Hi All,
Does the OnePlus 5T running OxygenOS 5.0.3 work with Dropbox properly. Dropbox the app loads, I can access my cloud files and upload files manually no problem. But the camera upload feature does not work all the time. If I restart my phone it will upload photos for a few seconds and then stop working again. Is this behaviour anyone else has witnessed too? I am at a loss at how to correct this problem. I contact OnePlus support, they claim its not their problem. I have contacted Dropbox support, they claim its a OnePlus issue with the OS interfering with the app. I feel like I'm stuck now with no solution. I haven't been able to come across anyone else with this problem. Any ideas/help would really be appreciated. I find the fact that it uploads for a short period of time then stops really bizarre. Would this support Dropbox's claim that the OP software is somehow interfering to kill off background transfers or something?
Have you checked the settings for anything that might require WiFi for uploads? I know with Google drive, for instance, it will only upload/download things if you're on wifi by default, but there is a setting to allow uploads and downloads on mobile data too. I don't use Dropbox, but that was my first thought.
My other thought is to to into your Doze settings and check it Dropbox is being optimized. If it is being optimized, you may want to try setting it to not optimized and see if that fixes your issue.
Good luck!

Yeah I've tried changing things like allowing Dropbox to upload via WiFi only, WiFi and data. I've also changed the settings around the battery level (i.e. only upload when battery is >30%).
I've turned off the optimise settings for Dropbox; that is the Dropbox setting under "Battery optimisation" is set to "Don't optimise" if that's what you mean. Is that what the doze settings are? I can't find anything specifically around Doze in the settings anywhere. Also in the app settings Dropbox is set to allow "Background activity". I've attached 2 screenshots, but I look at the 2 screenshots attached from different settings screens they say different things though. One says optimisation is off, the other says its on?
Finding OP very frustrating on this, its the only device I own that has this issue so its definitely something on the phone being funny. Dropbox are adamant its a OP issue not a Dropbox issue; but the OP support guys just blow you off instantly and tell you to talk to the app developer. Just no interest at all in looking into it.

I did the exact same things, and still having the same problem, too. It will only upload when I open the app.
Any news on this one guys? Experiencing the same issues after upgrading my Samsung S8 to Oreo.
Uploads only working fine once.. after that only a manual upload is possible (or turning off -and back on again the camera uploads)
Pretty annoying

Sorry, never came back to this. I ended up working with Dropbox support for a few months and they resolved the issue with software updates.

I have the Telus Touch Pro 2 and have noticed for quite some time now it has been randomly connecting and I haven't been able to track down what program is doing it. I have disabled the push internet and even installed the NoPushInternet_v2.cab but it is still doing it.
Is this happening to anyone else?
Is there a program that can track what programs call up the Data connection or maybe the aGPS?
Thanks for any info you guys may have.

If you have it enabled, both the weather tab and the Facebook integration will use up data.
Also, if you set up an exchange account, use activesync, Windows Live account, or QuickGPS.
Google Maps can also run in the background to transmit your location data if you have it enabled for Latitude.
Make sure you used tools like memmaid or other similar tools. It will show u what services is running even though you thought those programs that you closed, actually they are not closed.
I have mine behaving the same problem like u discribed, checked the microsoft live service still run causing the problem. I used memaid to stop it from lauching. and now it fixed.
hi there
maybe this will help OP as well, is there a tweak that will allow the Data connection to ask permission before connecting?
thanks in advance

That was one of the things that really bugged me when I first got my TP2. I didn't always need data, and it annoyed me because of the batt instead of data charges. Try a program called No Data. I think the actual cab file is called nodatahtcdriver. You'd have to do a search to find it because I can't remember where I found it. It allows you to toggle your internet, data and MMS.
I've noticed lately that any app I download that has a live tile crashes when I try to run it. Any other app runs fine. I was curious that this might be a result of the 15 push app limit. So, I went thru all my apps that have live tiles, removed them from my start screen, and unchecked "live tile," "push notification" or whatever option they had. This did not fix the problem, even after a reboot. If i re-pin one of the old apps and enable live tile, they work just fine.
I'm wondering this is just a glitch with my phone, or whether wp7 doesn't have the ability to release the "hold" that an app has on one of the 15 available channels. Is anyone having this same experience?
Did you ever find a resolution for this other than a hard rest? I am experiencing the same problem and have also tried disabling all my notification apps. Im debating weather I should wait till NoDo and see if it fixes the problem before I hard reset.
On another note, is there any way or do any of my games data get saved when hard resetting? I really dont want to loose that saved data.
Thanks.

