My proximity sensor works fine, I've tested it in the sensor test app as well as no issue during calls, the only issue I'm facing is sometimes while charging if I leave my screen off for longer times, it freezes and doesn't turn back on and I've to hard reset the phone using power and volume down, I did a clean flash of 8.1 when it came out, so what can be the problem?

Probably one of the apps you installed. Run the phone in Safe Mode for a while to confirm it's working ok, then start the process of elimination. If it is not working correctly in Safe Mode, factory reset.

can anyone help with htc desire factory rom settings, ie when i make a call the screen goes off and i have to press home button and then phone button to get screen back to disconnect the phone call when finished. Is there a setting that fix's this issue or anyone with a solution or is this a problem with the phone itself ie faulty......
await some help please
regards richard
Are you sure you're not just confusing the function of the proximity sensor? Hold the phone up during a call- it turns black; hold it away, it turns on.

Or you misunderstood his question. His proximity sensor isn't functioning properly (not turning off when he moves the phone away from his face).
If you're running a custom ROM, flash to a stock ROM. If the problem persists, send it back to HTC for repair/replacement.

And just pray that you have more luck than me. I 'm returning my phone today for the 3rd time for this very problem.

are you in loud speaker mode then the proximity sensor doesnt seem to work. otherwise it works for me
Or maybe you have a screen protector or a case that is messing with the proximity sensor. Try removing that.
Hello guys,
Yesterday I unfortunally dropped my HOX for the first time. After that, I'm having troubles with it.
When I press the power button the screen doesn't turn on. Sometimes I manage to turn the screen on when I receive a call or by hard rebooting (power+volume down) but when it goes off, I cannot turn it on again.
I also seems a bit lagged (when it is on) and sometimes it freezes (even with lines of ramdom pixels) and comes back to normal after a few seconds.
I have already hard reset and nothing happened. It seems like a hardware problem.
Can anyone shed some light? (ps.: i haven't unlocked the bootloader)
"Can anyone shed some light?" ......er yeah, you dropped it and now it's [email protected]#ked! case closed!
i had same issue, mine is opened suddenly now its ok luckly

cipcivil, have you opened by yourself or did you take it to htc? If you did by yourself, what did you do?
So I normally just close the case cover and it causes the tab to go to sleep. A couple of times when I pull it off the charger, it wont respond to touches at all. And I am forced to hold the power button down until it turns off and then I can turn it back on and it works fine after that.
Has anyone seen this type of issue before.
I have similar issue but during use, without go to sleep. Pixel freezes sometimes and i am forced to do a hard reboot.
Is there a way to get the advanced menu for restarting it vs just powering off?

Yes, if you are rooted, install Xposed then the module gravity box.
TD;DR - my touchscreen stops working whenever I get a phone call.
I'm experiencing a problem with the touchscreen. When I answer a call and the proximity sensor is activated, the touchscreen stops responding. It continues to be unresponsive even after I move the phone away from my head or end the call. I've mapped the power button "end call" or I can't hang-up )
Sometimes I can press the power button twice (sleep/wake) to restore functionality but on some rare occasions I cannot get the touchscreen to work again without rebooting.
This did not happen when the device was new (running Nougat). When I first encountered it I though it might be due to custom roms so I did a full reset to factory RUU (Oreo I think). This too had the issue. I'm currently running Fagyi's LOS 16.
When the touchscreen is working it works flawlessly. When it stops it mostly doesn't work at all - but double-tap to wake will still wake the device - it just doesn't respond to any touch input.
There's a really easy way I found to force the problem. Here are the steps:
1. With my phone sitting on my desk I call my phone.
2. When the phone rings confirm the touchscreen works.
3. Place my hand over the top area of the phone to activate the proximity sensor.
4. Move my hand away so the screen comes back on.
5. The touchscreen is now dead until I either press power-button twice or, in extreme cases, reboot.
I've watched logcat as this is happening and I could not find anything interesting that seemed related.
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
Hi
I got the xt-1710-09 and recently installed the android 9 upgrade which never was officially released for this version.
everything works fine except every few weeks something crashes which results in the screen always staying off. I first considered it a hardware fault since the contacts to the screen aren't that good any more which results in gfx glitches when applying slight pressure to the screen.
Now I realized when booting into TWRP via ADB the screen goes on again and the phone works for a few weeks.
does anybody have an idea what could be the cause?
I suspect the code of the fingerprint sensor. since this code already crashed earlier which resulted in the fingerprint gestures not working any more until reboot.
when the screen is dead everything works fine except well the screen and touch control. which mean the phone is almost unusable except via "ok google" speech control.
using the fingerprint the phone vibrates approval. (not the wrong fingerprint vibration)
but regardless of pressing power button or fingerprint sensor, the screen just stays black.
i believe I rebooted the phone several times via letting run the battery down or pressing the power button for a long time. this did not help. only booting into TWRP always (temporarly) solves the issue.
the phone is unlocked, rooted and twrp installed.
thanx
