Apparently bricked Pixel - Google Pixel XL Questions & Answers

I'll be short on my story
Today my Pixel XL 128GB just frozen when i was browsing Instagram and turn of automatically. Weird doesn't it?
My device was locked and always with official Android. I was running latest 8.1 december security update with unlock bootloader toggle, on Developer settings, turned off.
Hollding power button down, don't matter how long, it doesn't turn on again. Sometimes a short vibration can be noticed. A couples of hours latter, holding bootloader button combination works but now even bottloader screen won't show up. While bootloader was working, choosing recovery only shows Google screen for less than one second and black screen again
In bootloader screen i remember seeing some info as BL: n/a, Basebands: n/a, Boot-slots b...
During the night i noticed some screen flickering only in a part of top panel.
Anyway. Now i only get the vibration holding bootloader buttons combinations but no bootloader screen at all.
I live in Brazil and i guess i don't have RMA support by Google. Pixel isn't officialy sold here.
I'm screwd right?

There are some email to contact google directly? I'm trying to solve my problem. We don't have RMA in Brazil

[Q] Often unable to unlock phone as screen won't turn on when I try to wake the Play?

I've had this phone for 12 months (Typical! Just out of warranty! ), and I'm still running the initial stock ROM, however, all of a sudden last week whenever I took it out of my pocket and tried to unlock it, the screen stayed blank. Regardless of whether I use the power button or press Home, (or slide the gamepad out) it very often won't display the lock screen so I can unlock it. Occasionally it will display the unlock screen fine, but increasingly often it won't.
The phone is definitely still on, as if I press the volume keys I can hear it "Beep-BEep-BEEp-BEEP" as I push the volume at the side to turn it up. Occasionally after lots of trying it might come back and display the screen for me to slide-unlock, but most times I end up just taking the battery out.
Any ideas regarding what has caused this and what could maybe fix this? I've never dropped it, spilled water on it, or done anything other than it was intended so it's really puzzling and I'm concerned that when I receive phone calls I will be unable to answer them as a result.
Thanks in advance!
I guess it's the flex cable damaged.

Is there a way to tell for certain before I attempt to replace this? I just got a phone call and was able to answer it by dragging my finger across the screen, however the screen was off. So the touch screen is still functioning. It's not the backlight as the screen is definitely still "asleep" and under light you still couldn't see any pixels. It's as if the display is asleep and isn't waking up. I have a feeling it's to do with the phone's ability to slide open, but I'm not sure.
Thanks.
Touch screen still working so means the screen or the flex cable is damaged. But most probably is the flex cable because of the design, lots of people having this issue.
As the above poster said might be the flex but the whole LCD might be dameged hold it under intense light and and watch the LCD power on when the phone turns on if not well...

[Q] Touchscreen only works in power menu?

Hello,
I just got a nexus 7 2013 that had a busted screen. It still showed data between the huge shatter, and didn't respond to my attempts to unlock it by swiping. I assumed it was just a bad screen and bought a replacement and installed it today.
The display worked, but the touchscreen didn't seem to be responding to me trying to swipe to unlock. I eventually figured out that although I couldn't unlock it, the dialogue menus from long pressing the power button did work! Well, some, anyway. I can change sound modes, airplane mode, and access the power off dialogue, but am only able to select cancel from the two options, though ok is not grayed out. I can also click anywhere outside the dialogue and it will back out of it, leading me to assume that the screen's hardware is intact and functioning.
I then hard reset it via stock recovery and am now at the welcome screen prompting a language selection with the big right arrow, unable to press it but still able to interact with the power off and cancel options of the power menu.
Recovery says its running KOT49H.
I've used NRT to reflash the same build from a stock download, and I'm still stuck at the same spot.
What the heck can I do?

