I have several Axim X50, X50v, X51, and X51v PPC's that I could really use with some older measurement devices, using bluetooth to transfer from the devices to Pocket Excel. Some are running WM2003 (latest ROM A06) and some are running WM5 latest ROM A12). There are 2 versions of Bluetooth running on these devices, and some of each O/S have the version I need.
The devices which use Broadcom Bluetooth for Windows CE (BT-PPC Version 1.7.1 Build 3400) work perfectly. The Bluetooth Icon brings up (literally) a menu with choices 1 - Turn Bluetooth On or Off, 2 - Bluetooth Manager, and 3 - Bluetooth Settings). Pairing devices with this particular stack is quick and stable. This version is also installed on several Axim X30 units I have, and all of them function well. This version is installed randomly on the X50/X51 units, and is not linked to the O/S version (some 2003SE have it, some WM5 as well, but most of the X50/X51 units have the version described in the next paragraph.
Other units with a different version of Bluetooth (not described on the devices) have choices for setting up devices, Inbound and Outbound ports, etc. from a full white screen with radiobox choices only to turn Bluetooth ON or make the unit discoverable to other devices. This version works, but is very unreliable and drops connections repeatedly.
Since all links to WM5, WM6 and later ROM's seem to be dead on all sites such as xda developers and aximsite is gone, are there any remaining sources for these ROM updates or firmware to install or upgrade/downgrade the Broadcom Bluetooth to the version listed above?
I realize that there are probably very few of these in use nowadays, but I own them and they could be very useful if they all had the Broadcom Bluetooth version I have described, or one that works in a similar fashion.
Any insite would be most appreciated.
Thanks!

Hi,
I have problems connecting to my bt headset since I have installed TomTom3. I am running the build3500 bluetooth stack from the 1.06.02 FRA radio. It was working fine without even losing connection with the mda, but after I installed tomtom, it can pair, but cannot connect. The weird thing is that I can sync using bluetooth. I suspect tomtom is keeping busy some of the bt com ports? i noticed that during installation, it required to close bluetooth (cause it said the file BtcoreIf.dll was in use) and as soon as I did that, it finished installation, but since then the headset stopped working. Anyone has similar problems??
Thanks in advance for any input.
Update
Managed to sort it out by upgrading my BT stack to 1.0.0.3900. Still cannot find any similar complaints in any forums. Can it just happen to my MDA III? Who knows....at least it works now, even if my engineering background is not happy with it
Upgrading the bluetooth stack
Hi,
I have exactly the same problem as you had, although I'm on the UK network Vodafone and have an XDA2s.
My current radio version is 1.06.02 but I can't fine what version my bluetooth stack is. How do I upgrade to 1.0.0.3900?
Thanks in advance for any assistance you can provide.
Hi,
I am using Qtek9090 with TomTom 3.07 and Jabra BT800 headset and have not the problems you people talk about here. I have to mention that I immediately updated my BT version from 2400 to 3900 the same day I purchased the whole stuff. I was - when I was in the shop - told that TomTom 3.07 can sometimes cause problems due to BT version of Qtek (1.0.0.2400) and I better upgrade it to 3500 and/or 3900. I was also told that there were known problems with earlier versions of TomTom wireless (like in your case TomTom 3.03) and that I (at least) had to use TT 3.07 and/or better upgrade the BT driver of my Qtek9090. In order to find your current BT version:
- Click on Bluetooth icon
- Select Bluetooth Settings
- Go to [About] tab
- And there you see your own Build
- You can also select [Advanced] button in [About] for more details
Anyway, once being at home and taking my device out of package I did a BT upgrade to 1.0.0.3900 right away and so far I have no issue with BT stack. Even Jabra BT800 which a lot people complain about works fine with my Qtek9090 (OK, I admit the CallerID at Jabra still not working but I already expected that).
I downloaded the 3900 version of Bluetooth driver (plus another Audio driver) at the following URL in The Netherlands: http://www.pdanieuws.nl/modules/mydownloads/singlefile.php?lid=37

tomtom gps
The problem is that tomtom is messing around a bit with bluetooth for bt gps receivers.
So after installing tomtom allways reinstall the latest bt drivers.
AFAIK you should always use TTN 3.07 (GPS and Navigator) on SE and Phone Edition devices (Blue Angels is both WM2003SE and Phone Edition)
Big Fat TY
I was getting stupid before reading this 3d.
Even went back to the shop with the motorola headset and had them show me it was working....
Tom Tom was the reason.

