers, though I've had zero issues with playing Cut the Rope for 1+ hours.

I agree they did do a mediocre job but that point isn't valid. These same games play very well on other Android phones. My G2 had no issues running them but my wifes E4GT freezes all the time playing certain games.
On another note, I find it odd that the issue has something to do with the sound on these phones. Top of the line mobile GPU and we are trumped by a sound bug...

I guess I shouldn't *****, I haven't had any problems with LOS or GPS, but I do game a fair amount and it's annoying. The screen for camera and gaming is why I wanted this phone the most.

I played Plants vs Zombies through to the end on my Evo3D and the game never crashed one time.
Plants vs. zombies is the only game that crashes on my phone. Unfortunately, it crashes so regularly as to be unplayable.

N64oid crashes consistently for me. Usually playing the Zelda games. Anyone with N64oid emulator experience frequent crashes?
I've been playing Chrono Trigger on the Snes9x emulator and it crashes on me the same way Plants vs. Zombies do.

GTA 3 Lag on S3?

i've been playing a few games on my Rogers S3. Most games play perfectly like riptide, but for some reason GTA 3 is really laggy. Is anyone else having the same problem and is there a fix for this? I thought S3s shouldnt have problems with games. BTW, im on the CM10 nightly rom.
I've tried all different settings, but there is still some lag regardless.
It's fine on my s3. I was getting tons of lag with that auto haptic feature turned on though

im using CM10 rom, and i dont think i have that feature, so it shouldnt be the problem
I'm running stock with the ktooz (I think that's hoe you spell it..) kernel OC'd to 1.65 Ghz; no lag whatsoever with pretty much any setting. There's the occasional stutter here and there but I'm assuming it's less lag than on your device. What's your setup? (Anything that you might think could be the cause)

maybe because your on cm.
or maybe gta isnt optimized for the s4 chip yet? maybe

Nah, can't be. I'm running GTA fine with the S4 chip. Must be CM..
My friends CM S3 seems to get half the scores of my stock in any benchmark we compare in. I assumed it was the beta nature of CM 10. I wold think that high end games would suffer from the drop in overall performance too.
Yep, CM still has some ground to cover with regards to video performance. Qualcomm is still releasing driver support.
Solution
Hey Guys! I found a solution for you and myself if you are experiencing this problem with stock firmware! GTA 3 was also stuttery and laggy from time to time on my S3. What I did was I turned Power Saving feature to OFF and now it works like a charm! Smooth butter gameplay with no frameskips at all. Try it and report if it works for you guys! Good luck! :victory:

[Q] Fruit Ninja Issues (I know, seriously)

Does anyone still play fruit ninja?
Well, me neither, but I thought I'd try it out with this new big screen, and was really disappointed.
Note: im running a custom ROM: Jedi5
Back to fruit Ninja, the responsiveness is pretty delayed - almost makes the game unplayable. There could be several factors involved, but was wondering if others were having the same experience and curious what the problem is.
Or further, if there's a development setting that mught be causing it.
I'll flash back to stock at some soon point to see if it's ROM or kernel related.
Fruit ninja (free) non THD version no slowness. Only when there is an attempt to connect to "open feint". I have attached settings for fruit ninja via screen shot.

Its not i was on total stock a while ago and i had similar issues... **** ive had issues with a few games i had purchased.. i guess until they update im not playing them..
I've played FN several times with no real issues. At the beginning of each game it may be a little jerky while it starts up. Not sure if that's the CPU governor or the game, but my Galaxy Nexus did it too. When it starts though, it's smooth as butter.

Btw, the lag im getting is literally miliseconds.
But it takes my avg scores from like 7-800 down to 4-500. I feel ridiculous for typing this.

I've got Fruit ninja puss in boots and have that annoying lag too.
i dont have lag so much (a little bit), but my main gripe is that with most games i play, the whole game would occasionally freeze, then resume after 1-2 seconds. It's fairly annoying and I still haven't found out a fix to it yet. Seems to happen on any 3D rendered game.
Well, I have noticed one thing. In draw something, while using the SPen, disabling airview significantly reduces stutter and lag.

thanks i'll try that, but i think i might have narrowed it down to it happen mostly when i'm on the train. i think 4g disconnecting and reconnecting has something to do with the momentary freezing.

Stock G Pro: Random Reboot Playing High End Games?

Chose this over Note 2, love the screen/battery life/speed, but a little concerned about stability. I am rooted and running stock.
I noticed games like Dungeon Hunter 4 freeze/crash more than it did on my old Note 1, which could not run the game at high visuals but was very stable. Last night when I tried Gangstar: Vegas, the game randomly rebooted my phone twice. I noticed the bottom of my phone was kind of hot. I personally don't care if a specific app crashes or freezes but being able to randomly reboot the phone is kind of concerning.
Just wondering if anyone else experienced similar things. I really love the phone but not sure whether this is one of the LG software glitches they are famous for.
Well I play dh4 and blitz brigade and ravensword:shadwolands and ive dh4 fc on me like 10 times in a row once but I just rebooted the phone and it fixed the problem. Never seen what ur describing :/

Does the led flash green a couple times before rebooting? Because what your descibing happened to me.
That's bit of worry. I have the same issue with my Xperia Zl it reboots when it gets warm but this only started after I rooted my phone.
Thermal throttling is doing that the keep the chips from frying.

Jerky Control In Multitouch Games.

I thought the jerky, twitchy aiming and movement was a problem in Battle Bay, but now playing Shadowgun Legends I'm getting a similar, but more often, jerky response that leave me looking in a random direction or sometimes in a different position as if I suddenly sprinted.
Anyone else? It's common enough, and annoying, I've thought about trying P.

There's a magisk module now that I got from this link.

It works, I just flashed it about 30 mins ago.
It is working I am using it for 3-4 days.
I flashed Android P. It's much better but still there. At least Shadowgun Legends is playable.