It's quite possible that the installed apps aren't handling the disabling of notifications correctly and clearing the channel. So if they've already registered a channel, they'll still count towards the 15.
Try uninstalling one of them, and check if that helps.
Incidentally, the apps shouldn't crash when they can't register a channel, they should catch the error and let you know. Let the developer know what's happening so they can fix it (don't do it via a review, try emailing them).

It definately seems like the apps are not releasing the channel properly. Is there any way to go into the registry and manually removed them? Also I have removed several of the apps that had Live Tilese enabled then disabled but I still cannot enable Live Tiles in new apps without receiving an error.
Edit: I went through and removed several other apps including one in which I was having issues on and off with live tiles. After uninstalling that app Live Tiles seems to be working on all my other apps. I'm not sure if the problem was the specific app or not but the issue appears to be cleared up. Thanks dgaust for the advise.
guys, i have 4 email live tile, HTC, Mo tweet, and i do not have any issues, i am using HD7.
It's not a problem with your phone, it's a problem in the app. The SDK launchs a exception when you are over 15. Write to the developper to fix this problem

The problem I as having was that I wasnt over the 15 limit, I was at something closer to 5-10 but some of my previous apps apparently had not removed themselves from the list when I disabled them.

Well none of the MS apps count towards the live tile limits. but even the you were no where near the 15 limit.
Hi everyone,
I wondered if anyone could should some light on google+ for me?
I've had for the GN for a little over a day nowand for whatever reason I thought I'd check my data usage. Google+ has somehow managed to use 296mb even though I don't use google plus at all.
I've figured out that the camera does an auto upload, so I have disabled that, but is there anything else that I can turn off to help keep this data usage down to a minimum because 250mb per day is pretty heavy...
Any help would be hugely appreciated as I'm completely new to android.
Thanks all.
Probably you have activated the automatic picture upload to Google+? This could be managed within the app. Under settings you could manage that this upload will only be done by WIFI or you could completly stop this upload!

I think the only killer is instant upload of pictures and videos. Did you even take 200+Mb of pictures? Everything else is pretty harmless apart from synching contacts and that wouldnt take up much. Just set your uploads to only go over a wifi connection and it should be fine.
Mark.
Thanks for the replies guys
I think i took a total of six pictures just messing with the camera. I think ill stay off the camera for a day and see if the data calms down.
Ive turned auto upload off so hopefully itll sort itself out anyway.
It was probably just initial contact/data sync and then picture instant upload. If you turn off instant upload in the settings you'll be fine.
You can also just turn off background data for G+ in the data use settings if you're not going to use it.
I've had Google+ issues too today.
I haven't got instant upload ticked, but now that i'm home and on wifi, google+ is say here rattling away at 4% CPU and appears to be constantly downloading something, but god knows what as I've been home 4 hours and its not stopped.
"System Panel" app shows my Network on the phone constantly downloading upto 1mb/sec. I confirm this is Google+ by force stopping the app and the network usage and CPU drops to zero.
I do have a rather large Picasa collection, but as these are already with Google, i'm not sure why it would do anything with those....
I've rebooted the phone since the force stop and all is quiet, no downloading.
Opened Google+ again.... a little download when I went into photos, but all quiet.
Opened Gallery, its shows all my albums, but no extra traffic or CPU.
I wonder if Google+ just got its knickers in a twist somehow?

It'll be syncing them to your gallery then. They've probably all appeared in there now.
Data usage of google plus
I have the same problem with my Galaxy Nexus.
I found that a backup of all my pictures in picasa is automatically kept under:
/data/media/Android/data/com.google.android.apps.plus/cache
which appears as "USB storage data" in Google+ App info.
This backup starts even if the "Make available offline" option in the Gallery is not selected and since I have many pictures in Picasa, the total amount of storage used is almost 2GB !
In order to avoid this undesired synchronization of google+, I had to disable the "Sync Google Photos" under my "Sync Settings".
I also removed by hand the above directory to recover the (precious) space in my phone.
Unfortunately this is causing the side effect that the instant upload is not anymore available for photos and videos.
It would be highly desirable that an option is introduced to disable this google+ synchronization.
Hello everyone,
Since the beggining of this week, I'm experiencing a weird and suspicious event.
My wifi icon shows up like if I was downloading something 24/7 (please see the attached picture)
Seems like some app keeps using my wifi to send/receive data (could be a trojan ?).
I want to know your thoughts about this knowing that I rebooted both my phone and rooter several times already.
Thanks.
Hey dude,
That's normal. Most times bloatware is running as a back process on the phone. It also depends which apps you've got. Like news apps or if your Facebook or Twitter is active. Don't worry about it, I would say.