This link is not working at the moment, is there another link for this, i am running an xdaIIs and installed navigator3 and could bond but not connect to my bt headset.
will try the stack upgrade also a link fopr nav3 3.07 would be handy too...
cheers.
all sorted now, have got the files and fixed the issue.
I upgraded to the Qtek rom without any hassle at all (over the top of the i-Mate 1.30.82 latest offering with v0.60 bootloader) and find that it now pairs fine with my bluetake iPhono BT420EX and now offers "Wireless stereo" service in addition to "Hands Free"... but it doesn't work!
HELP - I feel I've come so close, but must be doing something wrong...
If I enable A2DP output by long-click on the iPHONO PLUS and selecting "Set as wireless stereo" (is there an easier way to initiate this?) I hear sounds from all the events, but 'stuttered'. Playback sound via TCPMP or Media Player and it is slow and stuttered. It is as if something has grabbed all the CPU and causing everything to respons slowly. I've got things like PocketBreeze installed but thats about all! Nothing is shoing on the running taks.
On the Hands free side, it has never worked. The phone ignores the headset (and did so on the previous iMate release). The JasJar works fine with my SE HBH600, and the IPhono works fine with my Wife's Samsung D500 so I don't understand what is going wrong here.
Has anyone else come across such problems, or can suggest where I can look for answers.
I have tried a cold reboot to clear any installed progams and it still does the above.
Any help would be really appreciated
Cheers, BossHogg.
RE
There's a 'A2DP Lag' patch somewhere on this board. Do a search, install and see whether it solves your problem
It might be an issue with headset compatibility. I have a Motorola HT820 and I don't experience any stuttering or loss of sound unless I am too far from my Universal.
Can someone do me a HUGE favor? I'm trying to get the X-Scale AKU2 AD2P files for the Treo 700w. From my quick reading of the rom decrypting threads, I need a HTC Uni device to compare the "merged" data from the update + original rom...which I only have a Treo 700w.
I need the following files: Avrcp_MPplugin.dll, bta2dp.dll, sbc.dll
The theory I'm testing is by using the Intel X-Scale compiled files instead of the OMAP compiled files (it appears the file sizes are different on each platform), the Treo 700w will be able to play files without skipping. A poster on pdaphonehome.com suggested this discrepancy.
FYI - I have already tried the AD2P lag patch thread priority patch to no avail.

Qtek Rom is one of the worst rom that i have used till now. A2DP is fancy feature even though i have applied the A2DP patch it was good for some time. After reset of my DOPOD 900 it never worked. I suggest use the recent DOPOD 900 1.30.111 on Uploads folder i can tell you it is one of the best roms that is used from stability point of view. Do not use Radio 1.11 as a.06 is the best. Cheers

It is NOT a fancy feature and, also, because you're not using a QTEK 9000
FYI, I'm using the QTEK 9000 + the latest ROM update + the A2DP lag patch with my iPHONO mini 450Rx and everything works fine

I don't know what version of the QTEK ROM are you referring. But I am using the QTEK ROM version 1.30.77 WWE with A2DP and AKU2 and I have not encountered any stability issues. Plus I never had problems with A2DP even without the patch. Works great on my Motorola HT820.
Spread the love to the Treo 700w users...we need x-scale a2dp DLLs, not the TI OMAP compiled ones for the torndado.

I used the following version.
ROM version: 1.30.77 WWE QTEK
ROM date: 02/20/06
Radio version: 1.09.00
Protocol version: 42.42.P8
ExtROM version: 1.30.176 WWE QTEK
I had mutliple freezes , all application where the same as the ones that i have been happily using on IMATE roms. Can u guide me on the same Cheers
RE
taurus_bull2005
QTEK 9000 ROM update has only one version (the one you're showing) unless somebody changes the EXTROM or upgrade/downgrade the radio.
One thing to note. If you're not using a QTEK 9000 but another Universal variant like JJ/O2 EXEC/Dopod 900 etc things may not work out ideally since the update is customized to QTEK 9000.
If if works, then its a bonus. Otherwise you just have to accept some hiccups in the use of other maker's ROM. This also applies to say using Dopod 900 ROM on my QTEK 9000 or JJ ROM on Dopod 900 etc
I suspect the QTEK ROM don't work well on your machine and its affecting the A2DP and probably giving you those mentioned problems.
This you can test out by hard resetting your device and test the default programs to see whether the mentioned problems exist. Then test the A2DP WITHOUT other programs installed. If it doesn't work then there's a compatibility issue between the QTEK ROM and your machine. If it works fine then it must be some programs you installed thats causing the problem. Forget about the previous 'work fine' applications with your iMate ROM
RE
taurus_bull2005
Just another thought. Could it be your ROM is corrupted?
Can you re-download and re-flash again?

