screen stays dark with boot sound - Xperia Z1 Compact Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

dear community
my neighbour gave me his Z1 compact because it did not work anymore.
It was stuck on loginscreen, when i touched the unlock button it vibrated, but nothing else happened.
I could however download all his photos on my Win7PC by just plugging it on USB
but it kept staying unresponsive, no way to get beyond lockscreen
So I used SonyMobileFlasher and unlocked the bootloader without any issues - no errors.
Then I flashed a new firmware obtained through XperiFirm without errors
Now, when I boot, I can hear the boot-melody (??)
but the screen stays dark.
I can connect the phone via flash mode and fastboot mode
I can switch it off by pressing volUp+Power (three vibrates)
from Off i press power, it plays the melody, but the screen stays dark
Is it a hardware damage?
Is there anything I can do for the phone?
thx for ur input

Seems like busted display to me. Flash recovery and see if touch screen works in recovery. If not, definitely hw.

thx for ur reply, i flashed TWRP- several trys, now I can see the TWRP lock screen, but when I swipe to log in it vibrates, soon after the screen scrambles away, vertical lines just fade and then crash-off.
seems very much like the screen is defect? not worth replacing, seems like a whole huzzle to replace that screen
pitty, one more device to trash.
i am seriously looking into fairphone2, would be nice to replace the screen so easy.

Maybe not extremely easy, but there are guides in the forum here for screen replacement, if your feel up to it.

[Q] any advice? no firmware?

Hello everyone,
I received my cousin's phone asking me to see if I can repair it for him. I've tried turning it on and there is the initial vibrate, and thats it. No sound and no display. Nor do the buytons light up. It's like there is no andriod installed at all lol. I have mangead to get it to boot in hboot but again, there is no display. I don't know but could the screen be dead? Is there any advice that may help fix the phone?
I don't even know what firmware it would be running. All I have managed to do it install the HTC Bootloader while trying to root it.
Thanks all in advance
Simon
Go to hboot --> clean storage
if it not works:
did you rooted? if yes, with clockworkmod installed, you can make a hard reset and install other rom
Hello anmnimo95,
Can you tell me how many times I have to press volume - then power button as ike I said, my screen is completely blank, even on hboot mode. It doesnt look like the screen or the front buttons are powering on but the phone itself seems to power up as it vibrates to say its on.
I don't think this phone is rooted but I can't exactly see it as, like i said, screen seems dead

right.. found the source of the problem. Decided to dig deep into the phone... LCD digitzer and the LCD screen ribbon cables are broken. Going to replace these in the hope that it will work. FINGERS CROSSED!

Black Screen

My Xperia play has started an annoying trend of having a black screen. Usually I took the battery out left it a while put the charger and battery in and the screen would work. however the screen is not working. The light on the power button is indicating it is working but when I press the power button it just vibrates. I haven't altered any running programs in anyway. Anyone know what to do?
Thanks in advance.

Don't quite understand your situation.
Firstly, are you on stock or have you done anything with your phone (roms, bootloader unlock etc). have you installed a recovery?
secondly you mention this has happened before & if you do a battery pull it works fine?
at times when your battery is so used up, it takes a while for the phone to come on.
charge the phone for a while when it's switched off & then try turning it on.
Technically, since the charging light is coming on & the phone vibrates, and more importantly since this has happened in the past, it shouldn't be "bricked" unless the situation gets worse
I was in the same situation mate, i have flashed it to stock, relocked bl flashed it with wotan, connected it to the charger.. but anyways if i turn it on it vibrates and the screen was still black. No Sony Ericsson Logo!
I have send it to SE Service, they repaired the screen.. btw.. its the same screen with same scratches as before.. until now i dont know what was the problem

Galaxy S II SGH-T989D Soft bricked

Hey guys.
So I got this Galaxy S II SGH-T989D from my friend, he just gave it to me.
Anyways, I think it is soft bricked. When I stick the battery in, it turns on, displays the samsung logo, then says Koodo with a loading bar underneath. Once the loading bar is complete the screen just goes black, and the device will vibrate every 2 seconds.
Don't really know how to reset this.
Any help is appreciated
Thanks!

if you can go download mode please flash a stock firmware for t989d and flash it using odin.. get the stock firmware from samfirmware.com if u wish.. goodluck
Thanks Ill try!
Okay when I try it put it in download mode, it displays the warning screen about installing a new firmware blah blah, and then before I can do anything the screen flashes, I see blue and then it just goes back to a black screen and vibrating.
When all else fails I suggest opening Kies on your computer and selecting "emergency firmware recovery"

Sounds to me like a power button problem, not a firmware problem. Could be wrong, but the black screen and vibrating sound like the tell-tale symptoms. Check this thread out: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1931310&highlight=power+button
There are many, many threads about this.
Okay so I took the entire phone apart and removed the power button. I tried booting then, and it still does it.
So it is definitely not a button sticking issue
Same issue
I'm having the exact same issue. I've also disassembled my phone and have ruled out the button issue. All fix guides I've encountered thus far require the "volume up + volume down + power button" boot method which is non-responsive on my phone. It continues to vibrate every two seconds. The furthest I get is have halfway through the Samsung load screen before the screen goes black.

it sounds like it might be a bootloader problem, I can't seem to find the thread right now but I know i just saw it on here that a guy in oregon will reset you bootloaders for $25(you pay for shipping), but there was a few people on there also saying that he had done a great job fixing theres. he works for a shop that repairs mobile devices, you should look through the general and q&a for bootloader issue threads i know its in there somewhere.

Xperia Z2, flashed long time ago, screen all black out but still responsive

It was 2 days ago since my phone screen suddenly black out, still responsive thought, checked by entering the passcode, answers call, and turn on the flashlight. If i pressed the power button which means screen on, the screen showing a very low white light over all the place. And when i pressed the power button again which means screen should go off, it's off like a normal. I tried search for solutions mostly suggests to sony companion software repair that brings to factory reset. But sadly i can't use it because my it says i'm using modified software. I'm planning to flash my phone again. Currently, usb debugging is off and can't turn it on since the screen black.
Any suggestions for what should i do? Maybe cast the screen to pc using some apps?

Lg G3 screen stuck on boot screen

Very strange problem. I have a LG G3 D855 for 1 and a half years now(rooted)
My phone was at a very low percentage, and I heared it go out. Happens to everybody, nothing strange so far.
I connected it to the charger and I turned it on, i heared the startup noise, but nothing happened. No pincode screen or unlock screen. Stuck at LG life is good screen. I actually was able to take a screenshot, i heared that sound when pressing power and volume down key. I know it is just right away from the main screen, but why is my screen freezing at startup logo? Tried to hard reset and clear all data, then I get a secure confirmation (verify) error. then my led starts to flash red and blue. Battery taking out and still no success.
How to fix this? Also screen is recognizing touch at the startup screen (when it fades away i click on it and it turns brighter)
EDIT: I blindly went into whatsapp and i am able to type and answer calls blindly wtf. Now I got a blue screen, everything is operational, the screen is blue now
Phone is functional, the screen is stuck on boot (life is good screen or blue screen)
How to fix?
Lol, the day after I hit my phone on the screen and restarted it and it worked again! I really dont know how it works again, but lmao! Also my secure boot sector is not working, that problem has nothing too do with this fixed one.