If you are worried about Trojans do a search on Play for one of the free security software. A good one will scan and show you suspicious apps you need to evaluate and possibly remove. Good luck
Best way to find out is root and use Android Firewall. It is free and useful. You can block and just check logs to see what is sending traffic.. and where.
Thanks for the answers guys
It does look like some heavy working app because It takes ages before a normal website loads.
@Beowulf_pt : that's exactly what I'm looking for, cheers !
You really need to look at what you have runing in the background and decide if you want all of it turned on. There is a lot of things that are on by default that you may not need like auto updates for apps. They will be checking to see if there is an update and use your bandwidth even if there is no update available.

It could be google instant upload / picasa (check your Google Account sync settings) or Dropbox Camera Upload (check dropbox app settings).if you have those enabled that could be the cause. I'd guess they're the most likely culprits in this case.
Hy,
anyone saw that the new gallery update brings "Browse your photos and videos in the cloud" functionality?
Now I sure dont see any option for this but at night I got a notification from Coud that "duplicates has been deleted"...
I dont know where I can find this features, but I sure dont want any photos/videos uploaded to cloud without my permission... So if anyone have any info on this, I would really appreciate it.
Best regards
X2
I have an htc one m7 that I just updated to the latest version, after a reboot it shows the same message "gallery cloud" duplicate... etc
It didnt ask for my permission, I have the htc sync disabled, cant seem to find the option to disable this POS. Not happy.
I just noticed this morning the same behavior. I am trying to find out where this service is coming from, why it is running without my permissions and why it is putting my personal information in the cloud somewhere and I don't know where or how to get it, shut it off, or change it. It has really pissed me off to no end. I am hoping someone has an idea.
Just came here looking for the same answer.
A bit of a **** move if HTC is uploading peoples pics without asking first!!
I've emailed HTC via the play store app and asked how do we turn this feature off. I'll post if I get an answer...
Chiming in. just saw this, not pleased. I'm thinking of disabling the app till a solution is found.
I might bin it too, don't want this feature using up my data allowance...I've got about 4000 pictures on my phone...
yea wtf
Same issue. my phone keeps giving me a Cloud Gallery notification every 10 minutes or so saying it deleted duplicate photos. What in the world HTC was thinking, we may never know. But they need to let us turn this off because I show it using my data. Not cool HTC.
To add to it, I open my gallery and its cycling through all of my photos. Constantly. I click a folder, then the 'highlights' starts fast-cycling through every single photo in the folder. Not like a preview as it used to (which was annoying). This needs to stop. As someone else mentioned, I also have thousands of photos on my phone and this is driving me nuts.

HTC Cloud Gallery does not upload any of your files to the cloud. It only indexes whatever you have on Dropbox, GDrive, FB, Flickr, only after you have agreed to link to those sites. If you see photos found by Cloud Gallery, those could be uploaded by Dropbox or GDrive automatically. You need to check their settings. Again, Cloud Gallery is a "read only" indexing service.
Started getting the same notification since the last few days -- and the worst part is that there doesn't seem to be a setting anywhere in the gallery app or in the system settings allowing to configure this "Cloud Sync" or turn it off all together.
And now I really don't know if my pictures got "synced" somewhere in someone's cloud Really annoying. Uninstalled the gallery app altogether with Titanium Backup root uninstall.

I have the same issue. Haven't found a solution yet but I wanted to let you know that freezing/uninstalling gallery will stop the cloud syncs but there are side affects.
I froze it and all seemed normal until I tried to set a contact image. Freezing gallery somehow disrupted the ability to link images to contacts. I tried it from within the contact app and through a third party gallery app and it wouldn't work either way. I had to defrost the HTC gallery in order to set the contact image.
There maybe other side affects but that was the only one that I ran into.