I want to be able to tether my Axim x51v up to my cell phone using bluetooth so I can access the internet occasionally. I tried to install the WIDCOMM bluetooth stack and then the x51v was no longer visible by Vista's Windows Mobile Device Center. I ended up doing a hard reset and am back to the Microsoft bluetooth stack which is so limited in comparison. Anyone have any suggestions?
I am using WIDCOMM bluetooth stack install work with Dell Axim x51v WM6 (Football), I can connect to my cell phone using bluetooth and access the internet...
rolwu: can you go into settings --> connections --> usb to pc and try to uncheck 'enable advanced network functionality' and tell me what happens please? also, do you still have a 'bluetooth explorer' icon in programs? what happens if you click on that icon? just a couple of the problems that i had right off the bat with the widcomm bluetooth stack and want to see if you have them as well. it is very possible that i installed it wrong or just did something incorrectly. thanks!
Broadcomm stack works on my ROM and works fine

Yes it works!!!!
Hi Football, are you planning to remove the old Microsoft Stack ? It would be nice to release also a Widcomm enabled ROM...
Cheers!
Football: first of all, thank you for the work you did to create the great WM6 image for the Axim x51v. You have breathed new life into my old device.
If you would not mind Football, would you please give me a link to the Broadcomm stack that you installed and instructions, or a link to a thread that provides instructions, on how to install it? For some reason the one that I installed, Widcomm (which I assume is the same as Broadcomm), did not work properly.
Oh, and do you have a paypal account Football? I would not mind sending you a small gift as a token of my appreciation for your efforts.
I went ahead and tried to install the BroadcomBluetoothStackX51V05 from aximsite (which I assume is the correct one to use) and performed a soft reset as instructed. I then made the change to the registry to set the flow control value to '0' (not sure if that is still required). However, I have a few problems using this bluetooth stack:
(a) The Axim will no longer synchronize with Windows Mobile Device Center (using Vista Ultimate). If someone can please explain how to get this working I would appreciate it.
(b) If I go into Settings --> Connections --> USB to PC, I can not uncheck the 'Enable advanced network functionality' or I get this error - "Failed to disable RNDIS to use Serial." It was suggested to uncheck this in other posts related to troubleshooting failed connections with WMDC.
(c) Programs --> Bluetooth Explorer, when launched tells me that "Bluetooth radio is turned off. Do you want to turn it on?" Bluetooth is already on but I select 'Yes' and eventually it tells me "Failed to turn on Bluetooth radio."
These are the problems I have noticed so far. Do others who are using this Bluetooth stack have the same problems with the WM6 A03 ROM? Can you synchronize with Windows Mobile Device Center?
I appreciate you help and feedback.
Hi djlenoir...
I installed the Widcomm stack from Aximsite and I also experienced same problems as you...
The '0' in the registry is not required for normal operation I think. The Hardware Flow Control must be disabled only if you connect an A2DP device to improve performance and stabilty. I'm having issue about point (c) as you and I think the BT explorer only works with MS Stack... When I tried It, also created a useless bluetooth device folder(same as CF or SD) in the file explorer wich I had to remove deleting a startup menu shortcut created by the system. Another issue is the BT Obex file transfer speed wich cannot be sustained at so high default speed (I'm having chopping between 2 and 60 KB/s. Reverting to slow speed using BTSpeedSwitcher seems to solve the problem but speed si only 28-30 KB/s. Tryed with MANY BT dongles and different PC stack (Widcomm, M$, Bluesoleil).
Cheers
Football Add The BroadCom Bluetooth Stack To Your New WM6 A05 ROM
Yes, the broadcom bluetooth stack works perfect with the X51v running Football's wm6 RTM A03 ROM. Now Football all you need to do now is add the broadcom bluetooth stack to your new wm6 A05 ROM! It's got the perfect setup for SKYPE!