I would assume that the new digitizer is still bad. There are lots of them on sale on Ebay where the seller would assure the merchandise has been "tested" before shipping. In reality, they might not be. If you happen to have one with spotty functionality, there's nothing you can do with the software to cure it. It would not respond in some areas, period. If you only replace the digitizer instead of the whole LCD/touchscreen assembly, chances are you have a partially bad one. I've never come across one good one myself.

screen stays dark with boot sound

dear community
my neighbour gave me his Z1 compact because it did not work anymore.
It was stuck on loginscreen, when i touched the unlock button it vibrated, but nothing else happened.
I could however download all his photos on my Win7PC by just plugging it on USB
but it kept staying unresponsive, no way to get beyond lockscreen
So I used SonyMobileFlasher and unlocked the bootloader without any issues - no errors.
Then I flashed a new firmware obtained through XperiFirm without errors
Now, when I boot, I can hear the boot-melody (??)
but the screen stays dark.
I can connect the phone via flash mode and fastboot mode
I can switch it off by pressing volUp+Power (three vibrates)
from Off i press power, it plays the melody, but the screen stays dark
Is it a hardware damage?
Is there anything I can do for the phone?
thx for ur input

Seems like busted display to me. Flash recovery and see if touch screen works in recovery. If not, definitely hw.
thx for ur reply, i flashed TWRP- several trys, now I can see the TWRP lock screen, but when I swipe to log in it vibrates, soon after the screen scrambles away, vertical lines just fade and then crash-off.
seems very much like the screen is defect? not worth replacing, seems like a whole huzzle to replace that screen
pitty, one more device to trash.
i am seriously looking into fairphone2, would be nice to replace the screen so easy.

Maybe not extremely easy, but there are guides in the forum here for screen replacement, if your feel up to it.

Screen dead from software bug?

Hi
I got the xt-1710-09 and recently installed the android 9 upgrade which never was officially released for this version.
everything works fine except every few weeks something crashes which results in the screen always staying off. I first considered it a hardware fault since the contacts to the screen aren't that good any more which results in gfx glitches when applying slight pressure to the screen.
Now I realized when booting into TWRP via ADB the screen goes on again and the phone works for a few weeks.
does anybody have an idea what could be the cause?
I suspect the code of the fingerprint sensor. since this code already crashed earlier which resulted in the fingerprint gestures not working any more until reboot.
when the screen is dead everything works fine except well the screen and touch control. which mean the phone is almost unusable except via "ok google" speech control.
using the fingerprint the phone vibrates approval. (not the wrong fingerprint vibration)
but regardless of pressing power button or fingerprint sensor, the screen just stays black.
i believe I rebooted the phone several times via letting run the battery down or pressing the power button for a long time. this did not help. only booting into TWRP always (temporarly) solves the issue.
the phone is unlocked, rooted and twrp installed.
thanx

confusing screen burn-in/flickering (first post woohoo)

Hello. This is my first thread, I have downloaded maybe hundreds of ROM's from this site, have read thousands of threads and of course bricked a few phones lmao. Now I am here with a REALLY confusing problem. Without further ado, let's dive in. sry for my bad english btw.
I bought a second hand S9 today. The guy whom I bought the device told me, when he turns off the screen of the device by pressing the power button, black and green lines appear when he turns on again, and after a few seconds, when he turns the screen back on by pressing the power button, the problem disappears he told. I think he said there is a problem in the part called screen flex. (I ain't sure what that is, I need info about that too.) Sorry if you're confused this far, cuz more is coming thru
I got a very useful APK file named "OLED/AMOLED Saver" and installed it on my device, it worked really well and the lines were almost invisible anymore. After a few hours of use, what I noticed was even more confusing. I activated the AoD (Always on Display) feature, coincidentally, while testing the screen, when I locked the device by pressing the power button and the clock appeared on the AoD screen, when I turned on the screen in that way, I noticed that the screen did not burn in as if it was brand damn new. But if I don't wait for the AoD screen to show up and immediately press the power button again, the screen turns on completely and something really, really terrible appears, a mixture of black and green. Now let's come to my questions, I've blown your mind a lot I think.
1- Can anyone explain what's going on here?
2- Is the problem in the screen flex or is it purely software? (AoD thing)
3-Is there anyone who has experienced this and was able to completely solve the problem?
Thank you for spending your precious time. Hope I get a solution..
Hello, I have same problem with my old S9, it seems that is fully hardware issue, as a workaround you can set full brightness - it causes this issue to appear less frequently and another option is cooling down the phone - when display is black/green just lock the screen and put your phone to the freezer for a while - it will work properly until it heats again
Its something about an update made by Samsung https://eu.community.samsung.com/t5...t-bars-black-screen-issue/td-p/1745470/page/4