I feel the opposite and prefer to leave MS BT stack since we can always install the Broadcom stack whenever we like. In fact, I found the A2DP sound quality a lot better from the original stack

With out a doubt, the broadcom bluetooth stack has better stereo sound quality, than the Microsoft bluetooth stack, that's plain to see and hear. Plus I use the broadcom bluetooth stack to make VOIP (SKYPE) phone calls but I cannot do that with the Microsoft bluetooth stack.

It's only without "your" doubt. Not to mention a serious bug in broadcom A2DP (across all PDA I tested) which system volume adjustment is not working. I found my SE HBH-DS220 a lot worse than the original MS stack on x51v. (But the same handset works very good w/ my Asus P525 which also has use broadcom stack. Maybe some tweak is need...)
Since different people got different need, it's better to leave it and have the user to install broadcom stack as needed

I have been using the Broadcom bluetooth stack way back before Dell ever thought of a x51v! We only had the X50v back then in those days! (Old School) Menneisyys and his friend Mike Spikle were the first ones to introduce the Broadcomm bluetooth stack and I still have the same download of their first original fix with the bluetoothspeedswitcher.zip and the flowcontrolhack.reg on both of my x51v's. I have never had a skipping problem, the stereo sound is perfect. Menneeisyys uses the Plantronics 590A bluetooth headset and I also use the same headset for that perfect stereo sound quality. Maybe, you are using a different broadcom bluetooth stack, than what we are using, because I have no problem using the volume control (high or low) again it works like a charm and always has.................!
hi,
i had just upgraded my dell axim x50v with A03 rom.
It doesnt have a ftp bluetooth and connection cannot be made because it doesnt offer any sevices.
pls advice , do i need to install any additonal pbluetooth program ?
thanks.
What A03? WM5? WM6? Or is it just the point of the game to guess?
For info, I have WM6 A03 Beta 1 and bluetooth works fine (with my GPS at least, so the serial port service works).
dell axim x50v wm6 ao3
how about the ftp bluetooth file transfer ?
are they working ?
Dunno, I really only use bluetooth for the GPS.
It's well known that WM6 has issues with WiFi and WPA on X50v, but with bluetooth, I assumed everything was working (since COM ports work fine).
I used bluetooth for network sharing at some point, which required a hacked Widcomm driver for a USB dongle, but that's a different story (and a different PPC using a CF bluetooth card anyway).
Hello all chefs, I'm having a pain with the BT interface to my car kit and headset on the current ROM, on other ROM's its been ok, is there any way to create a CAB with only the bluetooth components and their dependancies in? If so can we populate this thread with ones from your ROM's
BT
How I would appreciate this...
Off-topic a bit maybe, but I have been trying for long without luck to backup pairing (registry) of GPS and car BT devices and then reinstall them (either after flashing same ROM or different one).
BT
The problem seems to be that BT connectivity works with some WM6 ROMs (original HTC and some of Schaps for example) but not with all.
I use Pays ROMs which are quite excellent but BT is not working with my Audi MMI. It worked with HTC Original.
Same problem over here
Same problem over here, Original HTC WM6 Rom and Schaps work ok. Others keep conecting and disconecting win an Audi handsfree Bluetooh radio.
so maybe SCHAPs will let us know what he has done differently, I have found the same occurs for me, I had an older SCHAPs rom installed, I decided to move over to a clean more up to date rom which has poor BT quality and performance for some bizarre reason..
Bluetooth
Which of Schaps WM6 ROM versions are working with Audi MMI?
I think people's best bet (and I promise this isn't the same glib answer people give a lot around here) but your best bet is to run a search.
There are quite a few versions of Bluetooth 'software' around - and I don't mean the external programs but the whole internal software 'mechanism' of bluetooth in windows devices. The 'stack' that largely controls bluetooth has a number of different versions and I'm 90% convinced that I've seen OEMs floating about for it.
Rather than the XDA search (which has had problems lately), try using google and search for the terms you want with site:forum.xda-developers.com after. Thus (DON'T include the inverted commas) you'd maybe put:
"bluetooth stack site:forum.xda-developers.com"
into Google and it will prob find your info. Sorry I'm not being more specific.
